What's your favorite Pokemon type?

Leave your favorite type and give a reason why.

I like Ice types because I like cold weather and that's my personality.

I like Dragon types because they're just awesome, and they can learn a wide variety of moves.

Mobile Suit Articuno October 20th, 2013 7:07 AM

My favourite types are:
Ice
Dark
Psychic
And the newcomer Fairy (it has a lot of potential)

Kariyuki October 20th, 2013 7:10 AM

Favorite types:
Electric
Dragon
Fire
Dark
and probably a little bit of Fairy...

NavyBlue October 20th, 2013 8:19 AM

I'd have to say...
Water, 'cause I just love them.
Grass, cool and fast.
Dark, because DARKNESSSSS
Maybe a hint of Fairy, it's better than expected.

pokemon-hack October 20th, 2013 9:25 AM

mine fire, because of charizard.
ice because of articuno
electric because of pikachu
and dragon because of dragonite

Firox October 20th, 2013 10:25 AM

My favorite types I guess I'd choose since that's the main types that my favorite Pokemon are (normal: Watchog, Linoone, Furret, fighting: Mienfoo, Mienshao, water: Dewott, Buizel, Floatzel), using them a lot, I learned to like the type that they where. After a while I started using different Pokemon of the types I like and I was surprised that I actually loved the types - which ones are they?

Normal - it's my absolute favorite type of Pokemon, and they can learn a variety of attacks (usually via TM) of other types.

Fighting - it was thanks to Mienfoo that really got me into using fighting types, really enjoy using them with combined with other types - It's why I love and prefer double or triple battles the most.

Water - 3 most favorite attacks (Aqua Tail - Surf - Razor Shell) are water types, and loving sea-otters is another reason why I also prefer water types.

Dakotah October 20th, 2013 10:30 AM

Water, but not because of the characteristics of the Pokemon. Rather it's because I've always been someone who's loved the sea. Probably had something to do with the many trips to Norway I took with my family to see my uncle and going out on his boat.

NecroPhysics October 20th, 2013 10:34 AM

Dark and Psychic because I love magic-y kinds of things in games and I guess those types are the closest to it (also they look awesome!)

And I guess a bit of Fairy too since it seems like the new OP (seriously though, create a new type to balance out Dragon and yet give that type only two weaknesses with them being some of the lesser used types ¬.¬)

Goatie October 20th, 2013 10:38 AM

Water.

Yeah, not grass! Surprised? Your favorite type and pokémon can be different!

Anyhow.. I really like the water type.. It tends to be super effective on often hard hitting ground and fire types and I guess I should add that I've always picked the water starter in every generation.

*Icecold* October 20th, 2013 11:31 AM

The Normal type. It's looked down upon because "a lot of the Pokémon are too basic" and "they never have a place on people's teams".

Normal types will always have a place on your team because they're so versatile. They can learn tons of moves of different types. If you want an Electric type but are too lazy to chase down a Pikachu, teach your Linoone Shock Wave. If you need to train up a Psychic type for the next gym but don't have to time to grind up that underleveled Ralts in your PC, just teach your Chansey Psychic and you're done.

Also, they're very common and that comes in handy. Instead of searching all over for some rarity, I can catch a Linoone instead and teach it some of the same moves that the rare Pokémon can learn.

So what if they're stats aren't as high as Pokémon like Garchomp or Salamence? They're good enough for me. Not to mention, I'm perfectly fine with a good challenge and don't like it when things are too easy. A team of relatively "weaker" Pokémon will makes things interesting. Finally, wouldn't you feel prouder beating the champion of a region with a team of Pokémon that people claim are weak, useless and boring? Wouldn't it feel good to prove them all wrong?

sh1nyzorua October 20th, 2013 6:35 PM

Psychic, Dark, and Fire.
Psychic because it's always been really good for me, my Psychic type Pokemon Espeon and Slowbro are really strong, Dark because there are a lot of really cute Dark type Pokemon like Zorua and Houndour and Honchkrow. . . Fire type because I just think it's awesome. Burn everything down!! Mwhahaha. . .

LordGilbunny October 22nd, 2013 9:14 AM

Bug.

