Do you like being a human?

Say, everyone... Do you guys like living as a human being?

What are the things that you get from human life that you enjoy the most? Or, if you don't like being a human, what do you wish to become instead?

This maybe a bit confusing for some, so I'll start. I do not like my life as a human, & I'd much rather be something with no emotions & no need for sexual reproduction, preferably a robot.

Dreg December 8th, 2013 1:54 PM

Nah, I hate living as a human being. I don't think there is that much benefits with being a human. I wouldn't mind being a penguin XD

Outlier December 8th, 2013 1:57 PM

I like being a human but there definitely are some overwhelming emotions that I wouldn't have to deal with if I were an animal.

I'd love to be a dog in another life. Only if I liked my owners though. Otherwise I'd prefer to be a wolf.

Sam89 December 8th, 2013 2:11 PM

A dog maybe. I wouldn't need to do anything and I would just lay down all day.

LoudSilence December 8th, 2013 2:13 PM

I dunno if anyone can answer this question properly, as none of us have any reference point.

We only know how to be humans and nothing else.

Nick December 8th, 2013 2:35 PM

My past life as a demigod was much more interesting and enjoyable, but I'm a good sport and I'll take what I can get this time around.

Juno December 8th, 2013 4:37 PM

Sometimes I look at my dog and think I'd rather be her. No responsibilities, just eat, sleep and play all day, and everybody loves and pampers the hell out of her.

AuroraBeam December 8th, 2013 5:15 PM

I can't say I enjoy being a human, but I'm not sure I'd want to be something else as then I wouldnt be able to enjoy the few things I like. Plus, though having emotions can suck at times, sometimes its great. <3 Sometimes having no life at all sounds appealing to me, other times it sounds scary, guess it. just depends on how things are going.

Stochastic December 8th, 2013 5:47 PM

With no need for sexual reproduction? How does seaweed sound? As for me, I wish I were a biiiird.

Oh man, I laughed so hard at this. Mostly cause I can actually picture Nick as a Demigod :P

Personally, and perhaps it cause I'm kindaaaa biased lmao, but I love living as a human. It's fun, to say the least :P

ThePainedPikachu December 8th, 2013 11:36 PM

uh... Who said i'm a human?

acatfrommars December 25th, 2013 5:49 PM

I like living as a human but I wish life was longer. Seaturtles and lobster seem to live forever.

Nneuroxin January 23rd, 2014 11:52 AM

No I'd much rather be a cat

Morgnarok January 23rd, 2014 11:54 AM

I am not so much of a human, so I don't know? lol

Dude, Penguins have it rough. The male and the baby sit in the cold all season while the female goes out and gets food, I believe. The idea of being a penguin is fun, but if you know the life of a penguin it sucks.

I wouldn't mind being a dolphin. Everyone loves dolphins. However, being a human sucks in comparison to the freedom all the other animals get. They also live much more simple lives with less feelings.

GastlyGibus January 23rd, 2014 12:13 PM

I quite like being a human. I can express myself in ways that animals couldn't even conceive. Music, painting, literature, architecture; these are all things that only humans are capable of. Sure, some animals have "songs" they sing, and lots of animals build houses, but those songs and houses are pretty much for survival, and decidedly not expressing feelings.

Even simple things like styling my hair or changing my clothes, these are forms of expression too. There's a certain individuality that exists within humanity, and it's pretty amazing to see what people create. So, yes, I do like being a human. It's fun. XD

Jet Pilot January 23rd, 2014 12:13 PM

Good luck playing Pokemon with the brain of a cat.
Hell yeah I like being human, I wouldn't be anything else.

Southueki January 23rd, 2014 1:03 PM

If anything I would like to be an improved human. Some kind of cool super power

Mind reading, speed, flight, invisibility, I'd take anything

LilyAnn January 23rd, 2014 2:57 PM

I don't. We have to work our entire lives to be able to get basic needs. Like really? Having to pay for food, water, and healthcare. While the other animals can just sit around and wait for it. xD Pets have it good. Especially cats. I love cats. Maybe being one would be fun. Hunting, sleeping, playing, and eating alll day without a care in the world.

