Least favourite 4th gen Pokemon?
So here they are, in my opinion:
#1: http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/486.gif regigigas I refuse to capitalize regigigas because I hate it to death. I don't think this atrocity can be called a Pokemon. Seriously, what was GameFreak smoking when they decided to create this thing? I mean, COME ON. 1. Horrible ability: Slow Start makes you weak and slow for 5 turns, which I guess CAN be stalled in-game, but 5 turns is enormous in competitive battling, especially when regigigas doesn't have access to Protect or Rest. 2. Horrible name: regigigas? Really? And this is why most people call it "Regigigigigigigigigigigigigigigas". 3. Horrible design: what is it supposed to be? regigigas looks like a face with weird ears and a weird nose. And what's up with those green feet? 4. Extremely painful to catch: To get it, you will need to catch all 3 Regis from Emerald, then transfer them to Platinum and you can get regigigas. Sounds easy, right? Well, not really. a) All 3 Regis have a catch rate of 3, so you'll need a lot of PokeBalls to get them, and possibly some soft resets because they just won't let themselves get catched. b) You need to trade them to Platinum, which means you need 2 DS's. c) regigigas is at level 1, which means you'll need to use a HM slave or a Pokemon with False Swipe. d) regigigas still has a catch rate of 3, so you'll need once again to throw a lot of Dusk Balls, PokeBalls or whatever. So yeah, regigigas is my absolute least favorite Pokemon of Gen 4. #2: http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/493.gif Arceus I dislike Arceus strongly. The idea behind it is absolutely lame, do we really need a creator? Oh yeah, there was Mew before, but then GameFreak decided we would need a Pokemon that looks like a deer stuck in a hula hoop to replace it. Not to mention Arceus is Uber, overrated, overpowered (I hate that Extreme Killer set so much I think Arceus-Normal should be banned even from Ubers), and it's just lame in general. #3: http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/463.gif Lickilicky Really? Seriously? Look at its tongue. It looks SMALLER than Lickitung's, so when you see this thing for the first time, you'll be tricked into thinking it's Lickitung's pre-evo. Now, Lickilicky is decent competitively, but in-game it's just horrible. Now, which are your least favourite Pokemon and why? |
My least favorite 4th gen Pokemon are:
Pachirisu -I don't know why but when I saw it I immediately disliked it. Spiritomb -Its a spirit of ugliness. -Tedious to get ahold of. I thought there would be more but I just browsed through the Sinnoh Pokedex and these are the only ones I truly dislike. |
I hate Purrugly. It's a bulky Pokemon that every trainer has early on and I hate dealing with it.
|
Second the above; I really don't like Purugly. xD" It looks pretty mean and vicious design-wise, which I'm not very fond of, and its battling skills aren't great either. It could be taken out pretty easily. Aside from that, I'm also not such a huge fan of Kricketune. It does have an interesting cry, but... to me, the Pokémon looks pretty hideous.
|
http://www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon/465.png
Tangrowth. Seriously. What the heck is that? Tangela was weird enough, though somewhat cute, but it's evolution is just plan ugly and stupid looking. http://www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon/463.png http://www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon/464.png http://www.serebii.net/xy/pokemon/467.png These three also make my list. They're all just straight up strange. |
Bibarel or Burmy. Bibarel's (and also Bidoof's) design puts me off, and Burmy's whole... idea is too strange and boring imo. Mothim is cute though, I guess it's mostly Wormadam I don't like.
And I never quite liked Arceus either - the idea of a god pokémon who created everything... and can be caught in a pokéball? Sure. |
Magmortar, Lickilicky, Tangrowth, Electivire, Rhyperior, Probopass. 95% of the time I forget these guys exist because they're just so.. forgettable and out of place to me.
Oh, and Wormadam. Why does such a thing need to exist when we have the beauty that is Mothim. :( |
I actually like a lot of the new evolutions they introduced this gen, but one Pokémon I just don't like is Vespiquen. Its design is ugly, and it's just forgettable.
That and the fact that in my first attempt at a Wedlocke I was doing a year ago, after f***ing me over so hard, my encounter in the Lostlorn Forest, which has nothing but awesome Pokémon, EXCEPT Combee, guess what it was. I refused to use Combee or Vespiquen ever since. Remind me to leave a footnote about them in my will when I die of old age or something. |
I don't want to criticize Gen 4 too much, but there were quite a few mons that I just didn't like.
