I assume we all agree that these two were the best thing in DRRR.

Pokestick, good times. December 25th, 2014 4:35 PM

We did try it in English to begin with to be fair, but as soon as the little girl in the prologue bit started talking he let out a "NOPE" and switched audio tracks.

Would be fun to hear English speakers say "Jacuzzi Splot" though. Must seem silly.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 4:36 PM

Well scientist was voiced by Yuri Low, so that instantly gave him points. But yeah. Dullaqt was great, and I particularly loved her relationship with with Shizuo. Or the relationships between all the characters, really. The defined, less than black and white relationships did do a good deal for my enjoyment of the show.

Seriously? Wow, he must be a purist. Her lines are pretty well voiced, I'd say. She sounds mature yet young and unassuming, which is pretty much her character. And she doesn't sound forced like kids in animated features can tend to. Regardless, though, she's far from cringeworthy.

303. I am at a crossroads here: Do I continue marathoning Trigun? I've got 19 episodes to go, then I'd be watching Badlands Rumble. At least, whenever I finished it, that is.

Alternatively, do I switch over to a sports game to run a team?

Or do I open up Crunchyroll and pick up watching Naruto/One Piece wherever I left off?

There's also the wildcard option of spending all these PS Store/eShop/Live Marketplace/Steam cards I have. But that'd require finding a game I want to buy.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 4:48 PM

As much as I enjoy the frivolous spending of money on games (and, if you have Steam cards, head over here because we love you), I say go Trigun and finish it. I'm pretty sure you haven't even gotten to the meat of it yet.

On that note, I recommend you watch Badlands Rumble before you finish the show, mostly because it takes place before the end of the show, and also because...well, I can't say more, but after a certain other main is introduced, it's safe to watch.

.

What do you mean by this? Fantasy football or football manager?

Anyway, best bet is probably 1piss.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 5:04 PM

Ew.

309

If it's between One Piece and buying games, I say buy games. At least you'll feel like you did something rather than trekking through an endless sea.

I mean, I like One Piece and all, but you'll at least get something out of games or Trigun. Or hell, even Naruto to some extent.

>caring about endgame with shows like One Piece and not simply enjoying the ride

Hell, even with Naruto most of my enjoyment was along the way.

Not new to Steam sales, but I have a specific set of games I'm interested in at the moment. Crusader Kings 2 is probably not on sale in the price range of the Steam card I have.

Will I need to finish half of it before watching it?

Not fantasy football, and probably not football manager. I'd be playing the relatively stripped down ones found in console versions of sports games. It'd probably be NBA 2K13, MLB The Show 12, or NHL 15.

But too late, already kicked up Naruto. Might only watch an episode of that, though.

311.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 5:12 PM

@Laptrap - That's not what I said. Enjoying the ride is pretty much your only option with those shows, after all.

312

Halfway? Hm...just about. That's a safe point to do it, though a few episodes before will work, too.

Akiba December 25th, 2014 5:21 PM

313.

Oh yeah.

I think I should actually get around to watching SnK now.

Spoiler:
I didn't appreciate the hype

machomuu December 25th, 2014 5:25 PM

314

Best to wait the hype out on things like that.

Overhype just naturally creates disinterest and disdain in a lot of people, often inexplicably so, even in those that are good at going into things without expectations.

Never could get into manager mode on fifa, closest I got was master league on PES but I couldn't use that as a substitude for a dedicated management sim. Maybe they have better modes than Fifa or I'm just picky.

Titans anime is bad, manga is less bad but still not worth the few minutes of reading every now and then.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 5:54 PM

316

The anime was great. Eren's the best protagonist since Kirito.

Weeaboo Name December 25th, 2014 6:07 PM

Man, I might not like his manga very much but he never lets you down with his holiday pic releases on twitter. https://twitter.com/hiro_mashima/status/547725938985664512/photo/1

Eren is an acceptable protagonist imo, although the anime warps him a fair bit.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 6:10 PM

317

I don't mind him in the manga.

In the anime, though, he's Dark Haired Brooding Fate of the Universe Hero that I don't much care for. Though, really, I think putting him on Kirito's level in either case is a bit extreme.

Weeaboo Name December 25th, 2014 6:29 PM

All this Kirito hate, you sound jealous.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 6:35 PM

Eheheh.

I'd rather die than have someone as bland as Asuna as a wife. I might even like her less than I like Kirito.

Most of them I wouldn't want, really. Possibly best ass, but I haven't seen SAOII yet, so I can't really judge.

Akiba December 25th, 2014 7:05 PM

323.

Spoiler:
Watch out for Netto the Destroyer

Of course. Who would want anybody but a Touhoe. I've contemplated for eh, four years? I still have only a top three.

Weeaboo Name December 25th, 2014 7:05 PM

324

She looks good though, supposedly, that's a plus.

Entire cast were cold and sterile, just like the art. Not for me, even though I like plenty of bland mc harempoop.

Akiba December 25th, 2014 7:14 PM

325.

"Supposedly" being key.

machomuu December 25th, 2014 7:18 PM

Really, I hope Netto enjoys his Christmas, I really do, but it boils my blood when I see Asuna voted as best female character (especially when people give the argument that "she's revolutionary because she presents a strong female model for later anime females to follow" despite the fact that the only thing she does is push a guy with her sword and is then relegated to housewife and later damsel) or Kirito as best male (because he apparently just is, no reason needed).

326

I know the polls don't mean much, but when I see characters as bland and just plain mediocre as those two loved so much, I just see evidence time and again that a good deal of anime fans (especially in Japan) see waifu/husbando material as the same thing as good three-dimensional character (especially since these polls often have hundreds upon thousands of voters). Not just there, either, it oozes through a lot of things (especially if you look at the most popular anime at any given time).
