Favorite Fairy Type~? ♪
Couldn't find this thread either. o:
Which fairy type is your favorite? Since it's the newest type, there aren't too many choices... but they're all so awesome, it's still very difficult to narrow it down (at least for me!). List your #1 favorite, or list several; it's up to you! Try to give reasons too (and remember 4/25 rule). Here's mine: Spoiler:
How about you all? ^w^ |

None of the GenVI fairies really jump out at me as any sort of cool, though Klefki has a lot of potential. My favorites lie in past pokémon that have been retconned. Namely Gardevoir, Azumarill, and Whimsicott. I've always been fond of all three of them, but found flaws in using them. Gardevoir being a poor man's Alakazam, Azumarill just being a little underwhelming statwise, and Whimsicott being overshadowed by Liligant. The new typing makes all three of them feel fresh and new though and make them worth taking a second look at. ^_^ |
Here we go.
#3 Whimiscott: Its a cute little fluffy thing with a happy face whats not to like. #2 Mawile: Its got a cute little happy face again but make it go mega and you have epic deadly tank like attack at your disposal. #1 Gardevoir: Looks awesome, plus half psychic, if you don't like Gardevoir you clearly a bad person haha. |
It's definitely gotta be Togekiss for me. It's got an adorable-looking smile on its face, which just makes you want to hug it. Plus, its body is shaped like cloud, which is pretty cool! When battling, it could be quite an useful Pokémon. With combination of Thunder Wave, Air Slash, and Serene Grace ability, it could be almost impossible to stop. :P
|
I actually like quite a lot of the fairies. Gardevoir, Spritzee, Carbink and Slurpuff mainly for their shiny versions' color schemes, Flabebe because of the design, and Azumarill and Mawile for their competitive prowess.
If I had to choose one though it'd be Mawile. Probably my most-used Mega. |
Why was the Fairy-type even made?
My favourite Fairy-type is Azumarill, as I liked it before the fairy-type was added. I love to use it competitively with its band set or Belly Drum set. It's pretty cute too. |
No Dedenne fans? Dedenne is my favorite, mainly because the XY anime and its design. I haven't used it in the games so I don't have much to say. I used Carbink for my X play through and I liked it but it wasn't anything special. Good defense but that was it.
|
Togetic it's cute and under rated but still can hold it's own in battle
|
In my pokémon X, the only fairy type I used was Xerneas. I love all of the pokémon that were changed to fairy type from earlier games. Mawile used to be one of my favourite pokémon which hasn't changed much, along with the Ralts family. I remember going on pokémon emerald and every single time I would spend half an hour trying to find a Ralts before carrying on. Obviously that was before it was a fairy type, but I still love it.
|
IT'S SO DAMN CUTE. It's cute, fun to use, cute, an interesting typing, cute, and very cute. Honestly there aren't many Fairy-types that really took my interest, they all strike me as quite bland designs for what the type could have been, but Dedenne is easily one of my favourite Pokémon overall so I think he's the clear winner of this typing. |

Thinking them over, my favorite Fairy-type is probably Azumarill. Mostly because of how it changed over the years from its introduction. It started from a pile of trash in GSC to gaining more and more toys to play with in every new generation, until it became absolute fricken boss in XY with the Fairy-typing. It's so much fun to use, and actually resists Dragon and Fire, so it can stand up to White Kyurem and Reshiram and not get blown to February 33rd. But aside from that, it is a well designed rabbit.
|
Azumarill, Gardevoir, and Xerneas were my favourite Fairy-types. I used Azumarill throughout the entire game since getting it and surprisingly was one of my tank-ish Pokemons XD Xerneas, of course, was a late addition, but I loved its design so much that I kept it in my party and levelled it to equal the rest of my party members.

Dragon-types are still overpowered. Poison-type attacks are still rarely seen. Steel was only made more powerful (although it was balanced by Ghost- and Dark- type now hitting it for 1x damage) |