Exhibit A: Arceus Every 12 year old's favorite Pokemon who started beyond Gen 3 (sorry, I HAD to). Too much design going on there. Its 120-120-120-120-120-120 base stats make it near unbeatable without Ubers. We're talking "Gen 1 Amnesia Mewtwo" unbeatable. I understand the "deity" figure that Arceus attempts to be, but it's just plain overdone. There should have been a Pokemon that could be any type or form it wants, taking a cue from Deoxys. A clear theme, pretty cool backstory, but overdesigned even for a "god". Exhibit B: Gliscor As one who didn't like Gligar, this evolution did not endear me to the Gligar line at all. I may be biased because I hate seeing it in battle (Fantastic OU mon, one of the best walls in the game). However, this one had too much design. I may be insulting a lot of people, because Gliscor has a considerable fanbase. Not a fan though! Exhibit C: Tangrowth First off: Why? Why? WHY?!? This is a Pocket Monster alright, a flat out abomination. Big, fat, ugly, and neglected just as Tangela was before. Game Freak did not need to make all of these rushed evos, especially not at the time. This Gen (6) really could have used more Pokemon, and they could have put one of those ugly evos (redesigned of course) in this Gen. In fact, I can't think of one Gen 4 mon that's too boring of a design. Game Freak had a different approach to designing Pokemon in DPPt, and one that I overall disliked. However, I hope people reading don't think I didn't like Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, because I put a big amount of time into those games. |
I dislike pachirisu because it is anothe pikachu ripoff
|
I dislike Vespiquen, Burmy, Wormadam, Bibarel (Bidoof is adorable imo), Glameow and Purugly.
The worst is actually Purugly. |
I think I'd have to go with Mesprit. It was super annoying to catch, more than other roaming legendaries because it didn't feel worth it once I had caught it. Also of the lake trio it's the weirdest looking with it's weird head.. tentacles? Sure Lucario has them too but they actually work for him.
I used to hate Lopunny and Bibarrel but my opinion towards them has softened a lot, not quite sure why. |
I never liked Arceus. I always found it ugly and overrated, and it shouldn't have been made.
I also find Chingling unneeded. Why did Chimecho need a baby? Why not an evolution? If Mega Evolutions count, then Mega Garchomp as well. I love Garchomp, but it didn't need a Mega Evolution at all. Flygon needed it more. On a side note, I actually love Tangrowth. |
Quote:
http://www.pkparaiso.com/imagenes/xy/sprites/animados/vespiquen.gif I agree with several above poster about pokemon such as Tangrowth, Lickilicky, Magmortar, Probonoze, Magnezone, and other bulky and poorly designed additions to previous pokemon lines. Also, not a fan of spiritomb either. As a generation, I find these designs to be the weakest overall. In addition to having WAY too many Legendaries. 14/107 (13%!!) Though, I love the starters, Luxray-line, Budew-line, Lopunny-Line, Gastrodon-Line, Cherrim-Line, Froslass-line, Garchomp-line, and Vespiquen-line. Lastly, in defense of Purugly...I think a fat house cat that has "evolved" to grow a tail that it can use as a girdle/corset is just hilarious and quickly dismissed as, "fat and ugly", when that was, in-part what GF was going for to contrast the pretty-cuddly-kitty archetype. The design is clever, and I find it ugly-cute, like a bulldog/shar pei. http://www.pkparaiso.com/imagenes/xy/sprites/animados/purugly.gif |
Vespiquen has got to be one of my favourite Pokemon concept-wise. I particularly love its unique moves as well; that definitely adds to the appeal of the Pokemon for me.
Anyway onto the actual topic. I actually quite dislike a lot of Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. Not because they were like many people think "uncreative", but because many of them were really ugly. I really dislike Magmortar, Lickilicky, Propobass, Arceus, Carnivine, Dusknoir and Porygon-Z, mainly for aesthetic reasons. |
-Piplup/Prinplup/Empoleon
-Bidoof/Bibarel -Kricketot/Kricketune -Shieldon/Bastiodon -Burmy/Mothim/Wormadam -Pachirisu -Cherubi/Cherrim -Lopunny -Chingling -Mime Jr. -Happiny -Munchlax -Carnivine -Rhyperior -Uxie/Mesprit/Azelf -Regigigas -Phione/Manaphy -Shaymin -Arceus I actually don't mind Purugly. |
Ah, poor Kricketune and Purugly... I already know a lot of people don't like them. (Is the Lopunny dislike because of what the fandom has done to it, though? Because I understand that.)
