Does anybody know how the exp share works? Well, I know how it works, I've beaten the game, but if you have a full team of 6 pokemon, will they recieve less experience than if you only had 2 pokemon? What I'm saying is, is the exp shared among all the pokemon or will each pokemon recieve it's own amount of experience?

Main battlers receives 100% of the Exp they deserves, while the slackers in the team receive 50% instead. {XD}

Ok, thanks! I wasn't sure how it was divided.

Does anyone know the conditions for rebattling a trainer? I don't remember getting rebattles at all on Y but my friend on X seems to rebattle all the time. Not sure what triggers it.

If your rank is high enough in the Battle Chateau, you can have rematches with the Gym Leaders and Elite 4. Of course, you can have rematches with the Elite 4 in the Pokemon League itself.

Plumpyfoof November 7th, 2013 12:27 PM

So I have a habit of pre-determining one Pokemon to use to sweep the entire Elite 4 ahead of time. I used Lucario for White and White2.

My concluded Pokemon for XY is Porygon-Z
My question is, do you think this set will do the job for in-game purposes only?

Porygon-Z @Expert Belt
Trait: Download
Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power (Ground)

Porygon-Z is NOT available in X/Y. Wait till Poke Bank. And when it does come out: The lack of STAB REALLY hurts:
-Agility
-Tri Attack
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power (Fighting)
Nature: Modest
EVs: 96 HP/252 SAtk/160 Spe
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Download

or
-Tri Attack
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power (Fighting)
-Trick
Nature: Timid/Modest
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Scarf/Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptabilty

or
-Nasty Plot
-Tri Attack
-Dark Pulse
-Hidden Power (Fighting)
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Adapability

Note that BoltBeam is acceptable over Dark Pulse + Hidden Power (Fighting)

Been trying to plan out my Heliolisk for awhile, and now that I got my shiny I guess I can actually go forward with it.

Main question from a competitive standpoint (and I know this isn't the best moveset, but I'm pretty adamant about having the first three), what should I have for the fourth move slot?

Surf
Rain Dance
Thunder
Focus Blast/Hyper Beam

Heliolisk is too frail to set up Rain Dance. It also lacks a good special Normal STAB (not even Hyper Voice or Boomburst, and before you ask, Razor Wind and Hyper Beam don't count as good Special STABs):
-Volt Switch/U-turn
-Thunderbolt/Thunder
-Hidden Power (Ice)/Grass Knot
-Focus Blast
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Specs/Life Orb

Oh I should have mentioned that I am waiting for Pokebank.
Like i said this is simply so I have a single Pokemon to clean up the E4. Used with Exp Share to quickly grind.
I might consider your options for a competitive Porygon-Z so thanks but I imagine OHKOing everything with something 20 levels above is much faster.

I suppose that's true. Hyper Beam is lulzy, yes, but Focus Blast is pretty much the bane of my existence. I'll deliberate some more, but thanks.

I don't know if this the correct place to ask this but I need help with an error in Pokemon X. My cousin was playing pokemon X and while he was saving the game it froze, he turned it off and when he tried to turn it on again it said there was an error and he needed to turn the game off again. I tried to fix it by downloading the update for Pokemon X, but it still says error. I really don't know what to do, if this has happened to anyone else and they managed to fix it, I would appreciate some advice.

Will people be able to bring Pokegen'd Pokemon through Pokebank? Just asking.

Not only does this make it easier to get Gen1-5, but if you bring IV6 Dittos of like the major natures than breeding the Gen6s will be a breeze.

~RNC~ November 7th, 2013 3:10 PM

Hey do any of you know if there's any way to get a cottonee or maractus in X and Y? I need it so I can breed Cotton Spore onto Hoppip

Hiatus November 7th, 2013 3:47 PM

Maractus could be found in Friend Safari. Keep adding more friends, and hope that one of them have it on their list. If they do, then you're good to go! Cottonee—it cannot be found anywhere. Maybe you could find it in the Friend Safari as well, but I'm not too sure. Say, why not request a Cottonee in the GTS? Someone might have one, somehow.

How soon can you start breeding, exactly? I know you gain access to the Day Care shortly after getting the first badge, but I read somewhere that you can only leave one Pokemon there until obtaining a few more badges. Is this true?

