Nice to see the brand new Ultimate Monotype thread! I don't want to start any new challenges, but as I'll be slowly going through my copy of Pokemon Y to finish all of my ultimates, I'd like to go ahead and get my stuff from the previous thread transferred!
Forum User Name: deku Pokémon Type: n/a Challenge Type: Ultimate Game(s): n/a Previous Progress: Yes -- Also, I've made quite a bit of progress on my Steel run on Ruby, so I figured I'd go ahead and kick off my updates in the new thread with an update on this challenge! In my last update, I had made it up to Mauville and was training before taking on Watson. Since then, I managed to defeat Watson (his Magneton was a pain), and travel through the Fiery Path to the route right before Fallabor Town, where I caught my third and final team member, Skarmory! I spent some time training it, then continued around to Meteor Falls to move along with the game. After I defeated Team Aqua on top of Mt. Chimney, I at last arrived in Lavaridge Town, where I defeated Flannery, who was surprisingly easy. I then traveled to Petalburg, where I defeated Norman (pretty easy again because I resist Normal attacks). Then I traveled to the eastern part of Hoenn and up to Fortree City, where I had little trouble defeating Winona. I then went south and east to Lilycove, and defeated Team Magma at Mt. Pyre and in their hideout. Having completed that, I surfed to Mossseep where I took on and defeated the twins Tate and Liza. After earning my seventh gym badge, I finished up the plot line with Team Magma, eventually defeating Groudon in the Cave of Origin. And currently, I'm training up my team before taking on Wallace! Well, I guess I have all singles now? I seem to remember Necrum saying there would be a link to previous Ultimate Champions (through Gen 5)...
Anyway, I have completed all types through Gen 5, although I am still in the postgame of my Water monotype on Black 2, so I will be posting updates on that when I get to it. :) |

The prefix mono means one. Therefore, one time. If you want challenges like that, you're welcome to make a DuoType Challenge thread (: |
I was using your sign up as an example is all, Sinxdx.
Thank you River, that's exactly right. I made a call a while back when a situation came up where someone was trying to stack all kinds of challenges together, and it resulted in that rule. It is primarily in place to avoid exploitation of the rules. I've been refining this set of rules for over a year now, you can trust that everything has a reason for being there. |
Here we are, another new thread and i still haven't finished water!
I'd like to first ask, can i get my completed singles from the old thread over here? I can fill an application for them: Forum User Name: Jespoke Pokémon Type: Ground, Ghost, Dragon, Fire, Normal, Fighting Challenge Type: Single Game(s): They are all Kanto, though i can go dig up what specific versions they were on if necessary Previous Progress: Yes, all finished. Some of them are from Alakazam17's ancient thread though. Then moving on to current challenges, I'll start with my single Electric Kanto to add to the club, and the continuation of my Water ultimate that started way back in the early parts of the ancient thread: Forum User Name: Jespoke Pokémon Type: Electric Challenge Type: Single Game(s): Fire Red Previous Progress: Yes, update very soon Forum User Name: Jespoke Pokémon Type: Water Challenge Type: Ultimate Game(s): Leaf Green, Soul Silver, Emerald, Platinum, Black 2, X Previous Progress: Yes, not for the current game yet though. And then there is my finished Bug ultimate from the old thread, which i will be doing 6th gen on as soon as Pokebank releases. Signup will have to wait i think. |

What you can't do is make a team that does 2 monotypes at once. Meaning you can't have a team of Pelipper, Gyarados, and Swanna and say it counts as both a Water type run AND a Flying type run. It has to be one or the other. |

