What To Do With Useless Pokemon?

What do you guys do with useless Pokemon (such as Dunsparce) that clog up your PC? I know that abandoning them is a possible solution but I always feel really, really bad doing that.

dscottobrien1 October 12th, 2013 5:13 PM

I just leave em in the PC. when PokeBank comes out, ill just dump em there and let em rot

jcl October 12th, 2013 5:18 PM

Aww that's kinda mean. Sorry if this sounds like a noob question but what is Pokebank?

BakingBluePotatoe October 12th, 2013 5:34 PM

The PokeBank/Pokemon Bank is a 3ds app coming out in december to transfer Pokemon from older games, as well as be basically be a Cloud Storage Box system (like Pokemon Box/Pokemon Ranch) for the yearly fee of 5$ a month

KittenKoder October 12th, 2013 5:39 PM

Keep them for trades. Someone is always looking for a pokemon that you don't like, always. I breed and trade them just like all the others, I just don't use them in battle. Though honestly, I don't find any pokemon useless because of that.

BroChickaBowWow October 12th, 2013 6:38 PM

i just dump all the useless ones in 1 box. when all the other boxes get filled up, i release 'em. or use gts trade center. although that never works haha.

Aeroblast October 12th, 2013 7:56 PM

I just dump them in the box. I've never really had all the boxes full anyways so just keep them.

Or you could trade them over Wonder Trade if they really are a hassle. :P

Altair October 13th, 2013 11:06 AM

I keep them in a box called 'Extra' and that's if I have a double of that Pokemon. I organize my Pokemon in boxes by their National Dex number...

Kikaito plush October 13th, 2013 11:19 AM

I release them after I have caught them as I only keep pokemon I want to use in battle.

Hatsuharu October 13th, 2013 12:43 PM

Since Wonder Trade exists in X and Y, I always always send 'em over to someone. I know what you get back might not be that good, the possibility of getting a Pokemon you actually want is better than just releasing unwanted Pokemon.

Zorogami October 13th, 2013 2:10 PM

Box them, leave em, thats pretty much about it

PlatinumDude October 13th, 2013 2:33 PM

I just leave my useless Pokemon in the PC.

pompayyy October 13th, 2013 2:59 PM

(god, I now realize that people hate dunsparce :() I usually only catch pokemon I like, but if there's a useless one that a friend wants, I'll be more than happy to catch it just to trade it.

WhiteKnightL October 13th, 2013 3:03 PM

I keep them in my boxes and use them for casual battling every once in a while.

Palmer-Granate October 13th, 2013 4:15 PM

Useless? If by that, you mean 'partners I seldom use', I just leave em in the PC, the lowest levels, when I sort my pc (excluding the earliest editions, cuz sorting is frustrating when you withdraw/deposit for 10 min straight) I put all the lowest levels at the front, and sort from there. The further down the Boxes you go, you'll end up seeing my legends and my strongest partners, excluding the lucky six I use on an all-too regular basis.

KawaiiFutureFriend October 13th, 2013 4:16 PM

Well, I'm going to have to say that I love using the underused and really awful Pokémon as my main team members. I dunno, call it some weird part of me, but I love using terrible Pokémon, I consider it a challenge and a real huge amount of dedication worth giving.

Sydian October 13th, 2013 4:57 PM

I only catch Pokemon I plan on using. I may not use them immediately, but I do try to use them at some point in the game, whether for HMs or Pokedex purposes. That being said, I don't really end up with "useless" Pokemon in my PC.

Orifiel October 13th, 2013 6:30 PM

I evolve them to last stage then leave them to PC.
Still, before leaving them to PC, they were useful. So, no hard feelings.

There we go, finally someone else kinda does what I do! I don't feel so left out. Just remember that Feebas evolves into an amazing Milotic. I always wanted a Milotic. Maybe one of these days I'll use Feebas. Either way ... somehow I got sidetracked and your post reminded me about that. So thanks~

Hikamaru October 13th, 2013 7:10 PM

I still catch them and evolve them for Pokedex data, then dump them in the PC.