Anyway, while a lot of the evolutions for older Pokemon were rather nice (Yanmega, Gallade, Froslass, Dusknoir, etc etc.) I don't like the direction they went with Magmortar and Probopass is just... strange. Very strange. Bibarel and Lickilicky are just silly looking to the point of being rather charming. Rhyperior looks strange, but I don't particularly dislike it. And... that's about all I can think of off the top of my head. |
Burmy and Wormadam. So hard to find and use the forme you want, and really underwhelming. Even in competitive, they're all lacking.
|
I strongly dislike Bronzon and Bronzong, their overall appearance, and their annoying moveset when met on wild.
|
Burmy line for me. While I do like the concept, they are very weak in stats and it's so hard to get specific forms of Wormadam, especially Trash Cloak.
Battle-wise, Bronzor line. Because they are very annoying when you fight them in the wild due to the moveset they have when you encounter them. I hate fighting them just as much as Wobbuffet, Ferrothorn or even Milotic. |
I would like Bronzor/Bronzong more if Heatproof actually gave immunity to Fire. That would make it so much more annoying in competitive, but the ability would make more sense to me.
|
I really dislike Rhyperior. Rhydon was so cool looking, but Rhyperior just looks stupid in comparison. I'm okay with most of the other evolutions, but Rhyperior just really strikes me as... Unneeded.
|
Probopass is easily my least favorite Sinnoh Pokemon. I didn't like its prevolution, I don't like its typing, I don't like its hat and I definitely don't like its silly moustache. I think the last 3 letters in its name about sum up how I feel about Probopass.
|
I really dislike porygon Z as its design ruinned porygon for me.
|
I agree Arceus is lame. The one got is lvl 100 and weaker in atk, def, speed, and less health to a Rayquaza I got from emerald. If he's suppose to be a god pokemon he wouldn't be weaker than any pokemon.
|
Azelf <3
I hate the Gastrodon line; all of them look stupid, and are really just bad Pokemon in general. |
Sinnoh had loads of awesome evolutions for older pokes (weavile, magnezone, electivire) but also some horrible ones, like Lickilily. I also disliked Chingling. I mean, they could've made a baby version of kangaskhan, scyther, tauros, heracross or pinsir, but no. It's all about the freaking chimecho.
|
I never cared for the Infernape line whatsoever. I find them horrendously overrated and their design looks kinda dumb IMO. I'll always prefer Torterra.
Same deal with Starraptor. Overrated af and everyone I know uses him. I like Starly, but his final form is pretty ugly. I always end up using Noctowl or Swellow instead. |
Ehh, to be honest, I never really liked Arceus too much. I just don't think the concept of a God Pokemon really sits well with the franchise, and if it were to come sooner or later, I'd much rather they didn't introduce it till a later generation. I understand that Sinnoh was supposed to be linked with the ancient times of the Pokemon world, and they'd want to throw in a lot of lore and myths, but it just feels waaaay too early to throw in an actual God Pokemon. Especially considering how none of the future legendary backstories will ever really match up to Arceus'. I understand if they were running low on ideas, but it just seems to fit in a whole lot better with the last generation, if there should ever be one like that; at least it shouldn't be generatoin four :p
I reckon they might've tried to appease to the creationist crowd as well, since Pokemon had received a lot of backlash from religious people due to apparently "brain-washing" children into believing in the theory of evolution over the creation myth. So perhaps it was to give them less of a reason to complain, but ehhh, seems kinda far-fetched. |
I don't really like Infernape, Bastiodon and Drapion. Those three in particular. I'm not a fan of Garchomp either, my least favourite pseudo legendary. Purugly and Lopunny are two others I'm not crazy about. Bibarel and Lickilicky also come to mind. Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf are probably my least favourite legendary trio too.
