They're taking it slow. No ass this week, just backstory. Though there was nurse raep. Anyways what anime downloader you use? I can't use torrents when I go back, but I should be able to use a downloader that doesn't upload stuff. As for Quality, 720p is more than enough for me. With a 15 inch screen you can't really tell much difference between that and 1080p. |
DomDom Anime Downloader
67 Generally I wouldn't like something seemingly shady, especially since it costs money for unlimited downloads (though there is a free version). But I tried it out once, loved it to death, and the price was cheap enough for someone like me to come back to. Plus, I believe they recently added a lifetime version for it. It's one of those obscure downloaders that you don't think much of until you use it, but it's pretty damn fantastic. It's faster than torrenting and the anime it has come in rather quickly (it has a gigantic selection and seasonal anime are uploaded within the day). So yeah, I'd recommend it. |
68
But Netnet, 1080p looks goddamn wonderful on the 7" screen of a nexus 7. I guess it depends a lot on the resolution of said screen. :P |
68
And how the video player handles downscaling when it isn't native. |
70
That, too. |
71
I know. I use a Crunchyroll on my Nexus 7 too. Too bad the free trial ends today. |
72
I should get the wifi working here so I can stream on a tablet. |
73
Seeing a lot of lightning but not hearing the thunder is pretty spooky. Seems a pretty impressive storm is on it's way. |
74
We had the complete opposite situation over here. |
75.
Official Mahouka Episode 16 Summary: "Tats is op af" |
75
Starting to hear thunder now, about 15 - 20 seconds after the lightning. Storm would be 3 - 4 miles away if my memory serves me correctly. Lovely. |

I like how Episode II of SAO II reused animations from SAO's early episodes where What's-her-face with the Dragon Pina almost gets tentacle raped by the same monster again... |
79
Don't forget the totally necessary tentacle fanservice. Also this game series holds up pretty well after all these years: Still a fave. Ivan is <3 |
80
I mean, GBA wasn't that long ago. RPGs from that era are pretty modern. Heck, most games from then are. |
81
ITT - Games I've never played and anime I've dropped. Alienated. |
82
True, but I'm surprised that there's not as many people who played it as I'd hoped. Its fine if you drop stuff. How about some American Comedy like the Colbert Report? |
Quote:
Oh. |
84
Golden Sun's a pretty big cult game, but cult nonetheless. As for Colbert, he's pretty funny. I don't watch him, really, but in the times that my dorm roomate would have him on it'd be pretty funny. Not one for political comedians because they're basically just masking their political rants behind laughs, but if I had to watch Colbert, I probably wouldn't mind. |
85
Haven't watched Colbert in a long, long time. I remember that I didn't realise he was making fun of republicans the first time I saw it, so from my little perspective he just looked like a total knob. :P |
86
This game has some of the prettiest summons on the DS. :D I usually watch the news and spoofs when I shoot aliens from outer space. |
87
Colbert plays to his audience very well. He isn't funny though. |
88
Eh, I'd say so. Him being a nerd helps, too. Still not interested enough to say "Oh, Colbert Report's on!", though. Or even watch out of being forced. |
89
To me it's a really amusing idea but I'm not really that fond of it. Not a big fan of his jokes, which is what it mostly comes down to. The Daily Show, on the other hand, I quite enjoy. Though it's essentially the leftist equivalence of Fox news. |
90.
Well, watch it now. http://thecolbertreport.cc.com/videos/fig5ri/herman-cain-s-avant-garde-pac-ad Also. |
91
Don't really watch TV anymore, myself. Only currently airing cable shows I watch are Adventure Time and Korra. And Parks and Rec. But other than that, I'm pretty much a "Download and Watch" man, and that's generally with anime. Though I'll probably watch Little Battlers eXperience when it comes to America in (supposedly) August. If the dub's bad, I'll watch for comedy. If it's good, I'll legit watch. But either way, we'll get the game if it does well (which, considering the anime on that channel, it will), and that's enough for me. |
92
So is it supposed to be a mystery who Death Gun is? Because this adaptation sure isn't doing a very good job at that. ...Unless it's a bait and switch. In that case, bravo. |
93.
Quote:
Is it posture? Concentration? Dedication? |
94
Watch a good mystery show instead, Pokey. Also as for satirical looks at news and so on I'll stick with Mock the Week. |
94
Well, in comedy mode I'll probably have popcorn, avoid drinking something in case of fits of laughter, and I'll be bracing myself for the storm of terribleness because I'll know that they butchered a great piece of work. In legit mode I just watch. |
95.
I see. Thank you for teaching me your ways, master. Also A/Z Episode 3 had a satisfying ending. |
97
Why are they having their bangs under the visor. That makes no sense, it's like they're consciously trying to limit their field of vision. Also I swear these two are twins or something. Harassment nurse was fun, however. c: Quote:
|
98
SAO doesn't have to explain that to you. SAO doesn't have to tell you anything. |
99.
Zetsuen no Tempest, Pokey? |
^ Didn't watch that when it aired. But might now.
100 I do approve of Shino's delicious choice of casual wear. Wait. The mysterious person who is Death Gun in the last part of the episode literally uses his IRL name for his video streaming account. Wow. |
101
You don't? |
102
My Byakugan told me that Zetsuen no Tempest would suck too. |
103
I'm not ridiculing the character for using his IRL name. :P The thing is that the show just visibly told us who he big mysterious bad guy is. We, the audience, now know who the bad guy is, and Kirito hasn't even entered the game yet. Then again, who knows, might still be twists awaiting. Sorry Netto. |
104
That makes sense, but I was completely joking. Don't use your IRL name for video streams, kids. You're already giving them A/V, so finding you will be a snap. Also, your name isn't catchy, it won't net you viewers and people will likely forget about you. Don't even try. |
105
What if you have a really catchy name? Like Bob Dole. Or Jesse Cox. Or Kiragaya Kazuto. |
106
Well, if you were named Bob Dole, people might watch you for the novelty of watching a guy named Bob Dole do non-Bob Dole related things. If you're name was Jesse Cox, I would assume that many people would tune in, only to be disappointed and leave. If your name is Kirigaya Kazuto and you happen to be white, you'll be known as "That Weeaboo Channel". Which might actually net you some views. |
107
As it turns out, Jesse Cox has over half a million subscribers, earned by playing video games and making lewd jokes while chuckling to himself. I love it. Also Spoiler:

We've talked about a lot of crappy shows Let's talk about a show that isn't so bad then. |

Why not talk about something better, like cute girls doing cute things? Actually I'd rather talk about it in the official thread than cluttering this thread with SAO talk :P |
Something that we unanimously think is not so bad?
Hm...how about Mirai Ni- Nope, can't even do it. Not even as a joke. 112 |
Quote:
Every Saturday night, we all get together and talk really cynically about SAO. So we hate the show but still sort of love it. It's a recurring theme. ...Even if it might ruin you mentally. Actually, if you die an early death, it's most likely our fault. Also, pff, this thread, having any kind of quality standard? For the record, I'm a-OK with the slow pace they've got going right now. It's refreshing. Heck, if this wasn't SAO I'd think it was quirky and interesting. |

And then the ending. Like, did they change management in the last few episodes? What was going on in their minds? |
Quote:
...I guess there would be, it'd make a lot of sense. Must suck to have really liked the books only to see a huge negative backlash when the adaptation comes, though. |
117
Meh, I already had my lurker phase in pre -2007. Its boring watching a show and not even talking about it with people who also watched it. I remember watching stuff like Cardcaptor Sakura or Yakitate Japan and not being able to talk about it with anyone...that's even worse, apathy is worse than hate imo. |
119.
Quote:

@Pokey - Nah, just the one. But it was a general warning, so I'm referring to pretty much any forum/comment/stream thread related to it.
Quote:
Most of the show I didn't like because the mains (Yuki and Yuno) got their way, despite not deserving it and there being nothing to balance it out. That and I hate Yuki and every single decision he makes. With a passion. Gasai, too, but not nearly as much as Yuki. He sits at the top of my "most hated anime character" list. And I don't hate too many things. |
121
@ArenaNetto Agreed, talking with others about stuff you're watching is almost half the fun. Which is one of the reasons it's really difficult for me to stop watching weekly shows. If I stop I'll miss all the Spoiler:
|
122.
We started talking about cr*ppy anime again. Steins;Gate? |
123
I actually don't talk about the stuff I watch that often. Heck, I probably talk about anime more with you guys than I do with anyone else. @Sync - We can talk about S;G as long as Laptrap's not here. But not sure if that counts as unanimous. |
123
I swear, 34, 69 and 123 seem to be my most common numbers XD |
124
Do you have a significant other to share the love? YakiJ was great. Love the comedy. Too bad the series ended when I picked it up so the community was dead. Sucks getting into something and finding the community gone lol. Well 4chan is the one place I significantly avoid. The mindless cynicism kills brain cells. |
126
I liked steins gate. I liked madoka. Heck, '11 was a great anime year for me. So sue me. :P ...I associate that one short samurai guy in log horizon almost entirely with you Netto, which is intriguing. It's like you're inside my animay. As a lurker of 4chan, yes, it really does. Really hard to get out of the mindset afterwards. |

