DCC

Winter Wonderland '13-'14
Daily Chit-Chat

Note: this was written by Castform. Edits will be made in due time

Here we are at Winter Wonderland everyone! Otherwise known as the wonderful home of the Daily-Chit Chat. Whether you are enjoying the perks of Winter such as Christmas or Hanukkah or just wanting this frigid cold(or hot) season to end the DCC is just the place to discuss that! Here with your fellow PC members you will find yourself discussing anything and everything that there is to discuss. From food to weather you are sure to find it here. Just make sure to stick by these few simple rules and you are sure to have a great time. Now if you will excuse me, I think it's time for me to transform into my Winter form because it's quite chilly outside. Have fun everyone!

Rules:

Stick with the current topic! If you don't like the current topic, or don't know anything about it, and wish to talk about something else, you have a few options, none of which are "blatantly post something off topic". You can either post something related to the current topic and slyly put what you want to talk about there, or simply try your best with the topic at hand. Anything other than that will be considered off topic.

Try to keep up! So you want to talk about the current topic but don't know what it's about. Instead of asking what the current topic is, read a few posts and find out for yourself. It's not that difficult, and would only take a minute or two.

Converse. Don't just make a post saying "Hi DCC, what's up?!" and leave it at that. Posts of that nature will be considered off topic.

The 25 characters/4 words rule. Like it or not, this one must be followed.

No trolling/flaming/hating. This thread is meant to be a light hearted one, but if Andy, Dipu or I notice things are going out of hand, we won't hesitate to butt in. Light-hearted as it may be, it still follows PC's rules.

Now that you have read the rules it's time to give you the most important one, have fun! Begin chatting away you wonderful people :D

Zeffy December 21st, 2013 8:03 AM

wow this thread is so empty! hopefully no more dupes in this thread :3

antemortem December 21st, 2013 8:04 AM

I'm staying at home for the first time in a few years now. That's fine with me, though, despite it being 80 degrees when it should be 2.

Sheep December 21st, 2013 8:16 AM

I'm going to be at home for Christmas but am making plans to go visit my boyfriend afterwards. So excited! <3 And the presents I got for myself should be arriving very soon, though one of them will be a little late. ;_;

Hikamaru December 21st, 2013 8:24 AM

I'll probably be staying home for Christmas again, but god the weather is so stinking hot in Australia right now. Thankfully I can still look at images of snowflakes on Tumblr to keep my mind off the heat.

Honest December 21st, 2013 8:30 AM

I'm gonna be home for Christmas most likely. Don't celebrate it :c If I'm able to go somewhere with my girlfriend, I will, but that doesn't look likely.

Kanzler December 21st, 2013 8:44 AM

I think I'm going to try my best and stay out of this DCC :P

Honest December 21st, 2013 8:54 AM

You've already failed. Shame shame shame.

Aeroblast December 21st, 2013 8:57 AM

I hope the double posting madness is gone along with the last thread.

Meganium December 21st, 2013 9:03 AM

I'm going to be very very busy starting today....Christmas is really beating me hard. xD Right now I got two holiday hams cookin' and going to do some last last last last min shopping with my sister who's visiting from San Diego and still hasn't started on her shopping.

And yet, it's family bonding and all. xD

█▄ █▄█ ▄█▀ ▀█▀ December 21st, 2013 9:28 AM

The only 'special' thing about christmas for me is this

I don't celebrate it but the Kill la Kill ost releasing on 25th is just a sweet gift for me if nothing more. I mean, I will listen to it all day everyday. DON'T LOSE YOUR WAAYYYY~

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 9:29 AM

Hello new DCC! :D

My dad is already wrapping presents for Wednesday morning.. but usually my parents don't do them until at least 5-7 days before Christmas.

Treecko December 21st, 2013 9:34 AM

Oh a new DCC!!

We haven't bought Christmas gifts in ages so we're not wrapping gifts. We'll be going to our aunt's party for Christmas, like every year.

