It doesn't even have to be while drawing for lefties. My hands would get covered in graphite from just writing as a lefty.

WHAT. WHAT DO YOU. YOU'LL HAVE TO BE MORE CLEAR MACHO.

I watched a bit of the dub though, and I do like the writing. It's sassy. And I hope that sweet-ass music returns in Tri.

Even I have that problem Don, and I'm not even a lefty 8D

Now I'm really tempted to get this game.

Don't.

Not saying it's a bad game or anything, just that they recently announced that they're making an enhanced..version? Port? Remake?

Regardless, it's the same game, but better. I'd wait for more info.

Well I was hoping to play it over Spring break but...any recommendations on turn based JRPG's that have good stories on Steam?

Hm...sadly, save for the Final Fantasy titles there really aren't that many traditional TBJRPGs on Steam.

506

But, as for slightly more unconventional ones, there's Valkyria Chronicles, which is a lot of fun, and Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1, which is also quite fun and rather addictive. They're both Turn-Based, though in terms of story, the latter is more humorous (and hilariously so) while the former is militaristic and serious, for the most part.

Yukari March 17th, 2015 2:42 PM

507

But Final Fantasy is a solid option imo.

Netto Azure March 17th, 2015 2:52 PM

508

I have...FF 1-4, 6-7 so... yeah. I should look for a copy of FF5 I guess.

Pokestick, good times. March 17th, 2015 2:52 PM

509

Oh, it's that game. Possibly the most JRPGy JRPG I've ever seen but not played.

Dunno, I haven't played many rpgs on PC. I do know they fairly recently added that one X-Com-y/Fire Emblem-y turn based strategy gamemajig with the war and the stuff, though.
Valkyria Chronicles, that's the one. Never played.

For its price Cthulhu Saves the World is neat, though it's pretty much a parody and I believe it's made in the west. Disgusting gaijins.

machomuu March 17th, 2015 3:15 PM

I'd recommend the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, then.

510

We were talking about this recently in the Video Games DCC, but the games are rather enjoyable. The music's fantastic (and I'd say the battle theme for this XIII specifically is the best in the series), the battle system is surprisingly fun, among other things. I'd recommend it, especially if you can ignore the criticism.

And Lightning Returns. Oohohoh, Lightning Returns. I eagerly await the day that that game comes to Steam.

Yukari March 17th, 2015 3:16 PM

T-that's not nice. ;~;

machomuu March 17th, 2015 3:25 PM

512

Funny thing, FF never really was super generic as a JRPG. Each game has its own identity- different characters, different story, different mechanics- you never feel like you're playing the same game. FF1 isn't FF2 isn't FF3 isn't FF13. And, similarly, it doesn't really have various tropes and the like that are in more generic titles.

Also, FF is very good a writing well-designed females. It's a pretty progressive series.

Yukari March 17th, 2015 3:45 PM

It's one of the things I love about the series really.

513

Netto Azure March 17th, 2015 5:35 PM

514

Yeah, was looking at the info for the Legend of Heroes remake and it seems to be an HD port to the Vita...if it was to the 3DS I'd wait but yeah...

As for XIII, I spoiled myself with LP's and the wiki LOL. But the story is great. :O

machomuu March 17th, 2015 5:46 PM

515

Well considering the original was a PSP port and it just recently came to the PC, I wouldn't write off a port of the HD port. That said, I'm not gonna try to stop you, as I've only heard good things about the game.

That said, I'd recommend getting it from here since it's not currently on sale.

Netto Azure March 17th, 2015 7:44 PM

516

I should probably ask you for where to get sales on games when I plan on buying one lol.

Twilight-kun March 17th, 2015 8:37 PM

517

Lightning Returns?

Don't you mean Fan Service: The Game?

machomuu March 17th, 2015 10:40 PM

More like Fanservice: The DLC.

518

The actual game itself doesn't have much fanservice- unless you mean sexually, but even then it's pretty sparse and still only in the way of (a few) outfits.

Twilight-kun March 18th, 2015 6:27 AM

519

Fair enough

Yukari March 18th, 2015 6:45 AM

I remember someone talking about how Lightning Returns is proof that the series has died.

Sonata March 18th, 2015 7:03 AM

521

I wouldn't say that it means the series has died......but there was a whole mechanic dedicated to making the boobs jigglier.

I'm glad that I didn't buy it when it first came out is about all I can say.

I don't see why breast physics are damning, it's not like they were ridiculous or anything- hell, I've played the game for several hours and didn't know they were there (really, I still don't, in retrospect). And considering FFX-2 was actually Fanservice: the Game (but was also incredibly open and actually was quite fun) and FFXII prominently featured scantily clad bunny women, I think Lightning Returns is vastly more tame. The lewdest thing it has is Chocolina, and she's from XIII-2.

I pre-ordered the game, saw the reviews were really divided, and tried to cancel. It was too late, and I was expecting to have wasted my $60 dollars, but I didn't. So many new ideas and the combat was fun as hell- no part of me regrets buying that game at full-price, it's easily my favorite of the trilogy.

Just because someone said LR is proof that FF is dead doesn't mean it is. People have said that about all of the FFXIII titles. and FFXII. and FFXI. Heck, even going as far back as FFVII. I still disagree on that front- I just wish people would understand that a series trying out new things and changing is healthy. It prevents stagnation and makes things more interesting in the long run.

And boy, do people not like change.

On a completely unrelated note, this is happening in Europe:

Reeeeeeally hope that comes to America. That and Robotics;Notes (but I dream).

Yukari March 18th, 2015 8:57 AM

I sure don't think it's proof that the series is dead. And, really, I don't think that the series is "Dead" either.

Also, if that comes to America I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

523

donavannj March 18th, 2015 10:14 AM

524. Maybe I'll get Lightning Returns eventually.

What's the Steins;Gate game about? Not familiar with the series at all, so I'm not sure which came first.

machomuu March 18th, 2015 10:25 AM

525

Steins;Gate is a Visual Novel (turned anime) about a club of scientists (not club in the high school sense, more like a small team of eccentric adults) as they delve into the mysteries of time travel and ultimately get caught up in a game of playing God and screwing with world lines (basically, a linearist idea that states there is only one timeline, but by changing the past, the "world" itself moves to that possibility rather than creating a new timeline altogether).

It's a fun show/game, and I'd recommend either the anime or the game. Personally, I'd say the game's better, but if you don't have the patience or time for the VN, the anime's pretty good.
