Breeding has become my passion. I got in to it last fall and have hatched lots and lots of eggs. No shinies yet :(

One of my favorite projects is a Psyduck that I bred for a friend of mine. His team is generally made of pokemon that are confused or sleepy. Here's the stats:

Tiny-Hands the Psyduck
Timid Female Lv 1

I'm not that much of an expert when it comes to breeding, unfortunately. In my entire life, I've bred only about six to seven Pokémon. Pidgey would have to be my first; I was trying to hatch one with Adamant nature. Was successful at it, but it took me a very long time, though. :P

Demon Wolf February 19th, 2014 4:44 PM

Welcome lady n gent where life begins nice story nyphadora n yzn

Tek February 22nd, 2014 1:40 PM

I hatched some Trapinch eggs today using PATRIARCH and my German Trapinch. No shinies this time, either. Of the eight Trapinch hatchlings, I kept two that have good IVs/nature and released the rest.

I want to breed a cool bug this weekend too, I'll post the results if I get around to it.

Partner Pokemon: Cyndaquil
Current topic: I've been breeding for good natures and good stats since Emerald. One of my earliest and best Emerald breeds was Cyndaquil, but he had a Bashful nature haha. I also bred an Aerodactyl and Starmie, migrated them to Pearl, and used them to win a local tournament. I've bred for IVs a bit in Pearl, Black, and Y, but since learning RNG abuse and other tricks, I just do that. My goal is to breed a shiny Cyndaquil in a Luxury Ball in Y.

I've been trying to breed a shiny starly with decent iv's from my shiny staraptor(caught in platinum as staravia) and a Japanese ditto. I've also have been trying to breed a shiny Froakie with its HA and a shiny noibat with decent iv's (or atleast a regular Froakie and noibat with decent iv's). No luck yet though.

Partner pokemon: Lotad and Croagunk
Current topic: I started breeding in W2, but I switched to X as soon as I got it, because it's just so much easier to breed Pokemon with good IVs. I breed for IVs, nature and sometimes egg moves, if I want anything specific. I only bred for shiny once before using the Masuda Method, but after 13 full boxes, I decided to take a break. However, I did manage to breed a random Timid, Dry Skin, x/x/31/31/31/31 shiny Helioptile a while ago :)

My most recent breeding spree was for a rain team. My favorites:

Lotad | Modest | Swift Swim | 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 | Giga Drain (egg move)
Croagunk | Adamant | Dry Skin | 31 / 31 / 31 / xx / 31 / 31 | Fake Out, Drain Punch, Quick Guard, Bullet Punch (all egg moves)

Demon Wolf February 23rd, 2014 1:28 PM

Starters are fun, although if we go with kalos starters I'll have to sit it out. I only have heartgold.

Spring is comin up soon (where I live anyway), so maybe we should breed a Grass type or something to commemorate?

Current topic: my favorite pokemon to breed are dragons for sure. They're so cool and strong, even though they take forever to hatch and raise.

Oh yeah, and let's see that shiny vibrava, wolf!

Demon Wolf February 27th, 2014 7:37 AM

k if u don't have kalos starters then post war pokemon u want to breed then illl put next to ur name

In that case I'll go with Mudkip. It's a dual-type starter and I have one in my PC that I got from Steven, so no trading :)

I like that idea! I would prefer to breed some Pumpkaboos or Phantump, considering Ghost is my favorite type and these two are the first Grass/Ghost dual type {:3} But I'm also willing to breed any Grass type as well. I have obtained 616 different Pokemon, so my access to Pokemon is large lol I also own SoulSilver and Black 2 as well as both X and Y n.n Open to request!

Demon Wolf February 27th, 2014 12:59 PM

Sure we can do that after we do the kalos starters the project ends Wednesday n show wat u got but if u do t have x or y breed any starter

Tek February 27th, 2014 3:52 PM

Ok, so are we officially going with the Kalos starters rather than the Trapinch? Looks like everyone's voted.

