Just shouldnt say anything :3 |
637.
Lapmon's okay with more than half of it, and indifferent to the rest. That's already pretty good. |
638
Huh. Well I couldn't say, myself. I very sparsely hand out 10 out of 10s to things. On MAL I only have 3: Garzey's Wing, Working with Voice, and Summer Wars, and two of those are jokes, for the most part. |
639

640.
You might as well give Hametsu no Mars a 10/10. You should see how many sevens I gave. |
637
I would argue 10/10 scores and 5/5 stars aren't the same. Even if you can have halves in the 5/5 score, like in Hummingbird's case, which would make it technically identical to 10/10. For example, 3/5 is a higher score than 6/10. This might sound weird, but it is as far as I know psychological. It depends on how you process the meaning of the score in your head. Especially since 5/5 scores are often represented visually much more than 10/10 scores, which are more often than not entirely numerical. I won't rate them because scores don't mean that much anyway, and going meta would have it make even less sense. Some of your shows I heavily disagree with, some I'm happy you liked. |
642
Just act like im not here ill be in the corner.... |

Of course you're here. (It's kind of hard to break the conversation in this thread though.) Quote:

645
Would you say the difference between a 1/10 show and a 5/10 show is larger, smaller or the same as the difference between a 5/10 show and a 10/10 show? |
646
Oops |
647.
Depends on what you mean by larger. Arithmetically... yes. Logarithmically, no. |
648
Primarily, your personal associations. So... emotionally? |
649.
Of course, it's a measure of emotion. But a mathematical trend can't be emotional. |
650
I would say 5/5 and 10/10 are the same. Maybe not 3/5 and 5/10, since 3/5's are generally considered good to some extent while 5/10 is considered mediocre, but 5/5 and 10/10 are the cream of the crop, you can't really go above them. That said, I think it goes without saying that what the scores mean are subjective. It's that way with any number scale, really. Or any grading system. |
651.
The ratings are of course entirely subject to personal opinion. It isn't just a matter of how good the show is, but the feeling invoked in the audience. Guilty Crown, for example. General opinion is that it's a very bad show. While I agree that the show was poorly done to an extent, I still hold a special feeling for it because of the emotional experience that it gave me. In any case, a 2.5/5 is the same as a 5/10 for me. Same for any other crazy fraction scheme you might come up with. You could say that I'm mathematically inclined to feel as such. |
652
Are you experienced with working with numbers? It would definitely make a lot of sense if the difference in subjectivity of different score systems had to do with how one's brain handles numbers. Myself, my mind works very visually (numbers and letters have designated colours, I solve math problems using geometric visualisations (had lots of problems when math assignments asked me to write down how I solved equations), et cetera. There are probably words for these things but I'm not good at remembering words), so that could definitely cause me to view things differently. Even such a supposedly set-in-stone thing as numbers. I remember watching a Totalbiscuit video where he made a point about different scales in video game review scores, though I can't recall which one. That man has a lot of very similar video game journalism videos. |
653.
I guess going to a Math/Science/Comp Sci magnet school helps. |
654
I feel like I'm the only one who reads and enjoys fanfiction more than anime I blame not having television growing up; or at least not anime I am a bookworm |
655.
There's so much corroborating fanfiction for 2hu that it's essentially canon. |
656....

What is the best choice for the day of work and the other day and night and day out of the Backburner My phone is funny with its words |

