Synopsis

Episodes: 24
Status: Currently Airing
Genres: Action, Comedy, School

Kill la Kill is set at Honnouji Academy, a fictional high school that is dominated by its fearsome student council, led by Satsuki Kiryuuin. The council members wear Goku Uniforms that grant them superhuman abilities, which they use to oppress the rest of the school's students and staff. Ryuko Matoi, a student wielding half of a scissor-shaped sword, transfers to Honnouji Academy in search of the owner of the other half of the scissor blade, the person who killed her father. Defeated by the council after interrogating Satsuki over the killer's identity and whereabouts, Ryuko comes across a sentient sailor uniform she names Senketsu. Using Senketsu's special abilities, Ryuko stands up against Satsuki and her henchmen to liberate Honnouji Academy from their iron grip and find out the truth behind her father's murder.

This anime is the most ridiculous series I have ever come across XD To be honest, I've only managed to watch the first episode and all the dramatic-ness, especially those costumes, were too much to handle. But I've heard it's gotten quite the attention since it aired.

Satoshi Ookami February 9th, 2014 12:13 AM

Kill la Kill has got its own thread? =D
Wow =D

Okay... when I saw first episode I thought... "What in the f*cking crap is this sh*t"... and now I'm seriously looking forward to each new episode =D
For something so Trigger like, it has too much of symbolism =D

WAREWARE WA NUUUUUUUUDISUTOOOOO BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICHI best scene =D

derozio February 10th, 2014 4:08 PM

Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuudiiiiiisstoooo Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeacccccccccccccchiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

^ awesome scene, yes haha. Love Aikuro. Such a hilarious guy lmao.

Anyway, as is probably evident, I just LOVE the series. I know it isn't exactly the perfect anime which deserves high praise when looked at from a critic's perspective, perhaps, but I enjoy the hell out of it and don't care about anything else :p Last few episodes have been amazing. I did ~sorta~ get bored during episode 14 and a half of episode 15 but those two are the only occassions this series has ever bored me. All the other episodes I've enjoyed immensely. :3 Mako is life. Nui is kawaii loli predator. Ragyo is fabulous. Sasuga Trigger.

Also, the character designs are amazing. <3; I love the designs for the elite four. Sanageyama and Nonon look great, especially. Nonon has that amazing voice too, lmfao. NANI SOREI?!? lmao

Exactly =D That guy is totally best character =D
Still... teacher stripping in front of student... only possible in anime =D

TwilightBlade February 11th, 2014 2:28 PM

For 4 months, I avoided watching this anime because I thought it was about girls in skimpy combat uniforms just duking it out for fanservice reasons. Seeing screenshots of Harime didn't help either as I again thought it was all for fanservice (could her character be any more opposite of sweet lolita?!). Then, a few days ago, Sakazuki said that clothing and nudity are themes. Huh, I decided to give it a try.

Within 3 episodes, I was hooked. I then marathoned it and caught myself up to episode 17. I quite like the introductions and battles of the Elite 4. My favorite is Sanageyama, who had a great turnaround after losing to Ryuko the first time. He looks better with the blindfold anyway.

Evyl February 11th, 2014 11:00 PM

I love Kill la Kill! One of my favourite animes, though I don't want to pass judgement until it finishes.

I love Uzu <3

Of course, because we have NUDIST BEACH terrorist group =D
But you are right, Blade... if you look at it only on the surface, you will see a fanservice, you need to go deeper to see the symbolism Kill la Kill works with =)

People should seriously stop using this...
Anime do not have a plural version... animes is absolutely ugly o.O

Evyl February 12th, 2014 2:47 AM

Oh, I didn't know it was collective too. My bad, sorry.

TwilightBlade February 13th, 2014 8:08 PM

Episode 18 was out of this world phenomenal.

Spoiler:
Plenty of plot twists and a confirmation of what I suspected about Ryuko and Satsuki.

derozio February 14th, 2014 8:28 PM

Agreed. The show is on a high right now. Hope it ends on a high note and doesn't disappoint. <3

Episode 18
Spoiler:
it was so good I had to download it in HD later on lol. Ryuko and Satsuki being sisters I saw coming. The fact that Ryuko is synchronized with life fibers too was surprising! We finally get to see soichirou too. He's quite a good looking man.

Gama-Mako were awesome as always. Uzu too. Highlight of the episode were the battles, though. Animation was good. Also, loved how matoi overpowered Nui. :3 And Ragyo looked amazing in Junketsu. It is almost as if it was made just for her.

