Lessons learned from anime/manga

What are some things you've learned from watching anime/manga? Feel free to include inspirational quotes.

TwilightBlade March 9th, 2014 9:11 PM

- Don't beg for things. Do things yourself, or else you won't get anything.
- Happiness is like glass; it may be all around you, yet be invisible, but if you change your perspective of viewing it a little, then it will reflect light more beautiful than any other object around you.
- There is no such thing as a painless lesson.
- The world is not perfect, but it is there for us, trying the best it can. That's what makes it so beautiful.
- Believe in yourself, not in the you who believes in me. Not the me who believes in you. Believe in the you who believes in yourself.
- The fact that you are embarrassed by the values of the masses only proves how small you are.
- Don't form a contract with a cute looking cat.
- Don't leave things in the fridge.
- People die when they are killed.

- People need to live their life with a clear conscience. When you walk on a straight path, sometimes you might get yourself stained with mud. However, as long as you never give up, one day the mud will dry up and fall off.
- You yourself have to change first or nothing will change for you.
- Manga endings might always end the same. However, when it comes to life, neither you nor I are the readers. We are the writers. We can change the ending.
- Honest feelings can sometimes lead to cruel endings.
- If you have time to think of a beautiful end, then try living beautifully till the end.

Oh wow, all I can think of rn is TTGL quotes. It has a bunch of really nice inspirational ones! I'll cut out the major spoilery ones:
"Don't believe in yourself! Believe in me! Believe in the Kamina who believes in you!"

"Do the impossible and kick reason to the curb!"

"The tomorrow we're trying to reach is not the tomorrow you've chosen for us! It's the tomorrow that we chose for ourselves, out of all the infinite universes. We'll fight our way through; we'll keep fighting and protect the universe!"

"There are times when a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Sometime, somewhere, maybe here, maybe there.. you might come across a golden opportunity. Whether you live or die is up to your ability!"

"We evolve beyond the person that we were a minute before. Little by little we advance with each turn. That's how a drill works!"

Also I remember this one from Madoka:
"Calling yourself useless and meaningless... Don't treat yourself like you don't matter!"

I probably could find more but a lot of shounen anime especially have a lot of life-lesson delivery speeches.

Ahaha, I know right? All of the ones in my post are spoken by one guy, Sakata Gintoki, from Gintama. So many anime and so many inspirational quotes.

Not exactly what this thread about, but I actually learned some new stuff about boxing that my coaches didn't teach me thanks to Hajime no Ippo.

Although there is a quote that particularly sticked with me from the same anime.

"There's a difference between someone who is trying to become the best, and [someone] who is trying to beat the best."
Gave me a whole new perspective on things. Only quote I could think of that made me feel this way though.

Why? I would form all the contracts if I got a Kyubey for that =D
And being Mahou Shoujo would be a nice bonus xD

The sad part is, I think before episode 3-4 I felt just like Madoka and definitely would have become a magical girl >.>

I thought of some more :3
- "Moving on doesn't mean you forget about things. It just means you have to accept what happened and continue living"
- "Being alive is a sign of strength"
- Just because you cry it doesn't mean you are weak
- You shouldn't change yourself to fit in
- Work for forgiveness, don't just ask for it
- You can't do anything if you don't even try
- Running away really won't solve anything

don't make the same mistake I did But it's fun being a mahou shoujo. :(

My signature's quote puts it pretty well, kindness sometimes leads to even greater tragedy. It's not good to be too nice, sometimes.

- There is always a way to improve one self
- As long as you have good nakama, things will turn out ok
- Just because things seem hopeless, doesnt mean you should give up hope
- All good things must end eventually

What true friendship is, never give up until the bitter end, keep going despite your fears, and that people can be really complex, can't be so quick to judge them. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting 2 out of 4 of those lessons because life can be so overwhelming sometimes.

derozio March 29th, 2014 2:36 AM

- Let your sister eat you.

Pupa is so amazing when it comes to lessons, omg. *__*

Never putting on my nicest shirt. Ever.
