Dragonite can be pretty tough to take down when one is not prepared. I honestly don't think Dragonite really needs to be a sweeper.

Answer to any one of the current topics: If there were dragon type starters, I would have a hard time choosing between Garchomp and Kingdra. I might have to trade one in just to have both.

I will add you to the memberlist :). Welcome :D.

Wicked3DS April 15th, 2014 6:39 PM

How about a new topic - one that is acutally related to Dragon-types.

What is/has been your favorite Dragon-type to use in a game?

Fernbutter April 16th, 2014 6:00 AM

What is/has been your favorite Dragon-type to use in a game?
Dragonite~ I don't care if competative says he sucks, I like using him.

Sonata April 16th, 2014 2:47 PM

Whatever the dragon is for the region, for Johto I use dragonite.

Hiatus April 16th, 2014 2:50 PM

In-game, I love using Garchomp. Gible could be found in almost every post gen-three game, and it's not very tough to raise, either. It's an extremely powerful Pokémon. Aside from that, I also like using Dragonite, Flygon, Haxorus, and Salamence. :3

Nah April 16th, 2014 4:43 PM

My favorite dragons to use would probably be...Garchomp and Zekrom. But I lovses all my dragons.

Dragonite doesn't suck competitively....

Hiatus April 16th, 2014 9:48 PM

Dragonite is amazing when battling, honestly. Most dragon-types faint as soon as they get struck by ice attacks, but same can't be said for this one; Dragonite's got Multiscale, which basically guarantees it to withstand at least one hit regardless of how powerful it is. :]

Fernbutter April 16th, 2014 10:02 PM

I said that because some people say by comparison he isn't that good to use. Either way though.

Reason for joining club: i love dragon types, they're unique, fierce but with an air of dignity. they're so awesooooooome. c:

Answer to any one of the current topics: What is/has been your favorite Dragon-type to use in a game? i haven't been able to use much, but despite loving Salamence, probably Hydreigon. i love his attack and his awe-inspiringness is epic. And in battle he makes you feel badass. <3

Favorite Dragon type/Dragon Pokemon: Gible (Shiny)
Reason for joining club: Dragons are my favorite type.
Answer to any one of the current topics: If there were dragon type starters, I'd go with a Gible, Bagon, or Dratini. On second thought, I wouldn't take the Dratini/Bagon because starters don't have HA when you pick them and Gible's evo line has the least important HA.

Create a Dragon type Pokémon. What's its name? What would it look like? What is good about it?
I'd create a Pokémon called "Ocedra." This would be an alternative evolution for Seadra; to evolve this Pokémon into it, you'd have to use Dawn Stone. Ocedra would be used more for its defenses, as opposed to Kingdra. Plus, it'd have access to a variety of stalling moves such as Protect, Toxic, Wish, and Heal Bell. :]

Create a Dragon type Pokémon. What's its name? What would it look like? What is good about it?

Gadregin. Terrible name. Awesome pokemon. It looks like Kyurem,Torterra, and Dragonair had a baby. It is a grass/dragon type with superb defense, attack, and hp but very terribly low speed and special defense. It has a very wide move pool, having the typical dragon and physical grass type moves. Its BST is equal to Arceus.

Create a Dragon type Pokémon. What's its name? What would it look like? What is good about it?

Something Bug/Dragon that looks like Scyther and Salamence combined. Great Attack and Speed.

Also, I'd like to see a good Dragon-type club and this one seems to be on it's last legs...

Also it was April 10th, so in a few days it will need new ownership.

First Pokemon game I ever played was Yellow. I didn't use a Dragon type on my first playthrough. The first Dragon I ever saw was one of the Dratini line, because, well, those were the only Dragon types in the game back then.

Hiatus May 7th, 2014 5:56 PM

Mine was Blue, but don't exactly remember which dragon Pokémon I wound up spotting first. :( Did I use any dragon-types? Yup, of course; if I remember correctly, I think I might've had Dragonite on my team at one point.

Wicked3DS May 9th, 2014 3:34 AM

The first dragon I spotted was Dratini. The first dragon I used was Dratini. Only used it because of the item glitch so I could rare candy evolve it easily.