Nobody knows for sure yet, but since the chain continues even after you've encountered the shiny, I'm guessing you could. It may take you double the chaining numbers, though. For example, if you ran into a shiny Pokémon at about thirty chains, then you probably won't be able to encounter another one until you reach sixty. That's just a prediction, though. I've never stumbled into two shinies in one chain, personally, but definitely could have if I tried. Shiny chaining takes a lot of time, patience, and motivation, which simply I lack. d:

hiff8 November 7th, 2013 7:07 PM

I know that Mob encounters increase Shiny rates (because they're 5 pokemon, better odds). But I've heard along with that there's actual better individual shiny odds for each pokemon.

Zubat hordes are in Connecting Cave and Gligar hordes are on Route 19.

This should help you if you need more info. :)

I assume that as long as their Natures, Pokeball that caught them, IVs, OTID, OT trainer, nicknames, Pokerus and other PID related things are not altered/added by PokeGen or Pokesav. I think you can migrate them to Gen VI games. But of course it is NOT encouraged to migrate any edited or hacked Pokemon. {:3}

You can start breeding Pokemon after you woke Snorlax on Route 7.

Hi! I play Pokemon X, but there's one thing, one of my friends is a Y player, and when I connect to the PSS, I don't see him. Are you only allowed to battle/trade x players?

Frazzevous November 8th, 2013 2:19 AM

Just wondering... are the Pokemon in the Battle Maison EV trained?

WhtKnt November 8th, 2013 2:25 AM

So, I have what is most likely a dumb question.. but it deals with Breeding. Now, I have an Eevee with Defense, Special Defense, and Speed that I just acquired from Wonder Trade -- which is my second best trade from WT; first being my Japanese Ditto. When is a good recommended time to start breeding for IVs to start EV training the ideal Competitive Battle Team? Before, or after the Pokemon League?

I only ask, because I've been breeding Squirtles and Bulbasaurs for my fiancee and my brother, and 4 out of 5 of their base stats at level 1 are 6, and the other one is 5 -- not sure if that's good or what.

Any insight would be great. Again, sorry if this is a stupid question. >.>

If I were to EV train any of my Pokémon (or breed them for IVs), I would do it after I'm done with defeating the Pokémon League. Once you're done with the league, you're pretty much finished with the main storyline; you have nothing to distract you from achieving your personal goals. d: After Pokémon League, only thing you're left with is the Looker side-story, where you help Looker to solve a big mystery. That isn't very important, though. You could get into it any time you like.

You can trade and battle each other, but first you must register each other's 3DS Friendcode.
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QkeSA_Hrx44/TZ4A4EAC4rI/AAAAAAAAAMw/rsbOHoG5S8g/s1600/3dsfacebookap.jpg
Press that button from your own 3DS system, you can see yours and add your friend's FC there! :)

After that, both of you must online in PSS. If none of you did, then of course you can not see each other!

Hope that help! ;)

No one can verify that yet. However Battle Tower, Battle Subway from the previous Generations actually had theirs specifically stats EV trained, or that was the result that I got from my research across the web. So you can assume that the Pokemon in Battle Maison should be the same too. {:3}

No wonder the Pokemon from the Supers became... noticeably (maybe even drastically) super-ified. ._. Thank you for enlightening me. ^^

Ooka November 8th, 2013 9:19 AM

Hopefully this will be alright here, I'm sure someone had to have asked at some point.

This is just some quick information about changes to Pokeradar this gen, all speculation but I've tested it all and it works for me. Feel free to try it yourself and see what results you get. ^.^

Edge patches do not seem to mess up your chain, though I've come close by only getting 1 patch to shake after an edge encounter. After you finish an edge encounter battle, make sure to reset immediately and don't go into any patches until you do.

Patches at least 2 steps away seem to be fine, as opposed to 4 from 4th gen. I've tested this a lot and never had any problems, but again different people can have different results.

Each shiny encounter in a chain completely resets your shiny encounter rate. Again just from my experience, but after 200+ resets at 41, I didn't get any more shiny patches.

Also, from my own experience, Pokemon get 1 perfect IV in increments of 20 during a chain. At a 20 chain, you will begin to find Pokemon with 1 perfect IV, then at 40, 2 perfect IVs, at 60 they will have 3 perfect IVs. I can't confirm any higher than this, but I believe it keeps going, possibly even up to 6 IVs.