Electric Kanto update:
- Beat LT Surge and taught Shock Wave to Tim - Took met 4 blackouts and even more long walks back, but i got through Rock Tunnel (Long live Brick Break) Here things get messy, with a lot of skipped stuff to make up for being resisted a fair bit - Beat rocket base and Pokemon Tower - Ran to the safari zone for HM's and beat koga to be able to use them - Went to power plant and caught Jon the Magneton and 4 the Electabuzz (If you don't get the reference, go watch more of their stuff) - Began training them all over the map, including Silph co - Beat Blaine, Sevii, Erika and Sabrina on one 30min bus ride - Bought 50 coins in the game corner. Since I am doing Gardenia run and my team is Grass-types only I can count is as grass mono aswell. So here is another sign-up by me:
Forum User Name: AoTora Pokémon Type: Grass Challenge Type: Single Game(s): Platinum Previous Progress: No Also - Normal types are nightmare to use against rock types- started normal monotype on Ruby few days ago and it took me about two hours to defeat first gym leader and I ended up having seriously overleveled team >_< Update on that run is coming up in few minutes just need to open my game first =) So here goes: Ruby mono normal update. ° Picked Mudkip as a starter because I will need it as an HM slave later on. Grinded him to level 10 and defeated my rival for first time. ° Got Pokeballs and stuff and finally I got my first real team member! Lina the zigzagoon! Grinded her up for a little bit than met my dad. ° Helped Wally catching his ralts. ° Met my second team member - Tai the Taillow. ° Got to Rustbro city and caught next two team members - Lilly the Skitty and Larry the Whismur. ° Grinded like insane just to beat first gym leader. ° Retrieved the Goods and got the letter to Steven. ° Brawly was a piece of cake for Tai that evolved into swellow after the fight. ° Got to my next destination - the city of electricity! And failed to defeat Watson with my underleveled team - so I guess that it's grinding time again before I can move on. My final two team members will be giraffarig and zangoose. Okay, so after 6 total hours of car trips yesterday, I finally have some progress done!
I am in Cyllage City, and have already beaten the gym there! Team - http://serebii.net/xy/pokemon/657.png Reth Level 28 @No Item ~Round ~Water Pulse ~Lick ~Quick Attack Reth has always been a great member of my team, ever since he was first selected out of that bag, and has probly been MVP so far, because of the fact that he tears through any and everything so far http://serebii.net/xy/pokemon/400.png Bill Level 27 @No Item ~Headbutt ~Water Gun ~Hyper Fang ~Rollout Yes, I did decide to put a Bibarel on my team, and with the bidoof meme floating around the internet, I have decided that it isn't the strongest pokrmon in any category, but it is fun to use, and it hits hard, which is what you need to succeed in game, and I do not regret picking him for my team! http://www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon/008.png Toise Level 27 @No Item ~Tackle ~Tail Whip ~Bubble ~Bite Toise isn't the greatest pokemon on my team, he doesn't hit hard, but he has something special to him that I can't describe; but I can only hope that it is strength to come. |
Time for the last update on the Hoenn portion of my Steel Ultimate!
I started off with training my team a bit to take on Wallace, who proved to be the hardest battle up to this point. While training, I also spent some time diversifying my team's moves in preparation for the Elite Four. After getting the final gym badge, I surfed over to EverGrande and quickly went through Victory Road. At the end, I ran into and easily defeated Wally. Since I had spent a whole grinding before the battle against Wallace, I didn't really train much before tackling the Elite Four. Sydney and Phoebe were no challenge at all, but Glacia was a little difficult. Walrein's Surf was too strong for Mawile or Aggron to deal with, so Skarmory had to whittle down its HP. Drake was much easier to defeat, except his Salamence whose Flamethrower easily took out my Ice Beam spammer Mawile. After defeating Drake, I moved on to Steven who wasn't much of a challenge. I was afraid of Metagross at first, but when it took damage from Spikes I realized that it didn't have Levitate which was a relief, since it fell easily to Aggron's Earthquake. Overall, my team was really well rounded and the only reason Mawile ended up one level above the rest is due to the differences in experience growth rate. Team: http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/303.png Mawile / lv55 / Crunch, Ice Beam, Brick Break, Fire Blast http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/306.png Aggron / lv54 / Return, Earthquake, Surf, Thunderbolt http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/227.png Skarmory / lv54 / Steel Wing, Fly, Aerial Ace, Spikes Quote:

Ultimate Normal Monotype Challenge: White Version
5/8So, when I arrived in Driftveil city, I caught myself a Deerling as soon as I could, and when it wasn't male I couldn't call it Bambi. Went with Molly because I couldn't think of anything better. I was extremely disappointed that the one mon that should have given me some advantage over a Ground Type gym didn't know any Grass Type moves but Leech Seed. Regardless, the gym's regular trainers were pretty much pushovers, though I did have to heal a few times. Clay was a boss, as usual. Luckily, an uber with the wrong set isn't exactly an uber, so it could have been worse, but Excadrill was still painful, considering I didn't have much to deal with is Steel typing. Lucky for me, I have Super Fang. So all the defense in the world couldn't stop me. Badge get! Team: Spoiler:

Dark Monotype - SS
Time for an update! As soon as I finally managed to reach Kanto, my first objective was to catch a Houndour. Took about an hour for me to catch one since the little brats like to Roar. After that, it was slap on the Exp. Share and go beat the gym leaders! All eight gyms defeated easily thanks to wonderful type variety on my team but now I have to deal with Red, the utmost evil of all the trainers in gen 2. There really needs to be a better grinding spot other than round 2 of the E4 or outside Mt. Silver. Ugh. Looking forward to Lapras and Snorlax. (not) Current team: Spoiler:

I'm an hour into my challenge, so here's my first update!
-Received Bulbasaur from Professor Oak. -Lost horribly to Apple, my rival. -Delivered Oak's parcel, received Pokedex and Pokeballs. -Somehow managed to lose to a wild Pidgey. GG, Bulbasaur. -Then lost to a wild Spearow. WTF. -After grinding Bulbasaur up to level 11, I battled Apple on Route 22. I only was able to win because I used up the two potions that I had. -Got through Viridian Forest, battling bug catchers along the way. By the time I got to Pewter, Bulbasaur was level 14. -Immediately after arriving in Pewter City, I challenged Brock. Bulbasaur completely murdered his gym. -Bulbasaur evolved into Ivysaur right after I got my badge. -Continued onto Route 3, and lost miserably to Lass Janice. -_- -Caught Nidoran F on Route 3, and Zubat in Mt. Moon. Team Spoiler:

Well I think I should give an update on my progress in Firered.
-Picked up Bulbasaur from Professor Oak. -Delivered Oak's Parcel -Beat Gary a second time on route 22 -Went through Viridian Forest, and was ridiculously low on PP to the point I had to leech seed and wait patiently for them to faint while growling at them ._. -Went into Pewter sweeped Brock easily -Got the BoulderBadge -Immediantly after on the next route Bulbasaur evolved into Ivysaur -Caught a Nidoran(M) and immediantly boxed Ivysaur. Pokémon Type: Fire Challenge Type: Ultimate Game(s): Red, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, Black 2, Y Previous Progress: Yes In this Fire UMC, I've already beaten the first five games, and I'm currently on Pokémon Y. I also have a few other UMCs running, I would love it if you would add my progress in those challenges to this post, as well :) (PS. I completely missed the post where you asked for no further posts in the last thread - sorry about that!) Oh, and in my Grass UMC, I've beaten Ghetsis at the Plasma Castle, but previously I assumed that I had to go back to the league and beat Alder in order to complete the game in White. So I guess I've beaten the five first games for my Grass challenge, as well? Anyway, on to the update on the Fire challenge! Game: Y Type: Fire Badges: 1 After catching myself a Fletchling, I moved on to Santalune City, caught myself a Litleo and took on the gym leader - Fletchling made the battle a cakewalk, so not much interesting happened, really. Moving on to Lumiose City, I decided against going with Charmander, so I picked Bulbasaur and deposited the guy right away, the main reasons being that I used Mega Charizard Y in my very first playthrough of Y, and that mega evolution was banned in the previous thread - apparently it isn't in this one, is that right? Anyway, both Fennekin and Fletchling recently evolved, and I just made it to Camphrier Town - here's my team: Spoiler:

Just a small update!