I like bug type pokemon mainly because they are underrated and they are actually very good in battle. Bug type pokemon also evolve quickly so they get stronger faster.

Galvantula is my favorite bug type because of the type coverage it has. Electric counters the Flying types(One of bugs weaknesses) and the Water types. Bug counters the Dark, Psychic and Grass types.

Ephemeral Euphoria October 22nd, 2013 9:19 AM

I like water types because the designs for most of them have captivated me to no end in sight back when I was a kid. And yes I know that sounds really creepy lol.

Nomine October 22nd, 2013 9:49 AM

I have three favourites: Ice, Steel, and Rock. I prefer those types since they aren't very commonly used. Ever since my Walrein/Aggron/Cradily combo back in R/S/E, I've always enjoyed having those types on my team.

Blastin'Tyruntz October 22nd, 2013 10:08 AM

I have a few myself, now that gen6 is out i have a different list than before:

1.Fire. My absolute number 1 spot, no doubt. I just love most of the fire-type designs. And their moves are super-powerful too.

2.Water. Yeah i know "it can beat fire why is it second?" Well lemme say just one word:Luvdisc.

3.Fairy. I could never think of something more hilarious than to overkill a dragonite with an Azurill...YEAH.

4.Dragon. God i love them. Draco meteor must be one of the greatest of all times.

5.Dark. Umbreon,Tyranitar,Houndoom...shall i continue?

6.Ground. Except for Stunfisk, that type is crazy! Earthquake,Bulldoze,Earth power....

Snowdrop October 22nd, 2013 10:56 AM

Normal Types -- they're anything but. They're my favorite types because many of my favorite designs, including Skitty and Delcatty, are Normal. Mammals happen to be my favorite class of animals, too, and of course many Normals are mammalian. I also like the sheer diversity of the moves they can learn - I can teach my fluffy cat to bring in a blizzard or have my three-tailed bull let loose lightning from the sky. You get tons of options. Not to mention many Normal moves themselves are awesome, such as Hyper Beam, Crush Claw, and Giga Impact, just to name a few.

Other favorites of mine are Grass, Ice, Dragon, Dark, and perhaps Ground and Fairy.

My least favorite types, I guess, are Fighting and maybe Water and Bug.

Kikaito plush October 22nd, 2013 11:13 AM

my favorite types are Fighting, fire, Dark and Bug typ pokemon.

Kyeto November 1st, 2013 1:40 AM

My favourite types are Grass and Dark types. And now recently i love the fighting types.
I love how powerful and stealthy these guys can be.

Deivii November 1st, 2013 2:14 AM

Definitely Dragon, Dark and Steel.

Jessie November 1st, 2013 4:11 AM

Water and Dark types are my favorite.

Always have one of each!

Grif of Hearts November 1st, 2013 5:15 AM

One type that hasn't been mentioned yet. The Ghost type.

I've yet to find a Ghost type whose design I disliked and most of them are very versatile in their play style and tactics. An immunity to Normal and Fighting type moves is incredibly useful and their only weaknesses come in the form of Dark and other Ghost types. A quick Ghost type can easily deal with others its type with a well placed Shadow Ball/other typed move, leaving Dark types as their only real weakness.

[Lucian] November 1st, 2013 5:34 AM

The Fire type, i don't really know why that's just the type that seens most fascinating to me for some reason, and i always pick the fire story.

Marionz November 1st, 2013 5:38 AM

i voted for fire, water, grass, electric, ice, dragon, and steel... pokemons from those types appeal to me the most

Pilkie November 1st, 2013 5:38 AM

My favorite type would probably be Bug-Type but my favorite type is probably the Bug-Ghost dual-type.

Ribbon November 1st, 2013 5:50 AM

My favorite types used to be Psychic and Electric, but with the introducing of Fairy types, I'm becoming more and more interested in them. They're surprisingly bulky and hit hard as well.

Timbjerr November 1st, 2013 3:26 PM

What's your favorite Pokemon type?

It's a tossup between Poison and Dark, and Bug and Ghost round out my top four

Zero Percent November 1st, 2013 4:29 PM

I'd say electric, bug and steel would be my favorites.