My feelings about them have mostly mellowed over time though. For me 4th gen is mainly full of pokemon that had to grow on me, there were very few instants. (Piplup, Chatot & Roserade were the only three I took an instant liking to) |
Uhuh, I can't really explain WHY I like these pokémons in particular but the cases what I can propose are : *The beauty *w* *The attacks *b* *The mystery that emanates of them *O* So, enough talking, this is my ranking : 1°) Togekiss, Milotic and Shaymin are nominated for the beauty :$ 2°) Gengar and Electivire 3°) All the pokemons obviously because they constitute a mystery, it was a french's (wholesale, ME :^p) trap muahahaha. |
When 4th gen came out, I really disliked most of the new Pokemon introduced. I hated all the starters and their evos, I thought the legendaries looked over designed and ugly / boring. Most of all I hated the new evos given to previous pokemon - Rhyperior being my most hated of all. However as time goes on I came to accept them a lot more. D/P as games, were really enjoyable, so it was slightly easier to get used to the new Pokemon.
I'd say my most hated, design-wise are still: Rhyperior, Gastrodon and Arceus. |
I can't say that all of the 4th Generation Pokemon are bad, but there quite a few bad eggs in the bunch. My least favorite 4th Generation Pokemon just has to be Burmy and it's evolution line. To start it all off, it's just a very gimmicky Pokemon. Arceus is also like this, with all of those plates, but this is about Burmy! There are too many forms to it, and they are all just very pointless. All of the forms of Burmy are down-right ugly, my least favorite being Trash Cloak. I guess why it's called the Trash Cloak. Burmy is very weak, which is fine since it's not fully evolved yet. But when it evolves, it's still not very good, both of its evolutions. Wormadam still has that horrible form thing, but you can't change it like you could with Burmy. It's still very weak, like Burmy. What's there to say about it? It's just a very bad Pokemon. Mothim is at least a little better. It's still weak like the rest, but it looks more visually appealing.
The Burmy line should have never been created, it's just a waste of space, like some of the other Pokemon. Burmy however, is by far my least favorite 4th Generation Pokemon. I even prefer other un-creative Pokemon over it, like Voltorb. |
Lickylicky - Wut? Let's make a bigger pokemon that it's preevolution with shorter tongue and a wi-fi sign on it's chest O.o Best design ever made D:
Bastiodon - Same thing - Weird design :o Rotom and it's form - Same reason. |
I was never really that high on the designs of the creation trio and Arceus. Let's be honest, they're really weird, design wise. But I HATED things like Kricketot/Kricketune. They were just bad all-around, even for your generic early stage bug type. And their cry was especially annoying.
|
Since 4th Gen is my least favorite, there is plenty of Pokemon to chose from.
A new Pokemon i really disliked was Finneon/Lumineon line. Just another generic fish, less than average stats and nothing special at all about it. As for a new evolution i really dislike, hands down Licky-Licky. |
Lickilicky, He is so stupid lol I have no words for it.
|
Rhypherior and Lickylicky i didn't like. The designs never appealed to me at all and i never used them, ever.
|
Aww, I hate seeing Arceus hate. I agree it's steel variant is a b♥♥♥♥ online, but it's lore is actually kind of fascinating. :P When I used the Azure Flute and walked up those stairs, I was just so excited to see what would happen next.
As for my least favorite 4th Gen. Pokémon...it's Gastrodon. Shellos was kinda cute...but Gastrodon was unnecessary and is probably the ugliest Pokémon to me. It's also really bad at battle in general. |
I honestly found most of 4th gen to be enjoyable, personally. However, the Wormadam evolution set and Arceus struck me as...unneeded?
Wormadam is a cool concept, but the designs were meh in my opinion. Not something I would want on my team in any case. Arceus is too hyped, and honestly, it's obnoxious looking. It's overly designed and isn't enjoyable to look at. Fourth gen had other problem pokemon as well, but these are the ones that left the worst impressions on me. |
Because I didn't say it last time, Garchomp. Looks like something specifically designed to appeal to kids. Has a perpetually depressed/stoned look on his face. Was on everyone's team back in the day, and it didn't help that Platinum let you catch him as early as after the 2nd badge. Just a generally unoriginal choice for your team IMO.
|
Freakin' Lickilicky. That name is just terrible and I don't know what they could have been thinking in letting that pass. Did they think that was okay? That when players ask friends if they could trade them a Lickilicky that it would be appropriate? WHY?!
|
LikiLiki I dislike this Pokemon because of its look in general, although I do not like Arceus for being INCREDIBLY weak LikiLiki took it way to far. I can stand Regigias and I like The other three Regis too.(Regice, Regirock, and Registeel.) :D
|
Quote:
Another Pokemon I don't like is Phione. What is the point of it? It's just a weaker Manaphy that's even harder to obtain, and it just plain sucks both in-game and online. |
Lickilicky. Piling on the hate of the giant tongue fat man, Lickilicky's just plain derpy. Sure, its stats are actually pretty okay for its appearance, but it just looks and feels stupid to use.