Again, hopefully this helps other people using the radar, good luck, happy hunting. :D

When you do, it should turn around immediately. (: If it doesn't, then your screen's sensitivity might be a bit low. Try tapping a little harder. Pokemon X and Y: Physical/Digital dilemma.

I currently own Pokemon Y the physical copy, and wanted to get Pokemon X the digital (downloadable) version but heard some people had problems in the game and problems while saving.

Anyone here had a similar experience, or is it just a myth?

Help is surely appreciated.

Princess Diana November 8th, 2013 9:49 AM

Last time I heard, a patch had been issued for the saving issues.

I own physical X and digital Y. :)

Quinn November 8th, 2013 9:51 AM

I have never herd any thing like this, i always go physical copy's. but the digital copy's i have from nintendo all work just fine for me of other games. Seeing also that nintendo has come out with several updates i'm sure if this was a problem they would hop on it. If your very worried about it though there was that 3DS update were you can back up your save files.

The question possible way for you to level-up would be by taking on horde battles. In order to run yourself into hordes, go to any you route you like (I would suggest Route 22, though, since it has very high-level Pokémon) and use Sweet Scent. One Pokémon that can learn this move is Roselia, which could be caught at Route 7. Once you've used Sweet Scent, you're going to encounter a horde immediately. (: There's about a dozen of Pokémon in a horde, and each give you about three- to nine-hundred experience, depending on their level. Some even give you over a thousand. When you multiply those by six, you earn approximately five-thousand exp. points. Isn't that a lot? Not only that, but since you're training against wild Pokémon, you're getting EVs boosted as well, which is a plus!

Unfortunately the answer is no. But you can have your Pokemon relearn its level up move by going to the city with a big windmill. An old woman takes one Heart Scale for each moves that your Pokemon relearns.

No, but if you're trying to pass moves onto your eggs, the Pokemon won't stop passing them until you take the Pokemon out.

When Technician is being used, does STAB factor the ability in or not?

Like if Scizor uses Struggle Bug (50BP, 75 with Technician) does STAB add 1.5x of 50 or 75?

To my knowledge, they'd compute independently, so STAB would add 1.5x50 and the overall power would be 100 (50x1.5 + 50/2). I'm only like 60% sure though haha.

Jk, research is telling me STAB goes after Technician, so it'd be 75x1.5.

Friend Safari issue o_o

I've finally found a Gyarados safari, and I caught six of them -- all of which had a careful nature. I left to deposit them and re-entered, only to find another two careful ones.

Do safari Pokemon only have one particular nature, or am I just very unlucky? Thank you ;P

PlatinumDude November 8th, 2013 5:38 PM

Did you have a Careful Synchronize Pokemon as your lead Pokemon? If a Synchronize Pokemon is in the lead slot, the odds of you encountering a Pokemon of the Synchronizer's nature are increased.

Marionz November 8th, 2013 5:42 PM

either you're missing something like you have a syncro in your lead party or you're just unlucky... check if you have a syncro lead party and/or keep trying :)

Eruption November 8th, 2013 5:46 PM

Thanks for taking the time to research that one. :)

The rule for breeding with TMs, from what I've read, is:

"The Pokémon will start with any TM or HM moves (and in Crystal, Move Tutor moves) that the father knows and the baby can also learn by machine."

I have a male Helioptile with Volt Switch and I'm breeding it with a Ditto. The resulting child does not have Volt Switch. If I breed that same Helioptile with a female Helioptile with Volt Switch, then the child does, in fact, have Volt Switch.

Is this expected?

Starting from XY, TM moves like Ice Beam and Volt Switch are no longer Egg Moves like from the previous Generations.
Therefore even if their parents knows the TM moves, the babies will NOT have them.
So you can just hatch the Eggs and have them learn the TM moves instead.

Rabski_Melt November 8th, 2013 11:29 PM

Wow man...thanks for that one :) :(, thats a load though. So the only way to get froakie to learn ice beam is with a tm? There is only one tm ice beam per game though right?

Yes. You get one from Wulfric after you beat him. Don't worry, just like in Gen V, TMs are reusable.

If I add someone's FC will their Friend Safari be added even if they don't add my FC?

They have to add your FC as well in order for the Friend Safari to be opened to you.

Anyone have trouble with using Gamechat? It seems that everytime I try to enable it, it just ends up stopping the trade/battle that I agreed to.