Hiatus November 1st, 2013 5:40 PM

My favorite type would have to be normal. It's got no major weaknesses, other than fighting. Fighting-types may be a bit common when it comes to battling, but most normal-types has got what it takes to overcome them. Normal-type Pokémon have an immunity over ghost as well. (: Of all normal-types, my favorite would have to be Blissey. Its defenses are extremely high, and its base HP stat equals to two fifty-five, which is just phenomenal! Blissey is one the best walls in the competitive scene. Regardless of how many Draco Meteors, Fire Blasts, Overheats, or Hyper Beams that you threw at it, this Pokémon would just refuse to be taken down. Not only does Blissey make a good wall, but it's also got a ton of moves in its arsenal that make it a great supporter. Few of its most useful moves are Toxic, Thunder Wave, Wish, Protect, and Aromatherapy. With Toxic, you're able to destroy the opponent's walls quite easily. Thunder Wave—this move would allow you to slow down any Pokémon that are too quick, such as Weavile. Thanks to Wish, you could recover any of your Pokémon's health at any given time. With Protect, you have the ability to stall your opponent for an additional turn. Finally, with the aid of Aromatherapy, you could restore your team's statuses in a blink of an eye.

My second favorite normal-type would have to be Chansey. It's almost the same as Blissey, but if you make it hold an Evolite, then it could be even more defensive. Chansey doesn't have the same amount of health as Blissey, though, which sucks. ): I also like Togekiss. It's got an ability known as Serene Grace, which it could take complete advantage of by using Air Slash. Air Slash has about ten- to twenty-percent chance of flinching your opponent, and Serene Grace raises that chance even higher.

tortillamuncher November 1st, 2013 6:18 PM

Number one for me is Dragon because of their sky-high offensive stats.

Vairan November 3rd, 2013 7:21 PM

I only saw Ghost mentioned once on the first page :(
Ain't no love for the Ghosts i guess. It's ok i'll always be there for them.
Imagine my surprise and joy when i found out my safari type is also Ghost.

My secondary favorite type would have to be the Fire type. I'm a pyromaniac at heart.

Ghost-Fire? I know 5th gen had a ghost-fire type but i didn't play 5th gen :(

PumpJack November 3rd, 2013 7:51 PM

I was really into Jackie Chan films around the same time Red and Blue came out, so I instantly latched onto the Fighters. But Psychic was my absolute favourite. Alakazam was just the coolest thing ever- and I was crushing hard on Sabrina.

But then again- ALL the Pokémon would be cool to a 9 year old kid. My favourites were (and still are) Machamp, Alakazam, Pinsir, Haunter, Kabutops, and Mewtwo. I thought the Poison types like Tentacruel, Venomoth, Muk, Beedrill, and Victreebel were the ****, too.

And then Gen 2 came along and OH MY GOD THE GIANT SNAKE IS MADE OF METAL.

Steel became my new favourite because of its insane resistances- but it was weak to Fighting, so Fighting got boosted number one in my books. Psychic having slowly been dethroned sometime in the process. As the generations wore on, Psychics seemed to be getting a little overused- and so it slipped a little.

As it stands-

-Fighting
-Ghost
-Steel
-Ice

Pity, Chandelure is a pretty awesome 'mon.

Batty November 3rd, 2013 8:01 PM

My favorite Pokemon are primarily Ghost and Fairy, but Poison and Ice are favored based on their awesome moves. Honestly, I think my ultimate favorite type right now is Fairy, I like the whole lunar aspect of it. But the others come in as a close second.

And these favorites change all the time for me. So who knows!

Itchy M3rcy November 3rd, 2013 8:20 PM

My favorite is hands down fighting thanks to nostalgia of a super strong Hitmonchan I had in Pokemon red thanks to good old thunderpunch and a high attack

moon November 5th, 2013 5:07 AM

Fire and Bug are my favorite types. Fire has so many great and good looking pokémon, they are my favorite starters and lots of nice attacks. Bugs have some of the best designs imo, like Scizor, Heracross, Butterfree, Scolipede.