Did we really need Lopunny? Sure it looks okay and all, but the fandom's gushing all about it in the wrong way. Did we really need a Pokemon that's basically become Pokemon's version of sex appeal? Or did Gardevoir need a replacement :I |
Gastrodon and Lickilicky
The rest of the Pokemon i enjoyed quite a lot :) |
4th gen is by far my fav gen, but i hate a LOT of gen 4 pokemon, let's begin:
Bidoof. Nuff said. Chingling, completely and utterly useless and outclassed even in-game. Probopass, just.... what is WRONG with this thing? Bronzor, while this thing seems fairly well excepted by the community as a whole, I personally hate it. Arceus, for the many, many reasons stated above. Pachirisu, Weak stats, unoriginal design, lackluster movepool, I especially hate this one. P.S. I actually like lickilicky for the simple fact of how hilarious and derpy it looks, show the fat-tounged blob some love, guys. :) |
Adding to the Lickilicky hate. That thing is truly awful, and I regret not putting one on my derp team in Black 2.
I'm also biased against the Chimchar line, because monkeys creep me out. |
Magmortar.
I hated it because I had been expecting it since Gen 2 when Magmar was my favorite pokemon to use and then when it came out I was just disappointed in both design and ability. |
I actually like Lickilicky, it's pretty cute imo. xD;;
But I'm not a big fan of the designs of Bibarel and Wormadam. Kricketune freaks me out and Tangrowth is just creepy for some reason. >_< |
Chimchar, Monferno, and Infernape.
Their designs are just plain horrible to me, I ink their cries annoying, their Typing is comprised of my two least favourite Types, what they're based off I think are just ugh, their Abilities are somewhat annoying, and just everything possible went wrong with them. I despise them. Incidentally, they're also my least favourite Pokémon overall. Quote:
|
Least favorite? Tangrowth and Lickilicky come to mind. Too much design on already over-the-top designs (sorry Tangela and Lickitung). Both of these evolutions attempted to make these Pokemon lines good for competitive, but failed overall.
The reason I hate Gliscor so much is how much of a hassle it is to take out. Poison Heal + Toxic Heal + Stat Boosters = I want to ragequit. I must say though, there were quite a few Gen 4 Pokemon that I disliked. |
I've never been fond of Buizel/Floatzel. Lickilicky is weird, yes, but...eh. I kind of like it. n_n Okay. I can't lie, it's pretty disturbing.
Tangrowth's design is weird, though. It's like..literally overgrown. |
I have quite a lot of Pokemon I didn't like from Sinnoh, actually. Purugly looks hideous and ferocious, and its overly round face looks unsettling. Rhyperior disappointed me, because if I liked the concept a bit more, I would've actually caught a Ryhorn. Unfortunately, its final stage turned out to be all over the place design-wise, as well as an odd color scheme. Probopass looks like a scratched idea for a toy, especially with the bushy, odd-looking mustache.
|
LEAST FAVE #D/P/PT
1. BURMY 2. Lickilicky 3. Purugly |
Am I the only one to think that Skuntank is horrible? Frickin galactic grunts.. >.<
|
Gastrodon. It's also my least favorite Pokemon of all time. Why? Because of one damn time where I was walking through some grass. Not sure what I was doing. I believe I was just passing through, trying to progress to the next area. Then they showed up.
One after the other, that horrible annoying splort cry made me want to impale somebody. And the way it squirmed around slimily and unpleasantly... it did not endear me to this Pokemon at all. If it weren't for that cry, I probably wouldn't dislike it as much. But it's the unpleasant appearance combined with the cry that left Gastrodon with a special place in my anti-heart. |
Shieldon/Bastiodon: I feel they are just weird and lame designs.