Question about the Destiny Knot. Is the idea that you get a perfect IV ditto and then just go to town? Its an appealing idea to me. I caught a shiny yanma from a hord, and was thinking if i could trade that for a perfect iv ditto.

Pangoro November 9th, 2013 11:05 AM

im having a bit of a problem, Im trying to get Substiute TM from the npc in Anister but she keeps telling me to come back to marrow at a differnt time. Iv been trying this for a week now.... Iv only ever got the Flamthrower Tm from her.. is there sertin times i need to talk to her?
I didnt have this problem on my Y version so im kinda confused.

pukacho November 9th, 2013 11:06 AM

A few quick questions:

1. I raise most of my Pokémon to level 100 for competitive play. Is it worth it now with normal rules? Since you can actually fight 6 on 6 and everyone is automatically defaulted to level 50, if your pokemon is ev maxed out, is there any point to wasting a few hours getting them to l100?

2. Does your substitute carry over with Baton Pass?

3. What's the best way to counter the move Destiny Bond?

You meant to say the Bad Egg, right?
There is no certain percentage...
For in-game trade I suggest you to go for GTS and stop doing Wonder Trade until the problem is solved.
You can also trade with other members here on PC.

You don't have to, but it's totally up to you! If it was me, then I definitely would. I mean, why not? Once you're done with getting them to level one-hundred, you wouldn't have to train them any longer, so, yeah.

Yes, Substitute does get passed down with Baton Pass. (: Be careful, though; while you're moving it over to another Pokémon, the opponent may attack you and break the Substitute.

Only way to counter Destiny Bond would be by taking down your via status effects, such as poison and burn. For example, if the opponent's burned and at a very low health and manages to use Destiny Bond, and you use a move like Protect to stall them, they will immediately be fainted the next turn—cancelling the Destiny Bond effect.

Anyone else having problems getting Aggronite/Tyranitarite??

I have Pokemon Y. I beat the Elite 4, battled my rival, talked to Sycamore, touched the rock, got my mega ring upgraded, waited till 8:05 p.m. and still cannot get Aggronite!!!! What am I doing wrong. I read that messing with your 3DS clock prevents timed things from happening in Pokemon for 24 hours, but I changed my clock 2 days ago for daylight savings time. So what could be the reason??

how do i get the comet shard from the old man on anistar? i already stored my lvl 1 tyrunt 2 weeks ago and he still havent give my pokemon back with the shard

Hey! I just started here on this forum so I don't have any profile yet but what I want to ask is that is a Goodra with nature that lowers Sp. Def. and raises Speed too bad to use, when I couldn't find any better? I like to battle with my friends so a good Pokemon is always better! I'd like to know if there's too much difference and is it still worth it to evolve it and train it? .... Oh, and it's a shiny. ;)

just keep that Shiny Goodra as a collection or bragging use hen! {XD}
A recommended Special offensive Goodra nature is Modest and Timid, while Calm or Sassy for a defensive one. :)

Hmm… I'm not sure, exactly. o: Have you beaten the Elite Four yet? If not, then you should. Before defeating the Elite Four, I gave a Pikachu to him. When I was done, I returned to his house for a visit. Didn't find him, though; there was only a Poké Ball left on the desk. It contained the Pikachu I had given him earlier, and it was holding Comet Shard. If you beat Pokémon League, maybe the same will happen to you? If you've defeated them once already, then try again.

I had a shiny Sliggoo with the same thrash nature (and bad ivs)... i traded it over to the GTS for a bad Zapdos :) I am now happy with my calm Gooey goodra

NRG November 10th, 2013 6:52 AM

pokemon village dittos may have any number of perfect IVs to pass on: 0 -6.

dittos from a friend safari have a guaranteed minimum of 2 perfect ivs so 2-6.

A pokemon can only produce a perfect 6 IV child if there are at least 3 unique perfect IVs between the parents (as 3 IVs are selected at random and copied, (5 with destiny knot)). The rest is up to breeding strategy and luck.

Perfect 6 IVs takes a really long time. I go for 5.

Example: charizard y, all special attacks: no need to have perfect attack.

Aeroblast November 10th, 2013 7:18 AM

It depends. If you don't get lucky, it'll have 0 perfect IVs, which means it's worthless for breeding.

Exitosus November 10th, 2013 8:35 AM

what i like to do it get 5 - 5 perfect IVs pokemon which doesnt take long.. 3-5 hours max...than your perfect 6 comes within 1-2 hours.