Speculation on my part - Satsuki will have the other half of scissor blade by series end and both ryuko and her will defeat Ragyo with together. :p

Also, I found the crotch touching scene more uncomfortable than the semi rape in episode 16 lol. Maybe because I watched this with my younger sister.

You wanna rape your imouto? o.O

Spoiler:
Anyways... I AM YOUR... MOTHER scene? Trigger never fails to surprise =D
I also kinda anticipated our main heroines to be sisters but I did not expect to be valid o.O

Wonder what relation Tsumugu Kinagase is to Ryuuko
Spoiler:

No, st00pid. :p I meant to say that I saw that semi-rape scene alone. While I saw the crotch scene with my sis (she was watching the ep with me). Made me uncomfortable because a family member was around while I was watching stuff like that lol. :p

This theory has been going on around for a while. Won't be surprised if it turns out to be true.

I was the same way, except everyone was talking about it and were using avatars so I gave it a go, and I'm hooked too @[email protected]

Ep 19 is going to be one of the best according to one of the VA's who loved it. I just hope aniplex doesn't delay another episode... again.

derozio February 16th, 2014 9:07 AM

There have been quite a few of these episode delays for a while now, right? I'm not gonna be holding my breath. Seems it'll be equally likely for this ep too. :p

Also, the preview showed absolutely nothing. Must mean the content is too good to be spoiled even slightly. Plus Ryuko's VA said it was one of the best episodes (yeah, heard on NF that it was Ryuko's VA) so I'm pretty pumped. Really, really looking forward to it.

Either way, reiterating because can't stress it enough - episode 18 was one of the most entertaining anime episodes I've ever seen. It was great. The episode made KlK jump like 30+ ranks in MAL Top Anime list lol.

Sylphiel February 16th, 2014 1:47 PM

I remember first watching this since I was like "eh I have this series queued up and I'm running out of stuff, might as well try it" - followed soon by "what the hell am I even watching lol". I just stood there like wondering what was even going on, but still found myself wanting to watch more since as random as it was, it was...addictive, I guess?

I slacked off a bit watching it over the past month or two, though. Finally got around to catching up on episodes. PLOT TWISTS WAT. Why did I stop watching this, seriously.

(Although I will say, watching some of these episodes with my husband was, um. A bit awkward to say the least. I believe it was episode 8 or 9 that he first watched with me and oh dear god lol.)

I want more now. MORE. X(

Holly cow... if Ami who's been in many epic series says something like this then... oh god, my nudity is not ready!

derozio February 17th, 2014 5:02 AM

@Sylphiel - Inorite? So damn addictive. <3; AND ME TOO. JUST TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY MOAR THEN WE HAVE THURSDAY AND NEW KLK!! :DDDDD

Also, saw this amazing fanart. Spoiler-y if you haven't seen ep 18, I guess.

I want this to happen. <3

@Satoshi Ookami - haha, same here. :p

Also, anyone thinking aikuro might be related to Kiryuuins or Ryuko or something too? I don't doubt anything after the latest episodes lol

TwilightBlade February 20th, 2014 1:34 PM

I NEED MORE

Ugh time to go look at amazing fanart while we wait for next Thursday. ;-;

Nude Elite Four, hah! I quite liked every scene with any of the members.

Mako and Gamagori, so precious. :'3

It was possible to hate Raygo even more. I wanted to cry in the middle of the episode. "The deeper your rage, the more useful you are to me" bleh! I can't wait to see her head on the end of a pike.

derozio February 20th, 2014 1:47 PM

I can't wait. wat to do. come soon next thursday :(

Dat Gamako. <3
Dat Nude Elite 4. Dat Nonon, especially. <3;
Dat horny Mako Mom huehuehue
Dat creepy mom-daughter spanking ughhhhhh >_>;
Dat poor senketsu. ;___;
Dat brave satsuki. BEST GIRL (after mako)

Satisfied with this week's episode. Downloading in HD. :D

I didn't exactly "hate" her before this ep. But yeah, this episode made me hate her. :x She's horrible. I want her to die in the most painful way possibru. RYUKO SATSUKI TAG TEAM HER AND KIRU RA KIRU HER WITH UR SCISSORS!!!!

Altairis February 20th, 2014 8:43 PM

I think it's really funny because the anime started out with just Ryuko wearing basically nothing, and now it's progressed to just like 2 or 3 people clothed per episode and nobody even says anything about it haha.

