I'm expecting some quality brewed tea from this cafe.

Shining Raichu December 23rd, 2013 4:06 AM

We don't serve tea, just vitriol

Tsutarja December 23rd, 2013 4:07 AM

I haven't had coffee in a long time and wow this new name is making me want some

The new name of Chit Chat and Polls makes me reminded of Coffee as well at some certain point

And so it begins.
And ends, I suppose.

I'm about to leave to go to my GFs house for Christmas, Embarrass her in-front of her parents, Eat loads of food, and try to survive whilst having no internet at all.
I'm pretty nervous, and not looking forward to not having internet.

This isn't going to be easy without copious amounts of alcohol.

Take care PC! I'll see you on the other side of Christmas. When I next see you I expect you to be plump, satiated, and have a face covered in gravy due to falling asleep in your dinner.

Starry Windy December 23rd, 2013 4:41 AM

Speaking of Christmas, I don't have any plans except for staying at home, or maybe some visit to malls. And I think Christmas is the great time to be together after all, so that's great to spending time with someone special to you.

Guess I should have told you I didn't consume anything then.

Mark Kamill December 23rd, 2013 5:37 AM

I'm staying home for X-Mas, with the parents. Nothing special, just a normal day with more food then usual.

Tsutarja December 23rd, 2013 5:45 AM

^ Pretty much the same agenda here.. wake up early, open gifts, eat breakfast, enjoy gifts, listen to Christmas music, maybe watch a movie, then have dinner.

Mark Kamill December 23rd, 2013 5:48 AM

New years though, forget it. Save up cash, stay home for an hour after midnight, wait 2 hours for friends to come downtown, then party till the suns up. Can't wait.

hughes December 23rd, 2013 6:26 AM

Let's see...Christmas plans this year...On Christmas Eve we're going to my one aunt's house and we're going out to eat, opening gifts, etc, and we go to church at night. On Christmas day it's usually just us opening gifts and then I usually want to be left alone the rest of the day, but that's the way I am every day. :P My parents let me buy some of my gifts for myself, so I know I got Wolf Children so I might watch that again. Then we'll be going to another aunt's house that night.

Dreg December 23rd, 2013 7:10 AM

I don't think that we have plans over the Christmas, except helping my Ma tomorrow with making a quiche and pie, for Christmas and Boxing Day. New Years Eve/Day is probably where I'll have plans.

Honest December 23rd, 2013 7:16 AM

Zero plans for Christmas afaik. Why doesn't my religion celebrate it :c

Pinkie-Dawn December 23rd, 2013 7:22 AM

Well I'm staying home for Christmas, unless there's going to be a party going on at one of my relative's house to celebrate the holiday.

Its okay Dakota, no secrets need to be hidden. We shall love you forever & ever.

I'm chilling at my sister's for Christmas break. There are at least 8 kids in the house. Kids are crazy, yeah?

Livewire December 23rd, 2013 9:51 AM

I actually have to work for 6 hrs on Christmas, but I get holiday pay (+4 hours added to my total amount of hours worked) and I'll be handsomely rewarded at $15.00 an hour. So it's worth it I guess. But I'm headed straight home afterwards for presents and good food.

Sableye~ December 23rd, 2013 9:54 AM

Good luck surviving that, Sector. D:

I don't really have plans, aside from going back and forth between looking forward to Christmas and dreading it. I was never real excited (I haven't been able to make myself care much for years now) for its coming, yet I still am unhappy that this part of the season is nearly over.

You guys went and started talking about coffee and now I want to make tea. I:
(I finally found decent decaffeinated black tea...I have to avoid caffeine until my new piercings heal.)

Esper December 23rd, 2013 10:18 AM

I'd just like to stay home and do nothing for Christmas, but somehow or other someone always ropes me into going somewhere for dinner with someone's family. Always awkward eating dinner with someone's family.

I go to my aunt's party every year and I know that feeling of dealing with awkward relatives asking you questions like "Do you have a girlfriend/Are you ating anyone?" or "Why don't you have a job yet?" .