The member list has been updated............ Please check if your name is included in the list......... Do notify me with the post number so that I can add you into the list appropriately..........

I would like the members, if it would be possible, for all of us here to be able to engage into a discussion about Dragon type Pokemon of your choice in general..........

I could start it off saying that I love the Pokemon Altaria, it's beautiful and elegant appearance . It has begun to show up after the Third Generation only. It's most awesome is the move Sky Attack, even though it's not a dragon type move by default.......... It's Dragon type move of my preference is Dragon Breath.
A shiny Altaria is golden in color which is a very beautiful sprite.........

I'd like the other members to do the same by showing their appreciation for their favorite Dragon Type by either stating their favorite facts about it (Knowledge), Making some Fan-Art (Creativity) or whatever you would like to state.......

My first Dragon Type: My first was a Giratina from Platinum actually. I had previous gen games but I had neer gotten a Dragon. I transfered it over to my Pokemon Black, raised it to Lvl 100 and now its ready to wreck face in Pokemon Y.

Wicked3DS May 11th, 2014 4:26 PM

Garchomp has settled in at the top and isn't going anywhere for a while. I originally was on the Salamence bandwagon, but I looked into Garchomp a bit more and I like its design much better and the fact that it's a land shark is pretty awesome. Salamence is my number two and I will most certainly be getting one in OR/AS.

Favorite Dragon Pokemon: Charizard

Reason for joining: Dragons are without a doubt my favorite animals. They're powerful, fearsome, mysterious; there's something that intrigues me about them.

My first Dragon Type: The first time that I played Pokemon Red (my first Pokemon game), I chose Charmander and evolved it into a Charizard. Raising a Chamander in that game taught me lessons in responsibility, perseverance, and hard work that I keep to this very day. Charizard has become my own personal symbol of strength.

My first proper Dragon type was a Dratini - Dragonair - Dragonite from that same Red version. I was scoping the Safari Zone to see how much Pokemon I could catch and I wound up catching a Dratini. I trained the Dratini, curious to see what it would evolve into and I got my Dragonite. After Charizard and Lapras, it was the strongest member of my team.

Land Sharks ftw!! The most wonderful thing that occurred to me about Garchomp was it's Draco Meteor! Even though it is not highly damaging, it still looks badAss! Garchomp debuted to me as a Pokemon that was learning Draco Meteor in the anime...........

Wicked3DS May 15th, 2014 4:51 AM

So we have Dratini, Dragonair, Bagon, Shelgon, Axew, Fraxure, Haxorus, Druddigon, Goomy, Sligoo, Goodra.

Haxorus looks cool and can wreck stuff, Dragonair is one of my favorite NFEs.

That's all I've got, because the rest are boring. The dual-typed ones are where it's at.

Favorite Dragon type/Dragon Pokemon: Dragonair!
Reason for joining club: Dragon Pokemon are superior to all Pokemon! They're the strongest and even in an unfavorable matchup they can turn the tides quickly with a couple of turns bulking up stats with Dragon Dance!

Hey, I'll answer all the questions!

1. What made you love Dragon Pokemon?
Considering how they only have 2 weaknesses and possess one of the hardest hitting moves in the entire game, Outrage, what's not to love?

2. Your first Dragon Pokemon....?
A shiny Dratini back when I first got Crystal. I was extremely lucky to catch it in the Dragon's Den and it was my very first one.

3. Your favorite Dragon type user?
Who else but Lance himself, the ultimate Dragon master?

4. Your favorite Dragon type move?
Outrage. It's so unpredictable in doubles but it hits HARD. I usually combo this up with a Persim Berry so that I can use it to sweep a 6 man team! It's also one of the most powerful moves in the game since it can attack 2-3 times at the cost of only one PP!

5. Which generation had best Dragon type Pokemon?
Generation 3! Flygon and Salamence were awesome. Same with Rayquaza, Latias and Latios!

6. Would you like Dragon type starters? If yes, which one would you start with?
Yes! A Dratini. I love myself some Dragonair, though!

Hiatus May 15th, 2014 2:17 PM

Oh, wow, I had no idea that Haxorus is pure dragon. XD; Been using a for a while in competitive play, but… I just don't know how I wound up not noticing that. Of the ones you listed, though, my personal favorite would probably have to be Dratini; it's simply adorable, haha.

