Biggest Buzzkill.
You're grinding, you're defeating gym leaders, you're just about to save when...... BAM! DS freezes or emulator shuts off. This JUST happened to me. I just defeated the Third Gym in Black and was literally in the process of going to save when all of a sudden, my computer randomly shut off.
Don't you just hate this so much and doesn't it just make you want to stop playing for a while? |
never happened to me, but one time my brother was doing a baby-pokemon only run where he just beat gym 5 (ghost) (and he had a really hard time on) and his PC restarted. he was reeeeeeally annoyed... though he has re-beaten it since.

Well I do remember something similiar. When I played through Black on the emulator a few years back, I had gotten to the very end and the credits started rolling.
That is when I realized how stupid it had been of me because the emulator couldn't save the game so I resorted to using the save-mechanic built into the emulator itself instead throughout my entire playthrough. I was sad when my entire playthrough vanished, but oh well, atleast I got to experience the story. Maybe I'll buy it for my 3DS some day so I can transfer some sick pokémans to my X game through it! |
When my clock finally died in my original Gold. I didn't pay attention and when I went to save, yeah, I couldn't. I made it to the third gym in a few hours and really liked my team set up.
|
It's never happened to me, fortunately. Even if it did, I don't think I'd be too upset over it as I always save. If my game crashed, I could simply reset it and pick up from where I left off. :]
|
I save after almost every battle or event. Before I log off, I save 2 or 3 times. I'm extra careful, too careful even. I hope it never happens to me!
|
I think it was gen 3 and I went from gym 3 to 6 in a few hours but never saved and my GBA died on me
|
I usually always save at one point or another, thankfully I've never had a case of my DS/3DS freezing or dying on me.
|
It has happened to me, usually what would happen is the gameboy/DS would die, or I would drop it and it would freeze. It's happened too many times though so now I save very ofen.
The worst is when you do save and a sibling restarts/saves over your file. Has happened to me twice back in the day. >.< |
I was playing LeafGreen on my GBA this morning, starting a new file, went through the tedious walk to Viridian City and back delivering the parcel, then I forgot that I haven't saved... So I pick the GBA up off the table, it slips a bit and softly nudges the table which caused the game to freeze! xD ... I'm currently on Nugget Bridge now though, all goods haha...
|
I've never had that happen in newer games. My Blue Version is super faulty though, and I was playing it on my SP one day. Accidentally bumped it against something after hours of grinding and two badges. I still haven't made up that lost progress. lol

I've lost progress before, usually because of dropping my system or it losing power. If it was at a really bad moment then yeah, it might make me rage-quit for a few hours. |