Meganium December 21st, 2013 9:40 AM

gdi Dipu, the title threw me off. I just legit checked the DCC just a second ago. xD

Honest December 21st, 2013 9:41 AM

Sorry! Just figured it'd be a neat way to remind people :P

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 9:43 AM

Eh, I'm sure that everyone who has wanted to vote in MotY has already just about done so

█▄ █▄█ ▄█▀ ▀█▀ December 21st, 2013 9:43 AM

Bad move dipu. Deadpool gun' spank ya for eet.

Meganium December 21st, 2013 9:47 AM

I haven't lmao. And I'll be doing so right about.....*click* now!

Cordelia December 21st, 2013 10:01 AM

Yeah the participation in MOTY always leave something to be desired...

█▄ █▄█ ▄█▀ ▀█▀ December 21st, 2013 10:09 AM

I'd imagine most members being like me. I've ony voted in one section specific Moty - A&D. And my post is incomplete there too lmao.

Either way, most aren't active outside of a section or two and those are the ones where they vote.

Treecko December 21st, 2013 10:13 AM

Don't worry Dipu, I already voted in CCP's MOTY and a few others iirc. I usually vote for the main one and in the sections I frequent often enough.

Aeroblast December 21st, 2013 10:20 AM

I haven't voted because... well... I still don't think I know people well enough in this forum.

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 10:22 AM

This year was the first time I've participated in member of the year, but that's because I was a lurker turned poster partially xD

█▄ █▄█ ▄█▀ ▀█▀ December 21st, 2013 10:33 AM

@lugia - pretty much why many others like you and me haven't voted in sections other than the ones where they're active.

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 10:51 AM

I think that the sections I visit are plenty for me to get to know a lot of those active around PC, except for maybe FG which isn't a section I venture into all too often.

antemortem December 21st, 2013 10:52 AM

I know people well enough in most sections to vote, but I've only voted in ones like CCP and my own forum, as well as Battle Center.

Sheep December 21st, 2013 11:01 AM

I haven't voted anywhere yet uuugh. ;( Too many people stick out to me this time around, it's impossible. I'll probably head over to Pokemon Clubs to cast votes there though, since I'm most familiar with that board nowadays~

Dragon December 21st, 2013 11:04 AM

I was a little reluctant to vote tooooo, since everyone I've spoken with was great in one way or another. ;-; I gave it a shot anyways, buuuut, I'd like to give a shoutout to those people somehow~

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 11:50 AM

I'm not sure if I was reluctant to vote or not in MotY, but mainly because I edited my ballot at least seven or eight times in the span of an hour.

Nathan December 21st, 2013 12:40 PM

Haven't voted in the MotY for now since there's so many people that stick to me and too little space to vote ;-;

Cordelia December 21st, 2013 1:47 PM

I voted in the main moty and tech and internet one but that's about it.

Hiatus December 21st, 2013 5:36 PM

I cast my votes in MotY few weeks ago. It's not complete yet, but will get it done before the 31st… if I remember to, haha.

Mark Kamill December 21st, 2013 5:36 PM

Haven't voted at all, was way too inactive to make such choices.Anyway, just came back from a concert, and I feel like an old man right now. So many stupid 15 year olds its not funny, couldn't even have a decent mosh.

Sableye~ December 21st, 2013 5:42 PM

I haven't voted in any of the MotY threads and I have no plans to. I have friends in all of the forums that I'm active enough to be able to vote, so I'm too biased.

Apparently I have one vote on the main thread (favorite female), and several in GE for one category. Last I checked, I was winning the latter.

Alexander Nicholi December 21st, 2013 6:05 PM

I don't even think the person who I voted for MotY for has seen my post. Then again, I got like one vote in something out of all the votes (thank you AW!). Doesn't matter to me. Popularity isn't everything, right?

What concert did you go to?