Also the mother really needs to leave because it makes me uncomfortable whenever she touches Satsuki seeing as she always needs to touch her boobs or crotch >.>

Because...
That's the power of...
NUUUUUUUUUUUUDIIIIIIIIIIIISTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAACH!

And they need to be nude to fight against clothes.

Evyl February 21st, 2014 1:10 AM

Episode 19, oh my ♥♥♥♥ing god.

Spoiler:
Yay nudity, but still holy ♥♥♥♥ cats. o__o After 18's plot twist, this is just even crazier. A timeskip can be tricky, but they've done it super well, without highlight events that happened during the fight too much. Lol that Uzu's is the last Goku to go though.

Satoshi Ookami February 22nd, 2014 1:23 AM

EP19:
Spoiler:
OMFG OMFG! GOD OF NUDITY BE WITH ME!
THIS WAS F*CKING AWESOME!

And Ryuuko's godly pissed o.O This is bad, this is seriously bad, Ragyou, hold your clothes.

Weeaboo Name February 22nd, 2014 3:27 AM

Sad that Ryuuko is the worst thing bout her own show. All that moping and now she's CRAWLING.

derozio February 22nd, 2014 5:14 AM

I'm actually gonna agree with that. Ryuko just isn't the main character this show needs or deserves. She was okay in the beginning. But her mood swings as of late have been terrible. I'm not fond of it.

I consider Satsuki a much more interesting and better lead character.

I have to agree too. The worst thing about Ryuko's mode swings is that we already know she's just going to put Senketsu back on like she did before and kick butt. She did this before when Nudist Beach explained everything, and it literally only took 1 episode iirc. And I doubt she could kick Ragyo's butt without wearing Senketsu... so yeah. I guess it might be kinda boring if she just went along with everything? But I dunno. I also may be completely wrong since this show seems to just throw the randomest things at us, so ~_~

Sheep February 27th, 2014 2:14 PM

SO I caught up with the anime slightly. Boyfriend and I decided to watch from where we left off (episode 3) and got to 10. I'm so excited to see Inumuta finally getting more screentime ohmygosh. :') Should catch up to where the series is by tonight or, at most, tomorrow night; things are really picking up and I'm loving how serious yet ridiculous this show can be at times.

But it's still not enough ridiculous yet! =D
The biggest fun comes in the second part =D
And NUUUDISTO BEEEACHI! :D
And then the last episodes get drama... the anime is full of paradoxes =D

derozio February 28th, 2014 6:00 AM

Yes, Janna, second part is great. :D Also, after today's episode, I couldn't help but change my theme to something Satsuki based. I love her the most out of all characters in this show. Such a badass. <3;

Its really hard to pick a favorite, they're all pretty badass in my mind.

I just finished speedrunning Kill la Kill and just got up to speed. Now I have to wait to see what happens next?! This is the worst ;___;

Oh, I have it worst. I'll have to leave home, not have PC access - will have to download episodes and watch them on a 2 or 2.5 (I'm not sure) inch screen of my mobile and have to wait one week extra for each episode. Like, the only site that works for videos on my mobile is wapfever. and those guys are lazy and upload Kill la Kill like a week after the episode is actually out. :<

Can anybody really beat Satsuki's butt-naked rampage this latest episode? She was hanged naked for a month outside, probably not fed properly and was violated. Even after all that, she still managed to beat so many COVERS while having her hands totally tied and without any weapon. <3 She's the ultimate badass.

True, you got me there.

HOWEVER, who can be more badass than this man?

Also:
[spoiler]For some reason I can't link this picture, but image.google "aikuro mikisugi gif" and you'll find an awesome picture comparing him to Professor Sycamore haha : 3 [spoiler]

derozio February 28th, 2014 9:00 PM

Ryuko's expression in that first pic was kinda hot. I don't know, there was something about it and the voice in which she said "I-I understand" that appealed a lot to me lol. :p Aikuro's a badass too haha. :p

And wow, wtf is going on in the second pic?! Hotlinking isn't permitted, I think. Also, the hotlinking blocking image has swears. :p Better change it soon, brah!

