Your Starter Pokémon?
In Black and White, we were given the chance to choose either Tepig, Snivy, or Oshawott as our starters--which did you select? In Black, I chose Tepig; for some reason, I always have the tendency to go with the fire-type when picking starter. Not sure why, though. xD" In my second run, I went with Snivy. In Pokémon White, I selected Oshawott.
In my playthrough of Black, I obviously chose Oshawott because well I am not "that Oshawott girl" for nothing you know. Plus, he's the easiest of the bunch to use in my opinion and not the only one with the wonky stats.
My first playthrough I chose Oshawott. Admittedly just so I could get Pansear and then box the lil' otter for the rest of the game. >>"
But after that, I always just went with Tepid. I love the lil' guy so much. and his evo line is so epic. <3 It's a little funny to me because normally I rather really dislike fire-type, but Tepig, Pignite, and Emboar I really enjoy. .u. |
I choose Snivy a lot of times, sometimes I go with oshawott
I wasn't careful of my options as Snivy and it's evolution got much trouble to counter, Tepig soon after Piginte and emboar will be lotsa hell towards it. Oshawott just clear the cleaning with Ice Beam or Aerial Ace XD or even mega horn |
I chose Tepig in white, oshawott in black and snivy in black 2
I picked Snivy first time I went through Black, picked Oshawott when I went through White and I picked Tepig in one of my runthroughs of White 2.
I picked Oshawott in White. But I choose tepig in Black and ended up not using him at all.
I chose Oshawatt in my white version and then Snivy in my white 2, but now I have all three of the starters. I really don't use emboar any, just a pokedex filler if you ask me.
In my first run of Pokemon White in 2011, I picked Snivy because I loved its design, and I didn't like the Tepig and Oshawott lines back then. By the time Black 2 and White 2 came out, I had warmed up to the Oshawott line, but I still went with Snivy because there were better Water types available, like Azumarill, Starmie, and Lapras. That, and I still like the designs of the Snivy line more. I don't mind using the Oshawott line in ROM hacks, though.
I picked Snivy in my first Black and my first White playthroughs. Also, I picked Snivy for my Black 2 playthrough... You might say that I'ma fan of the Snivy line...
I have used the other two in other playthroughs of the game, but I just like Serperior a lot. |
I first went for oshawott because I felt bad that no one liked his line haha, and I thought he seemed pretty cool. On my next playthrough I went for snivy and then on my third I went for tepig. Oshawott was good for my first choice though, although late game he ended up being a little weak. :< But that was okay because he had a rockin' mustache :D
At fist when i played White, chose Snivy. Then, doing a Nuzlocke, chose Tepig. Then, did another challenge, picked Oshawott. If you ask me it's a matter of feel. If i play and i feel like picking Tepig imma pick Tepig.
My first b/w starter was oshawott because he looks cool when he evolves to dewott
My first was snivy because of my affinity to train grass types aside from dragon types.
I picked Tepig, because I see Oshawott as hideous, and I'm indifferent to Snivy. But something strange with me is that two of each type of starter are my favourites! Squirtle and Totodile, Chimchar and Tepig, and Treecko and Snivy. Also Tepig himself just looks awesome and you can name it SmokyBacon
Wasn't really too fond of any of the 5th gen starters but I'd usually go with Oshawott because it fits my offensive minded play style. I know Tepig has good offense too but it's too slow for me.
I went with Oshawott in Black and Tepig in White. It's been a tradition for me to use the Water and Fire starters.
Squirtle, Chickorita, Treecko, Mudkip, Torchic, Turtwig, Oshawott, Snivy,
Used Charizard before, but from another friends game. All were used in either remakes or one of the versions in their respective series. |
In both Black & White I went with Oshawott. I bought B2W2 twice before buying the originals, so I had tried every starter by then.
Out of the 3, I loved Oshawott the most, and it evolves to even better looking Dewott (many times I choose not to evolve it). I also choose mainly Oshawott's line since I love otters. |
I chose Snivy in Black 2, I haven't played the others.