Sheep December 21st, 2013 6:18 PM

I am 100% not a concert person. I will be boring and sit in silence at home with hot chocolate. ^-^

But as for MotY, I don't have plans to vote in the main event ballots. I could probably write an essay with all the people I'd want to include.

Alexander Nicholi December 21st, 2013 6:21 PM

Concerts are awesome. I went with my dad and one of his old band buddies named Toast to a punk concert in Pueblo, CO. There was a mosh pit and everything! :D

Cordelia December 21st, 2013 6:24 PM

I only go to chill concerts like Death Cab and stuff like that.

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 6:37 PM

I've never even been to a large concert before so I wouldn't even know what it'd feel like..

Hikamaru December 21st, 2013 7:08 PM

I voted in the main poll and some of the forum-specific ones. I'm surprised I'm getting so many mentions in the main poll for "Most PC spirited". Heck, I even seem to be winning one of the categories in the General Pokemon Gaming Discussions variant.

Well, you have over 10k posts in PC and are one of the most active members in the community, so it's not a surprise to me.

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 7:16 PM

I've never really been keen on popularity contests such as MotY, but I still cast my ballot just for the fun of it.

Nathan December 21st, 2013 7:23 PM

Still I don't get why I'm most likely to fall asleep on my computer >_>

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 7:28 PM

Heh, name changes, I kinda forgot those got reinstated there lmao

But I can agree that name changes coming back at a time like this kinda have made things a little more difficult for identifying who's who for things such as MotY

Somniac December 21st, 2013 7:45 PM

I was wondering why I hadn't got any updates from the DCC in around 11 hours....

I'm going to be spending it with my GFs family. It's the first time in 5 years that i'll be spending a holiday with them so I'm a little nervous. I've met them before and they're really nice though so it should be good.

I'm not looking forward to the overly christmasy-ness of everything though.

Earlier this month I was at a large concert for a pretty huge meta l /metalcore band which are from my hometown. I got shoved around in a spontaneous moshing outbreak [away from the actual pit] quite a lot until a really gentlemanly giant of a metal-head [Dude was like 2 foot taller than me] helped me up.

And people have such a bad opinion of metal-heads a lot of the time. It's a shame.

You usually have pretty interesting signatures / avatars but I just feel like I have to say.
This one is adorable, and suits you. You should keep it, it's a pleasure to look at.

I should go vote in that MOTY thing now, I guess.

Cordelia December 21st, 2013 8:00 PM

Somniac, that just goes to show that you cannot judge a book by its cover. I've met the nicest people and they just happen to be metalheads or goths or whatever.

Yeah I have pretty diverse ones as of late. My style has evolved a lot.

And thanks, I'm doing Elsa for the Christmas period and I'll probably change it up again after Christmas.

So many 1's... I already have 3 of them in my full birthdate already. Heck I was born on the 1st of a month (the 10th month in fact, which has a 1 in it) so I guess that's why it might be one of my lucky numbers.

Speaking of which... holy ****, I just realized I passed the 2000 post mark.

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 8:09 PM

Back in the day, I had never thought I'd be able to pass the 5,000 post mark here on PC, but that was back in 2011 when I didn't even have 100 posts yet and saw all of these people that joined after I did with like 4k posts.

Astinus December 21st, 2013 8:19 PM

It's always kind of interesting when the topic of post count is brought up. Only because the realization that I have over 6000 posts on this forum sets in every time, and I wonder just how I managed to get that many posts here.

Also, it's fun to hit particular number milestones. Despite me saying that post count isn't a big deal to me, I still like watching the number increase.

Alexander Nicholi December 21st, 2013 8:37 PM

Does anyone keep albums for their post count milestones? I got one with my 250, 500, and 750 postcount marks, and I'm working really hard on getting 1000 posts. tPC'll be the first forum that I've ever had a thousand posts on!