Edit: "Not sure if Professor Sycamore or Mikisugi Aikuro", eh? :p

Legobricks February 28th, 2014 9:09 PM

Why is it called Kill la Kill? Does that make sense in any language?

derozio February 28th, 2014 9:15 PM

Oh no, I'm sure it doesn't. Apart from, I guess, in Japanese. The original Japanese name is Kiru ra Kiru. Its tvtropes entry says the following:

Quote:

  • Pun-Based Title: The "kiru" in the title can be rendered as Engrish for "kill", or as Japanese which means "to cut" or "to wear (put on)".
  • And "la", or "ra", is a homophone for "naked" (most commonly as "zenra", "completely naked").
  • The series in general is filled with puns and double-meanings of words related to clothing and oppression, the two major themes. According to Word of God, the show's premise comes from the fact that the words "fashion" and "fascism" look almost exactly the same in Japanese.
  • Spoiler:
Episode 17 reveals that Satsuki and Nudist Beach take the title literally: Kill the Wearables.

And it makes sense. Considering the themes displayed in the show.

El Héroe Oscuro February 28th, 2014 9:23 PM

Can someone explain to me what the role of Harime is? Without going to much into spoilers, I know she's affiliated with Kiryuin, but I never really understood what she does. They make it seem like she's just a lone ranger, but I don't get what her role in the organization is (besides harassing Ryuko)

derozio February 28th, 2014 9:25 PM

She's the head tailor. :p As stated here,

"A couturier (French: [ku.ty.ʁje]) is an establishment or person involved in the clothing fashion industry who makes original garments to order for private clients."

She's known as the "Grand Couturier" in the show. :p You even see her comment on the dresses, how well they've been sewn and even see her working on that big-ass kamui once in one of the latest episodes.

Also, I rewatched episode 20. The music at this scene, wow. <3; Do not open the spoiler in case you have yet to see episode 20, guys. You have been warned.

I was thinking bout Kill la Kill earlier today and I just realized someting; why the hell does Ragyo keep fondling Satsuki whenever she can? I mean...has that even been addressed in the show yet?

derozio March 1st, 2014 1:17 PM

Oh, you haven't even seen the amazingly good stuff, lol. I'll post them later on. Maybe tomorrow. Will have to take care not to post NSFW stuff, though. Plenty of those cosplays for KlK haha.

I just always assumed Ragyo was either

1) A person devoid of feelings as they're a LF being or 2) were being mind-controlled by the original LF.
Or maybe just a bad parent who is into incest. :p

Yeah that seems accurate enough. Can't believe there's only like 4 episodes left in the anime. That's going to be a sad day when that rolls around /:

I thought this was a sick cosplay of Ryuko:

I love the sword more than anything. Whoever designed it did an amazing job getting every last detail of it right, from decapitation mode all the way down to the curved hilt of it at the end.

That sword does look pretty damn awesome, yes! :O

Here are some more amazing ones, imo (NSFW, I guess):

oh and I wrote a Kill la Kill article thingy summarising my thoughts on the series on MAL:
Quote:

Originally Posted by me on MyAnimeList

To provide some insight as to why I consider it a worth-while anime and why it shouldn’t be labeled as “fanservice-y piece of ♥♥♥♥”.

First off, let me ask you a question - why do you watch anime? What *should* be the main reason as to why you watch anime? “Fun". Yes, to have fun. And this series provides you exactly that – a fun ride.

Whether or not you find this anime enjoyable is entirely up to you. But to label it as just an overrated piece of junk that merely got popular because it panders to the lowest common denominator, ie, the perverted male mind, would do it a rather huge disservice. Which is why I’m writing the following. To address some of the issues and to talk about what the series does right.

-Fanservice and “2deep4u narrative layers incorporating it”-
Yes, Kill la Kill has fan fanservice. There’s boobs, butts, a few shots of vaginal areas and scenes containing incest (slightly uncomfortable to watch even for me, tbh). There are even panty-shots, no, correction, ‘striped panty’ shots thrown in there for those that are into it. There’s an extreme amount of blood in quite a few scenes too – none of the above help its case against whatever this series is being labeled as. No one can deny it. It is all there.

And those that try to justify the fanservice by saying “lol you dumbasses trigger only intended for the fanservice-y bits to serve as a narrative device to showcase a deeper layer of narration that deals with women and a bunch of other symbolism that’s 2deep4u” are, in my eyes, not exactly correct. Sure, the series DOES seem to possess a few themes and it does serve as a coming-of-age story for the most part as far as the main protagonist Ryuko is concerned – but it frankly doesn’t seem like Trigger intended for it to have deep psychological ♥♥♥♥ in it or something that requires deep analysis. They just went ahead and made something they had fun making – a ridiculously over-the-top series with a premise that is far from what you’d see in a regular anime. Which is what makes it fun.