As for the main question, while I liked it even before the inclusion of the Fairy type, I'd go with Azumarill as my favorite. Not only do I really like its design and its shiny form (arguably one of my favorites), but it's been one of my most relied upon Pokemon in Pokemon Y, and even managed to take over for Blastoise as my resident Water (and Fairy) type Pokemon. |
Oh god what do I even do I have so many fave Fairy-types!
But here's the ones I especially love: Azumarill: It got stronger every generation, and Fairy-type is the best thing ever blessed to this blue rabbit (yeah it struggles against dual Grass/Poison-types but its teammates can still handle those) plus it has Huge Power which makes it a strong physical attacker. Mawile: A Pokemon I never loved previously but that Mega Evolution with Huge Power, along with having so many resistances is what finally made Mawile get the love she needed. One of my fave Megas as well! Sylveon: First Fairy-type I used in my main team and also first Eeveelution I ever used. I was so surprised with the strength of this cutie, mine happened to be my first Lv100 in X as well. God I love him so much! Xerneas: My fave 6th Gen legendary, no wonder X had to be my main version here. It even has an ability that boosts its Fairy attacks' power even more, Moonblast is sure to hurt after a Geomancy boost. Whimsicott: Sure she may now be in even more trouble against a Poison-type but she's still cute as heck and an amazing support move user thanks to Prankster. Will always be a fave even with her newfound Fairy traits! Klefki: Again, has a type combo heavy on resistances, plus it's a pretty fun Pokemon to use. Prankster makes Klefki a major annoyance, both in-game and competitively! Florges: I love how its evolution line can have different-colored flowers, but Florges is so beautiful and its Pokemon Amie reactions are among the best. I love the blue one best but they're all beautiful. Diancie: Our newly-revealed event legendary had to get a mention here. She's cute, has a nice-looking design and I love the fanart I've seen and that whole relation to Carbink mystery. |
I really haven't gotten a chance to try any; but based on looks I think Sylveon looks like an awesome Eveelution and I've seen it used in battles and come out strong.
|
Well, out of the 6th Gen Pokes it would have to be Florges for me. I think its a pretty good Pokemon and its whole evolution represents very well what i imagine fairies to be. Out of the "old" Pokemon that got the Fairy type, its #3 Azumarill: Great Pokemon that thanks to Play Rough can be a great threat. #2 Gardevoir: Fits the Fairy type pretty good, nice way to make a already good Pokemon more diverse. And #1 Mawile: Thanks to becoming a Fairy Type and getting a Mega Evo its a way better Pokemon than it used to be and a lot of fun to use.
|
Mime Jr, Mawile, Whimsicott, Wigglytuff and Xerneas come in on top.
Mime Jr is adorbs, and it knows many great moves. Fairy/Psychic is an attractive typing, imo. I don't like Mr Mime as much, but ;) Mawile is perfect as a fairy, somehow. I wouldn't have guessed, but I'm glad it was given the Steel/Fairy dual typing. It opened my eyes to just how cool a pokémon Mawile is. Whimsicott and Wigglytuff are only in this list because they are super cute, tbh. Supercutefairies. Xerneas is one of my new favorite legendaries. It's elegant and I like it much more than the dark Yveltal. |
Easily Mawile for me, it was one of my favourite Hoenn pokemon back when I played Sapphire. However I never had one on my team because it wasn't found in Sapphire, although even if I had Ruby I probably wouldn't have used it since until 5th gen I had a stigma against using pokemon that never evolved.(broken by Sigilyph)
So when the mega evolution for Mawile was revealed I knew it was now or never, so he was in my X team. Even though I didn't get his stone until post game he really held his own in battle making him even more awesome to me. If I had to name two other favourites it would be Togekiss and Flabebe. |
For the new generation easily Florges. It's my favorite Pokemon on my team and I could not stop using it when playing Y. As for "old" fairy pokemon Clefable and Mawile are my other favorites. I loved them before they were fairy type and now I love them even more with their new typings.
|
Probably The legendary pokemon Diancie. That one is pretty cool.
|
It's really hard to decided that now, but I'm really in love with Sylveon at the moment. It's just too cute and I got a Sylveon plush from a friend as a gift and I love it a lot. And Xerneas and Florges. Florges is a combination of strong and very nice design and Xerneas is just a very majestic deer. (I like Yveltal much more though, that's why I picked Y first). But including the ones that were retyped, I'd have to say Mawille , Whimicott and Gardevoir. Mawille and Gradevoir were two of my favorite Pokemon before they were retyped and their Mega Evolution are cool too and just powerful. Gardevoir's retyping made it stronger too since Dark type moves now only do 1X effective instead of 2x effective.
|
I love Azumarril. Kinda confused on why it is fairy type but oh well.
|
Whimsicott hands down. When I found out one of my favorite Pokemon was going to be part fairy I was ecstatic, especially since it'd become more of a threat in battles. But outside that.. Mawile and Floette are other precious 'mons that have a place in my heart.
