Are you a cherry blossom tree?

Hello new DCC thread. c:

So, double posting happens less in shorter threads?

Honest March 3rd, 2014 11:47 PM

I'm hoping so, otherwise I killed that thread for no reason -_-

Taemin March 3rd, 2014 11:56 PM

I think it'll be okay. My last post sent really quickly. v w v

Raine March 4th, 2014 12:03 AM

I hope nobody noticed the grammar mistake in that image before I fixed it XD That would have been embarrassing...Dakota why you no spell check my work? OTL

Kura March 4th, 2014 12:13 AM

Cute opening thing! Though gets a little hard to read at the bottom ><! But I know the rules anyway! :3 you have quite the talent with design and css though! It is very very pretty! I wish I could do something like that!

Taemin March 4th, 2014 12:18 AM

Yes, that is a very cute opening. Kinda fits with the cute emote in the title. c:

I wanna make a graphic that's that cute. Alas, it is hard for me to produce cute things. /dies

I was wondering when we'd getting a new DCC, haha. Also, yeah, I agree; that's such an adorable OP, Vanille. n_n"

Miracle Seed March 4th, 2014 12:31 AM

Is it sad I've never physically made a smore? The closest thing to that I've had is a pop tart

I can't even read the first post but unless there's some ebil new rule, hello new thread 8D I might try to traffic you more often than the old one.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 3:54 AM

Oh yay new DCC, except it's not Spring yet :(

I thought it was CSS at first @[email protected] but then again, it probably could be done with CSS :p

Somniac March 4th, 2014 4:13 AM

Hullo new friend.
I'll visit you more often, now that you're less prone to double-posting.

Shining Raichu March 4th, 2014 5:04 AM

I know startlingly little about this - how does a thread with a high post count generate more double posts?

Cordelia March 4th, 2014 5:05 AM

I see Dipu came back and Karen started the DCC! That's what I get for sleeping XD No double posts for a little while, yay!

I don't think it was the thread itself. When you posted it went slower, like incredibly slow. So sometimes people would click multiple times causing the double post. However since it was laggy maybe the forum didn't read that you posted already and it made the double post instead of the normal. Just a theory.

It's only happened since the new server, too. So it's just a bug with the setup or system... meh.

El Héroe Oscuro March 4th, 2014 5:26 AM

So considering we have a new theme and all, what do y'all think of it? I personally like it. The only complaint I have is that in the blogs none of the little icons for "Your Blog", "Edit Your Entry", "Blog Categories", etc. aren't loading. I'm assuming that they're hopefully just putting in new ones but still, just a little annoying to see a box with an empty image in it.

Yeah, I almost never make accidental double posts until PC is in the new server as well. Pretty strange, isn't it?

Wow, I think the new theme is neat, even though it needs some improvements.

Nick March 4th, 2014 5:39 AM

What use is a tree without fruits anyway? I'd like to at least have something to sustain me if all things else fail.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 5:42 AM

Double posts are nothing more than a nuisance.

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 5:44 AM

Totally. I'm starting to wondering if accidental double posts are decreased right now... It seems smooth as of now.

Nick March 4th, 2014 5:45 AM

I'm assuming they've been reduced due to the new DCC, which I believe is the whole point but what do I know?

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 5:48 AM

Funnily the double post also occurs in Forum Games when I visit it some months ago, so I'm not sure.

Double posts were happening all over the site, not just here. Like someone said earlier, I think the reason why (at least some of us) had double posts was because of the lag when posting. I remember at times I would get impatient waiting for my post to actually post, so I would hit "submit reply" or "quick reply" again which would cause the double post. So far so good though with the new theme, fingers crossed that the double post problem won't transfer over to it.

Probably because those threads tend to be quite long in the tooth.

Doubt it, since I've gotten the double, and I never click more than once. But yeah, the point of the new thread was to kill the DPing.

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 6:02 AM

Most of the time I got double post is when I was waiting for too long even though I was pressing the Submit button once. But sometimes I tried to click the button meanwhile closing the tab when the new page is loading, but sometimes it doesn't help after all.