Frankly speaking, the fanservice here doesn’t seem all that intrusive and bothersome. This series somehow manages to escape that problem – the main girls do wear extremely skimpy clothes when they fight, yes, but the shots are almost never framed so that they concentrate excessively on the naughty bits of the female characters. Also, because there’s always a lot of ♥♥♥♥ going on at any point of time, you don’t really have time to concentrate on Ryuko’s boobs or Satsuki’s butt.

Either way, this is highly subjective. If you ABSOLUTELY can’t stand fanservice – this just might not be for you. BUT, if you can bear with it and widen your horizons a bit by trying to look at the larger picture, you’ll probably notice that this show does do a lot of things right.

-Art Style-
This isn’t your typical anime which utilizes the same old typical ‘bishounen male’ and ‘sexy/busty female’ templates that you’ve probably seen a bazillion times before. It possesses an art style highly reminiscent of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (not surprising) – it is much more cartoon-ish than your average anime. But that isn’t a negative. A more loose art style allows for the creators to go absolutely bonkers with whatever it is they are trying to convey with any specific scene in this show. As a result, a lot of cuts are very dramatic and creative – something that wouldn’t have been possible (or effective) had they restricted it regular anime art style. It all fits in with the over-the-top vibe of the series and helps create a distinct look which makes it stand out from the crowd.

-Animation-
Decent. Trigger’s first series so they’re bound by budget constraints and it is visible. They try to restrict a lot of movement when the not-so-important scenes are going on to save funds for blowing on the action sequences. The low-budget scenes can look jarring at times but it is to be expected considering the budget constraints they have. They do try to hide most of it with creative cuts and pretty artwork, though, and it does work for the most part. When they do go all out with the budget, they really do a great job at it. Just goes to show the animation problems aren’t due to lack of creative talent but more due to lack of finance.

-Story-
A pretty simple set-up. And a very entertaining story as of yet. There were a few ups and downs between episodes 7 and 15 but the series has managed to be consistently highly entertaining. Do not go into it expecting it to be a deep story and you’ll probably have a lot of fun. It starts off with a monster of the week format, goes on with it for a few episodes, and then shifts gears. It is only after episode 12 that some revelations come to light and we come to know more about the big shots. And not before episode 15 does the series start having some serious plot progression. Before episode 15 the series did possess a very chaotic pacing as far as events-per-episode are concerned but the rate of overall plot progression was very slow. Which led some fans to say “You haven’t TRULY seen Kill la Kill if you haven’t seen past episode 15 yet”. And I’m inclined to agree with them to a degree. The series does pick up quite a bit after that. Don’t expect a ♥♥♥♥-ton of character development or earth-shattering revelations , though. It is all pretty predictable. What make the things that take place in these episodes so damn effective is the execution – Trigger does an amazing job at showing off predictable events in an unpredictable fashion. They’re masters when it comes to it and it makes the recent episodes look really, really good when compared to the episodes that precede them.

-Characters-
They’re all fairly good with a decent amount of backstory – a sufficient amount which is JUST right. The characters that stand out are definitely Ryuko, Satsuki and Mako. Former two are the main characters of the series and rivals. They’re always at each other’s throats – as if fated to be enemies. These two receive the most screen-time. Ryuko, the MC, faces problems like identity crisis and goes berserk a few times. The story is ~apparently~ supposed to be a coming-of-age story so a teenage girl having a lot of mood-swings and being very impulsive in nature probably doesn’t seem out-of-character. But she can be annoying to some due to it anyway. I personally found it really annoying when she had an outburst in episode 19. Mostly because she has had similar outbursts not too long ago. But I digress.

Mako, on the other hand, is more of a comedic side-kick than a main character. She is eccentric and hyperactive. Her gags can be hit or miss for people depending on their perspective. Personally found her and her antics highly enjoyable and a breath of fresh air when compared to contemporary sidekicks. There are two more that I would love to talk about but I shall not because they’re integral to the plot and disclosing information about them could be considered a spoiler. Anyway, as far as character development is concerned, it is present, yes. But not *too* much of it. Still a few episodes to go so some time left to judge it. There could be a lot of changes (wouldn’t be surprised looking at the recent episodes), so yeah.

Also, this series consists of a highly female-oriented cast. The males are present, yeah, but it is the women who possess boobs of steel, strength and ambition to do things their way.

-Soundtrack-
Simply put – it is great. Every track fits. Tracks with vocals like Blumenkranz, Before My Body is Dry, Suck your blood and Till I die stand out. The character themes fit the characters nicely. The BG music does a good job of creating the required atmosphere during any particular scene. 9/10 on this front.