Chose Oshawott in White and then i picked Tepig in Pokemon White 2. I just like the overall design of Oshawott over Tepig and Snivy. Snivy is my least favorite design wise.
I chose Tepig, then Oshawott. I was never really big on Snivy, honestly. Tepig is my definite favorite. I absolutely love pigs and Emboar just looks so cool! xD
Snivy because it reminded me of myself. :p
I've actually tried them all and I think I'll go for Snivy, I'm particularly fond of its design and evolution, and while I enjoy Ohshawott , Samurott just seems a bit meh, but that's just my opinion. ;)
I chose Oshawott. I thought it was the cutest of the three <3
I subconsciously circulate the starter each generation. First was Bulbasaur, second was Cyndaquil, third was Mudkip, fourth was Turtwig, thus fifth was Tepig. In general it was between Tepig or Oshawott for me though, and I preferred Emboar's design to Samurott's.
I was indeed disappointed by Emboar's typing, though. |
Samurott in White.
Serperior in White 2. In general, it's Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Totodial, Cyndaquil, Treeko, Mudkip, Torchic, Chimchar, Turtwig, Oshawott (for it's evos), Snivy and finally Chespin and Charmander in my recent Y playthrough. |
Oshawott in my White version! Good speed, moves, and attacking stats so I'll definitely use him again for later playthroughs. Tepig had its downfalls; I didn't like his design when evolved and the lack of speed would make things kind of tough. Snivy was adorable but he wasn't as much of an attacker. Oshawott was pretty mixed and really fun to use. :)
I selected Tepig. Not exactly sure why, because shortly after I selected him, I began to prefer Oshawott to Tepig. Oh well, my Emboar's quite strong indeed.
When I first played through White I picked Tepig. I kinda liked it, since it had some nice HP and good attacking stats. Its Defenses were a bit lacking, but still.
And for White 2 it was Oshawott, which I came to like quite a bit more. It gets some neat attacks and I thought Samurott's design was cool. I used it often there. |
I like Oshawott. I wasn't too impressed with the Gen V starters. I normally go with the fire type, but I didn't like Emboar at all. The water types also seem to be great early on, because you normally don't get a good one until late in the game.
Also chose Oshawott in both White and White 2.
In my current restart of White 2, I got a Snivy. I named it after Loki. :P I love Snivy because it's just so cute. <3
On my very first play i chose Oshawott, which was cool. I usually go with the fire type, but having a fire/fighting for the 3rd time in a row made me really upset, so yeah. When i got Black2 i thought i would try out Snivy, and i got so disappointed i boxed him and completed the game without a starter in my team...
I chosen Oshawott in both White & Black 2 because in white i had no problem using him and when i used Tepig i just couldn't do it, always losing and it wasn't good. Now going through Black 2 is easy then my run in White. PS, I don't like grass Pokemon
I've never actually owned Black or White myself, though I reckon there's not much difference in Black 2 and White 2 when it comes to starters. In any case, I have played a bit of BW through downloading a ROM of it (I know :( ), in which playthrough I picked Snivy, since I found it to be the coolest of the 3. I never really played too much of BW though, since I generally don't like to play ROMs, since it for some reason just feels completely different. In any case, I actually really liked using Snivy, but its third stage never really appealed to me, which was what kept me from picking it in BW2. Well, that and the fact that I'd already used it :p
In BW2 I picked a Tepig and named it Pokabu (because I like that name so much more ;D), and I actually don't really know why I picked that one instead of Oshawott. I think it might've been coupled with the fact that I didn't really like the Oshawott line too much either. To my surprise though, I actually came to like it a lot, and it definitely became a valuable part of my team, and I kept throughout the entire game. I honestly think it's one of the starters that left a bigger impact on me, since I honestly hadn't expected much from it, and it turned out to be really great, whereas I usually pick starters because I already know that they're great. So yeah, that was fun :D Guess I still have to try out Oshawott eventually, but that time will come! I did get one off the GTS, with Pokérus even! Though it's not quite the same when it isn't your starting partner, so I never really used it. |
Pyroink Tepig forever and always. Since it's the only one of the three that gains a secondary type, it was only natural that I'd prefer it over the other two. ^_^
Still bitter that they passed over the best English name ever. |
Hmm... I'm not sure why I went with a Oshawott in Black version. None of the Unova starters 'screamed out' to me. Also, I was interested in using many other new Pokemon. However, I am satisfied with using my Water starter. Samurott held his own and he was fun to raise. In White version, I picked Tepig, but I later dropped him around the time he was a Pignite. It's likely the first time I had ditched a starter. I used a Hydreigon throughout the game, silly me, overkilling the story mode. In my second run of White, I picked Snivy, which is alright. I haven't really beat it yet, but she did become a Serperior.