Pretty big update this time!
-After catching Ekans, I headed back to Route 4 to grind, and immediately lost to a wild Spearow. -Realizing that grinding would be harder than I expected, I decided to use the switch out method and battle Apple. I managed to beat him, but I lost two Pokemon in the process. -I went back to Route 4, hoping that after gaining some experience, Ekans would now be strong enough to fight the wild Pokemon there. -I lost to a wild Rattata; Ekans was still too weak. I went to Nugget Bridge and challenged Bug Catcher Cale. -After beating him, I went AGAIN to Route 4, and finally, Ekans was able to take on the wild Pokemon there, albeit, with much difficulty. It got easier once Ekans hit level 13 and learned Bite, though. -During this time, I decided to evolve Nidorina into Nidoqueen. -After Ekans reached level 20, I headed back to Nugget Bridge and Route 25. -Zubat evolved into Golbat. -Ekans evolved into Arbok. -Got the SS Ticket and headed for Vermillion; I also battled all the trainers on Route 11. -Battled everyone in the SS Anne, and had absolutely no problems battling Apple this time. :) -I headed back to Cerulean and battled Misty, which was easy since I was over-leveled. -Immediately after beating Misty, I went back to Vermillion and challenged Lt. Surge, which was fairly easy with Nidoqueen. Team Spoiler:

I'm curious what you guys think. Should "Ultimate" remain in the title of the thread? I mean this thread is about Monotypes, not Ultimates, they are just one part of what you can do. I also had someone who mistakenly thought that it was a separate thread. So tell me what you think.

The reason it was called that in the first place was because this forum originally had individual monotype threads for each region (and I think Ultimate was its own thread too). When everything got combined into one thread, it became the "Ultimate Monotype Challenge" thread. Now, that being said, my vote is to keep it, but I wouldn't really care that much if it became the "Monotype Challenge" instead, although I like how having "Ultimate" in the title makes it moar epic. :D Now I am reminded that I still have yet to finish the postgame of my water mono on Black 2...erhem. |
An update on my firered challenge.
-Trained Nidoran(M) to level 18 outside Mt. Moon. Evolved into Nidorino -Went through Mt. Moon defeating the helpless lost people inside. -Found a Moon Stone, evolved Nidorino into Nidoking. -Defeated Team Rocket and taught Miguel a lesson in sharing. -Claimed the Helix Fossil -Went to Cerulean City -At this point as I was level 24, I thought I could handle the gym. After being decimated by Starmie I realised this wasn't going to be the case. -After thrashing/loading him with a Persim berry/scoring a critical hit. I managed to defeat Misty after four losses, scoring myself the Cascadabadge. I hate you Starmie, so, so, SO much. Team Spoiler:

Time for an update!
-Got through Rock Tunnel, but with difficulty; Arbok fainted twice. -Battled Apple in Pokemon Tower; his team has become really difficult for me to beat. I lost Nidoqueen during the battle. -While I was there, I challenged the rest of the trainers in Pokemon Tower, so I wouldn't have to do it later. -Golbat attempted to evolve twice, but the game stopped it. >.<;;; -Beat all of the trainers on Route 12. -Ivysaur evolved into Venusaur while in Celadon gym. -Beat Erika using Golbat; she gave me some problems with paralysis, but otherwise, it was a pretty easy win. -Beat everyone in Team Rocket's hideout, and obtained the Silph Scope. -Defeated the ghost of Marowak and Team Rocket at Pokemon Tower; obtained the PokeFlute. -Caught Gastly. Ticket. -Helped the Cerulean police force deal with the Rocket who was hiding very well in plain sight. -Raced down to Vermillion City, entered Diglett Tunnel, caught a Diglett. -Trained Diglett from level 21 to 31, the same level as Nidoking. -Listened intently to the Pokemon Chairman wax poetic about Rapidash, earning the Bike Voucher. -Entered the S.S. Anne, was apparently late to the party :( -Met my Rival, being in the 30s defeated him effortlessly. -Got HM01 -Challenged Lt. Surge and destroyed his entire gym, the battle was quite shocking. Time for an update!
-After catching Gastly, I battled Biker Ricardo and Biker Jaren repeatedly until it reached level 34. -Obviously, Gastly evolved into Haunter. -At level 35, I evolved Haunter into Gengar. I would have done it sooner, but I had to wait until after I had batteries for my GBAs. XD -Gave Golbat a freaking Everstone so it would stop attempting to evolve and then laughing in my face when the game refused to let it. -Battled all the bikers on cycling road, and made it to Fuchsia. -Left Fuchsia and continued up through the routes leading back to Lavender. -Challenged the Fighting Dojo. -Beat Team Rocket and Apple in Silph Co. I lost Golbat to Apple's Gyarados, but other than that, everything went fine. -Trained my Pokemon against various trainers to get them ready for Koga and Sabrina. -Challenged Koga's gym. I had a bit of trouble against the trainers in there; I had forgotten that most of them carry psychic types and not poison types. >.< However, Koga himself was a piece of cake with Gengar. -Caught Tentacool immediately after beating Koga. -Groaned as I realized just how long it would take to get Tentacool up to everyone else's level.... New update on FireRed
-Went through Diglett Tunnel, obtained Flash -Cleared Route 9 and Rock Tunnel with no difficulties, hit Lavender Town. -Cleared northern part of route 12, and cleared Route 8, hit Celadon City. -Took a break to waste all my money in the game corner till I got Shadow Ball. Hopefully this comes in useful. -Challenged Celadon Gym, everyone was easily beaten again due to high levels, the only problem being Erika and her status moves. Hard to be-leaf it went that easy huh? Team Spoiler:

-I began backtracking through the game, rematching various trainers in order to train Tentacool.
-Tentacool evolved into Tentacruel. -After beating Bird Keepers Wilton, Ramiro, and Jacob over and over, Tentacruel finally reached level 44, and I was able to take on Sabrina, the gym leader who I was fearing the most. -After running into the first trainer in Sabrina's gym, who was rocking a Slowbro that Tentacruel could barely dent, I decided to go through the gym without battling any of the trainers. It took me FOREVER to finally go through the right portals. -After much screaming and cursing, I, at long last, reached Sabrina's room. I looked into my bag and realized that I had absolutely no potions on me. Oh God, no... -I was able to kill her Kadabra in two hits, but I had trouble with her Mr. Mime, who set up with Calm Mind and then Baton Passed to Alakazam. -By this point, I thought for sure it was the end, but... Alakazam did nothing but spam Future Sight, so most of the time, it didn't even attack me. Tentacruel was able to take the first Future Sight hit, but lost to the second one; I sent out Golbat to take out a now severely weakened Alakazam and Mr. Mime, with no issues whatsoever. -When Sabrina was about to use Venomoth, I switched in Gengar and killed it easily with a Psychic, and won the battle. -Everything went better than expected. Now for my team... Lilly surprised me. I never used delcatty before but she was sure awesome and really useful team member. She has a nice movepool that helped me out a lot in the end. Zara was a monster. She had an amazing ability and she was able to hit quick and hard - really cool team member aswell. Lina was ok - although better movepool wouldn't hurt, Marty and Tai were awesome as always and Exploud was my life saver against champion because he had Earthquake. Pokémon Type: Water Challenge Type: Ultimate Game(s): Not sure, not sure, Emerald, Platinum, Black 2, Y Previous Progress: No (not in this particular challenge, at least, but I have a few other ongoing challenges, and would love to have my progress in those added to the thread) With my Fire monotype going on its final chapter, and my Grass monotype only needing its final chapter, it seemed only fitting that I'd start a Water UMC. I think I'll be going with Emerald first, posting update later. |
-Headed back to Pallet Town and started off for Cinnabar.
-Had some difficulty with one of the trainers on Route 21; I lost Golbat to a Cloyster. -Got through Pokemon Mansion and found the Secret Key. -Immediately went back to Fuchsia so I can beat up on those Bird Keepers again. XD -After grinding everyone up to level 48, I went back to Cinnabar to challenge the gym. -Even though the trainers in Blaine's gym are optional, I decided to battle all of them anyway for the experience. I honestly had more problems with them than with Blaine, and that was due to the limited PP in rock type moves. -I used Tentacruel in the battle against Blaine himself. She was able to OHKO almost everything with Surf... On his Arcanine, however, there was still a little bit of HP left. I was scared for a moment that it would set up Sunny Day and make it difficult for me to hit him again after he healed, but Arcanine actually used Take Down and killed itself with recoil damage. GG. -After I got my badge, I left Blaine's gym and was immediately greeted by Bill, who took me away to the Sevii Islands... Team Spoiler:

It's been a while, but I got around to doing more of my challenge, so here's the next update:
8th Update, Rock Challenge on Platinum: -after getting my gambling needs out of my system, I entered the Veilstone Galactic building with Looker's help -fought my way through a bunch of grunts -defeated Cyrus (who the hell gives a Master Ball to someone when they lose?) -beat down Saturn and freed the lake trio -evolved Rhydon into Rhyperior -headed off to Mt.Coronet for the showdown with Team Galactic (thank you random grunt for telling me I have to use the Oreburgh entrance). Discovered that there was a whole room of grunts to battle that I never noticed before, even though I've been through this part of the game 3 times before. -climbed all the way to the Spear Pillar. Whupped Jupiter and Mars with my rival -Giratina appeared. I jumped into the Distortion World to chase after Cyrus. I've always thought that the Distortion World was one of the cooler places in Pokemon. -caught up to Cyrus and battled him one last time. His Gyarados was annoying. Then I captured Giratina and used it's power to take over the world, mwahahahaha! All shall kneel before the Devourlord! -after putting Cyrus's plans to an end, I caught Giratina (just Master Balled that one) -left the Distortion World, checked in with Rowan -made my way to Sunnyshore City, got Volkner to get his ass back in the Gym -took on the gym. It was easy, since 3 of my Rock types are part Ground. Spam Earthquake and done. Though Volkner put up a bit of a better fight than I expected. And you think the whole gym would've come down with all the Earthquakes I used.... -got the HM for Waterfall from Jasmine. I'll give you slightly more detailed accounts of the battles in the League. Also, I don't know how to provide you with pretty pictures of my Hall of Fame entry (or if I even can), so yeah. |
Been a bit but here's a new FireRed update.
-Entered and wiped out the Rocket Hideout -Got the Silph Scope -Forgot about my rival in Pokemon Tower so curb stomped his team easily. -Caught Cubone in Pokemon Tower, spent 20 minutes and was lucky as I found a Thick Club on the fifth Cubone I caught. -Had a horrible time as I trained Cubone from 15 - 43 -Decided to take on a part time Ghostbuster Job as I dealt with exorcisms, gangs and pacifiying very angry spirits. Cleared the Pokemon Tower in the end and saved Mr. Fuji. -Headed back to Celadon, entered the secret house and got Fly. -Went through Cycling Road and arrived at Fuchsia. -Went straight to the Safari Zone and caught my final member Rhyhorn. Not starting any new ones, just continuing my 3 current ones, I'm also going to go through all my completed gen V ultimates with Y and slowly finish them all. :)