I'm not sure why, but I've developed a mild obsession with Bagon. I've decided to breed one and use it in a NFE and/or Solo challenge run.

"Dreaming of one day flying, it practices by leaping off cliffs every day."

Oh Bagon. You're silly.

I also like Axew quite a bit, since I associate him with Iris from the anime (who, by the way, is my favorite dragon trainer).

Bagons only appear in one room in Meteor Falls. IIRC, its the one all the way in the back on the lowermost level.

IDK why they confined it to one specific room.....

Probably because Game Freak didn't want players to get a dragon pokemon so early on in the game.

Hiatus May 18th, 2014 10:42 PM

They're still Pokémon, though, regardless of what type they are. Just because they're dragon doesn't mean they are automatically stronger, so why make Bagon inaccessible until later on? :(

Fernbutter May 18th, 2014 11:12 PM

Who knows? Maybe they just have some beef with Bagon and are trying to mess it up.

But really, I probably think it's because they don't want every player to have at least one Salamance for every team.

Bagon has very high base stats compared to other unevolved Pokemon. Along with Headbutt, players would breeze through gyms and trainer battles.

His STAB paired with Dragon Claw/Dragonbreath make it a force to be reckoned with and it scales extremely well later on in the game as it evolves.

I'd also like to mention Kingdra. Holy heck it also has really high speed and SP Attack. So worth trading.

Ah, okay, that makes sense. :] Though, they could still make you encounter it at a lower level; this way, when you capture this Pokémon, you wouldn't have much of an easier time battling unless you go train; this would balance it all out.

Couple of examples:
http://www.smogon.com/media/sprites/xy/front/charizard-mega-x.png http://www.smogon.com/media/sprites/xy/afront/garchomp-mega.gif

You can't do animated sprites for all of them, though (like Mega Charizard X). But it has sprites for all the Pokemon, including all the Mega Evolutions.

Do we know what Pokémon other than Charizard and Gyarados do? They're the only ones I can think of that do (I think Seadra does too, but it has Kingdra, so that's one is null and void).

Also, that rule is completely out of line considering you (the club leader, after all) haven't even posted 10 times (even if you count that illegal double post you just made).

Nah, then we'd have too many dragons on our hands. And some of them wouldn't be fit very well into the Dragon type I imagine.

Hiatus May 27th, 2014 2:01 PM

I'd say no. If any Pokémon were to be typed as dragon, their design should be portrayed as such one way or another. If not, then… it just wouldn't make sense. D:

Sonata May 27th, 2014 4:53 PM

Well it'd be nice for some pokemon to have the second typing of dragon, such as Feraligatr...but those pokemon will probably get the dragon typing in their megas.

Oh, really? It's not like he's threatening to ban people; no one's being hurt here. In fact, we're being given a new option that we didn't have before, and it's not really even that hard to obtain.

He's just offering an incentive for members to be active. I think it's rather clever.

I only wish Flygon had gotten a Mega :( Or Mega Trapinch! That would be neat.

Mega Trapinch would be even slower but with 100 base special attack to match base attack, and an HP boost. Maybe even pump the offensive stats up to base 150. And a Bug/Dragon typing. We definitely need one of those to smash up psychic- and dark-types.

As for the new topic, I think that would create too many dragon-types. I think their relative rarity makes them better.

Wicked3DS May 28th, 2014 3:57 AM

No in general, although I still think Gyarados should be a Dragon-type. Flying doesn't make sense to me at all and never has. It would actually make it more challenging on an Elite Four team too instead of just Bolting it all the time.

Good point. That would give Gen I a second dragon evo line, which would be nice I think.

Plus it makes Magikarp that much cooler XD

Dragon_Trainer_ May 28th, 2014 11:52 PM

I agree with the members that it would create too many Dragon Type Pokemon.
The topic is off discussion now. Please try to refrain from commenting on it.

So, a new topic is in order? What did you have in mind?

Dragon_Trainer_ May 30th, 2014 8:25 AM

Nothing at the moment....... I'm open to suggestions though..........