I always chose oshawatt cause sewaddle was there for grass and bug (I don't really prefer snivy). I always caught a darumaka for a fire/fighting(I like tepig but don't prefer him over oshawatt).
I chose Oshawatt in white, because he looked pretty cool and I like water types. I chose snivy in black 2 because after I got over grass types being useless IMO, he was the coolest of the three. Then I found out grass types were pretty good. The only downside to them is that they are much easier to find, especially early game, where as water is rare until the mid/end and fire is rare throughout the whole game.
No matter how many times I restart Black, White, or Black 2, my starter Pokemon is always Oshawott. I like the base form of all three Unova starters, but Samurott is the final form I like the most and find the most useful.
Oshawott of course, I'd love to have a very good Oshawott in standard gameplay.
i chose Snivy! but seriously, i chose it for no other reason than i have a kind of weird obsession with ALWAYS choosing the grass-type starter pokémon with EVERY generation,
Red, Yellow, Leafgreen -bulbasaur Gold,Silver,Crystal - Chikorita Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald -Treecko Diamond, Platinum -turtwig Soulsilver- Chikorita White, Black 2 - Snivy Y - Chespin does anyone else do this? :) |
For BW and BW2 I chose Snivy. I usually choose the fire type as a starter (like quite a few people), but I really didn't like the design of Emboar at the time. This was before I really cared about stats and moves though.
I'm a bit stat geeky when choosing starters, but I choose Oshawott for it's mixed ability and my fond of otters, too. By 2nd, Snivy. Last, Tepig. It's happening in both BW and B2W2.
I choose Oshawott in White and I loved it. Great moveset, and there's not too many good water Pokémon in Unova. When I got White 2 I decided I would switch it up and got Tepig, but I was very disappointed and ended up boxing it for most of the game.
I chose Oshawott in white and white 2.
Tepig in black and black 2....:chu: |
im scrolling through and seeing a lot of oshawotts and snivys, which are solid choices, but honestly? i chose tepig. i cant help but always automatically default to fire.
I chose Snivy in both Black and Black 2; ever since I saw the new starters I knew that he was my favorite. And I think his evolutionary line is very cool. I like Tepig very well too, but I'm not a big fan of his evolutionary line.
I don't like the first evolution sprites for Snivy or Oshawott, so I chose Tepig in Pokemon Black. Not a big fan of Fire starters (twisted fire starters.. Yeaaaaah) turning into Fire-Fight(ers) (See what Game Freak did there?), but Emboar is a really strong slab of bacon when used correctly.
For the used Black 2 I purchased, I restarted the game and chose Snivy. I reset until I got a Nature I thought would be good (Modest), but then it seems that Snivy+ all want to use physical attacks... FML. He still does alright for himself. Running - Leaf Tornado/Return/Bind/Leech Seed at the moment; holding Leftovers. |
I chose Snivy in my first BW playthrough and Tepig in BW2. Oshawott's probably the best in-game, though (unfortunately, it is also the ugliest imo).
I chose Oshawat in Black and Tepig in White. But I picked Snivy when I replayed Pokemon Black Version!
i pick Oshawat ! in BW , in BW2 i'll choose Snivy lol
I decided to use Oshawott in my playthrough of Pokémon White, and Snivy on Pokémon Black.
I chose Snivy all the time and sometimes Oshawott but never Tepig, dun like him so much.
I picked Oshawott in Pokemon White. I picked Oshawott because Samurott has good base attack and special attack.
