Enforcing 500x300 picture rule

I've noticed a lot of sigs that are sooo out of the picture allowable range... it's annoying.

Is there a way we could have a sticky in here when we could report these? Might make it easier for the higher staff to keep track of it, and they're all in one place. =)

Claire February 23rd, 2005 2:33 AM

Normally you just PM the staff if you see someone with a sig too large. Stops from ppl being seen as squealers and it's a more subtle way of sorting things out ^^;

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 1:12 PM

Who's the best to PM then?

They're gonna get a long one from me...

Castrainer February 23rd, 2005 1:14 PM

Since people are so worried about Rep. Points, ya could make a rule that who has a Bigger Pic looses Rep~ =P j/k xD

But really, who is better to PM about it?

Claire February 23rd, 2005 1:48 PM

Any higher staff is fine ^^ preerably one who's online at the time
Most higher staff check the forum every day, so it should be dealt with quickly ^^

Thomas February 23rd, 2005 1:50 PM

*checks claires signature picture* Er...miss admin...you are off my 10 pixels...*runs away and hides*

Mr Cat Dog February 23rd, 2005 2:02 PM

If mods went back to sig-editting powers, it would make lives a lot easier *hinthint* XD Just kidding, so many people complained when that happened. But... yeah - since us puny mods can't do anything, and only the higher staff can, just PM one of them. Moderators can give signature warnings though. I've given out a few :D

Claire February 23rd, 2005 2:02 PM

Ya, steve said that as long as the area doesn't exceed it's fine (i tried to get the sig width increased, but steve said that as long as the area doesnt exceed the 500x300 area, and doesn't stretch the screen, it's fine)

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 6:46 PM

Admins should follow the rules, no matter what other admins say. <_<

Okay, I'll do PMs sometime soon.

DragonTrainer February 23rd, 2005 6:47 PM

I am usually on weekday nights because well,s chool nights, nothing to do =P

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 8:58 PM

*wishes for the good ol' days when mods could edit sigs* XD

You can thank me and Evan for that. =3

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 9:07 PM

Oh yeah.... huh. I wanted to edit your sig as a practical joke but I never got round to it.

aRedMoon February 23rd, 2005 9:11 PM

I made that big arguement thread, and then Evan got into Eli's account. A combo of those two got you guys to loose the power. =3

lol, what were going to put in their sig?

Geometric-sama February 23rd, 2005 9:16 PM

In Greg's sig? *giggles* Use your imagination :P

Kylie-chan February 24th, 2005 12:34 AM

It ish annoying indeed. -.- Especially to those of us who DO obey the rules~ But I know if my sig got reported in a thread for having a too large image [*laughs* *pokes at her tiny image*] I'd be humiliated. I think PM would be the best way to solve things =)

kohei February 24th, 2005 1:20 AM

A bit off topic, but how about sigs which don't have pictures over 500x300, but is extreamly large with lots of smaller pictures or lots of text?

Is this allowed?

Kyogre-chan February 24th, 2005 1:40 AM

Take a peep at the rules, should help you determine whether or not a signature is big.

kohei February 24th, 2005 2:02 AM

>>Phoenix Zero
Thank you~.... I should've looked at that before :(

Jesus Freak Josh February 24th, 2005 2:23 AM

Well if it's any help, SPPF has an IMG200 extension. That shortens the image down to 200 pixels.

The sig rule is about area -it's the area of an image that takes up bw, hence it mentioning that smaller pictures cant take up more area than that box. Someone could, for example, have a 400x400 image as it takes up the same area as 500x300 as long as the image doesn't stretch out the page horizontally

PD Wooper February 24th, 2005 3:33 AM

Um ... 500x300 = 1500px2
400x400 = 1600px2
Anyways, mine is 500x100 at the mo, and that's enough to get 10 clicks a day from PC to my forum/site.

Claire February 24th, 2005 3:44 AM

Ya, but it's similar enough PD -i averaged unless you wanted me to state 400x375 ^^; it was just a rough eg.

Kyogre-chan February 24th, 2005 3:57 AM

Um, this is a bandwidth issue? Offsite images don't use up PC's bandwidth. o.o;

Claire February 24th, 2005 10:27 AM

I typo-ed >.< meant to write space, not bw (webbies stuck in my head XD).
Steve just reconfirmed that it's to do with area mainly, as long as too much scrolling isn't needed, which is why i added more info to the sig image rules

aRedMoon February 24th, 2005 12:56 PM

...that's kinda stupid. If people can "average" then it's no good. <_<

Why not keep it a simple 500 x 300 like it used to be? Sig reports were easy back then...

Mr Cat Dog February 24th, 2005 12:58 PM

So... basically, if it's 1500px or less, and doesn't stretch the screen, then it's OK? o_O That'll be a bit harder to judge than the simple rule of 500x300

Kyogre-chan February 24th, 2005 1:02 PM

*nods* Wide signatures are okay, but tall ones... not a chance. If I can't see someone's entire sig on 800x600 without scrolling vertically, they get a warning from me.

Claire February 24th, 2005 2:56 PM

That's why i added on the rules to make it more clear (after checking steve's interpretation) about a max width of 550 and a max height of 400. It makes the rules slightly more flexible is all, without jeapardising the area taken up of sigs. When someone has multiple images you have to add them up to see their area anyway, so this is no diff, it's just for someone who has one image that isnt strict to exactly 500 x 300

found one this guys is pretty bad

The Fallen February 25th, 2005 6:56 PM

Well, PM him and ask him nicely to make it smaller.If he doesn't ask one of us to take care of the issue.

What about those that you can't see without scrolling horizontally? ><

Claire February 26th, 2005 2:48 AM

As long as the overall height of images added together doesnt exceed a height of 400, and there arent more than 10 lines of size 2 text, it's ok kylie ^^

Okies aaron, i've PMed him, but please just PM one of the higher staff next time ^^;