Wicked3DS May 30th, 2014 9:06 AM

Hmm, I have one, borrowed from my other clubs.

What Dragon-types have you used in recent playthroughs?

I had Flygon when I beat Black 2. One of my favorites and probably will be used again in OR/AS

Sonata May 30th, 2014 3:02 PM

I try my best to use as many dragons as I can and in the last game I played I used Hydreigon, Kingdra, Dragonite, Salamence, and Altaria.

タイラー May 30th, 2014 3:09 PM

Well, as I am playing through pokemon X atm, I have a tyrantrium and a shelgon, so, awesomeness

What Dragon-types have you used in recent playthroughs?

In the last couple months or so, I've had a Supersonic/Dragonbreath Dratini in a Petit (NFE) challenge, and a Dragonair in a Time Warp challenge, a Garchomp in an Egyptian Myths challenge, and I'm currently using a Flygon in an NPC Trainer challenge..... I liek dragons XD

What made me love the Dragon type?
When I was utterly destroyed by Lance in Pokemon Blue and Yellow. It made me desperately want a Dragonite. It didn't only look awesome, it consistently wiped the floor with me :|

Blazikong June 5th, 2014 5:19 PM

I used a Haxurus to complete Pokemon black ^_^

Haxorus looks so cool and is so powerful haha. Haxours with Dragon Claw = GG :D

I know right. Best dragon pokemon ever!

Wicked3DS June 7th, 2014 8:52 AM

So it's seems we have some new information about OR/AS that's relevant to this club. So...

What do you think of Sceptile having a Grass/Dragon Mega Evolution?

Nah June 7th, 2014 11:15 AM

I think its pretty cool that Mega Sceptile is Grass/Dragon. Though Lightning Rod isn't terribly good on it; it already has a 4x resist to Electric. Only use I can see for it is not getting crippled by Thunder Wave....which I guess is kind of a big deal on a speedy poke like Sceptile.

Wicked3DS June 7th, 2014 8:34 PM

I don't get Lightning Rod at all, it seems like such a random ability for it. If anyone has an explanation at all for it, please do give us one! Anyway, I like the Grass/Dragon combo because it is unique and it may give me some incentive to choose Treecko over Mudkip (unless, of course, I buy both games). It excites me though.

Blazikong June 8th, 2014 2:05 PM

That would be amazing. Would it look like a cross pokemon fusion?

Hiatus June 8th, 2014 4:22 PM

What do you think of Sceptile having a Grass/Dragon Mega Evolution?
I sort of expecting it (because, well, every time I look, I always get reminded of this particular typing), and I'm glad it happened. It might be weak against fairy now, but it's got access to a ton of dragon-type moves in its arsenal, which would all be transformed into STAB. To gain something, I suppose you'd have to make a bit of sacrifice from time to time, haha.

Tek June 10th, 2014 5:56 AM

Sceptile's new Mega Evolution has made my life more difficult. I had decided to get a Treecko and not evolve it, because its design is rather adorable. Then it turns out that he can become a Dragon type, but only if I evolve him! It's a real dilemma.

But yeah, I don't really get the lightning rod thing, either. The T. Wave theory makes sense since a grass-type is a natural choice against electric-types, but then again, it's just one move. Surely not the best use of an ability slot. Perhaps they purposely nerfed Sceptile's ability to keep it from being too overpowered?

Wicked3DS June 10th, 2014 6:42 AM

That's a good possibility, but we'll have to judge by its stats to see if that conclusion is justified.

Also, where has our leader gone?

Dragon_Trainer_ June 13th, 2014 9:55 PM

The Leader is still here. I have been lagging a bit on the whole Sceptile thing as I didn't get time to read my Newsletters............

What do you think of Sceptile having a Grass/Dragon Mega Evolution?
It was obviously quite expected. This may drive users to go more towards choosing a Treecko as a starter rather than Mudkip. I think that Torchic won't be chosen at all though.
A Dragon typing will surely give it a load of moves making it even more powerful and I also love the Mega Design. I'm looking forward to it.

I don't understand the use of Lightning Rod on a Pokémon that can't absorb the voltage and turn it into HP.