Blasphemous, Dunsparce is awesome!

...Why couldn't they give him an evolution! ;-;

I just don't catch them or box them forever, or release them so they're registered on my dex as captured.

mozartm99 October 13th, 2013 8:53 PM

TO THE BOX FROM WHENCE YEE CAME!!!!!!

But seriously, I tend not to catch useless pokemon.

Firox October 14th, 2013 12:43 AM

I catch them so they can register in my Pokedex, in the next nearby town I release them back in the wild.

Majority of my boxes are empty, I just keep the Pokemon I will need for trade (between one of my Pokemon games to another - as I don't have WiFi), or breeding

Or for rotation, we can only have 6 Pokemon at a time, sometimes I like to give other Pokemon a try so I keep them around, the Pokemon I like I will leave temporarily in the PC and give the new Pokemon a try. If it doesn't work out with the new Pokemon it will get released back in the wild.

Pendraflare October 14th, 2013 1:55 AM

Some of the Pokémon I catch early on I don't like to release for some reason. =(

But others i'll get rid of eventually if necessary. If i'm trying to complete my Pokédex or something, then my boxes will be pretty packed.

fix
Not month a year only $5 a year

Pínk October 17th, 2013 1:44 PM

No Pokémon is useless!~

D=

Natnew October 17th, 2013 3:20 PM

I have a box labeled "BOXoFAME" (text limits) to keep things like team members I don't have anymore (i.e. kricketune), legendaries (palkia), rare pokemon (drifbloon), my fav. pokemon (shedinja), or shinies (none so far)

Murkrow October 17th, 2013 4:37 PM

how about...try using them for once? dunsparce is NOT useless, with coil roost glare it can wreck anything ingame very easily.

in fact for ingame everything can be used, while competitively every pokemon can be used in their respective tiers as well.

pokemon-hack October 20th, 2013 9:31 AM

i keep mine in the pc. just for decoration purpose.

Mystify October 20th, 2013 10:38 PM

I keep them in the PC and sometimes I'll find a purpose for them. I had a shiny Meowth in White that I didn't think would be very great for competitive battling or anything like that but I spent time leveling her up and keeping her in my party so she could use her Pickup ability to find items. All depends on the Pokémon. I don't think any are completely useless.

Satoshi Ookami October 20th, 2013 10:54 PM

I never had box problems so I leave them in the box (Team Plasma will find me...)

Brendino October 20th, 2013 11:14 PM

When I was younger I just tried catching every Pokemon that I saw and didn't already have, and let a majority of them just sit in the box for eternity.

Now that I don't really care about completing the Pokedex anymore, I'll only catch the Pokemon I know that I'm going to use for at least a little while, otherwise I just see it as wasting Poke Balls. Sure, there are some I'll get through different things like the GTS and the Safari Zone that I don't really plan on using, but those Pokemon are few and far between now compared to before. My last look at HeartGold for example, I had only 2 1/2 boxes full of Pokemon after hundreds of hours played, whereas on my original Sapphire I had to start releasing Pokemon because I had way too many in my PC (this led to me inadvertently finding that I had a shiny Shroomish in one of my boxes, though).

PkmnTrainerElio October 21st, 2013 1:11 AM

I leave mine in the PC, or I might even chuck them to another trainer, but, I would never, ever let mine rot... I'm surprised there aren't any PeTA like people in the games... They'd have you jailed!

Decimosoma October 21st, 2013 2:27 AM

I have never had useless Pokémon. And I have catch a ton of them.
I just know how to use them to it's fullest potential, even if it's just one small purpose.
Any Pokémon can be useless, even legendaries. Hard work and effort could change the general opinion on a certain Pokémon. Remember that.

NotThatOneAgain October 21st, 2013 3:23 PM

Dunsparce is not useless. It has high HP and OK defenses. Can be used as a bulk/staller if used correctly.

Unown is useless.