But like that other guy said dont need perfect 6.

With my ferrothorn i only needed perfect 4.

Okay, not sure if this is a quick question, but it's most certainly a question, so here goes:
Every time that I try to trade or wonder trade or battle over the internet, I keep getting a communication error. While seeking a partner for battle or wonder trade, it'll just say "Oh, we couldn't find you a partner." But, when I try with a friend over internet(by using friend codes) or if I try to request a passerby and they accept, I always get the following error:
Failed to connect with the other trainer, please start again from the beginning.
I have used Google already, and all that I've gotten are people complaining about the same problem, but without a solution.
Here are some notes:
~I can do GTS trades fine and dandy! In fact, I use GTS often.
~My router is a Linksys EA4500
~I have tried using Nintedo Live Support, but the guy at the other end basically helped me up to a certain point, and then he disconnected abruptly. He mentioned something about a firewall...
~I traded and battled online in my BW/B2W2 games easily and without issue. I could NOT do trades or battles over wifi in the Gen IV games though(D/P/Pt/HG/SS).
~Battles with a nearby person or trades with a nearby person, such as my irl friends go by smoothly.

So...what do I do to fix this?

Dizzie November 10th, 2013 2:57 PM

I am trying to get some wild haunters with decent stats to IV breeding, when I took one to the hidden power guy to find its Hidden.... it was Ghost.

All the stat calculators say Ghost/Ghost is impossible... is this a bug or a new feature?

Does your router have a built-in firewall that is interfering with communications? I turn mine off and use firewalls on my pcs.

-add a static ip for your 3ds
-make sure you allow incoming connections to your 3ds machines (aka, port-forward for it)
-make sure your router/wifi repeater uses channel 1 or 11 (not the default 6 however)
-make a power reset on your router
Did it help?

If you are using the old calculator(a la Gen V) then you might get that inaccurate result.
Or either you might accidently insert the wrong number.

Maximize your style, do it by cutting your hair, asking Alexa for directions, working at the hotel!
To determine if you have your style max there are two ways:
  • Go to the Evolution Stone Shop, there is an old man NPC who sells a Mega Stone. If you have your style maxed, he should sell the mega stone for $10,000.
  • Go to Cafe Intorversion, at South Boulevard:bottom half of Lumiose City., if you see the O-Power man, he will give you the Hatching O-Power. In other words, you have your style maximized! ;)

Pokerus can be spread to your whole team, as long as they did not have it before!
Remember to save one to your Storage Box! Happy spreading the disease! >:)

Elite 4 Character Styles

So I've seen a few people in my passer by screen that have the character styles of the elite 4. For example someone with the face and clothing of Siebold. I was wondering how they did this?

Ferroseed and Ferrothorn

Is there any way to find out which ferroseed will evolve into a ferrothorn with the hidden ability anticipation?
If not i think this is real stupid move by gamefreak, i want an iron barb ferrothorn and ended up with anticipation...tough luck :(

I only just realised it has a hidden ability now, doh!

Well, only Friend Safari and Horde catches can result in a hidden ability. So your best bet is to catch a Ferroseed from Glittering or Reflection Cave and train it from there - they should keep the Iron Barbs ability one they evolve.

You have to beat the E4 first and then you can set them too.I think it is in the pss settings.

What would be a good nature and ev spread for my future Magnezone? I plan on using this set:
- Thunderbolt (necessary STAB move)
- Thunder Wave (gotta have it, can't rely on thunderbolt)
- Volt Switch (to get me out of trouble)
- Magnet Bomb (to hit those pesky Fairy pokes, most of which are weak on the defensive side)

Flushed November 11th, 2013 6:26 PM

General question, does it make a difference at what level you evolve a Pokemon stat wise? Say I train a Pikachu to lv. 100, and then evolve it, as opposed to evolving at lv. 1. Will the Raichus' stats differ?

Imo, Magnezone doesn't seem like a mixed attacker to me, its Special Attack is far superior to its Attack. Thus I suggest a Modest nature (which would lower your ATK, thus this is a Specially focused Magnezone). Switch out Magnet Bomb for Flash Cannon. I realize that a lot of the Fairies are Sp. Def oriented, but idk Magnezone doesn't seem like the Physical attacker. Just my opinion. Most EV spreads go max Sp.A, and Speed.