Ultramarine January 23rd, 2014 3:26 PM

There's a lot of generalising in this thread, haha.

Sure, some animals have the good life (though we can't know for sure, it could be extremely stressful for them), but other animals are hurt, abused, hunted, and killed. Not so much fun, huh? So yah, I like being human.

Being a seagull would be pretty cool, maybe. But I'd rather be human. Maybe have wings.

Shining Raichu January 25th, 2014 5:23 AM

I love being human because we're the only species capable of the kind of reflection that allows for a thread like this. Perhaps those wishing for a simpler existence aren't equipped to handle it.

Timbjerr January 25th, 2014 7:44 AM

The only thing that sucks about being human is how uncontrollable our emotions can be at times. Life would be so much more enjoyable if logic and reason were the only things that dictated our actions instead of arbitrary and oftentimes illogical emotions.

OH HAI

Evening January 25th, 2014 7:56 AM

I like my capabilities, and I can only have them if I stay human.
I have this big hatred for the human race; I'm saying that I hate humans, but I like being human.

Legendary Silke January 25th, 2014 9:06 AM

I've always been pondering how life would be like if I were not human, or not strictly human, to be exact. Life is certainly good enough for me as is, but sometimes it feels like I could use some time being on the "other side", or somewhere in between...

Funnily enough, I think I would also like to be more of a mythological creature or some kind of fictional animal, say, like, a Pokémon, a dragon, or something similar. Especially when you do it half-way. In particular, I've always been dreaming that I was an anthropomorphic dragon of some sort lately. Sometimes I'm inclined to think that I'm actually one...

Faye Rose~ January 25th, 2014 9:50 AM

I do enjoy being a human. My life isn't that great right now, but I know in the future it will get better when I can live as my true self :) That's what keeps me going.

Kotone January 25th, 2014 9:55 AM

if i wasn't a human, i would definitely be a dog or an owl ( i just love owls!). i just don't like being emotional and crying sometimes.

LauriJ January 27th, 2014 8:00 AM

I guess the most obvious benefit of being human is the ability to Speak and Think.

Kikaito plush January 27th, 2014 8:58 AM

I guess i like being human even though life is hard sometimes for me.

Razgriz January 27th, 2014 9:01 AM

Of course I like it! We get to create, to imagine, even though we are stupid enough to hurt those around us and between ourselves, still... when we do the right things, it's great!

Evanlyn February 1st, 2014 6:27 PM

I do like being a human being, I just don't usually like other human beings. I enjoy playing music on the piano and clarinet, which is what makes me grateful to be human.

If I wasn't a human, I'd want to be a unicorn, dragon, penguin, or cat. Cats rule the household.

TheFattestSnorlax February 1st, 2014 6:38 PM

The question seems obvious here. The human is one of the most worldly species in the universe, and they have created so much... Yes, it is good to be a human being.

Although I wish I were a Snorlax

Aashutosh Kumar February 2nd, 2014 2:48 AM

I like being a human because there are many things that we can do and animals cannot and being animal in this human ruling world is not a good luck! people kill animals for their benefits!

sh1nyzorua February 2nd, 2014 12:40 PM

Being a human is alright, I guess. Video games, sweets, stuffed animals, LOL. . . But humans are crazy with SO MUCH EMOTIONS and responsibilities ew ew ew.
It could be interesting to be a lizard. Sunbathe all day, eat some bugs, freak some little kids out by losing your tail, y'know, do some lizard stuff. But then you'd have to worry about birds or snakes or other lizards trying to eat you. When you're human you usually don't have to worry about cannibalism. Usually.

This basically sums up my answer.

