Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum?

In 2007, Diamond and Pearl were released onto the Nintendo DS, and in 2009 a third version, Platinum, followed.

Which of the three games do you think is the best? Why? Feel free to elaborate :D

Hikamaru December 22nd, 2013 12:37 AM

Even though Diamond had my fave version mascot of the three, I'm giving this one to Platinum mainly because it has way more features and there's more Pokemon available to catch before post-game. And the updated story was more interesting to follow.

Starry Windy December 22nd, 2013 4:47 AM

Platinum is a definitive win for me, because of many features, including better story and Distortion World which is amazing in its own right.

Popwert16 December 22nd, 2013 7:10 AM

I would choose platinum because it has many legendary Pokemon than diamond or pearl.

Shaussman December 22nd, 2013 7:32 PM

Platinum because it's so much faster.

Kikaito plush December 23rd, 2013 8:58 AM

I will choose platinum too because there is more too do post story wize.

Elysieum December 24th, 2013 9:37 AM

It has to be Platinum, hasn't it? It is an improved version of the other two. That's undeniable.

Honest December 24th, 2013 11:42 AM

Platinum, cause it was essentially an improvement of the other two. Way more features post-game as well, iirc. If only I hadn't broken my DS :O

Flakey Bear December 29th, 2013 12:49 PM

Hard to choose. I enjoyed a long time with Platinum, but i'll say Diamond. This is the Pokémon version i grewn up with and still has the neccesary fun for me.

Raimo December 29th, 2013 2:48 PM

I don't think there is too much of a decision. Platinum is superior in 10 out of 10 ways, in-game mechanics, selection of Pokémon, amount of training, etc. Perhaps if it was B/W vs D/P/PT there would be more to discuss, but here there is not.

theonirvana January 12th, 2014 3:41 AM

Platinum because it has more pokemon than the other two versions

Golden Warrior January 12th, 2014 5:40 AM

Well, I WOULD choose Platinum, but ah... I've... Never been able to play it. So, I choose Diamond which has my favorite version mascot anyhow so the choice has some backing.

Evening January 12th, 2014 7:18 PM

I accidentally voted for Diamond.
People really choose Platinum don't they?
The 4th Gen originals were not satisfying enough so Platinum wins of course.

Hiatus January 21st, 2014 5:09 AM

I prefer Platinum, as it's got improved graphics, enhanced storyline, access to more locations, and things like that. Out of all three games though, my first was Pokémon Diamond.

Sheep January 22nd, 2014 8:36 AM

Platinum because yay, cooler battle menus and Giratina had a role. The storyline was also a hefty bit better and I was glad to see Cyrus as involved as he was.

Pendraflare January 22nd, 2014 4:42 PM

What kind of question is this? Platinum, of course.

Every reason I have has already been mentioned - no more stupid slowdown, more Pokémon to use in the story, more entertaining battles, Battle Frontier, and vice versa.

Puddle January 22nd, 2014 4:48 PM

Sounds like Platinum is a clear winner. I never played that one though, so I have to give it to the one I did play, Diamond.

curiousnathan January 22nd, 2014 4:54 PM

I voted Platinum for the obvious reasons.

Platinum had an extended post-game, improved features (surfing speed being a major one!) and a larger variety of Pokemon to catch and train. Not to mention, revamped sprites and Elite Four rooms!

Shadeh January 22nd, 2014 4:56 PM

Why would you even ask this? Its sooo obvious! Platinum. It has everything from both games plus additional content.

Brendino January 23rd, 2014 12:33 AM

I'm going to have to add a +1 to Platinum here, even if I wasn't a fan of the Sinnoh games in general. Added things like the extended postgame and the inclusion of the Battle Frontier at least gave me something to do post-E4, and the Distortion World's still one of my favorite places in any Pokemon game to date.

Morgnarok January 23rd, 2014 1:09 PM

Pokemon Platinum of course. Basically was a remake of diamond and pearl with extras.

Tcoppy January 23rd, 2014 4:09 PM

Back when I didn't have Platinum I would have said Diamond was the best out of Diamond and Pearl. After I played Platinum, I simply liked it more, it's a better version of Diamond and Pearl combined. The story (even though was the same as the other two) was better, then you have the Battle Frontier (I still like Emerald's better though) and it is definately in my top four Pokemon games.

Alloute January 23rd, 2014 9:04 PM

I liked Diamond the most because the story was easier to follow. I never really liked Platinum for some reason. It just seemed like a rehash of Diamond & Pearl.

LilyAnn January 26th, 2014 7:15 PM

I liked the 4th gen a lot. And I really liked Platinum the most of the 3. The whole Distortion World was fun for me to do. And the 4th gen had introduced my favorite fire type pokemon. I love Infernape <3 I also love Dialga. Some really good pokemon :3

AluminiumOxide January 28th, 2014 5:54 AM

Diamond as its my first NDS and 4th gen Pokemon game. Also because of its great well designed Pokemon and the tiles. And also cause its great in Sprites. There are many reasons to say. And every GEN 4 games are amazing. No doubt.