All in all, this is a series worth checking out. Do not expect it to be anything – just judge it for what it is rather than for what it could’ve been or what you wanted it to be. A series with a good art style and creative yet dramatic cuts, amazing soundtrack, a fun cast and just over-the-top action. Definitely check it out if you’re into action anime. Or if you are just looking for an over-the-top series that isn’t afraid of doing things that are considered very far-fetched or out-of-the-box.

Overall Rating - 8.6//10. Rounded off to a 9.

Anyone on MAL here? :p Do click on the "Helpful/Not Helpful" if you are haha.

Episode 21 was great. Looking forward to Episode 22.
Spoiler:
Hopefully Nui will be killed next episode.

Weeaboo Name March 6th, 2014 5:25 PM

Ryuuko out of her Sasuke phase. Glorious. Nui has both parts of the scissors now. Worry.

TwilightBlade March 6th, 2014 10:37 PM

I gave you a thumbs up on MAL for the great review, brother. ;D

Episode 21 was great.
Spoiler:
I started getting teary-eyed when Mako was killed in Ryuko's mind. It was a predictable episode otherwise.

Nui nailed to the wall, hah.

derozio March 10th, 2014 6:30 AM

Really loved the episode. My beloved Satsuki looks amazing in anything she wears. Best girl.

E4 were surprisingly useful, ooo. And that scene with Mako wouldve surprised me had I not already been spoiled to it.

I felt the first minute or so were unnecessary, though. :/ Come on trigger, you came up with a reason for kamuis being so raunchy in design (which i liked) but there's no excuse to this. :(

Just three more episodes. I want it to blow me away in the next few eps. And it probably will. I hope so. Oh, and that was a LOT of blood haha. And Nui's expressions were priceless.

Zet March 13th, 2014 5:15 PM

Just finished watching Episode 22

Spoiler:
Fight Club Mako ftw!!!

I wonder if Junketsu will be able to talk soon...

derozio March 14th, 2014 7:51 AM

Dat Nui *******s)
Dat E4 loyalty and stupidity
Dat Ryuko getting touched
Dat Majestic Bow
Dat Croquette
Dat Order Regalia
Dat lovely dinner-tea time
Dat almost 'on...on..one-' :o
Dat Ryuko blush afer talking to Satsuki
Dat Mako

10/10 TRIGGER U ROCK. SUCH A FEELS-Y EPISODE.

Edit: LMFAO WTF. Why is e x p r e s s i o n (s) censored?

Weeaboo Name March 14th, 2014 8:46 AM

Best bit of the episode was Hououmaru's circus act to pick up Nui.

derozio March 14th, 2014 8:55 AM

You always are the different one in the group, lappy lmao.

I found the satsuki-ryuko moments to be the best, tbh.

Weeaboo Name March 14th, 2014 9:00 AM

My second favourite thing about the episode was Gamagoori's croquettes.

TwilightBlade March 15th, 2014 9:13 PM

Episode 22 was spectacular. Nui is disarmed and cracks, Ryuko and Satsuki have some great exchanges of dialogue, Elite Four show their undying loyalty, and Mako is Mako, babyyyy.

Expression~

Altairis March 15th, 2014 9:42 PM

I think Episode 22 was my favorite episode <3

Spoiler:
I'm just so happy we get to see 2 star Mako again :3 Just think about it Mako is going to kick butt in the next episode !! (hopefully) ! I agree with Dante, the Ryuko + Satsuki moments were good too. :3

Ugh, seeing Nui go crazy was the best. I cringed when she got stabbed and her arms got cut off though because I feel sympathy for every character regardless. Also Mako's comeback omfdgjksdf excited for Episode 23

Maybe in the last episode?

Much cuteness =D

TwilightBlade March 20th, 2014 3:09 PM

Episode 23, let's go.

Spoiler:
Great great great episode. The first half was predictable as the sisters went after Ragyo and the Elite Four got their uniforms back. The E4's black and gold uniforms are magnificent.

Sanageyama is still my favorite of the Elite Four. I kinda got emotional when he regained his eyesight!

Bam, middle of the episode, Ryuko appeared to have been finished by Ragyo. NOOO. It was all a part of their plan to distract Ragyo and strike down the Biofiber.

I wanted Mako to fight more, but it was such a heartwarming moment when she kept reminding herself how she ought to protect the ship. When she ran in the energy turbine to power up the ship's final gambit, the final trump card... Epic moment when the Naked Sun, or whatever the Nudist Beach ship is called, pierced the original life fiber.

