Webbie's Reorganization

I thought I'd post in here to make it an "official" suggestion? O_o

-- Webmaster Resources (For scripts and stuff)
-- General Discussion (For stuff like contests and crap)
People liked it when I proposed it in the webbie lounge. Any other thoughts?

I'd be willing to post the guidlines and the forum descriptions like I did with the ROM Hacking ones. =3

The Fallen February 22nd, 2005 9:24 PM

I must say this is a good idea =x.Although it looks as if Webbies is doing fine.Kip-kip and JA close what needs to be closed and what not.
PLus so many sub forums can make the area look sorta dead.A couple of threads in this forum and couple in that forum.Who knows though, it is an ok/good idea.

aRedMoon February 22nd, 2005 9:25 PM

It was proposed because so many people don't understand the difference between resources and the main forum.

(And I still think that me and JA should mod it together, seeing as we know the forum the best :P *hides*)

The Fallen February 22nd, 2005 9:28 PM

You know the rules JKaizer no implying in any way of being a mod, even if you were a previous one.
I said it was a good idea, but this was a while ago when the suggetion was brought up.It seems that it has been figured out what goes where.

aRedMoon February 22nd, 2005 9:29 PM

The problem between resources and discussion has been happening since the forum was initially made. :/

And the mod thing was a joke... I know I won't get it. >_<

The Fallen February 22nd, 2005 9:32 PM

Then maybe we should just add a discussion thread. It would help.

aRedMoon February 22nd, 2005 9:33 PM

...that's not the point. -.-

The reorganization would solve a lot of JA and Kip-kip's problems.

aRedMoon February 22nd, 2005 9:47 PM

The idea did originate from the hacking forums idea. ^^

(Which, I'll pride myself on, I came up with =D)

Claire February 23rd, 2005 2:31 AM

Ya, sounds like it'll make the place more organised ^^

Cool [email protected] February 23rd, 2005 4:47 AM

I posted a thread just for this, stating it was the best idea for Webbies and also that JK told it but I dont know why some Mod closed it cause Thomas blabbered something.
http://pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=30404

This is an amazing idea and is the only solution to Webbies's current problem.

Thomas February 23rd, 2005 5:43 AM

Edit: Nevermind...I was wrong

Claire February 23rd, 2005 6:22 AM

Where's the old thread thomas? I couldn't find it

Thomas February 23rd, 2005 7:59 AM

Well, nevermind cause I was wrong in reporting CC's thread. I thought there was another thread but I was thinking of something different. Sry CC. It doesnt really matter anyway...it more than a week ago and there is already a new topic so lets talk about putting this idea in action rather that bringing up older threads.

Rukario February 23rd, 2005 10:50 AM

if you are thinking reorganization don't forget to have a problem/coding/help and what not section.. after all it is the main reason we have the webbies section.

Mr Cat Dog February 23rd, 2005 11:11 AM

I like this idea, as whilst I've never actually posted in Webbies, I do go there, and Resources feels a bit cluttered IMO. But, I agree with Steve that there should either be a new forum for help, or at least incorporate it into Resources or General (if it isn't already :P) [/two cents]

That would go in Resources.

SKun: It's been awhile since I looked there, have they been changed?

Claire February 23rd, 2005 2:10 PM

Well, we seem to have enough support ^^ *creates subs*

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 3:33 PM

Gary and I both love the idea but we're upset that no one asked us before you did the reorganisation seeing as we're both mods there.

And Greggy, you know I want you to mod again ^^

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 6:47 PM

Wow... Claire... moving a bit fast, aren't we? >_>

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 6:57 PM

Can we get the main forum topic start allowing thing turned off already?

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 7:07 PM

Also mass move all the threads in there to General. Anything bumped can be moved to the right forum then.