Burmy/Wormadam: Just really strange... what is Wormadam even suppose to be? I like Mothim though. Pachirisu: We got Minun/Plusle the generation before, why do we need this Pikachu wannabe? At least Emolga was more original. Leafeon/Glaceon: Have to be the worst Eevee evolutions to date, they suck both competitively and in-game. And they just aren't cool, my order for eevee evolution's is Jolteon>Espeon>Umbreon>Vaporeon>Sylveon>Flareon>>>>>>>>>Glaceon=Leafeon. Probopass: Looks like a train, or a giant scrubber. And all legendaries except for Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and Darkrai. |
I think the only one I didn't like was Regigigas. It required Regice, Regirock and Registeel to get it, and even then it was a failure for it's slow start ability.

Surprisingly, I don't dislike a lot of Gen 4 Pokemon. One that's been mentioned a lot is Wormadam, which I do think is pretty ugly, haha. Also, Purugly and Lickilicky. I also dislike Lopunny a lot.
|
Awww, but Lopunny is gorgeous! D:
|
Blissey, that thing was so annoying in gen 4 and still is to some extent nowadays too.
|
With 4th gen being my first/fave gen, I hate doing this. But okay:
Purugly, Skunktank, Toxicroak. Who didn't like the 3 Galactic admin pokemon? I mean, they were hard to beat, they looked cool (except Purugly) but they were too dang strong!! Bronzong/Bronzor. They are so hard to fight with the only weakness being fire (on my first playthrough I had no fire), they confuse you and wall you! |
For some reason, I just don't like Magmortar. I think Magmortar is just uglier than the other Magby evolutions.
|
My top 3 would easily be Electivire, Ambipom and Chimchar.
Out of all the new evolutions to previous gens, I found Electivire's to be the worst in terms of design, I don't really know why I just find it really unappealing while all the other ones have either grown on me or don't bother me :) With Ambipom and Chimchar, I've just never really overly liked monkeys so they were kinda a given, in addition to me really just not liking their designs (I don't mind Infernape as much though). Add to that the crazy Chimchar that Ash had in the anime and you can understand why I've never felt the appeal behind it. As negative as this post sounds, I actually do really like a lot of the 4th Gen pokes lol :) |
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/7/71/Spr_5b_476.png
This guy I could never really understand. I cant say I hate him, I just really wish his design was better XD also Uxie, Azelf and Mesprit could have been better.. |
Gen 4 also was my least favourite gen in terms of Pokémon designs. Anywho, these are the Pokémon I flat out don't like (it's hard choosing a least favourite):
The Bidoof line, Kricketot line (one thing I like about Kricketune is its cry), Budew (Roserade is cool though), the whole Burmy line, Combee (I like Vespiquen though), Pachirisu, Cherubi line, Ambipom (Aipom was cute), Chingling, Happiny, Lucario (I just find its design so awkward, I don't mind Riolu), Finneon line, Rhyperior, Lickilicky, Tangrowth, Electivire, Magmortar, Togekiss and Phione. I happen to like Probopass, Skuntank, Garchomp, Gliscor (favourite Gen 4 Poke), Spiritomb and Gastrodon. @Ingosmex- Blissey is a Gen 2 Pokémon. |
hmmm I have three least favorites; they are Shaymin, Gallade and Lopunny. If I had to chose one out of those three I would have to pick Shaymin because it is an annoying little Pokemon (especially in the movie). I just dont see why and how Shaymin is considered to be a legendary; it looks too innocent and soft.
:t354:TG |
the evolution of tangela i cant even remember his name but its kind of good coz nobody uses tangela
|
Burmy Bibarel Spirtomb Floatzel Bronzong Purugly and and and Kricketune hes a little ugly failure he cant attack and the rest just look so stupid and aren't even needed in the game idk about arceus I kinda think they never should of made it stating its the most powerful hopefully one day they'll come up with pokemon more powerful than him
|
Purugly and Lickilily. Their designs are absolutely terrible. Also Probopass. What was up with that thing?
|
Poor Purugly.