|
658
That is a hell of a lot of 10s, and tabs. Whilst most of it isn't horrible you should really expand your anime horizons past shows that aired in the last 4 years. Does liking fanfiction make you a bookworm though, personally thought it just made you weird. |
659
|
660.
I did watch shows from before the last 4 years. A lot of shows. I just didn't give many of them high scores. |
Quote:
After all, a good number of people here didn't get into anime when they were young. I'm pretty much the minority, there. And, hell, I have an aversion to network television. Other than anime, I rarely watch TV. |
662.
Oh. I also didn't keep track of a lot of them, because I watched them so long ago. Subtract 2000 from the year and you pretty much have my age. |
663
Tbh you have much better taste than I did at your age. |
664
Finally a supporter! |
665
At 15 I didn't really watch anime so I can't make that comparison. Think I must have been 17, but even then it didn't become my main form of entertainment until 2009-10. My earliest favs list on MAL. http://i.imgur.com/SiBkQUT.png |
667.
Ugh. I don't want this number. Skipped. |
666
Wow. Cruel. |
668.
You could have just done 668. |
669
But then we would have skipped 666. |
670.
@Lap Of course Rin got you hooked. I basically stopped watching from eight to ten, picked up at Angel Beats when I was eleven. Then I had my middle school watching craze, and it's died down since then. |
671
Don't just ignore this; I want to know what you have against the number 666? |
672.
It's not a very nice number. |
673
It might not even really the number of the beast, as far as I know it's a common misinterpretation of early biblical texts. |
674
It's not. 6 represents imperfection, and 7, perfection. This is why 7 is regarded as a lucky number, and 6 is (less so) regarded as unlucky. There's also 66 and 77 which are...hm...can't really remember. But if I recall, 666 and 777 symbolize complete imperfection and perfection, respectively. |
675
Clearly the people who thought of that never heard about 6666 and 7777. |
674
Blood+ was the show that really got me hooked, of all things. |
677
Was casually into manga for a long time, I think the first anime I watched properly was Love Hina on YouTube. In a big way, I got into a lot of anime through early Abridged Series. |
Little do we know, 4 was the number hated most of all.
678 It was Orphen for me. A mediocre show about a guy trying to save his dragon girlfriend. It wasn't that good, but I was young at the time and was pretty interested in this "new thing called anime". Well, I shouldn't say that was it, but it was part of the reason- it's how I found out anime was a thing. But I did watch legitimately good shows back then. Azumanga Daioh, the amazing dub that is Those Who Hunt Elves, possibly Angelic Layer, Kare Kano...it was a good time. There was a lot of crap, too, but at the time I didn't really care. |
678
First manga was Battle Royale. Appears I got my edgy phase over and done with pretty quickly. |
679
It was Dragon Ball for me. I'd been following Z for years and Dragon Ball semi-recently (since it aired years later). Went to my library and found out manga was a thing when someone put a volume in the wrong section. I didn't follow the manga, though. For a while, I didn't know there were others in the library like it. |
679
5th of September 2010, the date I first got into long running shounenshit. Thanks Bleach. |
680
Oh yeah, Dragon Ball and to a lesser extent One Piece were really popular when I was nine or so. Everybody had those books. Never got into them myself surprisingly. I managed to dodge Naruto during my teen years as well. Then came Bleach and fucked me over. |
681.
I started watching bootlegged Bleach when I was like, six. Stopped at 150. And it was in double Japanese/Chinese dub. You couldn't hear anything. |
682
|
683
Sounds wonderful. |
684.
It certainly wasn't. |
685
I missed out on streaming stuff on youtube and watching terrible illegal, off the back of a van, videos. Have however watched some awful subs from Chinese sources. |
686.
HS provides decent videos, and I get free subs to share with friends. It's all good now. |
Quote:
I suppose if you don't mind them being unchaptered and without proper encoding. Only thing Crunchy are actually good for is speed. There are actually people that pay for that service, awful. |
Encoding I get.
Chapters? That's for people who skip OPs and EDs. Lazy. |
687
Spoiler:
|
688.
I was happy that Commie had Steins;Gate as their backdrop for a while. |
689
It is a sad state of affairs when Commie are actually one of the better groups still going. Well, I say still going. I believe they edit Crunchy scripts for the most part now. I bet they loves S;G. All the epic memes. |
690. I'll settle for commercial-free, HD Crunchyroll subs I can pull up anywhere I have an internet connection.
|
691
Suppose it could be worse. Still, paying for anime streaming is weird. Nana's character song from the new Narudo film a cute. |
692
Technically a better deal than buying DVDs, if you watch enough. And you don't have to pay extra for BR in order to go above 420p. As long as you manage to avoid the comment sections and the forum it doesn't seem that bad. Still, I'm of the stern belief that what we need is a Steam for anime. With centralised downloads, holiday sales and all. |
693
There is nothing wrong with 6, 66, or 666 It's just a number |
694.
Or you can just HS/Commie/StillNotVivid. Spoiler:

I can't even. I bet those old Brit kids who will "watch the entire library" think they're tough stuff. Quote:

I suddenly feel immense pity for the world. What the frick is loli futa scat. "How do I become Japanese." "Sex reassignment surgery." |

Google it. Also going back to that Kiba conversation the other day, turns out the woman he was with was in the manga previously. http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Tamaki |

I decided to take a look at our entire lineup, all of the obvious ones are there but a few caught me off guard. Kite Liberator, I'm pretty sure this was the sequel to a hentai about a pedo cop that used his schoolgirl to kill other pedos. I could be wrong though as it has been years. Also, calm down. http://i.imgur.com/NpNWWeC.png Terrible end to a pretty great Homeland season. This is why I should stick to anime. |

Heh... Hm, found another Mewtwo fanfic where the author uses the Japanese names for some characters Amber Fuji becomes Aiko, Giovanni becomes Sakaki Most Pokémon keep their English names though Amber doesn't die and becomes Mewtwo's mate, shenanigans follow While not as deep as Angelic Shadows, The Mewtwo File is still a good story |

If you don't know or can't piece it together from the words involved, you're better off than those of us who can piece it together from the words involved and would be better served staying in the dark. If only they'd get rid of Ash and make the anime focus on a player character's journey through the region Honestly, Origins was the way the anime should be portrayed |
711
I would probably help market the games. |
712
^_^ |
713
Or at least have an Ash NPC with his team from that anime season in the game ...what was his team during Hoenn? Although, given the fact Ash sometimes doesn't evolve his team, he would probably be a cakewalk ...oh wait, he is |
714
^^ |
715
Oh gods. Never mix canons. |
Indeed.

Check your privilege? On the Internet? |
719
If you have access to the internet, check your damn privilege. Also The Demonic Adventures of Favaro-kun was good. |
720
I thought it started well but then the boring plot started moving. Eye dropped it. This cold is killing me, not so much the feeling groggy and sore throat but my shoulders and abdominals are killing from constant coughing. Horrible. |
721
Clearly this means we need to rip out your brain and transplant it to a new body |
722
Sounds like a plan. |
723
...what does Oekaki mean? |
724
Something along the lines of 'to draw a picture', I believe. |
725
Ahh I like how WiseAbsol doesn't jump right into explicit sexual relationship scenes; he spends time allowing the characters to get to know each other to the point the union is sweet ...wow, I imagine Mewtwo making out with a woman and I go "D'awwww" What does that say about me |
726
Fanfiction master race, everyone. |
727
Stop it, you're making me blush Aaaaad that was my 2500th post |
|
729
Put that away, Lappy - I'm starting to think WiseAbsol has a licking fetish, because he loves describing a woman's scent and taste when she gets licked...hehe Just licking over skin, not...elsewhere... |
730
Well then. |