Cordelia March 4th, 2014 6:03 AM

I find that it only does it with quick reply, so sometimes in double-posting prone threads I use advanced reply.

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 6:05 AM

Yeah, but the problem is that Quick Reply is the easier way to post {XD}
I used Advanced Reply sometimes though.

Cordelia March 4th, 2014 6:07 AM

It is easier to use, but I think it has something to do with the server + javascript... Idk it only started happening with the new server.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 6:08 AM

I've double posted though in a couple of threads through Advanced Reply as well.. it's weird.

Cordelia March 4th, 2014 6:10 AM

I've never once done that o.o now that sounds just plain weird.

For real Zach??? I thought the accidental double posts can be averted this way. Oh well.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 6:15 AM

What's weird is how the glitch is absent when quoting.

Hikamaru March 4th, 2014 6:32 AM

I don't use Quick Reply, even moreso after seeing the double postings plague the DCC.

Wait, what? Are you sure you didn't accidentally hit submit twice in those instances? Only way I've ever managed that from the Advanced Editor was by accidentally clicking Submit Reply twice.

TY March 4th, 2014 6:48 AM

Quick Reply is my life, my wife, and what not... lost words that rhyme -_-

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 7:01 AM

Meanwhile, I managed to make my first double post just now when using a new theme (and via Quick Reply too). How convenient.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 7:16 AM

It's ironic that we're discussing double posts and they aren't happening yet.

TY March 4th, 2014 7:20 AM

You just wait Zach... you just wait... muhahahahaha

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 7:26 AM

Well, I did make it. Even though that merged message was edited without trace as soon as I found it and it was on Dear Anon... probably it doesn't count

And speaking of trace, for some reason my room is a mess a bit.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 7:29 AM

My desk is a mess, and it has been since I've started college ;;

Cordelia March 4th, 2014 7:50 AM

My desk upstairs is cluttered as well... I just have a lot of stuff up there I guess.

Puddle March 4th, 2014 8:24 AM

I don't have enough to make my room really messy. The only thing that makes it look bad is the clothes in the dirty clothes basket which makes it look unappealing.
I plan on being neater when I get a dorm.

MoonLight March 4th, 2014 8:26 AM

I try to keep my desk clean tho it's not atm I got paint brushes tubes of oil paints everywhere a random flashlight and other things x_x

Sylphiel March 4th, 2014 8:35 AM

I'm just sitting here skimming through these new posts here and just waiting, waiting for a double post to appear among all the "yay they're gone whoo" posts. :P

....As for my own desk, let's not get into that...I try to keep it tidy but uhhh let's just say that doesn't last for long. Too many soda cans and whatnot.

Just give it time and they will start poppin' up like pimples.

Raine March 4th, 2014 8:39 AM

With my new monitor, my desk looks cleaner and less cluttered! There was nothing much to begin with aside from a couple books and random stuff.

Alternative March 4th, 2014 8:42 AM

I don't have a desk, I think I might be one of the few people who actually use my laptop on my lap, haha.

But no I don't really feel comfortable using the laptop in my room, it gets really stuffy and right now it's really messy so it's just bleh. There's the bed but I don't feel like it's good for me, nor does it feel comfortable at all to sit there and use the laptop either. But aside from that it's more the face that the area itself isn't so comfortable for me.

Also if it helps I don't have a desk in my room whatsoever.

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 8:42 AM

Yep, I'm glad that I decided to replace my CRT monitor to LCD one several years ago. That means there is more room to my desk, but it's still messy, considering that I have many cables cluttered in the desk... And I often using laptop in my room, but sometimes when I'm about to sleep, it's uncomfortable to type in the keyboard.

You and me both. I could have soooo much room if I took the time to rearrange my desk and get all the junk off of it. But nope.