Oh, I also saw a little bit of Gamagori and Mako moment. From what I could tell, he shielded her and put her hat back on her. ♥

Nui creeps me out! She regained her arms! Ragyo wears the ultimate Kamui!

Weeaboo Name March 21st, 2014 8:26 AM

Bloody hell, that was boring.

Altairis March 21st, 2014 5:23 PM

I really had expected to see some of the Mako that we saw in episode 7 (iirc) due to the way that Episode 22 ended, but that didn't really happen this episode so I'm crossing my fingers for next episode =/

I think it was pretty good, but definitely not one of the best episodes. It was mostly setup for the next one I think (moving everyone on to Honnouji Academy, getting the E4 set up again, etc).

Spoiler:
Why did Nui have to get her arms back D: Also I'm still kind of confused on why Ragyo and Nui want the world to be destroyed by the Life fibers? Are they just delusional since it would result in their deaths too (wouldn't it?)

derozio March 21st, 2014 5:30 PM

They'd survive somehow. Or so they believe. They're probably one of those characters who're like 'these people are gonna change the world and I'll be the one to be a witness to the change' types that are found in anime. Except that there won't be a world remaining when they're done lol.

Meh, I think there's just something wrong with their heads. Ragyo just wants to help LF just because. Not like a large part of this show makes any sense anyway haha. ;p But I hope trigger gives a satisfactory answer to all our questions. Either way, final episode is gonna be great fun.

Homura Akemi March 22nd, 2014 5:00 AM

I just started watching it (literally just finished episode 1), and..well that's definitely a strong start. That's one unique design for a weapon imo...

I'm late, I know.

derozio March 22nd, 2014 5:48 AM

As they say - Better late than never. ;p

I saw ep 23 in good quality a while ago. It was an okay episode by KlK's standard. Obvious set-up episode is obvious. What I loved - Ryuko's signal, new gokuseifuku of elite 4, ragyo's VA's work. And of course, small touches like Gama putting Mako's hat back on. Bring on the last ep! Been one hell of a fun ride so far!

All of the new suits for the Elite 4 were awesome in my opinion, I liked how they brought that back. Plus, how can you not like the fact that Uzu technically has a lightsaber now d:

derozio March 23rd, 2014 10:04 AM

I like how Nonon is practically naked. Nothing covers her butt and a small heart shaped piece of uniform covers her sweet spot lmfao.
Gamagoori's I like the least. Uzu and Inumuta got the coolest ones. Plus, @Inumuta -
>blue spiky hair
>red glasses thingy
>???

Spoiler:
I really hate the little twists that are impossible until they happen, like Ragyo cutting Ryuko in half from both sides, which should have severed her fibers completely, but her somehow being able to fix herself because she 'wasn't completely severed' or whatever. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ :| The rest of the episode was alright, kind of boring because Ragyo is a huge Mary Sue.

The thing I didn't get about that scene was that in the episode both halves of her body fell to the sea from opposite sides of the original fiber, meaning that her body had to have been completely severed. Faulty logic on their part.

Really? I thought she was wearing something because she has little bones/stripes pattern on her stomach, haha. I suppose I wasn't staring intently at her... butt. :P

It's justified they are wearing less clothing now that they're smiting clothing.

They said it had to be severed from both sides. Just cutting one side will allow the regeneration to happen, like what happened when Ragyo had her head cut off.

Yeah I remember that. But if you go back and watch the episode, her swords go in and then out (like the motion of the scissors when Nui got her arms cut off), which gives the notion that each side of the life fiber got cut.

I guess it just didn't cut all the way, but you can see where I'm coming from if you watch that scene again (11:54 into the episode).

@Lilith - I didn't even notice her uniform myself, lol. If it weren't for those perverted guys at FB, I wouldn't have given it a second look. :p And I think she has a super thin layer of clothing. Just see through. So 'practically' naked. :p

as for the whole ragyo-ryuko fiasco - honestly, ragyo herself explains it. And even if you find it an 'asspull', well, this is KlK. Ya just go along with the flow and not question much haha. I mean, honestly, it is popcorn entertainment at its finest. I don't think people really need to look too much into it and just accept things as they come.

I don't have the episode with me so I can't really check whether the 'cut' was legit or got blocked. But it didn't seem like much of a big deal to me when I watched it.

And I'm not spoilering this as I'm not being super specific about anything. :p

Yeah, I get it now why it didn't kill her. I think I was just too confused during that whole scene that I just completely missed the whole "block" explanation. Oh well, no reason to cry over spilled milk.

