Advice for training an Aggron

Hi all, looking to include an Aggron in my team. These are the 2 options i came up with last night, i'd like some improvements / advice on what to EV train for.

Quote:

Aggron @ aggronite (brave)(rock head)
-double edge
-heavy slam
-earthquake
-flash cannon
the idea behind this Aggron is to have excellent attack, at the cost of speed. rock head prevents recoil from double edge and mega evolving into aggronite cuts its weaknesses down a bit. Thinking about EV training attack and defense, with some HP

Quote:

Aggron @ leftovers / rocky helmet (quiet)(sturdy)
-metal burst
-ice beam
-thunderbolt
-flamethrower
The idea behind this Aggron is to be able to cover a wide variety of elementals. Quiet increases special attack, at the cost of speed, which is useful for the 3 elemental attacks it has. sturdy would allow it to survive 1HK/O's and retaliate with metal burst with some slight prediction, and metal burst would also be useful due to aggrons high defense. thinking about EV training its HP and defense.

Aggron's Special Attack is OUTRIGHT terrible. It's not worth using Special moves on it. If you were to use a recoil move on Aggron, use Head Smash because of its insane power and you don't get recoil because of Rock Head. Also, regular Aggron's defensive typing is terrible because of its common weaknesses to Water, Fighting and Ground (the last two are 4x effective on it). As a result of this, the regular form is often shafted in favor of its Mega form, which sports an amazing Defense and Filter to help it take its weaknesses more easily. You need to make good use of Aggron's good support move pool in this form:
-Stealth Rock (egg move)
-Heavy Slam/Iron Head
-Thunder Wave
-Earthquake/Dragon Tail
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef (note that Aggron can get away with not investing in Defense because of how huge its Mega form's Defense is)
Item: Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy (changes to Filter when it Mega Evolves)

or
-Rest
-Sleep Talk
-Heavy Slam/Iron Head
-Earthquake/Dragon Tail
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Item: Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy

thanks for the tip. just a quick question when you say "EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef" what exactly does that mean? im rather new to all the terminology, so i don't know what those values mean

You give Aggron 252 HP EVs and 252 Special Defense EVs, with the last 4 in Defense. Either use Super Training or look up which Pokemon give what EVs and an EV training guide.

okay, i gotcha, thanks. I don't plan on running too many doubles, so i doubt i'd have too much use for stealth rock, but i see where it can be useful with dragon tail.

Nice advice, PlatinumDude. Since your troubles seem to be solved, I'm just going to ahead and close this thread. If you're looking for future advice on team building and battling strategies, then please check out the Battle Center next time.