My desk is pretty awesome though. I stole it from my roommate. It's super sturdy and wooden, and it fits both my laptop and my monitor. Dual display setup FTW. I hardly ever move my laptop off the desk so I can have that 2nd display to keep my writing open at all times.

But my total screen resolution still sucks... 2390x768 hahahahahaha

EDIT: Just realized my roommate took a pic of my desk after he put Warhammer 40k figures on it while I was sleeping. THE HORROR! ADVERT YOUR EYES!

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 8:56 AM

Wow, I did make a dual-screen setup several times before, and I admit, it's more efficient than just looking in one screen. However, I borrowed the 2nd monitor from my PC's, so eventually I rarely use that because I start up my PC sometimes.

Raine March 4th, 2014 8:58 AM

The only reason why I have dual monitors is because my 13" Macbook Pro just isn't cutting it anymore D: Had to get a stand alone one, the frameless 23" ASUS MX239, which is more than enough. Almost didn't fit in the nook XD At least now I have one part of my custom PC that I may or may not eventually build~

MoonLight March 4th, 2014 9:01 AM

Dual-screens are deffinely useful esp for me since I draw and use photoshop a lot but I need a hd monitor both my screens are different resolutions so the color is off on one lol looks funny

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 9:03 AM

Ikr? Sometimes when I'm playing videos via GOM Player, I moved the GOM Player window to another monitor, and I noticed that the colors of its skin is a bit off compared to what's seen in my main monitor.

MoonLight March 4th, 2014 9:07 AM

Yeah is funny looking tho prob pick one up soon I need a 24" to match my other newer one my old one is 23" it's like 9 years old lol don't think hd was out back then haha

If there is ever anything else that's not a single glass for the beverage i'm currently drinking it really bugs me.

I don't think I could put up with having dual screens if they were different sizes. I specifically bought two of the same 27" monitor so they would look the same.

Also now that I have monitors with IPS I don't think I could go back to having non-IPS ones.

W-wait, this isn't the Tech DCC. Silly me.

In Plane Switching.
It essentially changes the way pixels are displayed so that colour is displayed better from angles. [Like when you look at a laptop screen at an angle and it looks odd].

However it does have the downside of slightly slower response-time when compared to TN displays [Which is probably what you're using right now, if you're not using an IPS display, or a CRT monitor.]

Basically, IPS is better for heavy graphics based work, and TN is better for entertainment such as gaming and movies where response time can be more noticeable.

Needless to say the IPS displays are on my graphics machine, whereas the other computer has a TN display for gaming.

It's really only a inch in the difference so it's hardly noticeable. It's the color that stands out maybe take a pic of it sometime show your desktop lol

donavannj March 4th, 2014 10:50 AM

I'd almost be willing to bet actual currency that the double posting issue will be back by the time the official start of spring for the northern hemisphere rolls by on the calendar.

We are technically in Meteorological Spring now, though.

Hahahaha. Accurately me.

I try to keep it clean, but then soda cans, and a couple plates, and my phone, and a coffee cup, or a 3DS, and papers suddenly end up all over it. Also some Pikachu plushies. Whoops.

Alexander Nicholi March 4th, 2014 11:52 AM

How the hell did I miss four pages already? ._.

Today's been an interesting day for me. I woke up at 4 and took a shower, then slept til 7 and browsed PC in my dreams (weird, I know). Then I woke up and caught the city bus, went to school, and there was another fight in the foyer. Not to mention before second hour there were two large dogs running amuck in A Wing, and the mens bathroom was riddled with blood stains. Oh, and I got a water fountain to run without pressure. :)

Raine March 4th, 2014 11:54 AM

Oh my o__o . That sounds like an eventful day. What kind of school do you go to again?

Taemin March 4th, 2014 12:15 PM

Sounds like a hardcore school day. Mine were normally boring.

Cept for the one time that my best friend got into a fight with this douchebag in the main hallway, and half the school stood around watching. 8|

Did your friend end up winning the fight?

