I use my entire hand, just like I was taught at school. When I'm about to type anything, my hands just instinctively go on the entire keyboard.

Typing I'm sort of in between fast and slow, around 35 to 45 (the faster the more mistakes I make) words a minute. I do tend to make lots of spelling mistakes (not just punctuation, but certain words too), so in PC I tend to use the edit button a lot.

edit: I just remember, the only time I use two fingers is when I need to use an ALT-character and don't want to bother switching between languages, especially between English and Spanish.

Khoshi April 7th, 2014 4:11 PM

I type with 2 fingers, with my thumb on the space bar. I've averaged around 55-60 WPM with my 2 indexes :p I make a moderate amount of errors though, so I have to backspace often. I also don't have to look at the keyboard.

edit: I have an 80 WPM

I type with my hands on home row, and don't ever have to look down. I type too quickly. My keyboarding teacher let me teach the class once. It didn't end well. I type so fast sometimes my keyboard doesn't recognize that I even hit a key. Either that or I type faster than my brain can process.

Hiatus April 7th, 2014 4:29 PM

I'm very familiar with my keyboard's layout, so in most cases, I don't have to look at all when typing. :] I type with both my hands and all my fingers, and try to finish whatever I'm writing as fast as I possibly can. I do make typos here and there, but I fix them when they catch my eye.

Cordelia April 7th, 2014 4:32 PM

I type with the majority of my fingers but I actually think I shift my fingers and don't use my pinkies at all. I am watching myself type right now and I've only used my pinky to hit the shift key. My left thumb hovers over the space bar and my right thumb does nothing. So I guess I type with nine fingers? My right pinky hits enter and in the rare case right shift. :D

Fernbutter April 7th, 2014 5:11 PM

If anything I type pretty fast and I don't look at my keyboard unless really necessary, but it takes awhile to learn, and to be able to actually perfect it, but I still glance at my keyboard every once in awhile just to be sure, it helps.

Sirfetch’d April 7th, 2014 7:17 PM

I type with all 8 fingers haha. Some people find it a bit unusual but it's just how i've adapted to typing over the years and it's made me into a much faster typer overall!

PinkOmnimon April 7th, 2014 7:58 PM

Depends what I'm doing and who I'm talking to when I type. If I'm stuffing my face or talking to someone I don't care for I'll just use my right hand and tap the keys with whichever finger feels like tapping something.

Cherrim April 7th, 2014 11:31 PM

I mainly use home row. I don't do it correctly, since I don't really use my pinky fingers all that much and if I type for too long without stopping, sometimes I don't go back to homerow properly and I'll start to mess up my letters but... for the most part I'm pretty good. I'm the fastest typist of anyone I know IRL and my speed is usually around 110 wpm when I test it. When old people (ie, parents or their friends) are in the room while I'm typing it usually freaks them out but no one else has really cared or noticed in years.

I'm content with how quickly I type but I wish my accuracy was a little better. I have to go back and correct way more often than I'm comfortable with. :(

LOL i don't even know what proper typing is! I started by typing with only one hand but now i use a hand and a half, which means i use my right hand to type most of the stuff and my left end to pick up the pieces like putting e\s\y at the end of words and using the space key etc. I also type very very fast and know exactly what i want to write so im focused on the mission. I type relatively loud but if i need to keep quiet i use one hand

Zorogami April 8th, 2014 1:23 AM

I would say type medium fast, most of the time with 4 fingers.
Normally i look at the screen, but i do look down from time to time

Aslan April 8th, 2014 2:13 AM

I use one finger from both hands. The other fingers just rest on the keyboard while I type away. Trying to type with all of my fingers feels really weird. I'm a pretty fast typer though, at least that's what a lot of my classmates have commented on. XD

Kikaito plush April 8th, 2014 4:11 AM

I type with one finger with makes me a slow typist

Belldandy April 8th, 2014 5:45 AM

I use both hands and pretty much all of my fingers except my thumbs lol I don't look at the keyboard either while typing; no need.

I get a lot of comments at work about how fast I type in comparison to them lol

Nick April 8th, 2014 12:59 PM

I touch type. If I look at the keyboard while I'm typing, I slow down and start to mess up.

My hands always return to home row, so I think I type properly.

Sableye~ April 8th, 2014 4:40 PM

I look at the keyboard while I'm preparing to type something, then after that, I just watch the screen and fix any typos as I go. I know where each key is, but only when I'm actually typing. I don't need to see the keyboard, and I can feel when I've mistyped something, even if I'm not watching the screen/keyboard. I never learned how to type "properly"...this is just from having far too much practice. I:

I remember being timed once to find out how quickly I type, but it was a while back, and I can't remember what it was. Apparently it was pretty impressive, though.

Edit:
I just now seen Mac's post and realized that I type similarly to the way he described. I don't use my thumbs at all, though.

mikey April 8th, 2014 4:51 PM

I type really fast. I don't even look at the keyboard when I type. I use both hands when I type, using two or three fingers on both hands to reach certain keys.

AuroraBeam April 8th, 2014 5:10 PM

I type with all of my fingers except my pinky I believe. I guess I use it sometimes but I don't think often, and I type pretty fast and don't have to look at the keyboard unless I'm typing numbers. I used to have to look at the keyboard but I've been typing so much for so long that I don't need to look any more lol. I've tried just using two fingers and it is just way too slow. I get frustrated with how slow it is, haha.

I have an odd manner of typing, mostly a result of forgetting the so-called "proper" form, and getting into programming. I always look at the keyboard, but would still be regarded as a fast typer (although typos are commonplace). Rather than take the time to use the shift key for capitalization, I use caps lock. Call me crazy, but it saves me a lot of time.

As for my phone, I primarily use only my right thumb. Typing with two fingers, even on my large smartphone, is out of the question.

Constant programming caused you to forget the "proper" typing form? I would assume it would be the opposite because I'm just getting into programming languages myself, and I'm still typing the same way as I did before: not bothering to look at the keyboard. Could be a result of me being a beginner, but I like keeping a constant lookout on potential mistakes in the coding that could screw the entire program up.

Not at all. I simply forgot because I was lazy, and truth be told, I was never very good at typing without looking at the keyboard in the first place. My constant use of caps lock is a result of programming.

Poki April 10th, 2014 11:54 AM

I type in all sorts of ways, honestly. No particular typing style.

greenking13 April 15th, 2014 7:49 PM

I am something like you rainbow, I usually type with only two fingers, although I do use my pinkie quite of often to backspace, and other fingers for etc. 50WPM! (I know, slow to those who can do 90WPM, but I had the third highest type speed in my typing class. Stupid guy with 82WPM. :( )

Imperator161 April 15th, 2014 7:54 PM

I type using the "traditional" two-hand method. I'm generally a fairly fast typist, though I've been switching keyboards a lot lately (two laptops, one of which has more widely-spaced keys than the other), which has been slowing me down a bit. I just got about 90 WPM on a typing test I pulled up quickly online.

Tsutarja April 16th, 2014 2:05 AM

I use both of my hands to type, though I use my right hand more than my left. Usually when I type, I typically begin keystrokes with my right hand, and use my left hand for easy access to keys on the left side of the keyboard just so I don't have to move my hand.