Brendino November 5th, 2013 1:54 PM

I can't just pick one favorite, as that'd be doing a disservice to all of the other great typings there are.

If I had to narrow it down to three, it would be Psychic, Ghost and Steel. Any time I play through the games, my party feels empty if I don't have one of these types represented (with my current Y playthrough including a Sigilyph and Lucario). It also seems a majority of my favorite Pokemon either are one of those types or make good use of the moves, which always helps.

damientheomen3 November 5th, 2013 9:03 PM

There's just something about the Steel type that I love. I also love Dark, Ghost and Fire. The only type I don't like is the Fairy type, but then I've never played X or Y so far.

Nolafus November 5th, 2013 10:21 PM

If you know me, then you know that my love for all grass types is kind of disturbing. Therefore, I chose grass. Big shocker, I know.

Orifiel November 5th, 2013 11:58 PM

That would be Psychic, Dark & Steel.
I don't know why, but they seemed better and because my favorite
Pokemon is Bisharp and Gardevoir, so that's why I like these types.

Gogoat Rocks! November 6th, 2013 3:19 AM

My favorite Type is, and always will be Grass. :)
I've always loved Trees, Plants and Flowers and My favorite Pokemon is a Grass type(Chikorita).
Grass Type Forever and nothing is ever going to change that. :)

Hikamaru November 6th, 2013 4:19 AM

My fave type is, and always will be Water. It's mainly due to my "mascot" Pokemon being of that type plus I love how versatile they can be with performing various roles on the team.

I have a fair share of types I love, Psychic, Electric, Normal, Grass, Fire and Ghost have a fair share of Pokemon I love. Even the Fairy-types have been winning me over, due to the cuteness and the diversity in their designs, more than I would have thought.

Sirfetch’d November 6th, 2013 10:16 AM

This is so hard to pick because there really isn't a type that I don't like. My favorite Pokemon, Castform, is Normal typed but I wouldn't go as far to say that is my favorite type. I'm also a huge fan of Water types because of how diverse they are but by no means is it my favorite type. I guess that either Bug or Steel would be my favorite type. I just really love all Pokemon of those types and it feels like each and every generation they are only improving on the quality of Pokemon that represent those two types. Funny enough, one of my favorite Pokemon of all time is Steel/Bug typed which is Durant! If I had to pick a favorite of each though it would be Honedge for steel and Yanmega for Bug.

ALL OMNI 0 November 6th, 2013 10:24 AM

Mew and ditto :I the best pkm ever

Mana November 7th, 2013 9:04 AM

I really like Water Pokémon :). Also very fond of grass pokémon, because of the drain abilities.

Fairy has been a great addition too though! Awesome moves and some useful type advantages.

xseed November 7th, 2013 9:40 AM

My favorites are:
Steel. I just love the high defense of these pokemon(looking at you skarmory. your wall tactics are amazing.) Yea I know I am a sucker for wall tactics lol plus they go perfect with my next favorite type. psychic.(though gen 6 ruined this kinda.)

psychic. the mind is stronger than the sword lol. I just LOVE psychic types. All of them have such unique designs(lookin at you braixen). plus their are many strategies they can use like that nasty trick room. they have a wide variety of moves and lots of them make really good sweepers as well.

and my new favorite fairy. Alot of them are just so friggin cuuute!(looking at you sylveon). I also love the sp.def stats of alot of the fairies. makes really good sp.walls. I also love the immunities and resistances of fairies.(Togekiss I am looking at you especially.) and then I love what they did to Azumarill. It can own pretty much anything with its new play rough move. and speaking of moves alot of the fairy move are so unique!. Like the (over powered) moon blast. lol

Frazzevous November 9th, 2013 3:00 AM

I've always been fond of Fire-types, which is mostly due to my attraction to the beauty of fire IRL (so long as it's not burning something or someone to death). These Pokemon also usually end up looking huggable (like Arcanine) and generally good.

I quite like Grass-types as well, and it's practically because of my fondness of flowers. Some are strikingly beautiful (Lilligant, for example :3), plus I think their delicateness makes them more... charming. Okay, it's sad that they're considered to be the weakest, especially those who don't get dual-typing, but none of that really matters to me.