Volt Absorb is the one that restores HP. Lightning Rod draws in Electric attacks to boost Special Attack. Both make the Pokemon immune to Electric.

Wicked3DS June 14th, 2014 12:30 PM

Lightning Rod boosts Special Attack? I suppose that could be useful, but no one would ever use an Electric attack on Mega Sceptile because it would quad resist it anyway. Thunder Wave possibly, but still, it's not worth it. I hate that ability for this Pokémon. But I do look forward to using it for sure.

Well, with all the starters getting Mega Evos I was expecting the other 2 to get one as well.
I'd have rebelled against 'em if they didn't!

I didn't know Lightning Rod boosted Special Attack.......... I agree with Wicked3DS' point, no one would ever use it on a quasi resistant Poké....

I would have preferred the ability Overgrow myself. It helps in a tough time. It won't have minded some thing that enhances speed either. It already has been made awesome with the Dragon second Type what more can one expect ;)

Wicked3DS June 15th, 2014 10:29 AM

Did you expect it's Mega to be Grass/Dragon-type though? I was pretty sure they'd get megas, but I didn't expect that Sceptile's would be Dragon-type, although I'm not that surprised.

Oh I see. I thought you meant it was obvious it'd get a dragon typing. I guess even that's not a huge surprise; Sceptile learns several Dragon-type moves, right?

Eh, I'd prefer something that isn't Overgrow. Getting your HP down to 1/3 or less for it to activate is really dangerous (especially since its 4x weak to Ice Shard), and Sceptile is kinda frail. A speed enhancing ability would be cool, but Blaziken kinda already has the speed boosting starter thing covered, and I assume that Sceptile will get an increase in its base Speed (possibly being as fast as Greninja or Talonflame), making a speed based ability redundant. Though I'm not sure what a better ability for it would be....

Do you think Rayquaza will get a Primal Form as well?

I don't see why not. It's also part of the Weather Trio, and is as old as Groudon/Kyogre, so its not a stretch to say that Rayquaza will have a Primal form as well. Especially considering its meant to be the mediator between Groudon and Kyogre; it would need its own Primal form in order to stop the battle between the 2 back when they were Primal.

Very good point. I wasn't sure if it would considering it was only a mediator and not actually battling, but yes, it would need to be powerful enough to stop them, so a Primal form would be ideal for it.

Dragon_Trainer_ June 19th, 2014 8:37 AM

Just for curiosity sake, what would be the main changes in primal forms of the Pokémon? Would it be like, a new sprite and increased stats or an overhaul in stuff?

Wicked3DS June 19th, 2014 1:26 PM

They've revealed Primal Groudon and Kyogre, here's a link with details released so far:

http://www.serebii.net/omegarubyalphasapphire/primal.shtml

I imagine Rayquaza would get a similar design for it's Primal form and probably some stat boost as well like the other two.

Reason for joining club: I love dragon Pokemon, along with almost any depiction of dragons in other media. I don't like malicious dragons, though.

1. What made you love Dragon Pokemon? I have always loved dragons, and dragon Pokemon fit right in with that.
2. Your first Dragon Pokemon....? Dratini
3. Your favorite Dragon type user? Iris
4. Your favorite Dragon type move? Dragon Pulse
5. Which generation had best Dragon type Pokemon? Gen 5
6. Would you like Dragon type starters? If yes, which one would you start with? Yes, and I would start with Dratini.

I'll be glad to be a member here! :)

Edit for the topic: I agree with S&PDiner, Rayquaza is likely to be getting a Primal Form. I'm really interested in whether or not it will change type and/or ability (unlikely since Air Lock fits in with Drizzle/Drought, similar to Zygarde's Aura Break).

Yeah, I hope so, too! They're all equal to some degree, so they should definitely be treated as such. If they're unable to give Rayquaza any primal form, then a mega-evolution would do.

Wicked3DS June 26th, 2014 6:52 PM

I've got an intersting one.

Which Hoenn Dragon-type would you like to get a Mega?

That's Altaria, Flygon, Salamence, Rayquaza.

Sapphire Dragon June 27th, 2014 5:15 AM

Flygon for sure. He would be amazing.

I think Altaria getting one would be really great too.

Pretty sure Rayquaza is getting a Primal form.