Train them, enjoy them, experiment and have som fun in the E4.

NRG November 3rd, 2013 3:32 PM

If i kept every useless pokemon I hatched I'd have no room in the pc! I usually release them but occasionally I'll wonder trade a few charmanders or w/e

Batty November 3rd, 2013 3:55 PM

If you have a Pokemon with you that you don't want, Wonder Trade it.

acatfrommars November 18th, 2013 12:00 PM

Most pokemon I can find something to do with them, but if they're extremely useless (like level 1 magikarp) then I either leave them in my PC or just let them go.

fireflystorm November 18th, 2013 2:48 PM

I never did serious breeding or catching in previous games so I never had issues before, but now I have never enough boxes... So I normally release them, sad as that may be. That goes primarily for things I know people would never want, like Lv. 30 Bibarel (no HA) or like, Lv. 3 Pansear. When it comes to things that are a little cooler or version exclusives (Vivillon, a ton of Noibats, Clawitzers and such) I keep them in trade boxes, which I fill with stuff I want to use as trade barter or wonder trades. I always feel a little bad about the ones I release but I guess that's the price we pay. @[email protected]

AuraKnight95 November 18th, 2013 3:14 PM

I usually release the Pokemon that are completely useless to me...and honestly I've never felt bad about it.

But now that I see people say that they feel bad for releasing Pokemon, I feel bad for never feeling bad. o:

MylittlePlusle November 30th, 2013 6:29 AM

For some reason, I don't release any of my Pokemon in X/Y... I'm a hoarder...

Hiatus December 3rd, 2013 7:35 PM

I usually put them into my PC and never look at them again, haha. If someone wants them, though, then I would have no problem giving it away to them. When I was younger, I used to have a lot of filler Pokémon in my PC boxes. Now, though, it's not really the same anymore. I do end up catching a few random Pokémon every now and then (just for fun), but most of the time, I catch Pokémon only if I absolutely need them. d:

The Ruby Of The Sea December 9th, 2013 1:41 PM

I don't like releasing pokemon, but when I get doubles or pokemon I'm not going to use much anymore, then I use Wonder Trade

s0nido December 9th, 2013 2:47 PM

I just leave them in the PC. Occasionally, someone will want to give away a Pokemon to me, so I just use these "useless" Pokemon to trade off to them. If I ever end up filling my PC box to the max, I'll probably just release all the extra Pokemon that I've accumulated to make space for more Pokemon.

By abandoning do you mean releasing them? Because I usually release any abundance of pokemon I don't plan on keeping. I let them roam free in the wild just like they were doing before I imprisoned them in a tiny ball. And I find sentiment in that more than I do if they were collecting dust.

Miracle Seed December 9th, 2013 6:35 PM

I wouldn't call the pokemon in my PC useless. I caught them for a reason, right? If I have decent doubles, I trade them to friends or via WT

Sheep December 9th, 2013 7:36 PM

I leave them in the PC. We (usually) have more than enough room to store all the available Pokemon and more so there's really no reason for me to release them. I collect everything no matter how useless!

antemortem December 9th, 2013 7:39 PM

'Useless' isn't in my vocabulary. I don't think I've ever released a Pokemon. I don't really see the point when I have plenty of PC storage. :(

curiousnathan December 9th, 2013 8:05 PM

I either release them or leave them to gather dust in my PC box. :P

TwilightBlade December 9th, 2013 8:07 PM

D^: My first XY capture was like a... Dunsparce, lol. I wonder if I deleted it or Wonder Traded it away, haha. I'm a bad person lately! My Y filled up so fast with breeding projects so I may have... released some of my captures. <.<

I usually keep a box called "Wild" that holds some of the early Pokemon I caught during the story. I only keep them around for sentimental reasons.

Rintaro Tachibana December 20th, 2013 5:41 AM

Personal challenge of mine, but what i do with my "useless"pokemon is raise them till their level 90-100. I admit it becomes quite dull at times, but it keeps me busy when I'm bored