Breeding projects, hmm? I'm currently trying to get an Iron Fist Male Chimchar, who is Jolly with: Thunderpunch and Fire Punch. I can see the votes are winning on the Kalos starters! I will breed some Luxury Ball Technician Fennekin soon if that's the case ~

Welcome!

That's just like my project, except with Froakie. I've been trying to get a shiny protean Froakie with decent IV's but no luck yet. Hope you can get that Chespin soon though.

@Current topic: So I was pondering a bit on this idea of a Spring-themed breeding project. When I think of spring, I think of flowers, bunnies, and rain. Is there anything else that recalls thoughts of spring? I thought of bugs at first, but summer is when the bugs come out for real haha.

@Sheep: Hey.... You like Chespin, don't you! Lol

@Current project: I'm pretty much done, though I think I may hatch a few more just to see what I get. How is everyone coming along?

Well I feel bad bragging since Wolf is having a hard time, but I'm done with the project and it didn't go half bad. Although if I had spent more time, I would have replaced Ancientpower with Rock Slide via chain breeding.

Anyways, I hatched roughly 30 eggs, 20 of which were between a Ditto and a Mudkip to hatch the mother of the pair. The father was a Corsola, and the paternal grandfather was a Slowking with Curse.

I haven't really been breeding or anything really. I've been busy with personal affairs. The picture above is the best I have. I've been wanting a female HA Froakie for some time now, but most have been coming out as torrent instead of protean (parents are a male HA Greninja and a Japanese ditto.)

Tek March 4th, 2014 8:10 PM

Yeah real life trumps poke breeding for sure. I think it would be good for the projects to be monthly or at least bi-weekly to give enough time.

Agreed. Bi-weekly/monthly would give everyone enough time to breed. (Cause you can't work for 2+ weeks straight without atleast 1-3 days off.)

Demon Wolf March 5th, 2014 5:18 PM

i will have it b monthly starting with the current project cuz i see my co owners made a good point

Mr.LunchboxBear March 5th, 2014 10:16 PM

I'll post pics soon, but I got a Chespin with the Egg Moves Spikes, Defense Curl, and Rollout. Next is breeding for 5/6IV and then continuing until I achieve shiny status lol I'll post the pics tomorrow. I have school three days a week from 6am-3pm, so I'm busy most the week. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the weekends are my Pokemon days. I also recently purchased SoulSilver for nostalgic reasons, so I might do future breeding projects on there and transfer all the way to Y. Anyways, one more thing before I stop ranting. Is taking a picture with a camera the only way to get a screenshot?

Demon Wolf March 6th, 2014 2:51 AM

Just take a pic with your laptop or something but if u have a desk top u might have 2 transfer your photos through

Captain Gizmo March 10th, 2014 5:02 PM

I love breeding! Also, during a battle with my friend, sometimes a few statistics pops up while the other trainer is still choosing their move, and it showed that I hatched over 900 something eggs, haha. Those were probably from all the Fletchling I hatched trying to get a shiny out of them :P

Venitardus March 11th, 2014 5:21 AM

Breeding is the main thing I do after the story. I train a little bit here and there, but most of my hours on my game are spent breeding Pokémon, and nothing really else.

Tek March 11th, 2014 9:54 AM

That's a lot of eggs jz! I think I'm at 350 or so on my HG

I'm thinking about working on mine a bit more. I'd like to get at least a 3V Mudkip, as well as replacing Ancientpower with a physical move.

Here's a question for discussion: what's your preferred breeding method?

I have a box full of Ditto. There's one of every nature, and among them there are several that have one or two perfect IVs. It basically works out so that I can choose between passing any nature or passing a single IV that I need.

I generally use the Ditto to produce the mother of whatever pokemon I'm going for. That way I always get the nature I want for the baby. I'm slowly replacing any Ditto that are not rated 'outstanding' by the judge, which should help make my hatchlings stronger. The Ditto with the right nature doesn't always have the IVs I'm looking for.