Dark- and Ghost-types have a spot in my heart, too. :3 Black + purple + creepy = WIN.

Sniper November 9th, 2013 3:01 AM

Probably Steel and Fire! I think it's strong!
Rather than that, I think dragon too. I just don't think so.. lol

TrinityLovesPokemon November 10th, 2013 2:06 PM

I love water types, because I always swim and sit in water for long periods of time. *aka shower/bath* But I also like Ice, because they have a majestic beauty to them! Their moves are stunning and can freeze the opponent! I like cold weather WAY better than hot weather as well, and I love snow and rain!

X-Tyranitar December 1st, 2013 8:48 PM

Favorite Type?!?

What is the favorite type out of pokecommunity members out there!?

Mine is definitely the Dragon Type! Too bad Tyranitar isn't part Dragon:/

White Raven December 1st, 2013 9:05 PM

I love dark types ^_^. Dark water to be specific. But Psychic is awesome too ^_^.

Haha Sharpedo is sick, and so is Mega Gyarados Right???

Nolafus December 1st, 2013 10:53 PM

Grass all the way. Serperior was my first pokemon, so that nostalgia carried over to its typing. Not to mention the success I've had using a grass monotype team in tournaments, so that's a big plus.

Is a grass monotype team really that good?

Brendino December 2nd, 2013 12:18 AM

We've already got an active thread with a poll asking members their favorite Pokemon type, so I'm going to merge the two threads. Please make sure to do a quick search in the future to make sure there isn't another thread already asking the same thing before you post!

MERGED.

Treecko December 2nd, 2013 12:32 AM

I voted for Dark, but also really love Grass so that's my second favorite. While the Dark type isn't excatly know for being really strong, but it's the designs of the Pokemon I like. Dark types are some of the coolest design. Most look really menacing and like they could scare you into defeat. My favorite Dark type being Umbreon! So cool and it has pretty shiny colors. I've had one in alot of my teams cause it's such a great attacker and good Defense compared to most Dark types.

Grass is one of my favorite types since Treecko, my favorite Pokemon, is a Grass type so I've been become more in favor of Grass types ever since it became my favorite. There's a lot of other Grass types I like too such as Shiftry, Tropius, Snivy's line, Sceptile and Grovyle of course, Chespin and Chesnaught (not not Quiladin) , Whimsicott,Pumpkaboo, Gourgesit, Trevanant, Gogoat, Skiddo, Phantump, Bulbasaur's line, and Turtwig's line, Meganium. There's a good mixture of cute and cool Grass types.

Gardevoir the Dragon Slayer December 2nd, 2013 10:37 AM

Fairy's my favorite type so I voted for that, but I also like Physic, Fire and Steel

大輔 December 2nd, 2013 3:04 PM

I'm surprised nobody likes normal types that much...
Honestly, those things can learn so many types of moves. My Overall my favorite normal type pokemon currently would have to be furfrou because I have a poodle :) It's defense is so strong too~

I actually made a team full of normal types to challenge my friends!! :D

Christopher December 3rd, 2013 2:13 PM

My top 5 in order:
Bug - Mainly due to the being underrated and overlooked a lot. Plus they're all well designed.
Poison - Just a great type lots of diversity and an awesome status condition to inflict.
Ice - Some of their thunder has been stolen by the fairies but it's still one of my favorites.
Fighting - All around great type I love every pokemon in it....except Sawk & Throh.
Steel - Scizor,Steelix,Skarmory, Metagross...etc There are just so many awesome steel types.

isthatyoudan December 3rd, 2013 2:19 PM

I voted for grass and ghost!
Grass- my best Pokémon deck ever was a grass deck.
Ghost- I love creepy things and two of my favourite Pokemon are Banette and Gengar.

waveguidebuizel December 3rd, 2013 10:10 PM

Grass, without a doubt. I tend to like the underdog, so grass's disadvantaged status is a plus for me. Also, it's among the more strategic types, with a large variety of effects in its collective movepool (and it contains my favorite move, Leech Seed). It's a fun type to play with. And to top it off, I love a lot of their designs; a lot of good ones came out during and after third gen (which is when I started my tradition of choosing the grass starter first).