I only used Tepig in every one of my playthroughs aside from my last one. In my last playthrough, I used Oshawott. Never used Snivy though.
Oshawott <3333 Because he is in water type and he is so cuuute *o* |
When I first played White I choose Oshawott, and on Black I used Snivy. Then I restarted Black and used Tepig, and on White 2 I used Oshawott. I restarted Black again and chose Snivy, and I chose Oshawott on Black 2.
Sooooo, a lot of Oshawott's. Haha. :D |
I'm normally the one who chooses Grass a lot, but for the first time, in Black, I chose the fire Pokemon Tepig. I'm not too sure why I chose it in the first place, something about it appealed to me. Roast pork perhaps? Now I'm spouting gibberish. XD
My starter for white 2 is oshawott (I haven't bought black or white) because in the anime, oshawott reallyb likes ash, and I really like it's personality, though I wish it would have evolved.
My future starter for Pokemon White is probably Tepig because of Broham AKA Marriland's partner in mystery dungeon GTI. It made me choose him in White. |
I picked Tepig for White 2. If I play again or Black I will choose Oshawott. I always choose the fire starter pokemon on my first playthrough as I just love to kill things with fire. :P
I chose Tepig on Pokemon Black and then Oshawott on Pokemon White. I find grass pokemon too weak to have any use for me, sorry grass lovers.
I picked Tepig on my first time playing Pokemon Black. I mean, he evolves into a flaming boar, what other reasons do you need?!
Tbh chikorita was pure fun
I picked snivy in my first run - for some reason I always chose grass starter in my first run except for lg/fr when I always went with either squirtle either charmander xD I loved snivy and it's evolution line so I wasn't disappointed because I picked it! :)
I chosed Oshawott.
Most of the time I begin with the water pokemon. Don't know why thouhg lol |
Snivy because Serperior looks so royal & badass.
In Pokémon Black, the Pokémon I used is Tepig. Tepig's a pretty good starter.
In both White and White 2 I started out with Oshawott. This is because I have a tradition of always starting with the Water type.
I chose Oshawott in White and Snivy in Black 2.
I had my share of starters and i can admit i chose them all but had the most fun with Snivy,Oshawott and then the 3rd Fire\Fighting starter who looked like a fat burning bacon.
I chose Snivy. Just the Smugness of Snivy, Derpiness of Servine, and the Regal Serperior
I chose Oshawott. He's by far the cutest starter I've ever seen. I like Dewott too, but I'm not too big a fan of Samurott. Imo Serperior is the best final stage starter, but I couldn't resist Oshawott's adorable cuteness :3
I chose Oshawott when I played White. My brother had Black and he chose Snivy. I wasn't disappointed with him.
I chose Oshawott for both White and White because it's cute but still awesome in battle. It's never disappointed me. <3
White and White? ^
I chose Snivy or Oshawott. I liked Snivy a lot so yeah. Tepig wasn't bad except I didn't want to use another Fire/Fighting so yea. |
I'm the kind of guy that does research on the Pokemon to make sure that their fully evolved forms look really cool, so I went with Oshawott my first go and then Snivy on my second, still haven't beaten either of those games....
Trying out Oshawott in BW, it's now a Dewott with an Adamant nature. Also, SORRY BUT I HAVE TO DO THIS.

First time around playing Black I chose Snivy because I didn't like the other two starters when I first met them. xP
White I chose Tepig, seeing as I love fire. Then White 2, Oshawott, just for the heck of t. Granted, I still really love Snivy out of all of them. I don't regret picking it first. c: |
For BOTH bw and bw2, I choose Oshawott, because...it's not about Oshawott or Dewott I'm after but...
-hopes no one notices avatar and siggy- I'm TOTALLY crazed for Samurott <3 fallen in love o;? |
I thought they were all awful :( Oshawott and Snivy weren't too bad. Tepig was terribad.
I also picked either Snivy or Oshawott, but never evolved them past Stage 2. |
For Black 1, i chose Oshawott.
For black 2, i chose Snivy |
I originally chose Tepig. I realized how dumb he was, stuffed him in the PC, and hacked in a Mew.