I am harsh on many of the pokemon of this generation, unlike any other. Lickilicky, Tangrowth, Probopass, Magnezone, The lake Trio, Magmortar, among others are just bulky overworked designs that lack charm. But I always hear Purugly is ugly or fat as a reason why it is a "bad" design when a thread like this pops up. The whole idea is that this is an overweight pampered cat that uses it's tail as a girdle/corset, which is just hilarious. And the name implies that the intention was to have an ugly cat of sorts. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/072/b/9/x_y_purugly_cursor_by_mid0456-d7a0w0p.gif Just look at her pretentious face, it's adorable. Spoiler:
|
I kinda like all fourth gen pookemon, because that is my favorite gen and the pokemon look cool. My least favorite out of all of them is bronzor because the only purpose it serves it to annoy you. Brozong is like another golbat with confuse ray. If you don't have a fire type then Bronzong is going to annoy the crap out of you and waste your time.
|
No I dont not like it for it being fat and ugly just i dont think we needed that and its stats arent great if it had an evolution of sorts it may be good Purugly is like average i guess
|
I hated Gallade, i like it now, but hated at first because
a) its designed to appeal to people who say "ew tranny gardevoir" which is just plain silly, its a pokemon, not a person, and even so, why should it matter, Gardevoir is not real, thats the thing about waifus, if you don`t like its gender pick a new one. b) for what is meant to be a male gardevoir, it has some big hips, who thought to themselves yes big child bearing hips, thats gonna make gardevoir more manly But i like it now thanks to its sword arms, diverse movepool and cool typing :) Dusknoir, it communicates with the other side and ferries souls over there, should have been legendary, it would be way cooler then Heatran Also Heatran i don`t how living in a volcano makes you legendary but it does >_>, what is really jarring, Camperupt IS a volcano you think that would be a legendary over the magma tortoise. I actually like Magmotar, if you ask me, Magmar has a lot of gen 4s problems, did it need shingle arms? tumors on its forehead? spines? black wrist bands? Magmotar on the other hand, has had its arm shingles replaced with a cannon and has no tumors on its head, i like both pokemon, its just if you look at magmar its has a bunch of things that make no damn sense, like with a lot of gen 4 pokes. I`ll also defend Eletirive it stands out more then its pre-vo, i mean no offense electrabuzz has the opposite problem from magmar its too simple, Electririve looks a big thunder sasquatch, which is much cooler then...what ever electrabuzz is meant to be, then again if your problem is it being too complex, i can`t really argue with you, Electirive has an intricate design. Palkia and Dialga i don`t like, they look too much like Robots, Arceus and Giratina on the other hand look organic yet alien, considering they are gods that makes sense, Palkia and Dialga on the other hand look like Robots, they should have been more like Arceus or Giratina in terms of design. Keep in mind though, i don`t think arceus should have been unobtainable, thats the only reason its one of my most hated pokemon, God should not be your servant, thats just plain silly. Not to mention Regigas why did they give it slow start? its a legendary **** balance >:( also what is made of? whats this white stuff? it is a plastic golem? Regirock/steel/ice are Rock Steel and Ice golems, Golems are usually made of clay of but i suppose if clay can be brought to life so can metal, ice and stone, but what is gigas made of? |
My least favoruite Pokemon would have to be Bibarel.
While Bidoof is absolutely adorable, they really lost their mind with its evolution. For starters, it has a horrible design and bears little resemblance to the beaver or they just did a bad job with it. On top of that, it has horrible stats and has no logic in quite a few of the moves he can learn. How does Bibarel learn surf? Strength and Rock Smash is acceptable, but Waterfall is just pushing it. Really bad job with it in general. |

Anyways, my least favourite? I really didn't like a lot of Pokemon in Gen IV. I really don't like Electrivire though. Or probapass. Or the Bidoof line. I didn't like Empoleon, either. Burmy's line is just ugly, although Mothim is okay. All the baby pokemon look pathetic. Tangrowth and Lickilicky are ugly as well. Magnezone is really disappointing, takes away the very cool visual aspect of the Magnemite line and throws in a generic UFO theme. A lot of Pokemon that gen were a lot uglier than Purugly, who I think is cute. |

Purugly. That thing sure is ugly. I always hated it's design and I never had it on my team too.
And, Probopass. Its not a good of a Pokemon, and has the worst design. Ever. |
Hmm?? What?? Favorite 4th gen pokemon??
haha~ why you didn't say so? Here, i list it... turtwig, chimchar, piplup, shelldon, aron, staraptor, all eeves evolution and my most favorite is gliscor!! |
My least favourite Gen IV Pokémon has got to be Weavile. Sneasel looked alright, but Weavile... ugh.