Nathan December 21st, 2013 8:39 PM

No, I don't keep albums for them. Never used the album anyway xD probs because I'm too lazy to check how many posts I have and when I reach a milestone :P

Tsutarja December 21st, 2013 8:45 PM

I screencap milestones for sure, but I don't have an album dedicated for them.. they just go into my general PC screengrabs album

Hikamaru December 21st, 2013 8:49 PM

I screencap milestones every now and then, they're quite fun to do.

Honest December 21st, 2013 9:06 PM

I'm just aiming to go over 9000.

wanted to say that SO bad

Kanzler December 21st, 2013 9:14 PM

I used to keep track of my postcount, but somewhere after reaching 1000 I stopped caring.

Sir Codin December 21st, 2013 9:18 PM

I never really cared much about post count.

Aeroblast December 21st, 2013 9:19 PM

Strange thing to say, but I care but don't care about post counts at the same time. I like seeing it grow slowly (or out of nowhere if you're not paying attention), but other than that, eh.

Starry Windy December 21st, 2013 9:27 PM

Currently I was aiming for bigger post counts because I was aiming to get a blog in here because it takes 5,000 posts to be able to use it. Even though, I want to do it with my own pace though, because it's no good if I force it too hard.

Aeroblast December 21st, 2013 9:28 PM

I don't use blogs in here, because I'd figure nobody would even know I posted one.

This is why I think there should be a feature that I'm notified if someone make a new blog entry, especially if I subscribe it, so that I won't miss it. (as in this forum, not via e-mails)

Hiatus December 21st, 2013 9:36 PM

Hit 2,000 posts few weeks ago. Not sure when I'll be getting to 3,000, but my guess is that it'd be sometime around late February or early March. :p I don't use blogs, either. I may post an entry someday, but have no idea what the topic would be about.

Doing the math, if you had 2000 posts few weeks ago, at that rate you'd have your 3000th post by end of January.

It's because we must kick off the Christmas with a blast, that the DCC is cheerful right now. It's holiday season, after all. I can't believe it's in 3 more days. And oh boy. Many Greninjasks at the same time.

I remember wanting to try and reach 5,000 posts for a blog, but I ended up getting a blog before even hitting that mark due to being supporter. And yeah I decided to not do a traditional Christmas avatar/sig theme this year and opted for Elsa for a change.

I mean, I can't have the same boring theme every Christmas can I?

Yep, like Christmas theme dominates everything today lol
Variations are nice so that we won't be bored, so that's nice Hika.

Btw, in my case, I didn't using any Christmas theme except for a merely simple texts in my sig a year ago that I've decided to use it now. I was a heavy noob a year ago {XD}

Well, down here in Australia we usually celebrate the food part similar to most other countries but yeah sometimes Australians like to have a swim at the beach given how hot it gets here during summer. I also like to look at pics of snowflakes, ice and other winter stuff just to take my mind off the heat given how much I sweat right now.

Plus, there's always those kids who love visiting those department store Santas. Westfield, which is one of the biggest shopping mall chains in the country, have very beautiful decorations up during the Christmas period.

You didn't forgot that I'm celebrating Christmas without any snowy gimmicks or everything right? (except for the decors) Everything is hawt in tropical area like Indonesia. The malls have already set up many Christmas tree, and not to tell, Christmas songs are playing around as well ever since some weeks ago, and the Santa will show up at malls too.

I'd imagine how boiling hot it'd be over there for you Windy, having a Christmas during summer like me often causes me and my fellow Australians to find a way to make it interesting. In fact, in Australia right now, a commercial for the German-originated supermarket chain Aldi depicts these people dressed as Santa and riding on surfboards.

There's even a song by the Australian children's performing group Hi-5 which sings about Santa wearing shorts. What a way to reference the Australian summer that we have during Christmas!

Hi-5? I missed that show already, I haven't watching it for years now due to my current age, but I still like that show. And yeah, that's interesting indeed to see Santa wearing shorts. Usually he's wearing a red jacket or clothes for me.