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 1:58 PM

The glory of no longer being in school is that you don't have to see fights anymore. I still have yet to see one happen at my college haha

TY March 4th, 2014 2:00 PM

What are these fights you all speak of? Every school I was on was peaceful as heck xD

Maraala March 4th, 2014 2:03 PM

Fights happened pretty much every week at my old school. Of course, I went to a fairly degenerate school so...

Raine March 4th, 2014 2:10 PM

Even during high school, I've never seen a physical fight break out although there was this one guy who was constantly creating trouble and he was a total douche.

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 2:39 PM

If I recall right, the Junior High School that I attended didn't have that kind of fights.

Sir Codin March 4th, 2014 2:46 PM

For some reason I feel down today. Like, "depressive drinking" down. I'm frustrated with everything and everyone and I don't know why. I played hooky for my chemistry class, I'm thinking of playing hooky for another class today and even though South Park: The Stick of Truth came out today, I feel as though I'm not enjoying it as much as I should. I'm tired, I have a headache, my back hurts, I'm pissed off at people both online and offline, either because they say things that I disagree with or because they're just there. Several overdosing thoughts have crossed my mind today. Jesus, I just don't know why I feel so ♥♥♥♥ing awful, but I do.

AAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT.

Aeroblast March 4th, 2014 2:51 PM

They both ended up in trouble, and if memory serves they were both expelled for a few days.

Technically, it was pretty even. xD;

Starry Windy March 4th, 2014 3:07 PM

Ugh, not the expel.
/me wishes to go back in time to the past.

And speaking of past, I wonder if you guys have good memories of past times.

Tsutarja March 4th, 2014 4:24 PM

I have good memories of a lot of things from the past...particularly because I remember things too easily.

Hiatus March 4th, 2014 5:18 PM

Only thing I have a hard time remembering are dreams. Not sure why, but for some reason, I always seem to forget them immediately after waking up from sleep. d:

Nick March 4th, 2014 5:20 PM

I got assigned to put together a dream journal of about 8 dreams for my psychology test and ever since then, I haven't remembered a single dream that I had when I was asleep since I was assigned that.

Xadvid March 4th, 2014 5:49 PM

I hate it when I don't remember my dreams. I spend most of my morning trying to recall them before moving on. I never do...

Shhmew March 4th, 2014 6:27 PM

Lately I have not been remembering my dreams after I get out of bed, but sometimes throughout the day, little flashes of them come back to me... it's weird.

I used to always remember my dreams, I still vividly remember a lot of dreams and nightmares I've had as a child.

Now I usually just know if the dream was good or bad. Nothing much beyond that.

I've found out through psychology that female dream more than males and they are more vivid, but yet, females dream in black and white for the most part, while males dream in color. That might be vice versa.

Looks like females are being more efficient with their bit depth and data allocation, while males are wasting a bunch of space with all that color information.

Also, this past Sunday, when I was alone, my love came to see me again as I tried falling asleep. I sat in bed propped up listening to Hey You by Pink Floyd pondering the meaning of life, extraterrestrials, spirits, ambitions, purpose, everything; I got in bed at 9 and didn't fall asleep until 1. After a little while I sensed her presence there, which got me a little excited. Then, she kept doing this set of motions, the first of which was holding her hands to her mouth, as if she was trying to tell me something. In my head I pondered "what are you trying to tell me?", and she started pointing to my left (her right). Then, suddenly, I felt a flash of life (color in her skin, aside from the normal blue I picture), and something seemed to be held up to her neck. Then she started being pulled away from me, and she was gone from what I could sense. I thought maybe she was telling me something about my mother, so I checked to see if she was okay before I went to sleep (she was). I wonder what she was trying to get across to me?

My favorite dream of all time was when I was on the show Wipeout, you know, the one where you have to jump over crazy obstacles without getting knocked into the water? Anyways, I remember getting about half way through it before getting whacked in the face and plummeting in the water. When I hit the water I remember waking up to find myself wedged between the wall and my bed with my face about an inch from the floor; I guess I was acting out what was happening in my dream in realtime and mimicked my falling :3