I don't know why, I always want to get rid of that damn thing fast when I see it. Kinda helps in fighting Cyrus, you can say. |

Indeed, the sprite/the visual appareance doesn't give him a relevant look to be able to surf/do waterfall! It lacks creativity and Bibarel is almost unusable in fights. Couldn't describe it better, vouch for this guy! |
I try to not dislike any Pokemon but seriously, I hate Bidoof and Bibarel. They're ugly, stupid and freaking everywhere in the early game, especially Bidoof. It's so stupid and it has... Balls on its chin. They're just pointless Pokemon I wouldn't use for anything else than HM slaving.
|
Lickilicky. It's the worst, ugliest, most unnecessary of the new evolutions gen 4 introduced. Probopass is a close second as it isn't much better in those regards.
|
1 WORD. WORMADAM. JUST FREAKING WORMADAM.
|
Lumineon. This Pokémon screams filler, has average stats, a boring design and is too forgettable. This Pokémon along with Finneon should've been replaced with something more recognisable.
Also, Arceus. This Pokémon has teared apart a lot of the continuity. |
I hate Regigigas as much as the next guy, but I do have to take exception to one part of the opening post and that is the bit where you say you need two DSs to get the Regis onto Platinum. It's sort of a bug bear of mine whenever people say you need two gameboys or two DSs or whatever to get all the pokemon and that the pokemon franchise encourages people to get two systems and buy both versions in a pair. You only need one friend and you could easily transfer your pokemon from D/P to Platinum. You don't even need that friend to be local as you could trade over the net too. I get that it was a little bit of a pain as transferring pokemon from 3rd gen over to D/P was made easy with the Pal park, but there wasn't much Gamefreak could really do to make it easier once the later DS released came through.
Also that raises another possibility which is catching the Regis in RSE and transferring them to Platinum through the Pal Park. As for my least favourite Sinnoh Pokemon, it's funny because I actually think that 4th gen introduced the best crop of pokemon of any generation, and the Sinnoh games especially have the best pokemon as they've included the best of the previous gens along with what was added. But there is one 4th gen pokemon I just can't stand, and that is Skuntank. I get a shiver up my spine just thinking about it. I have never and will never have a Skuntank on my team and thankfully there is really no need to as it's not very good. |
Probopass. I don't get why he was created. Ruined me.
|
Lucario. Since the thing has been released its been repeatedly thrown into the limelight again and again, with its own (awful) movie, repeated anime appearances, and then a mega evolution. The worst part of it is that it's actually really useful in competitive play as well. It's got a horribly ugly design and it's one of the few Pokemon I can honestly say that I absolutely loathe.
I loved the fourth gen overall, but Lucario...ugh. There's always an exception to the rule, and Lucario is mine. |
I actually really like(d) Gen.4 :) I don't know what it is exactly, but somehow the game still appeals to me a lot each time I play (or want to play) it.
However, there are still some Pokemon in Gen.4 that I don't like or are not necessary in my opinion, mostly the "additional evolution Pokemon", 9/10 they spoiled my feelings and ideas to their previous evolutions and are just overdone: 1. Probopass - Definitely one of the Pokemon I really dislike (at all times) because of how it looks (mustache - why?!) 2. Magnezone - Yeah, just looks weird, I don't like the ufo-look and I think the Magnemite line was done with just Magneton, nothing more 3. Lickylicky - Seriously, looks so weird imo, it should just have been Lickitung alone, no evolution 4. Tangrowth - Again, kinda same story as Lickylicky, why did Tangela need an evolution? 5. Rhyperior - I'm a huge fan of Rhyhorn/Rhydon but Rhyperior spoiled everything (no offense), it's just... overdone imo |
Male Combee. This needs no explanation.
|
Chimchar is also probably the least favorite starter pokemon of all time for me. Another would have to be Rhyperior, it looks way too drastic from its previous stages. I know evolution is suppose to make them look different from its previous form but this is way too different.
|
I agree with quite a few people here when I say that Rhyperior was overdone. I like Rhyhorn/Rhydon but Rhyperior just looks.... off. Like they were trying to hard. The only Evolutions from that weird set (Probopass, Electrivire, Magmortar, etc.) is Magnezone ( but I do prefer the look of Magneton better) and Weavile.

Arceus and Regigigas
Arceus is overrated and Regigigas has a terrible ability which makes him hard to use. |
