Pokestick, good times. December 26th, 2014 11:17 AM

The G3 records video in 4K, but the screen does not have that resolution. To my knowledge it's 1440p.

I watch anime in 1536p on my Nexus 9, but all it's really doing is make it even more obvious how low-res most anime is.

donavannj December 26th, 2014 11:29 AM

351. Email and web browsing, primarily. Plus maybe some WiFi hotspot, and other features as desired, like streaming music to my car's audio system. It'd be primarily a work phone that happens to be replacing my personal one, which is used as all of the above save for a WiFi hotspot. Might occasionally need to remotely access stuff from it.

Akiba December 26th, 2014 11:35 AM

352.

I've had the G2 for a year or so, I think, at 1080p, It's already gotten to the point where the display is already dense enough. Webdev is a pain for high resolution screens that can't keep up in size.

@don and machomuu
Upscaling isn't really that bad, either. I can guarantee that virtual 1080p on 4K looks much better than 1080p on 1080p (On a 1080p sized screen). I think there was even an SO thread about this.
Spoiler:
But that's because my OS allows me to do that. Too bad for those of you who are victims of Microsoft.

machomuu December 26th, 2014 11:38 AM

352

Actually, Windows supports internal resolution downsampling and high internal resolutions. I've recently started doing it for my games thanks to GeDoSaTo, though I've yet to do it for my system as a whole.

One day, though.

Is the anime section always so barren? It reminds me of DLTMS0 on a bad day.

This topic actually came up in the J/E DCC pretty recently. My opinion was that a dedish anime section with a few acceptable members is still much better than an active one full of underage gaylords like MAL.

You got a Nexus 9? Congrats. I've been using mine since it came out and I've actually adjusted to the screen size.

I love the processor speed and video quality though. But the battery charge time sucks ass.

Speaking of another part of the forum, is that troll advisory really necessary? Since I don't really explore the forum and only go to three sections nowadays (none of them Pokemon), I can't really confirm this. But I couldn't help but scratch my head when Sotomura himself addressed the issue.

Weeaboo Name December 26th, 2014 5:48 PM

I took it that post was ironic and it was Hiroshi Sotomura trolling the board by adding ridiculous rules.

Seriously though I don't read enough of the board to know how serious the problem is.

donavannj December 26th, 2014 5:48 PM

366. There have been several instances where people were deliberately biting on obvious troll threads with the intent to rile the troll over the past few months.

machomuu December 26th, 2014 5:52 PM

Wow.

368

You'd think by 2014 on Pokecommunity something like that wouldn't be a problem.

My brother gifted me Kodansha's 1st English omnibus of that.

It's tempting me to read it even though I already own and have read all 14 Tokyopop volumes.

... oh hey, they call it Todai in this print. I'm pretty sure they actually fully Anglicized it in the Tokyopop volumes. I may have to read and collect the omnibuses for it now.

... whoops. I guess I know where all of my leisure money will be going now.

One volume read, fourteen to go. Was five years since I watched the show, but I can tell some things are completely different. My feels, however, are not.

machomuu December 26th, 2014 7:44 PM

380

Love Hina was that show back in my early days of anime that I knew about but never actually watched. Well, before my early days, really; it was considered a classic by the time I'd learned what anime was (so a couple years). Became popular enough to be a model for later harems (for the next few years, at the very least), or at least something for others to compete against.

Still haven't watched it. I did semi-recently play an Adventure game adaptation for the GBA that was translated not too long ago. It wasn't bad, surprisingly. You would be surprised with how much this game managed to put on a cart, though.

384. That one was quite catchy. Almost made up for how terrible that season was. Not that season one was that great.

As for better haremmuk anime OPs:
3. Love Hina OP (Sakura Saku)
2. Negima! OP (Happy☆Material)
1. Negima!? OP (1000% Sparking). Also was good fun in English.

This may just be confirmation bias on my part, though, given that these two series are in my all-time top 5 for manga series.

Idol type stuff can be pretty obnoxious so you would be right in assuming it isn't really my thing. Nana Mizuki is a bit of an exception to the rule, I've been listening to her long before really getting into anime.

You know, I never got why people labeled Shinji as the b!tchest of b!tches. I mean, I get he's the wimp character that's thrown a horribly fate or heavy duty out of the blue, but...what he's being asked to do is suicide, and he's not really given much reason why he has to do it other than that daddy wills it and the other girl can't. Really, he's not given much of a choice, either, and Gendo knows that it's highly unlikely that he'll refuse because of the circumstances, but all things considered Shinji should have died in the first fight (and almost did).

But paired with Yukiteru Amano who has a guardian at his beck and call and the same for the main from Deadman Wonderland (another character whose bitchiness I feel is warranted considered the circumstances behind why he became one), Shinji doesn't really deserve all this hate.

Just the first and second movies. I'm waiting for the third to get dubbed before watching it, and I've been planning to finish the show (Which I've been stalled on episode 3 of for a few years) to get that ending.

Though I did read up to volume 3 of the manga when I was...I'd say 10 years younger than I am. Read it, got to a page where Shinji sees Rei's nips, and realized that I probably shouldn't have been reading that. It's ironic, because I later started reading Ranma 1/2 no problem, though I can't say if it was around the same time. And I watched Burn-Up and its sequel probably a year earlier, so ¯\_(‘~`)_/¯