Keiran famously really dislikes steins;gate. And many other things. But that doesn't make us love him less, mind. |
127
He didn't like it in the end. Which convinced me that Lappy has really unique tastes that's hard to emulate. As for Log Hora, yeah, Soujirou Seta is my favorite character there, then its Nureha for the twisted personalities. Yep, the Internet warped my sensibilities. |
Ah, I remember the wall of text rants he would have whenever I brought it up. Good times.
130 BTW, how's Kokoro Connect? Been thinking of picking it up for a while. |
131
Quote:
It's a love-hate relationship also. It's just that the series became so popular that it had its share of hype backlash. What I truly lament is the lack of discussion on the issues it raises. Everyone focuses on the "horrible story writing" and "harem" stuff and keeps avoiding the bigger issues it raises. Its what drew me back into the VRMMO/FRPG genre anyways. I'm biased to Kokoro Connect because of the sub-genre. Don't ask me about it. |

134
I guess that's where we diverge. While some don't like the story, I was perfectly fine with how it was presented novel wise. As I mentioned before the adaptation to me was severely lacking in characterization, hence people cannot empathize with the characters. Anyways, I really have seen this all too frequently already and I just shrug over it nowadays. As for people watching something they hate...that always worries me. I mean if you hate it, why keep talking about it? It just raises publicity. If you don't like it, wouldn't it be better for people to not find out about it in the first place? |
Quote:
All I'm saying is that unless you go to places that are specifically for SAO (stream comments, dedicated sites, etc.) or wait until a few years after the show ends, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. And it clearly bothers you, both by how you keep bringing it up and how you talk about it. I know your pain all too well, but I think that if you keep visiting that thread that you have here, on a forum with a bunch of anime fans that have mixed feelings about the show, you're just making it worse for yourself. Quote:
Among other reasons. |
136
Well I'm not going to stop talking about it just because it hurts my sensitivities. If I don't learn to address something like fiction, how can I handle something more deeply embedded in society, issues like abortion, welfare and economy? These are topics that are not engaged with in a rational fashion, but are instead governed all too well by emotions. Anyways I'm just read it because I am hoping that these next few arcs would be received better, considering that the writing somewhat addresses some of the concerns of the past season. |
137
Well, I think there's a difference between talking about something that's important and something that you love. For instance, you all know how much I love Inazuma Eleven. If IE were in the position that SAO is for you, I'd certainly deal with it worse than a discussion about...say, welfare because one of those two things is important but I don't really care about them. And even if you do, you're definitely not as passionate about one as you are the other. |
138
Well I think its time to introduce another side of me. :P I am going to University for Political Science after all. |
139
oh. Oh. OH. That explains SOOOOOOOO much. I'd always wondered why you were so interested in Socio-Political matters. It all makes sense now. In that case, I guess both would be something you have a passion about. In which case, I'd say that this is a good stepping stone for you. All I can say is that you should try not to get too defensive. People are going to be set in their ways, especially if their reasons for their opinions are flimsy (and even moreso when they're anime fans). But personally, I rarely go to the anime forum. Being from GBAtemp, I know exactly where I need to go to see cynics and negativity, and pretty much any anime forum is a hive for that (nothing against the members) I used to be really bad with dealing with negativity (something that GBAtemp made me realize, which is why I can identify with you. I'm sure what you feel now and what I did then are mostly the same), but I mostly got over it (through the same site). Still, not a fan of negativity, so I try to stay away from said hives of cynicism. |
140
I do tend to do that with politics nowadays. As in know that people do hold their beliefs even more closely if something attacks their world view. Though apparently the defensiveness transferred to anime instead. I'm trying my best to learn how to cope with it anyways. So don't worry too much. But by now the defensiveness over SAO is a psychological reflex, its been 2 years of just people hitting on it so eh. Though sometimes I feel all of this venting and defensiveness is just me releasing stress from other issues. There's a lot of things going on that would probably break others. |
141
I don't like discussing anime because I get annoyed when I express an opinion and people disagree to the point of telling me my opinion is wrong. Also I'm a bit anxious about my tastes and haven't gotten to the "screw you I like what I like" stage in anything so when I talk about my tastes I get nervous about being judged for them. |
142. I got solicited for a poll in person by the Republican Party of Minnesota today. Humored them. Told them Net Neutrality was my biggest issue at the moment. Basically implied the Republican Party was a no-go zone for me.
Anime discussions are too involved for my lazy memory that only remembers things when a trigger is mentioned. Quote:

Nah, it wasn't that sort of manga. Simplified it is just a story about a girl finding herself. It's by the guy that did Aku no Hana if you've seen/read that. I haven't yet but from what I know about it seems to contain similar Spoiler:
I quite like his artwork, will get to the longer series later on. |
