Favorite Pokemon to use in-game

What Pokemon do you use most often in-game whenever possible?

Flushed March 18th, 2014 3:47 PM

Staraptor. Absolutely wrecks everything with decent coverage and stats, usurping all the usual first route birds. Not to mention Intimidate and Reckless are actually good abilities.

Treecko March 18th, 2014 4:50 PM

Umbreon and Ampharos tie for me. I've used Ampharos in Gold many times , HeartGold and Black 2 and it hasn't let me down. Mareep are hard to train, but it's worth training one everytime for me cause it becomes really strong. It hasn't let me down so far. Umbreon is my favorite Eeveelution so everytime I can get one, I will and train it at night.

Puddle March 18th, 2014 4:52 PM

Probably Altaria. I've played Emerald so many times and it's always my go-to Pokemon. Can Sweep Drake pretty easily.

Hikamaru March 18th, 2014 5:30 PM

For some reason, I always seem to use a Roserade on my team, as done in Platinum, Black 2 and X. Pretty sweet special attacker, and in X is my resident Fairy killer.

Hiatus March 18th, 2014 5:53 PM

Togekiss would definitely have to be one of them. Mine was originally from Platinum, which I later transferred to Black and then Black 2. Now, it's in my Y version. It's IV bred, EV-trained, and knows Air Slash, Thunder Wave, Roost, and Nasty Plot. Plus, it's got Serene Grace ability, which boosts the chance of its Air Slash flinching effect. It's great; I love it. n_n"

Well, seems awkward to answer to my own question (face yourself?), but I use Zangoose quite often. It has passable Attack and Speed stats and a good movepool. Immunity ability is a bonus in-game as well because status is always annoying.

Zorogami March 19th, 2014 1:31 AM

Probably Flygon, ive used one several times playing RSE and when i first played Black2.
I just love his design, so adorable, and i like his typing a lot. I know Garchomp is way better, but Flygon is still my prefered choice

Always got to have my Togetic in my party sense FireRed

KostK2Boss March 19th, 2014 4:10 AM

Lately, Gardevoir has emerged as my go-to Pokemon for any new playthroughs. She takes a little while to evolve to her final form, but once she does she's a total powerhouse. Also, she has Synchronize, which is useful for the many post-game legendaries, as well as AI that likes to spam status moves.
For the same reasons, I also like using Musharna in the Gen 5 games.

Iceshadow3317 March 19th, 2014 6:19 AM

Krookodile and Braviary. Ever since I first saw them with the 5th Gen. I have had to have them in my team. Krookodile I use too much, but Braviary, I have not used in the 6th Gen.

Tox March 19th, 2014 4:11 PM

I always consider my Pidgeot the captain of my team. Not necessarily the species, but a particular one that I've had since FireRed. Of course, that's only really when I play as myself.

Species-wise though, I'm always particularly drawn to Jumpluff as my grass-type.

Gyarados. This blue serpent here always manages to find himself on a place on my team for every Gen. However, it's always a different Gyarados with a different name. But, that's not to say that I have forgotten the other Gyarados'. I actually have 4 different Gyarados (not including my Gen 6 Gyarados) I have used in my past playthroughs sitting in a box on my Y file.

Lil MuDkiP849 March 19th, 2014 4:41 PM

Close between Infernape and Swampert, hmm. I'd probably say Infernape as he essentially outspeeds nearly everything in-game and demolishes while doing so.

Miracle Seed March 19th, 2014 4:43 PM

Arbok. My speedy and sneaky snake is a tough contender, getting the leg up on it's opponent without having any legsAYYYYOOOO and it's my favorite pokemon~

PumpJack March 19th, 2014 4:46 PM

Pinsir and Steelix have tended to be on my main team since Blue/Gold.

Gardevoir has proven pretty useful- and I ended up using Gigalith and Golurk plenty in White.

For X, Hawlucha proved to be one of the best guys on my team.

Firox March 19th, 2014 8:07 PM

Watchog (level 100) never leaves my team, not even for instant, not just because it's my #1 favorite, but usually can take down every wild Pokemon I encounter, knows four attacks from four different types.

TheKantoKid March 19th, 2014 9:23 PM

My favorite that always is on my team? Charizard and Heracross whenever I get one. Those two have been with me through thick and thin in gen 3 and 4.

I've used a crobat in all of my first-time playthroughs of every game since Crystal and anyone that knows me knows that it's the closest thing to a signature pokémon I've got. I've got about 15 in my Pokébank from all of the ones I've transferred from older games and the ones I've bred for competitive play. XD

classiccartoonsftw March 20th, 2014 12:45 PM

For me, anything with good stats, good moves, and important type matchups is fun to use in-game.

Sydian March 20th, 2014 1:12 PM

I had a long streak of always using Umbreon when I played GSC, and it carried into HGSS as well. It's my favorite Pokemon, so I guess it's natural! I also love using Petilil (or Lilligant, since I don't always evolve Petilil haha), Altaria, and Blaziken. They're all up in my top five for a reason, I suppose lol. I just don't get tired of using them. :)

Just out of curiosity, did you obtain those Gyarados as a Magikarp?

Yup. The moment I'm given the Old Rod, I'm off to fish for a Magikarp. The only instance where I didn't get Magikarp first, was for HG/SS due to the Red Gyarados.