Managrimm December 4th, 2013 2:06 PM

Dark and Flying are probably my two favorite types. When I think of my favorite Pokemon designs, most of them are one of those two. Hydriegon and Togekiss forever. <3

Pumpkaboo December 4th, 2013 2:12 PM

Ironically not grass or ghost! My favourite types are steel and fairy! I like the more bulky pokemon that take forever to knock out, so the more defensive side of the fairy types.

Virtual Headache December 12th, 2013 5:40 PM

I've always liked Fire types. For me fire/flames just have something very powerful to them. I like Electric types because of the same reason but not as much as Fire types.

Now that we've got Fairy types it has become my new favourite type. It's new, I like almost all Fairy type Pokémon so far and my favourite Pokémon (Togekiss) is also a Fairy type now.

TheTwilitTrainer December 26th, 2013 2:55 PM

Bug. Underrated as hell, especially when paired up with my second favorite type which is grass! Don't believe me? Try using a Leavanny sometime.

^^ It also gives Vappy up there something to chew on. :P

... Something's happening. I have a sudden urge to find a Sewaddle in X&Y... SEE Y'ALL LATER! *Scours the GTS for the next few days*

Creme December 26th, 2013 3:16 PM

Water, for no reason in particular. I've just always been drawn to that type.
Dark, mostly because I love the designs of Dark pokemon.
And lastly, Fairy, for aesthetic reasons yet again.

Nah December 29th, 2013 9:41 AM

My favorite types are Dragon, Fire, Steel, and Electric. Why? They just are. I like stuff from the other types too, but those 4 are the ones I like most.

Dragon monotype team is not all that easy to do....

And why is ???? on the list? That's not exactly a real type.

Toxicroak's Poison Jab December 30th, 2013 11:46 AM

Favorite Pokemon Type

I'm sure this thread has been done before, but im new to the site and im just curious and id like to see What type is everyone's favorite, not just to use but the type you consider yourself a fan of. I myself am a huge Poison type fan. So lets hear it guys.

Rothometapratis December 30th, 2013 12:03 PM

I guess this fits better in the voting polls section. Anyway, my fav type is grass, because of moves like vine whip and leech seed.

Mikazuki December 30th, 2013 12:03 PM

Psychic or fighting, prob psychic though a little more. One of the first things I do starting a new pokemon game is find and catch an abra ASAP lol

Do you evolve it via trade or leave it as a Kadabra?

Brendino December 30th, 2013 1:30 PM

There's actually an active thread asking about member's favorite Pokemon types right here in Pokemon Voting Polls, where this thread is better suited. I'll merge this thread over there for you since they're asking the same question.

And I appreciate the help Rothometapratis, but please use the report button next time http://www.pokecommunity.com/images/templates/pcpro/buttons/report.gif rather than bringing up in a post. The report button isn't just for bad things, you know!

MERGED.

Depends on the game but usually evolve it anyways possible either via trade in an official game or via leveling in the hacks

Shitik December 31st, 2013 10:23 AM

My favorite types are
Ice - Because Ice is just awesome and it fits me too
Dark - Because it's amazing and powerful

Suprisingly I don't really care much for Fire ^^

Ashleyx January 3rd, 2014 4:03 AM

Mine is fire because it look cool.

Miracle Seed January 5th, 2014 4:38 PM

Poison. It's spurned my favorite snakes, and pokemon I name after my favorite Kamen Riders. Also the moves are great. The chance to further hinder each turn is a great thing to have in a pinch

Saki January 5th, 2014 6:27 PM

I've always loved dark type Pokemon! It's something I didn't actually realize until about a year ago though after I reviewed my favourite Pokemon.

Raczack January 5th, 2014 8:17 PM

Always been a fan of poison types starting with the massive variety of them given right from the inception of the series. There is a poison type for every role. Koga had it right, you can completely destroy without brute force.

Them aside, Bug is my second favorite for their quick growth and general coolness. I just love the designs of most bugs Volbeat and Illumise aside. Most are highly specialized but great at their jobs, and just generally fun to use.