This is a good way to deal with that XD:

(Slight foul language. Not meant to be serious obviously.)

I'm used to having kids around being noisy are heck. The only thing that bothers/annoys me is when the kids keep asking me to same gosh damn questions every 10 minutes. I have 29 nieces & nephews, I'm always talking or hanging out with at least one of the kids everyday. Yeah. Its nothing new. That's why when people say having a kid or two is so tiring at the end of the day, I just wonder how they would deal with things if they were in my shoes. Maybe because my stamina or whatever its called is sky high or something? I can do stuff for hours straight without needing a break. I guess I got problems. Ha

Sylphiel December 23rd, 2013 11:05 AM

I think I'm going to be dragged over to my in-laws' house for christmas. Which, okay, I don't mind so much since they live only a few blocks away. I'd rather have that than the annual "hey let's go out to West Virginia to visit grandparents and relatives I still barely know". :P Although, I wouldn't be surprised if I was also poked into helping them cook as well.

I miss Christmas at my parents' house, but alas they live several states away and we didn't think to make plans in time to fly down there this year. :(

Sableye~ December 23rd, 2013 11:15 AM

I don't know that I could tolerate that, Sector. I don't spend much time around kids, and I pretty much become a clumsy idiot around them haha. I would not make for a very good mother.

Ahaha I remember having Christmas dinner with my great aunt and uncle when I was a kid. I think that's the only time I've spent Christmas with people other than close family. Haven't done that in years, but I don't mind. It's different being around my aunt now that my uncle is dead. Besides, spending the holiday with her and her boyfriend might be a little weird.

Tsutarja December 23rd, 2013 11:30 AM

Christmas this year is just going to be me and my parents.. my brother has to work on Christmas this year since he took off for Thanksgiving and the work he does requires someone to be on staff at all times.

Alexander Nicholi December 23rd, 2013 12:12 PM

This year I'm going to be having two Christmases; one with my father in one with my mother. Christmas with my dad is going to suck - he'll probably get me something stupid like last year when he bought me a "bike computer" as a joke on how much I love computers. Note: my dad is a horrible gift-giver. One year for my parents' anniversary he got my mother (who was in the Army at the time) an amplifier. He's a guitarist! ><

Christmas with my mother's going to be a lot better, though, which we're having next Sunday. She hopefully got that WD 1.5 TB external hard drive I wanted, and she says I'm getting $100 to spend off of her credit card, of which $75 is going to me as Tier 6 supportership and the other $25 to two other people here. :3

Kanzler December 23rd, 2013 3:12 PM

I now know how Starbucks sells its overpriced sandwiches: they feed the people working their for hours on end, like me on this unfortunate day :(

Tsutarja December 23rd, 2013 3:16 PM

I've heard that Starbucks coffee is rather expensive, even though I've never had to buy any nor do my parents ever buy from them. Usually when my parents get coffee on their way to work, they stop at Dunkin Donuts.

Kanzler December 23rd, 2013 3:20 PM

Yeah I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur myself, haven't figured out which brands are better than the others. All I know is give me that French Vanilla :P

Dter ic December 23rd, 2013 3:22 PM

It's been decided that on Christmas we're going to chruch in the morning. (I find it amiusing finding out what presents the children get - last year one said they got an iPhone) Then watch the first hunger games film after in preparation for the second film at the cinema on boxing day. Finally a nice roast turkey to finish the day off ;)

Tsutarja December 23rd, 2013 3:24 PM

Our Christmas dinner is pretty much going to consist of everything we had for Thanksgiving, except that we're having ham instead of chicken. Every Christmas we have ham, though the side courses tend to change, with the exception being green bean casserole.