Raine February 22nd, 2014 11:40 PM

To be honest, the only thing I don't like about being human is the emotion of sadness and depression. Sometimes I wish they never existed because I've been through my fair share of ups and downs in life, and would prefer not to experience them again. Other than that, I think being human does have its benefits and we're an interesting species.

Ms. Ninetales February 24th, 2014 1:01 AM

Humans are ugly. I only like it because of the capabilities that humans have.

That and poseable thumbs.

Fernbutter February 24th, 2014 4:24 AM

In a way I can best describe it is:

Pros:
-Smart
-Can communicate effectively
-Reasonable
-Friendly
-Constructive
-Innovative
-Diligent
-Patient
-and many, many more.

Cons:
-Over-ambitious
-Easily corrupted
-Evil
-Selfish
-Greedy
-Exploitative
-Liars
-Murderers
-and many, many more.

I can't really decide if any of these things count in the modern world anymore,
but I think that no matter what you are, you should go through with your plans,
even if it means the worse for others, or for the greater good, it's your life.

starseed galaxy auticorn February 24th, 2014 7:06 AM

Being a human isn't so bad, but I just wish I wasn't disabled. There are so many things I wish I could do like everyone else yet can't do because of special needs. Then again, if I was an animal, I'd probably wouldn't be happy being in a life where I was subjected to taking orders or something like that. Plus, not being understood is the hardest struggle for me ever. People are always judging me and taking me for granted because of what I can do. They forget that I have several disabilities that make me abnormal. :/

If I wasn't human though, I would loooooove to be a cat.

To echo an old post, basically this! I think it's an interesting concept but it's an impossible thing to judge properly. Although I'm sure the topic wasn't meant to be taken that seriously, so I'll go with yes, I like being a human! Human emotion is what makes life worth living - I would never give that up to live the life of some barely sentient animal. (Maybe a squirrel though how cute are they *.*)

victini91 February 24th, 2014 8:54 AM

I like being a human. I like being sad and happy, being evil and friendly, being social and solitairy and being not good to smarty. It makes me feel how unique a human are, you have your own unique life. When I'm older, I have my own path, and I'm willing to stand up once more even when I fail numerous times. But sometimes, I hate (not that much) being a human cause I'm ashamed with our races now. There are always bad news spreading about ourselves doing bad things to ourself or mother nature for their benefits. That's when I realise, if you are doing something, consider thinking about it twice before starting.

Though if I'm born not to be a human, a starfish would do. You just lay in none place throughout your life...

Calm Enigma February 24th, 2014 9:06 AM

If I wasn't a human ... It would be quite cool, despite the fact that if I weren't, what would I be? An alien with 7 arms? An asteroid heading towards the earth's atmosphere? An unknown soul with no feelings or emotions, floating through the air? I suppose if I wasn't a human, I wouldn't even know what a human was or have any memories of them, so I wouldn't mind then.

I must admit, it would be amazing to be born in a complete different universe, where the events of several anime programs, such as Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan, became true.

Poki February 24th, 2014 9:56 AM

As much as I like being a human, I'd much rather be a tiger.

Nolafus February 24th, 2014 10:04 AM

I like being human, but being an animal would be so much simpler. I often look at my piles of homework and then feel jealous of my dog because his only homework is to lay on his bed and take naps.

Blastin'Tyruntz February 25th, 2014 10:41 AM

I like being a human being, although i think there are better options than this. I think being a dog is fascinating, or a dolphin. I believe in the reincarnation of souls, so would love to try something new. Also want to try to be a girl, maybe for a day. I'm not trans, just outta curiosity.

By "ugly" do you mean physically or the behaviours of human beings? Either way, not everyone is the same and there are qualities that we each possess that make us less "ugly," in regards to your perspective, and if using that term as the standards/measurement.

PikaNitro March 21st, 2014 10:32 PM

Why would one not want to be Human in the first place? There is really no point to being a Human if all you'd want to be your whole life is a non-human creature.