And my post should be turned into an announcement, so it's in all the forums. It would be so much simpler if I was a mod still... -.- *works through JA more*

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 8:01 PM

Fine, fine, announcement it is, but I'll leave the sticky there for if people want to ask questions. Are mods actually able to mass move? *checks*

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 8:09 PM

Not to my knowledge, I think an admin has to. :/

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 8:47 PM

OK. SOME ADMIN, GET YOUR BUTT INTO THE ADMIN CP AND TURN OFF NEW THREADS IN THE MAIN WD FORUM AND MASS MOVE THOSE THREADS FOR US! XD Do you think that will work? XD :P

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 8:59 PM

That's implying that admins read these posts. :P

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 9:00 PM

Oh, well, they're supposed to. Abby always did.

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 9:02 PM

Claire does, I'll admit that.

But remember, Abby was a bad admin...

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 9:06 PM

That's right, hence her ban. o_O Well, I found a mass move option on the page, but I'm not allowed to use it because I don't have the necessary permissions....

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 9:12 PM

SMods can then. :P

It's a permission when you add the mod...

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 9:14 PM

OK, fine, get in here S-mods and do it for us already, it's your job :P XD

Claire February 24th, 2005 3:32 AM

No no, mass move moves all of the threads to one location, which is why they have to be done individually ^^; i did the first two pages last night before i left, but i didn't want to turn off the ability to post in the main area until all the threads were moved.

Cool [email protected] February 24th, 2005 4:27 AM

Err...Have you removed the posting permissions in the main forum Claire. Anyway this is a great idea by Greg, which is sure to work out.

We want them all moved. -.-

Claire February 24th, 2005 2:58 PM

I'm not doing it all myself, JK, it's also the responsibility of the other two mods.
Mass move moves all the threads to one sub, which isn't what we want, hence having to do it individually -.-

aRedMoon February 24th, 2005 3:00 PM

No, you don't get it, we want all the threads that are currently in the main forum moved to General.

If anything is bumped, it can be moved accordingly. It's how we did it with ROM Hacking. -.-

The main forum should be clear when posting is turned off.

Claire February 24th, 2005 3:09 PM

That was never mentioned, so i've already moved two pages worth JK. Only a couple of threads actually belonged in GD (most went to WS) so that wouldn't have helped.
Looking at the rest of the threads, there were only 2 left that hadnt been moved in the whole of WD, so now they're sorted.
The redirects can just be turned off so the area will be clear, i just felt it was beneficial to leave them up for a while so that people can find their threads after which the mods/whoever can turn them off after a while, so relax JK XP

aRedMoon February 24th, 2005 3:25 PM

Old threads still appear... >_>;;

It looks messy having anything down there and not being able to post. That's why everything was shoved into General ROM Hacking and then whatever was allowed to be bumped was moved.

Claire February 25th, 2005 2:14 AM

JK, i just said that after a while the redirects can be deleted -they're only redirects O.o

aRedMoon February 25th, 2005 1:31 PM

There's more than redirects in there... there's over 50 pages.....

Claire February 25th, 2005 1:41 PM

As far as i can see regarding the general WD area, it doesn't show threads older than a month, so that shouldn't be a problem

aRedMoon February 25th, 2005 1:43 PM

THat's changable in the usercp, as well as at the bottom.

And people are making posts in there now, so can you at least turn off post counts? Leaving the job half done is making even more work for JA/Kip-kip...

Kipkip February 25th, 2005 1:46 PM

Can we please have Webmaster's closed for posting? People are still posting there.

Claire February 25th, 2005 1:50 PM

Technically, threads over a month old shouldn't be posted in and once posts there are turned off they wont come back up the thread list..but i guess ur a clean-freak, so whatever, ill mass move them >.>
I was helping JK by moving threads less than one month old, not making more work for them, but i guess you like to see things in a negative light.

aRedMoon February 25th, 2005 1:52 PM

The first few threads are fine, but it makes more sense to have them all in one forum. Keeping them in the main forum is more annoying than anything.

What's so wrong with having it clean like ROM Hacking?

Cherrim February 25th, 2005 2:26 PM

o_o They've all been moved.

...now to get rid of the annoying redirects, as I'm sure I'm not the only one annoyed by them. XP