Ground is pretty awesome too and always seems to play into any themes I am running, so it comes in at the honorary third place.

ObnoxiousOboe January 5th, 2014 9:23 PM

My favorite types are Psychic, Dark, Ice, and Dragon. If I were to have my own fantasy region, I would probably be a Gym Leader specializing in Psychic types.

Fire and bug! I guess. I love the designs of most fire pokemon and enjoy the fire type moves. I'm fascinated somehow by bug pokemon and their moves and designs, and concepts, even though I hate bugs in real life. Not sure I'd appreciate a realistic bug pokemon coming at me either :p But I'd like a real Flareon as a pet. Aren't they just the cutest. The fire starters are also mostly the ones I use in the games.

Flying.

Literally most of my favourite Pokémon of all are primarily Flying types, including Swellow which is my all-time favourite.

Thatcher January 6th, 2014 1:27 PM

Dragon, Steel and Dark. I cannot choose between them. My favourite Pokemon are one of each type.

Sheep January 18th, 2014 9:08 AM

Electric, grass, ghost, and fairy. Electric is my #1 but the other three aren't in any order. There's something about electricity that just appeals to me so it took that first spot from ghost about ten years ago. :D

Puddle January 18th, 2014 9:34 AM

2 Favorite Types:

Dragon - The coolest Pokemon tend to be dragon types and I love the move Dragon Claw.
Ice - Super effective against Dragon making it the best type in the game. Mwahahaha.

Blake Belladonna January 19th, 2014 5:07 AM

A lot of my favourite pokemon fall into the Water, Ice, Psychic and Ghost types; hence my votes.

Hikamaru January 25th, 2014 5:27 AM

What's your fave type?

Decided to revive this topic by remaking it.

So, what are your faves of the 18 elemental types in the Pokemon series and why?

Puddle January 25th, 2014 5:33 AM

My favorite common type is probably fire, just because I tend to like the Pokemon in it. However, my favorite type is probably dragon because those have the coolest, strongest Pokemon and most the Psuedo-Legendaries. However, I also like ice types as well for the sole reason that they can destroy dragon types, making them awesome.

KorpiklaaniVodka January 25th, 2014 5:41 AM

My favorite type is Ghost because of its theme and because it's one of the best types in the game. Ghost + Fighting has unresisted coverage and Gengar is one of my favorite Pokemon.

I also like Normal and Dragon. The Normal-type is very underrated, however some badass pokemon such as Ursaring still rock. The Dragon-type is still the best type in the game without a doubt, even with the addition of the Fairy-type (Iron Tail, Poison Jab and Flash Cannon are there for a reason) and the nerf of Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse.

DomesticYak January 25th, 2014 5:43 AM

Suprised no one has said water yet, yeah sure it is the most common type but most of the Pokemon in there have some awesome designs (i'm looking at you lapras)

KorpiklaaniVodka January 25th, 2014 5:50 AM

If anything, the water-type is one of the worst types in the game. It's got a horrible weakness to Grass (Mega Venusaur says hello) and the nerf of Ice Beam doesn't help at all. The electric weakness isn't as bad as a simple Ground-type can help dispatch enemy Thundurus, but that doesn't make water-types overpowered monsters overnight. Most importantly, Drizzle was horribly nerfed.

I also dislike water-types because many of them look stupid (Bibarel, Oshawott [sorry Hika], Palkia, Luvdisc, Feebas anyone?). That, and many of them are plain overrated as well.

Brendino January 25th, 2014 1:12 PM

Hmm... the other thread asking this still seems to be alive and well, so I'm just going to merge this topic over there for you.

MERGED.

I wouldn't call Water a terrible type. And rain needed a nerf. I got sick and tired of fighting a rain team every other battle in Gen 5.