Still can't believe there's only one episode left though /:

derozio March 23rd, 2014 5:23 PM

Tell me about it, haha. This is the first series I'm following from the very beginning to the end weekly. I can't believe it either ;p But all goood things must come to an end. I don't know what I will do the day One Piece ends lol.

I just hope trigger makes something as good, or hell, even better than this soon! We already have Little Witch Academia 2 coming soon so that's that too lol

antemortem March 24th, 2014 5:38 AM

If the ending isn't a whole bunch of pulling ♥♥♥♥ out of thin air then I won't be satisfied. That's what it's been since the beginning, so Ryuuko better get her butt kicked for the first nineteen minutes and then pull some super cool new technique out of Senketsu, kill Ragyo (the first death in the series, hopefully!) or at least leave her for Satsuki to decide, and live happily ever after with Mako's family. 8D

derozio March 24th, 2014 6:10 AM

The smell of sarcasm is strong in this one. (b")b

I'm not gonna predict anything. I just hope it'll blow me away, that's all. :D I liked how Noragami and Log Horizon ended. But KlK should do better. :p

It didn't start that way but the more I thought about it the more I realized that's how every fight thus far has concluded, so eh. It's just really predictable. I'm very happy with the series, else I wouldn't have watched fourteen episodes in a couple days to get caught up, it's just that nothing's built up for a grand finale except in the last thirty seconds or so of Episode 23. Each episode has been a grand bout of it's own, so the finale isn't as anticipated for me. :p If that makes sense. I do expect a huge fight, just nothing any more glamorous than usual. I mean, Satsuki vs. Ryuko was as good as it gets imo!

derozio March 24th, 2014 6:26 AM

I know what you mean, lol. KlK has been very predictable. But still enjoyable. I just hope it ends somewhat satisfactorily. A bad end can ruin a series in my eyes. And leave a very bad taste. ;p

Satoshi Ookami March 24th, 2014 9:57 AM

Why do people want to find logic in Trigger anime?

derozio March 24th, 2014 3:02 PM

Yeahh, as much as I love it, depth and tight plot aren't its forte. What it excels at is creative, stylish visuals and amazing soundtrack. And just being fun for the sake of fun. :p But wow its just a few days away. The finale. ;; The more closer it comes the more weirder it feels. I mean. No KlK. ;;

that said, I don't want S2. Do original stuff, trigger. And this time make it a series with some more depth, maybe? :p

Um... well... yea, in a way that was normal (for Trigger that is).
Might be the reason why they still haven't made the second OVA...

derozio March 25th, 2014 1:45 AM

Second one wasn't made as they didn't originally have money. Now they do and they've confirmed that it'll be out sometime soon. It was 2015 iirc. :p

either way, we're getting slightly offtopic. Bottom line - I hope KlK 24 is a blast. Hope the OVA episode of KlK has some sister action. ;p And hope they make a new series with the kind of story and world LWA had along with the creativity and great soundtrack KlK had.

Seems like their next work is a generic harem LN. But I'm gonna watch it to see how Trigger manages it :p

Weeaboo Name March 25th, 2014 10:20 AM

During the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scene they said something about the lifefibers in Nui rejecting other ones iirc. How did Ragyou give her new arms?

Why is Sana getting his eyes back the worst reveal in anime history?

Trigger lost their way.

derozio March 25th, 2014 10:39 AM

You do not question Trigger logic, Lappy. Trigger logic questions you.

antemortem March 25th, 2014 2:05 PM

I think Nui's lifefibers are the same as Ragyo's which is why they weren't rejected.

derozio March 25th, 2014 2:26 PM

I didn't even think much of the scene c'mon you guys why bust yo brains. ;p

I was like 'Okay, so Ragyo made a new pair of hands that somehow got stitched to Nui's shoulders. Ok' . Also dave if it was same as ragyo's she'd have been able to feel the 'pleasure' of junketsu like Ragyo could so no.

antemortem March 25th, 2014 2:29 PM

When did Nui ever even wear Junketsu .-.

derozio March 25th, 2014 2:34 PM

She didn't but she and ragyo did say she won't be able to experience junketsu OR any other kamui because her body rejects them in that yuri scene. Ragyo can wear junketsu. Nui can't. So they can't have the same kind of LF.

antemortem March 25th, 2014 2:39 PM

Oh.

Yep, Trigger logic at its best then, it seems.
