Jessie October 15th, 2013 7:44 AM

On Saturday I played for about 11 hours and got through the third gym. That was still a bit fast for my taste because I like to try to take my time with the game...talk to everyone, explore every nook, catch lots of Pokemon...right now I'm sitting at 20 hours and 5 badges.

My fiance, on the other hand, flew through his game. I think he's beaten it at around 18 hours.

Killjoy October 15th, 2013 7:52 AM

I just got to victory road at about 23 hours, but I rushed through a lot of it. I'm planning on starting the game over later today, and could see taking double that time on my next play through

Faye Rose~ October 15th, 2013 8:05 AM

I got it 9am Saturday and beat the main story at noon on Sunday. Game time was 19 hours upon completion.

HairyLoco October 15th, 2013 8:20 AM

Put it this way, I rushed Pokémon Black and completed it in 17 hours.

Now I'm taking my time and 39 and a half ours in, I have five badges.
There's enough to do to "kill time" and still make progress in a way.

Hidden307 October 15th, 2013 9:16 AM

I am at 10 hours through the games at 7 badges so far. I should be getting my 8th pretty soon. Should beat the Elite Four sometime tonight after work. :D

bassnerd October 15th, 2013 9:50 AM

As of right now I have around 11.5 hours logged. I am about to challenge Korrina, but before then I want to level up my Pokemon since my whole team is around 30 right now, and I definitely do not want to lose. I haven't lost a single battle since I first started the game - not about to now!
So that being said, I'm taking it slow. I also find myself running a lot of the side 'quests', such as taking care of the berry farm, and enjoying all the small details and easter eggs. ^^ Great game, it really does feel short though.

True.. It did seem extremely short to me, finished in 3 days (and I rarely ever finish games), but I had the (Canadian) thanksgiving so I got to marathon it for an entire long weekend. I've never done that with any Pokemon game before, I usually only get an hour or two a day to play them on my commute.

So the game isn't that short I guess, but it certainly seems like there is a lot less content than there was in BW2... I'm betting Z and/or the Hoenn remakes will have a LOT more content.

seeker October 15th, 2013 11:31 AM

Woah, really? How are people finished the main story within 6 hours? I've been playing for 20 and I still only have 3 badges. I'm actually taking my time to catch and train my Pokémon, as well as do as many side-quests and exploring as possible. Not to mention lots of fun with Wonder Trading. I haven't even spent much time in Pokémon Amie or Super Training either. I think you're ruining the experience if you rush through a new Pokémon game to see the ending; as it's about the journey, not the end. Especially with Pokémon.

I feel it's a bit of a waste to rush through just to see the story. It's much more fun to stop and sniff the flowers along the way, and if you're worried about post-game, there's a lot of new features alone just to play with.

I realized I can't do that - I keep rushing off even though I tell myself to take things slow.

Now that I am done though, I should be going through the whole region slowly to catch Pokemons.

Toast1229 October 15th, 2013 3:46 PM

I'm a good 4-ish hours into the game, got the 4th gym badge. Poke amie is SOOOOO distracting and fun!

FireOfExile October 15th, 2013 4:03 PM

Over 50 hours and I don't have the 2nd badge yet. I spent a ton of time trading, using Pokemon Amie and the Super Training as well as battling passerbys.

TheMightyShore October 15th, 2013 4:07 PM

I beat it too. It really did feel like a breeze. I only lost to a trainer once the entire way through. Needless to say my character was loaded with cash by the end. With so few new Pokemon to catch and a three month wait til bank comes out... i am not sure what to do.

Rivvon October 15th, 2013 5:57 PM

I beat it yesterday, but I wasn't rushing. I beat it with around 56-58 hours put in, despite getting it day one. I do feel the main story was a bit on the short side, but it didn't feel rushed, so I can't say I have complaints on the length. The post-game quests, while also short, were nice enough that they made up for the shortness of the story.

Amaai October 15th, 2013 7:03 PM

I'm at the elite four, But haven't challenge them yet. I may try to hunt for shinies and fossil pokemon to trade.

Hermione Granger October 15th, 2013 7:30 PM

I'm @ 24 hrs. and 20 minutes as of this post. I'm in the early parts of victory road. I am going to say this is by far one of my top favorite pokemon games of all time, I have Y, but plan on getting pokemon x. If you ask me I think the 1st 2 generations has the shortest storylines.

Lugia16 October 15th, 2013 7:49 PM

This game is short as hell i beat y in one day and i'm almost done with X.

Hermione Granger October 15th, 2013 9:24 PM

I have officially beat the main story part of the game.

Deokishisu October 15th, 2013 10:15 PM

I thought the game was pretty short, and I talked to everyone I met and went in every house. Well... except for Lumiose City. That place is so huge that I'm STILL finding places that I haven't been in yet. But I certainly love exploring it! Once I unlocked the entirety of the city, I spent an hour and a half just walking around, talking to everyone, and exploring every alleyway. They did such a great job on that city.

But yeah, I thought that I was taking my time. I was taking in the sights, catching every Pokemon I saw, I even went out of my way to beat every Trainer and I STILL finished it faster than the other installments in the series, which is saying a lot seeing as I knew nothing about the region's layout or the plot and basically went into this generation blind. I'm excited to go out and buy Y so I can go through that with the knowledge I gained playing through X so I can really gauge how well Gamefreak did this time around. Playing through a Pokemon game is like reading a book. You have to go through twice to really see and appreciate it.

xRekke October 15th, 2013 10:31 PM

Took 14:53 to defeat the elite 4 + champion ~

But there are still a lot of things to do after the champion ~

Camara October 16th, 2013 4:56 AM

When I conquered the second badge I had 20 hours of game.
I became champion after 57 hours.

This is normal as I trained most of the new pokémon, I didn't want to read anything from the internet but discover it myself.
So of course most of the time was wasted in leveling my big "available" team, ditching some through the road but picking up others. At some times I had like 15 pokémon to chose from to battle :D

People really should try not to use EXP Share. It makes the game more challenging and takes more time. I have actually been defeated by a random trainer (Hawlucha is a heck of a lot stronger than it appears) and the first two gym leaders. I did sweep the whole 3rd gym with Honedge though.

I took 10 hours to get to the 3rd gym as well..Unfortunately the game gets quicker after the 5th badge, no side quests and the team flare doesnt have much impact...i tried to play extremely slow but i ended up beating the game in 35 hours, pokemon were level 85 and only had 5 the elite four was extremely easy...

Hatsuharu October 16th, 2013 5:16 AM

I don't understand how some of you have 4-5 gym badges within 5 hours.. that's just absolutely crazy to me. I'm about twelve hours in and JUST scored my second gym badge- I guess that's about my normal pace? I've spent a good hour or so just in Wonder Trades, and another good forty-five minutes in Amie and Super Training each respectively.

I also spent about a solid hour and a half being lost... ^-^;

But yeah, I'd say with the new features such as WT'ing, Amie, Super Training, not to mention the way the meeting trainers over Wi-Fi thing works.. even if there isn't a whole lot of post-game content, there's certainly enough to keep you occupied.

Troblems October 16th, 2013 1:23 PM

I've kind of been racing through, I've gotten Yveltal. I'm at about 24 hours, but I tend to leave my DS running while I get distracted by real life without closing the cover. I've not found the story to be all that engaging, however theoretically, the game is for kids. Honestly, what's interested me the most is the clothing, which is why I will probably keep playing for a while yet.

And I did my best to capture every pokemon I could and explore every nook of the game.

Extremely disappointed with how short the game was

Maybe it was easy because you used too many OP as hell pokemon?