Treecko December 23rd, 2013 3:33 PM

My Christmas dinner is usually whatever my aunt makes. She's Lebanese so lots of Lebanese food; Kibbeh, spinach pies, Lebanese rice (which I forget the name of) , etc and the typical things you have at a Christmas party turkey, ham, stuffing, pumpkin or apple pie, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc. I love coming to her house for the Lebanese food though. So good. <3

Aeroblast December 23rd, 2013 4:08 PM

I'm guessing that I'm going to spend the entire Christmas playing on my new PS4.

Mark Kamill December 23rd, 2013 4:42 PM

We're probably just gonna have various meats, and what not. In other news we put together a heating system to day that makes the house smell like heating gas and well, it smells. Nothing serious, but enough to mellow you out. I'm kinda liking it.

Hiatus December 23rd, 2013 4:42 PM

For Christmas dinner, we usually have mashed potato, baked chicken, green salad, samosas, and some vegetable soup. When we're done eating, we get to have hot chocolate. I like 'em sweet, personally, so I always put about three to four spoons of sugar into my cup. :p

Honest December 23rd, 2013 5:12 PM

Hiatus December 23rd, 2013 5:43 PM

Oh, dear, that would be sick. Hm. Let's see if I can mess around with Photoshop during my month off from school. ;3

Dipu and Andy photoshopped into the same picture? That I must see.

Mark Kamill December 23rd, 2013 7:01 PM

I still don't get why all the sudden we're a cafe. I mean, okay we've had so much coffee discussions lately, but what was wrong with just Chit Chat?

Alexander Nicholi December 23rd, 2013 8:46 PM

Cause polls aren't important anymore, that's why.

I was stricken with food poisoning for the past two days. My muscles were dried out, my joints were inflamed, not to mention a huge headache too. Pretty much my whole body (particularly my shoulders) was on fire. It was all I could do to sleep! -_-

Long story short, don't ever eat at truck stop cafes… Or at least don't eat their pie, no matter how good the service is.

Honest December 23rd, 2013 8:51 PM

^essentially that as to why Polls were taken out. Notice no Poll of the Month anymore. As for why café, well, it sounded a lot more nicer, and also just fit the theme of the section, if you ask me.

Honest December 23rd, 2013 9:00 PM

They wore out their shtick a while ago, if you ask me.

Meganium December 23rd, 2013 9:03 PM

*breathes in the smell of coffee around this lovely section* now that's more like it imo!

Honest December 23rd, 2013 9:07 PM

Were they really polls, though?

Honest December 23rd, 2013 9:31 PM

I mean, you can still make poll threads, though :P Nothing against them!

Treecko December 23rd, 2013 9:36 PM

I never got why the threads in this section were called polls in the first place. I just thought of this section as a place to ask random questions and off-topic discussions that don't fit anywhere else.

bobandbill December 23rd, 2013 9:50 PM

Should have just changed it to Chit Chat & Poles.

Honest December 23rd, 2013 10:11 PM

Wouldn't dancing and poles fit better, though?

Hikamaru December 23rd, 2013 10:54 PM

Well, a poll is like where people can voice opinions. I don't think the name change is too bad, it's still a section where we like, post and go, aka plain old chit chat.

Oh, and nice forum splash too!

Sector December 23rd, 2013 10:56 PM

Is a Café the same thing as a sports bar?

Honest December 23rd, 2013 10:59 PM

I've actually considered 'post and go' to be the polar opposite of chit chat. Think about it logically, in a conversation, you don't just drop a word and then leave. You keep coming back for more. Granted, that's not being enforced, as it's one way to use the forum, but it's what I feel would be more laid back.

Idk, its late and im rambling

Somniac December 24th, 2013 2:08 AM

So here I am at my SOs parents house. Using wireless tethering to bruteforce a internet connection.

I ended up driving, and we nearly drowned. South wales is flooding pretty badly! [Merry Christmas amirite]

On another note: I just posed my thread in the sadly neglected section: The Creeper Encyclopedia.
All you supporters, go check it out!

And to everyone in general, have yourselves some nice holidays

Edit: !

No one should have to be treated like crap to earn the respect of a bunch of basement dwellers that likely have less of a life than you. I had to learn that lesson the hard way!