LilyAnn January 26th, 2014 3:26 PM

I love Fire and Dragon type pokemon. They're just so awesome. xD

DarkLatias January 26th, 2014 3:30 PM

I personally enjoy fire type.

water type is probably the best type in the game? it has two weaknesses. grass is a pretty bad type honestly and is very lackluster in terms of coverage moves. there's only four grass types in OU - two are only used for utility, one doesn't even use grass as its main STAB, and one is only good under sun. electric type is declining and the only one worth using anymore are rotom-w (which is, ironically, a water type!) and thundurus-t. magnezone only has a niche with magnet pull and jolteon is just plain bad really.

more importantly, there's more water types in OU than any other type besides steel, which it's tied with. bulky waters have fantastic typing and good utility, and the drizzle nerf isn't that big of a deal because five turns is plenty to gain a bunch of momentum and advantage. the ice beam nerf is a bit of a letdown but there's only like two water types in OU that even really used ice beam.

td:lr water types are not bad. :)

Meganium January 26th, 2014 4:53 PM

I'm a huge fan of grass-types. They may have loads of weaknesses and not very good competitively, but I still love them, regardless. :)

DynamicD January 26th, 2014 8:18 PM

Dragon type was almost my favorite, but these two types took the spot for me.

Electric- so many cool Pokemon in this group, and Ampharos is arguably one of my favorite Pokemon of all time.

Water- There is such a variety of them, and they have so many great combinations and such.

Please explain how is Grass a bad type. Ferrothorn is one of the most annoying Pokemon ever to take down, especially in Gen 5 when backed by rain. Just because it has pretty low attack (even though Choice Band Ferrothorn is viable) doesn't mean it can't wall most water-types ad infinitum. Mega Venusaur just won't die to special attacks, has the Thick Fat ability which makes it hard to eliminate even with super effective attacks, and it's S rank for a reason on the Smogon viability thread.
As for Electric-types, the best Electric-type in OU right now is Thundurus, not Rotom-W (imo). Rotom-W doesn't hit very hard at all, and tbh it's renowned because of its access to Volt Switch and Will-o-Wisp. Hydro Pump is just... there if you need to kill a Ground-type or something. On the other hand, Thundurus is so darn annoying and I think he'll get banned this generation as well, with Prankster, extreme Special Attack, Taunt, Thunder Wave, and good physical attack as well to get rid of Tyranitar (with Superpower).
If it wasn't for Drizzle Politoed, I think Tentacruel, Starmie and Gyarados would have been UU/BL (and Politoed would be definitely NU), because the power creep in gen 5 would have meant they couldn't keep up with new threats like Terrakion and Conkeldurr. Tentacruel would no longer be able to use Rain Dish + Protect and would have NO way to get past Ferrothorn. Starmie wouldn't hit hard enough and once again would never EVER get rid of Ferro. Gyarados would probably be at the border since it can actually set up on the spiked monster, but even then it needs some luck to actually beat it.
Sorry, but your comment tells me you're still living in Gen 5. The Water-type is very overrated and not as good as most people think.

Raine January 27th, 2014 9:49 PM

In real life, I'm borderline deathly afraid of swimming anywhere where it's not enclosed, but for some reason, I really like Water and Ice types. Probably because they're both associated with my favourite colour :P

I think when he said that Grass is a bad type, he meant that Grass has a lot of weaknesses and is a poor offensive type since other types generally cover what Grass does and then some.

I do agree that Grass isn't a bad type (there isn't a truly bad type in the game, though some have their issues). Not sure why you're using Ferrothorn as a way to say that Water types suck. It's Ferrothorn, that's what its supposed to do: **** on all water types. You don't use water types against Ferrothorn unless you wanna die. That's like saying all Bug types suck because Heatran exists.

What tier Starmie and Tentacruel end up in is irrelevant, since they are one of the few decent Rapid Spin users, so they will be seen in OU quite a bit.

Rotom-Wash IS good. I'm not gonna say its the best thing ever (cuz its not), but its not as bad as you say. I think Puck said it was the best Electric type because it hard counters Talonflame, who is so overused (pun not intended) atm. Thunderus is great too.

Best Electric type is Zekrom, btw. XD

Shhmew February 8th, 2014 11:31 PM

My favorite type is normal. Sooo many normal types are just super adorable and versatile. <3 Not very exciting, but they are still most certainly my favorites.

Also love fire, flying, and fairy.