Phantom March 22nd, 2014 12:22 AM

I don't know, I haven't tried to be anything else yet.

Sage Ebock March 22nd, 2014 9:51 AM

I've got a slightly different perspective... possibly...

I have been interested in old world shamanism, the psychonaut community, and lucid dreamers for 22 of my 26 year life so far. There is a common thread/theme that seems to connect any belief system in the aforementioned subjects and all related implied subject matter.

Energy (matter if you care to think about Einstein) cannot be created or destroyed, only changed. That being said...

One time I found myself alone in the woods at a large outdoor festival called "Rainbow Gathering", or something along those lines. After finding the perfect resting spot, I attempted to calm my mind and body into total silence and stillness. After a while (I have no idea how long) I began to feel myself swaying and I remember thinking I was gonna fall. When I opened my eyes I was fine, still sitting atop a fallen tree lodged between some other trees. Turns out I was swaying with the trees in the very gentle breeze even though I was not conscious of it until I felt the falling sensation.

In other words, being a human is gross. All the bodily fluids, all the emotional/hormonal fluctuations... I would much rather be a tree, and probably will be one day when I die and my materials resettle into the cycle of life, preservation, and death. I'm not rushing there tho... lol

Entermaid March 22nd, 2014 10:11 AM

Being a human is what I am.

If I were anything else, I would not be me.

(Thus why I don't get the whole reincarnation thing)

Essentially, do I like being me?

YES.

Bellsprout March 22nd, 2014 11:20 AM

Not going to lie sometimes I really hate being a human and I think to myself "OUT OF ALL THE THINGS I COULD OF BEEN" Humans just have so much expected of them compared to any other living thing. I once read a post somewhere that said "humans are the only living thing that pays to live on their own planet." It's like I have to pay to live here and all these things are expected of me whereas if I was idk a cat? what would I really be doing... Sleeping and eating all day pretty much. And that's totally fine if you're a cat because nothing else is expected of one. But as a human if I were to sleep and eat all day that would be practically a crime and I would be labeled as a lazy loser probably a mooch too.

Yoshikko March 22nd, 2014 4:54 PM

I don't know it's just strange to think about, it's not as if you could be like "oh I'm glad I am this tree or this dog instead"...When I was little I used to like thinking about how strange it was that I was born as a human, when I could have just been born as a sheep or a towel (??!) instead, I don't really know where that came from.

The only thing I don't really like about being human is that I feel like people constantly feel like they have to achieve something, like there is something they have to do before they can die, before they qualify or feel complete. Like their life is worthless/meaningless by default and only after achieving that great something, they can finally feel worth living. Not just a few people but it's like our whole race is just built on this idea, we always want bigger and better, like it's never enough, it's not enough to have reached the moon we need to give our life more meaning and reach even further, we have to do this and that, you know what I mean? And thinking about that, ironically, makes it seem just absolutely pointless. This might sound cliché also but it's like trying to reach the pot of gold and just never getting there, that's what it feels like people are doing. But I try not to think about it too much, I think people have achieved great things too, it's not all bad.

Sage Ebock March 22nd, 2014 5:32 PM

Being a tree would suck so much right now lol. Today, this week, this year, its a good time to be a human. In fact some are calling this new age where we rule the planet "the anthropocene age". Really no better time to be on team homo sapiens sapiens.

LETS PARTY WOOOOO!!!!! lol jk

Ghost Lunis March 22nd, 2014 5:58 PM

While opposable thumbs, intellectual communication, and free will are nice, I would much rather be a squirrel.

Yukimura Tenshin April 16th, 2014 6:54 PM

I enjoy being human presently, but hopefully in this life I can accumulate enough merit to transcend suffering in the human world and become a Buddha with the reason being as humans we have the ability to transcend our suffering(physical & mental) and enter nirvana which is a state of eternal bliss.

So basically when I go through something I don't like I usually have the strength to go through as seeing the key word for every good or bad that happens to you is "impermanence".