I used to watch their show when I was little, but the group has been changing lineups so often as of late I like completely forget it every single time. But yeah, I did watch a bit of some Christmas stuff last night, Australian TV usually loves getting a bit happy with Christmas-themed shows around this time.

And then after this there's New Year's Eve, if one doesn't know already my home city of Sydney has one of the biggest fireworks displays in the world. They always love to put more effort into the fireworks every year, and funnily enough it's not going to be broadcasted on a major commercial channel this year but on the ABC instead. I wonder how the ABC's lack of commercial advertising will make the experience different.

I wonder how the ABC's lack of commercial advertising will make the experience different.

I've seen the firework fest in your area Hika, since 2 years ago, and it was intense, I like it. I just hope this year's firework fest will be much better than what I see before, even though it's broadcasted on ABC. Not to mention that one or two of the major news channel in my country showcases many New Year firework fests too (and Sydney is among one of them).

Duuuuude, Aldi was the shiz back in Carolina. They beat everyone's prices on next to everything!

I had absolutely no idea they were a super popular international chain. That boggles my mind!

I have an Aldi in my town in Ohio. I go there every month to purchase Tomato Soup, Milk, Tuna & Apple Cider. Except, Aldi isn't a supermarket, so they don't have 2305209348208 things Walmart has.

Aldi has been heavily expanding in Australia the last 12 years. In fact, they now have way more stores here now then they did in 2001 when they first broke into Australia. I don't trust their products though, I have something against "generic" brands.

Starry Windy December 22nd, 2013 12:11 AM

I don't see Aldi in my country yet, but my country have some equivalent stores like hypermart (yep, the lowercase on h is intentional), Giant, Carrefour, and Indomaret, among all things. And I personally prefer buying the well-known products more than their own products for some reason.

We have Aldi stores here in my area as well.. and I kinda figured as such that they were one of those international supermarket chains, because of a name like that xD we never shop at them though

Upside-down.

Aldi has expanded a lot in the UK recently too. The only thing i'ev ever bought from there was a big bottle of peach schnapps.
It was pretty good considering it was a £5 bottle of schnapps.

Unrelated: I now have a nice colorful name.

I have a thing against generic brands of food, It's because I think they'll taste bad.

And wow congrats on the supportership Somniac! Green looks kinda sexy on you.

My post count exploded this year -- from about 1800 to what it is now and who knows what it'll be by year's end xD Yeah, I know I'm reaching towards an old topic but who cares xD

And Somniac, congratulations :) It does fit you quite well.

I still need to increase from this Tier 1 :[ hopefully it can be a Christmas present to PC for my parents to let me donate here.

Whenever I post in here with one of the few black names I feel so down. I know labels don't matter as much as quality, but still. :(

Funnily enough, the green italics have grown on me so much I find it hard to look back on a screenshot of my name when it was blue, or heck even when it wasn't italic or colored or anything. Plus, it seems like all my profile designs are taking advantage of supporter perks these days.

I was working toward 5,000 posts, too, until Dipu decided be to awesome and give me the supportership he won. My memory hates me and I didn't know him real well, so I'm having trouble remembering, but I think it was Mr. X who put the supportership up in the first place.

The operator symbols look a little funky like this, but I don't mind. I'm used to having a green/italicized name, so it would seem weird otherwise.

Meganium December 22nd, 2013 8:21 AM

I had around 5,000 posts at the beginning of the year. Where did my life go...

Nathan December 22nd, 2013 8:38 AM

I made all my current posts in a 1-year period considering I only started being active in December. Seeing as I have no life, achieving more will be rather easy.

Congratulations on the Supportership! Also, peach schnapps what? You like peach? That's my favorite flavor, or in your case, flavour!!

Down the drain, where else?

I've only made about 300 posts all year long in 2013. That's more than everyone combined, woot woot!