Forum User Name: Mesmerella Pokémon Type: Bug Challenge Type: Single Game: Black Previous Progress: No Now that that's out of the way... Onto my update! -After Bill and Celio started working, I headed up Kindle Road to battle all the trainers. I didn't go to Mt. Ember, however, because I didn't have the HMs necessary to scale it. (Or the supplies to catch Moltres...) -Went to Two Island and talked to Lostelle's dad. I didn't bother taking Venusaur to the “ultimate move” lady because those moves are stupid. -Arrived at Three Island and beat all of the Biker Goons. -Battled everyone on Bond Bridge and defeated the scary Hypno in Berry Forest. Gave the Meteorite to Lostelle's dad. -Returned to One Island and trained everyone up to Giovanni's level on Kindle Road. -Left the Sevii Islands and went back to Cinnabar with Bill. I healed in Pallet Town before making my way to Viridian to get my last gym badge. -Challenged Viridian City's gym. I was somewhat worried about this one, since my team is weak to ground, but to be honest, I had more difficulty with the Cooltrainers in there than Giovanni himself, who was swept easily by Tentacruel. -Giovanni disbanded Team Rocket, and I continued on my merry way, preparing for the climax of my journey... Ultimate Fighting Monotype Challenge: Black White Version
Complete So, I finished this old Monotype. I believe I started this around this time last year. I think I need to work on finishing these faster. I think only one of my completed monotypes was fast and that was my Fairy mono that I had to restart. Anyway, most of the E4 was easy enough, but I would up having to spam my Scrafty for half of it. N wasn't a problem until he threw out Archeops, who was capable of sweeping everyone on my damn team. So when I fought him for the second time, which doesn't entirely make sense, I decided to spam Bulk Up with my Throh, proving its usefulness. Ghetsis however, was pretty hard actually. I managed to beat him on the first try but it was a struggle. So now I only have to worry about one BW1 challenge, yay! Spoiler:

Pokemon Type: Fire
Challenge Type: Single Game: White 2 Previous Progress:NO |
I know that in my last update I promised to have worked on my Flying challenges that I had already started, but unfortunately I've been away from home quite a bit the past few weeks (and away from my cartridge games), so I've only been able to do challenges on my phone's emulator. As such, I've managed to start and make quite a bit of progress on another of my started ultimates, Electric! So, here's a rather large update of my Electric Hoenn run, on Emerald.
I chose Mudkip so I could deal with Roxanne easily and have an HM slave later in the game. I then moved as fast as I could to get to the first gym, where I defeated Roxanne and earned my first badge. I sailed to Dewford Town, and after finding Steven I discovered that I could skip the gym and I sailed straight to Slateport. North of Slateport, I caught my first team member, Electrike, and spent quite a while training it (I decided not to deal with Plusle/Minun). I then defeated Team Aqua (I think? I always forget which team is in Emerald..) then went ahead and traveled north up to Mauville. There, I defeated Watson, which allowed me to travel north, around the desert, through Fallarbor Town, and eventually (after dealing with Team Magma this time, I believe) to Lavaridge Town. By this point my now-Manectric was starting to be pretty overleveled, so Flannery was of no difficulty. After getting my third badge, it was time to travel back to Dewford and deal with Brawly. With the fourth badge, I was allowed to take on Norman, who wasn't too big of a challenge. Then I was able to cross the river to eastern Hoenn and travel north the Fortree City, where I zapped Winona's poor flying types. I then made my way along the long path to Lilycove, and backtracked a little to Mt. Pyre to progress with the evil team storyline. Right now, I've saved right before taking on my rival in Lilycove. (Do note that I plan on catching my second and final team member soon!) Team http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/icon/310.png Manectric / Lv. 48 / Spark, Bite, Strength, Thunder Quote:

(Forget which came first) -beat wallace for final gym badge. -reached victory road. -grinded like crazy. -beat wally after grinding even more. -grinded against sydney for a pretty long wile. -after getting high enough levels and a good amount of healing stuffs i started my offical challenge at the e4. -basically swept Sydney, but i had trouble with phoebe, those ghost types where a pain. -basically swept glacia but had trouble again with drake. He took alot of my resources too. -steven was a huge challenge, it didn't get very hard untill metagross started spamming psychic. Eventualy clucklens took it out with blaze kick. Then came claydol, shroommm used leetch seed and acted like a brick wall untill it fainted and then took out cradily even though he was way underleveled. -then steven took me to the hall of fame ^.^ i took this picture with my 2ds. This monotype was a pretty big challenge for me. Even though i was warned, i wasn't prepared for the sheer amount of grinding that was involved in preparing for the e4. Also i have a new found hatred for golbat... i am glad its done and il start another monotype soon. |