Bad Wolf Entity March 13th, 2014 8:11 PM

Hello

Current Topic: My breeding project is to obtain a 5IV shiny technician adamant Scizor. As a result I have plenty of 5IV adamant technician scythers I can give away. They aren’t shiny but they’re competition worthy.

Eevee March 14th, 2014 6:57 AM

Name: Eevee
Partner Pokemon: Shinx!
Answer the current topic:

My current project is to breed the perfect Pokemon and then start EV training them. I have a 6IV Ditto in the daycare that I pair up with whatever parent so that the offspring will have 6IVs. I have a box full of Pokemon that I need to breed for natures.

It look me like, hours to hatch a Mild nature Houndour. xD

Miau March 14th, 2014 12:56 PM

Here's a question for discussion: what's your preferred breeding method?

Well, with the awesome way the Destiny Knot works in gen 6, what I do is gradually replace the parents I'm using with the better offspring, to increase the chances of passing those max IVs.

I guess what's more important is preparing the initial parents. Like Tek, I have a bunch of Ditto with good IVs that I caught myself in the Friend Safari; also a few foreign Ditto from the GTS. I have my Synchronize Ralts, that I use to catch a parent with a specific nature. Using good, bred Pokemon that happen to be in the right egg group or have the right nature works great too, I have my own that I bred from past projects, but also Wonder Trading provides very valuable Pokemon with 4 or 5 max IVs as well, most of them foreign, as many breeders WT all their offspring - I know I do it.

Captain Gizmo March 14th, 2014 1:51 PM

I got a bunch of Ditto with good IV's and each with different nature. So depending on the nature I want on the Pokemon I want to breed, I chose the good Ditto :P

Also the Ditto are all foreign so I got increased chances of shinies^^

That feeling you get when you breed a shiny without actively breeding for shiny. Happened to me once, got a Japanese female Helioptile off Wonder Trade, thought I'd bred one with good IVs for myself, and bam, after a bunch of eggs, shiny Helioptile! Was really glad, especially since he's my first shiny that I bred myself ^^

Tek March 14th, 2014 5:12 PM

There's just something about that Ditto that Pokémon like. It must spit mad game :D

Welcome to the new members Eevee and Bad Wolf! I encourage ya'll to partake in the group breeding project. Currently we are breeding a starter Pokemon from Kalos region, or any other starter if you don't have X/Y. The project ends at the end of the month, which is when we'll all share our results.

Also, if anyone is thinking about a challenge run, might I suggest the breeder-oriented Born and Raised challenge, created by yours truly? Lol it dies in ten days so I'm really hoping someone will take it XD

Venitardus March 15th, 2014 8:14 AM

Welcome everyone that just joined the club! It's great to have you here.

Now to answer the preferred method question;
I prefer to breed a Pokémon from my game with a foreign ditto/Pokémon that I want to breed. Mainly for the higher shiny rate.

Demon Wolf March 15th, 2014 9:43 AM

welcome guys sorry i was slaking on my club i have battle server fever lol

Miau March 21st, 2014 11:27 AM

Since the project is still ongoing and I haven't done any breeding in a while, I'm gonna start on the project if it's not too late. First to decide which Kalos starter to breed; I checked which ones I have from Wonder Trades: half a box of Froakie, a few Fennekin, and one Chespin. We have a winner, definitely gonna show Chespin some love!

Luckily, I have an Impish JAP female with her HA, Bulletproof, so I'm definitely passing that down. She's at lv. 31, so she was probably used for breeding; after a quick check with the Move Reminder lady, apparently she forgot her egg moves: Rollout + Defense Curl. I'm gonna have her remember those, so she can pass them down to the offspring. And since we're talking egg moves, I'll throw in Belly Drum + Synthesis too, and have all 4 moves to be egg moves ^^

Exclamation: Hey.... the mother doesn't pass moves!