All other times I could, I chose Snivy. |
I really like getting into the story of RPGs so I choose my starters based on the character I'm playing. For Hilda in Black I chose Oshawott and for Nate in White 2 I chose Tepig. Personally, I like Snivy the best so I use it for side games when I can.
In my first playthrough with White I went with Oshawott, my favorite of the three. Then I ended up getting to use an even mixture of all three with challenges and B2/W2.
Admittedly, I bought Pokémon Black just because my sister was buying White. I honestly didn't think the game would appeal to me. I played it, picked my male character, named him Forrest and then chose Snivy. You could say because of my choices the game grew on me and I absolutely adored everything about it afterwards *cough*especiallyn*cough*.
Snivy and it`s evolutions are by far my favorite Gen 5 starter, next to Oshawott and it`s evolutions. |
Oshawott. It's cute, adorable, and sweet just like my current bf.
I chose Snivy because Smugleaf is my boy!
I chose Snivy the first time I played Pokemon White, because I was on a grass starters kick after falling in love with Meganium in Heart Gold. I later regretted that choice though.
When I picked up White 2 I figured I would do better with Oshawott, but ultimately it disappointed me as well, and wound up boxed before the end of that run. I think Tepig is the one that has left the best impression on me so far, as it is quite powerful and has some pretty useful moves to go with it. |
Smugleaf was my baby in fifth gen, I can't lie.
Serperior ended up being what kept my team viable once I hit the elite four, since it walled most of the threats I came up against until that point and kept me afloat. I spent a lot of time trying to fill my pokedex instead of training, so it was my highest level and carried me most of the time. Even if it's not the best choice for a lot of things, Snivy did good by me. :) |
I picked Snivy the first time in White, as he and his evolutions were my favorite available Grass types, and I picked Oshawott in Black. I hate Tepig, design wise, so I never used him. :x
In White, I picked Tepig, and I quite liked him. His moves were nice, and there was a nice variety of move-types. Also, I like how he has a different stat build from the other fire/fighting starters- he actually can take a few hits.
Oshawott I picked in Black. He was good, but I personally preferred Tepig. Nice moves, and it works well in double or triple battles. I can't complain. In Black 2, I picked Snivy. Now, I didn't really like Snivy that much, due to his grass/normal only moveset, so after getting the third gym-badge, I stopped using him completely. I guess I don't have the patience to raise a Snivy. |
I chose Oshawott for my first playthroughs of B/W and B/W2 as I don't use grass-types and I already had a fire-type planned out, which was Darmanitan - a powerhouse of a Pokemon. For my second B/W playthrough, I tried out Tepig to see how it worked. I didn't manage to get it to fully evolve into Emboar though because I lost my save file, but it was great while it lasted.
I chose Oshawott in Black, I believe. It was either that or Snivy since I wasn't really fond of Tepig. I'd chosen Snivy in White 2 though.
in pokemon Black i chose Tepig. well in all the poke versions i play i always have the habit of choosing fire-type.:)
i don't really see why many people hate some pokemon and like some specifically, it's ur battle style that decides the kind of pokemon u should have :) |
I choose Oshawott because I choose water starters most of the time. I have to admit I disliked it in the beginning as I thought it looked kinda ~meh. Then it evolved and woah I really liked Dewott. And ofc when Samurott came to me I just loved it and now I like oshawott XD. And B and B2 were with oshawott.
I originally planned to choose Tepig, but upon seeing their second-stage evolutions, I changed my mind to Oshawott because Dewott was sooo cool! In Black/White 2, I chose Snivy.
On my first playthrough on Pokemon White, I chose Snivy because he looked the coolest of the few. The second time I played I chose Oshawott since I wanted a different experience and didn't really like Tepig. Finally on my third playthrough I got around to Tepig and it turned out to be a shiny.
I chose Oshawott for both my Black and White 2 runs because it looks cute! :3 I didn't really get into the designs of Snivy and Tepig. I never really liked snakes or pigs. I seem to almost always pick the water starters anyway.
