Tips

Kalos region is expensive that every service needs a tip. So far, there's no benefits of giving tips therefore I'm wondering, do you give tips?

Seriously, every dang person you talked to asks for tips. I only give $100 tips since everything in Kalos is expensive, especially the clothes.

Everything is money-oriented in Kalos but at least it's not like the previous where they ask you 50 berries.

I gave a tip to the dude who sings in the Parfum Palace, but not to the photographer. I probably won't until we get a confirmation whether tips actually do anything other than make us waste money. Or I don't know, until I get rich and can actually afford giving tips in the game ^_^

I've heard from several guys on different forums (but i cannot confirm 100%) that giving tips increase shiny pokemon appearence rate.

I tip the most every time and still not sighted a shiny :P I must be unlucky.

Tsutarja October 13th, 2013 10:32 AM

I've given tips a few times to restaurants and to the photographer, and apparently that increased my luck to get me a Shiny Hippopotas.

Guy October 13th, 2013 4:14 PM

lol no I need all the money I have for buying new clothes and accessories.

Azire October 13th, 2013 4:18 PM

I've only given one tip to the Singer at the palace. $1000.

photonman555 October 17th, 2013 2:41 AM

giving tips to everyone

has anyone else noticed how there's the option to tip people everywhere from phil the photo guy, to random people you give you information?

Sun October 17th, 2013 2:59 AM

Just like in real life, it depends my mood. :P
Though if I find it amusing I will give the biggest amount. :)
Like the guy in Courmaline City. :')

abcde123456 October 17th, 2013 4:10 AM

I've only given a tip twice. Once to the photographer because I thought he'll give me something extra :P The other time was a $1000 tip to the guy who played Unwavering Emotions.

Azire October 17th, 2013 4:41 AM

I've tipped a lot more since my last post, anybody that asks I give the max. If you score perfect in the restaurant battles they give you an option to tip $10,000. So of course I gave that. So far I've noticed no rewards but it's not like I'm hurting for money. I've even bought things for my character like the Down Jacket for $120,000.

Guy October 17th, 2013 2:58 PM

So I've started giving tips on occasion as I've heard it increases your odds of encountering a shiny. Not sure how much credibility there is to that rumor, but I've had no such luck.

blue October 17th, 2013 3:02 PM

I used to give small tips occasionally to those who asked, I'd give $100 and $500 but that's about it. However since reading about the alleged Shiny ratio increase, I've been giving $1,000 at every opportunity I get!

Jett311 October 17th, 2013 3:08 PM

I guess its about time I start giving tips lol.

Azire October 17th, 2013 3:20 PM

Does anybody know where the Shiny rumor started? Any website or anything we can look at? So far it's been word of mouth lol.

iRyahn October 17th, 2013 3:31 PM

I've gotten a shiny from Friend Safari without ever giving any tips. If anything I think they increased the rate inside of the safari to find shinies. The tip rumour doesn't sound right to me.

Tipping

Well, most of you should know this, but you have the option tipping people (such as waiters and such) in Pokemon X and Y. I don't think it was in B2W2, so my question is:

do you tip? How much? Why?

Also, what does it do? if anyone knows?

I don't tip people, just because i like to spend money on accessories instead!

Broly_Mickey October 18th, 2013 3:20 AM

boost's the game's invisible moral system.

metalhand October 18th, 2013 3:49 AM

I don't tip, it just useless and rather spend my money on items and clothes.

Sabrewulf238 October 18th, 2013 3:51 AM

The only benefit I've seen is you get a medal on the global link for tipping generously.

She_Delphox October 18th, 2013 3:52 AM

I did tip someone ONCE, 100 yen, just to check what would happen... But yeah nothing much though, so generally I don't tip in the game, but I wanted to try this one (I was like, meh what could happen... Maybe an item? No? ow...)

So... back to spending money on fashionable hats, bags and clothes for me! ^_^

abcde123456 October 18th, 2013 3:52 AM

Gave a tip to the guy who plays that song in Coumarine City and to the girl who plays that song in Snowbelle City. $1000 each for making me remember those wonderful times playing those games.

HairyLoco October 18th, 2013 4:00 AM

I always tip $1000, I don't really mind since I always make sure to have at least $200k...

Hiatus October 18th, 2013 4:17 AM

According to rumors, tipping people increases your chance of encountering shiny Pokémon quite a bit. I don't know if I should. actually believe it though, as it hasn't been confirmed yet. I've given tips to about three to four people so far, one was a guy in Parfum Palace who sings you a song. But unfortunately, I haven't been able run into any shinies at all. Well, I did encounter a shiny once, but that was at the beginning of the game—before I handed out any tips to anyone. d: It was a shiny Litleo. I wasn't able to capture it, though, because I accidentally made it faint when trying to weaken it. I wouldn't have decided to hurt it in the first place, but I had a very limited amount of Poké Balls with me at that time (only three), and if I simply just wasted them all, then chances of me having it captured would've been dropped to zero. :(

If this is so, then I am still unlucky, however I did encounter a Shiny Pidgey - that was before the first tip rolled out.
Ever since the first tip I have always tipped, and since I started gaining money quickly it's always been $1000 as well.