Statement: Also, project ends at the end of the month, so you should have enough time. Maybe not enough for a shiny but you never know.

Declaration: Also, if the 6th Gen Move Relearner can retrieve lost egg moves, then I need a 3ds and a 6th Gen game.

Query: Shall we start thinking about what the next project will be?

Admission: I like the Spring-theme idea, but I am also somewhat biased since it was my idea.

Demon Wolf March 21st, 2014 9:09 PM

Spring related n dont b bias tek that not kool

No no, the mother does pass down egg moves in gen 6. I actually did it before, so it's a fact.

I'm not sure if I'll go for shiny, since the JAP female only has 2 perfect IVs and I'll switch her as soon as I get a better one. Then again, considering the starters' gender ratio, that might not happen very soon, so I might end up MMing for a while.

Well, there's the fact that you can remember egg moves and event moves (though only those from gen 6), the Destiny Knot passing down 5 stats from the parents, the mother passing down egg moves and the Poke Ball, the father passing down the HA, the Everstone guarantees passing down the nature, better chances for shinies... Gen 6 is breeders paradise, so if you can, definitely get the game :)

I'm on board with the Spring theme; what would it mean? Do you guys want to leave it to interpretation, or do we set some criteria? Grass-types sounds too broad, maybe limiting it to Grass-types who are in the green color group? I mean, Amoongus doesn't look very vernal, does it? Or like I said, we can just leave it to interpretation.

Tek March 22nd, 2014 3:22 AM

I sort of loosely defined a spring theme earlier as anything relating to flowers, bunnies, and rain. Basically anything that reminds one of spring, or evokes spring-like feelings to be slightly more vague.

Abamasnow is more closely related to winter, but there is the occasional April snowstorm (at least where I live) so that would be justified. Bugs and mushrooms proliferate more heavy in summer, but the process starts in spring, so they would ok.

It's supposed to be a fun thing, so really, as long as you can come up with a halfway decent reason that a pokemon has something to do with spring, I'd say go for it.

Venitardus March 23rd, 2014 6:17 AM

I would have to agree with tek above me. As long as there's a decent reason why a Pokémon is spring related, you should be able to breed it.

As for me for when that event starts, I'll probably be breeding lopunny

Demon Wolf March 23rd, 2014 10:25 AM

Ill breed deerling till may new project starts april 2nd and ends on may 1st

Miau March 23rd, 2014 11:02 AM

Reporting on my Chespin, I have the parents prepared:
  • female JAP Chespin, Impish, Bulletproof, knows Rollout + Defense Curl
  • male Spheal, knows Belly Drum
  • male Seedot, knows Synthesis

The Spheal is bred by myself, from a female Spheal from the Friend Safari and a male Marill with Belly Drum, that I bred a while back. The Seedot, I got him at lv. 1 from WT, and trained him to lv. 20 to learn Synthesis. I can't remember IVs right know, but I'll post them next time.

So flowers, Easter and April showers? Sounds like spring to me, I'll have to think what to breed for next month ^^

Schizii March 23rd, 2014 2:22 PM

Name: Schizii
Partner Pokemon:
Miltank
Scrappy
Careful, Female, Lv. 51
x/x/31/31/31/31

Milotic
Marvel Scale
Bold, Male, Lv. 51
x/x/31/31/31/31

What is your breeding method?
Oh goodness. Hmm... Breeding methods. I don't believe I have one, really. ono
I have a four-IV ditto which I use a lot. Normally I try to find a pokemon that has the two missing IVs [hp and attack] and then just put the two together with a destiny knot.
Then, I just... Hatch eggs. xD If I get an ability I want, I switch that pokemon with the pokemon paired with ditto to get a higher chance. Then, if I get a nature I like + the ability, I make another switch and attach an everstone to that pokemon.
Then it's just well, a series of waiting and patience. ouo

Tek March 24th, 2014 6:35 PM

I did a breeding project for a friend yesterday. He's playing SS and wants to build a Fire-type team. So I bred him a Houndour that could cover his team's type weaknesses!

I used a Lv 47 Houndour from the Safari Zone as the mother, and a Lv 24 Houndour from my Pokéwalker as the father. I leveled the father until he learned Fire Fang and Faint Attack. I was going to replace Fire Fang with Flamethrower, but I accidentally let him evolve too soon, and was running out of time >.< So I taught him Solarbeam via TM and Thunder Fang via Move Relearner, and pressed onwards.

The mother didn't have a useful nature, and neither of them had any perfect IVs. The father had a decent Sp.A IV, so I gave him the Power Band. I really wanted the baby to hatch with Faint Attack, which is why I didn't breed up a different mother.

So after about fifteen eggs or so I ended up with:

Early Bird Houndour
Hasty Female Lv 1
Fire Fang/Thunder Fang/Faint Attack/Solarbeam
Above Average x|x|x|x|x|x

For a quick 1-day project, that's a good Houndour, especially considering that you had to train the parents and prepare their moves carefully before breeding. And a full set of egg moves on bred Pokemon makes it even better :)

Weeeelll I trained one parent lol but still, thanks. Really, with a moveset like that and a Hasty nature, perfect IVs would be overkill... his fire-type team is just to get him through Johto - he isn't planning on using the Houndour competitively.

Demon Wolf March 27th, 2014 1:54 AM

Id use houndour competitively

So the first project concludes. I never did go back and do any more work on my Mudkip, so my earlier result is now my final result.

Brave Male Lv 1
Ancientpower/Curse/Refresh/Mirror Coat

And for the new Spring project, I think I will breed a cheery Sunflora! Or perhaps a speedy Yanmega! Or maybe a Rain-Dancing Azumarill! I guess I really don't know yet...

Same here. My previous picture post is my final result

Miau April 3rd, 2014 9:35 AM

Well, I didn't have the time to breed exactly what I wanted, because I didn't get to hatch a female, so I guess my final result is this:

http://media.pldh.net/items/ball/luxuryball.png Chespin ♂ Lv. 1
OT: Miau
Impish - Bulletproof
xx/31/31/xx/31/31
Growl - Synthesis - Rollout - Defense Curl

Horrible pic:

Maybe I'll breed the one with Belly Drum too someday, but for this month's project, I think I'm gonna breed Togepi, as an Easter Pokemon.

Demon Wolf April 3rd, 2014 5:02 PM

Nice miua here's mine but no pic

3ivs Protean male sorry for no pic I lost x yesterday my luck :-(

Oh and I decided on a pokemon for April's Spring Theme Project. I'm making a Shroomish. The goal is high speed, False Swipe, and Spore. For catching purposes. Also, springtime pollen makes me sneeze, so Spore is particularly appropriate.

So for just a one day thing, I wanted to breed a charmander with beat up and Dragon Dance in its move set, so what I did was breed my charizard (bred and raised in generation 5 w/ beat up, bred it with my charizard (named Charla) from my FireRed to gets female charmander with beat up. Next I evolved it to charmeleon and bred it with my 2nd Tyrantrum and got a charmander with this move set! :) I know it doesn't have its HA but I was trying to for egg moves. (Image below)

Attachment 71524

Edit: I'm also done with my spring/Easter breeding project. I will post a picture tomorrow, but it's a Buneary w/ egg moves: Thunder punch, Fire punch, Ice punch and it's in a love ball. (I don't keep check of iv's)

Tek April 11th, 2014 2:02 PM

I'm confused. The next project will be the same as the current one?

I did have one idea. Next month is May, and 'April showers bring May flowers'. So perhaps breed a flower pokemon?

Demon Wolf April 11th, 2014 2:17 PM
