Trends among people who you are friends with.
long title because "trends among your friends" is a really dumb-sounding rhyme
I'm not asking what sort of people you're friends with - that'd just lead to a load of tl;dr "nice people". What I want to know about is trends you notice in your friends. Do they often do a certain thing / have certain habits and mannerisms / enjoy certain things? Are these all things that they have in common with you? Are they things that you'd expect to find in your friends? Are there any at all, or are your friends fairly random? I'll reiterate here - I'm not looking for stuff you look for in a friend and I'm not asking what sort of people your friends are. I just want to know if you ever see any particular trends in the friends you do have. ...for example my friends have a tendency to be smokers, regular drinkers, usually either northern or Irish, usually male, often not on my course. None of these are things that I look for in friends, not does it say much about them as people - it just happens to be things that a number of them have in common. How about you? For simplicity's sake let's just use offline friends here. |
A lot of my friends are guys. I've never really gotten along with other girls that well and I generally don't feel comfortable around them. I have a few girl friends, but it's usually because I don't feel like they're trying to be better than me or make things competitive. I don't know if that makes sense. Like for example, I have one girl friend (who I've known forever so I can't just toss her out now lol) that tries way too hard to make herself look better than me and everyone else around. "How many Instagram followers do you have? Oh 98? For some reason I have like 600!" Oh. My. God. No one cares.
A lot of my friends also play saxophone, but that happens when you're in a large band and you're with your section every single day during the season. |
trends among friends :D
My closest friends tend to be sort of... I guess the word is odd. Just a little bit strange in one way or another, not to the point that they are shunned or noticeably disliked by others, just strange in some way that makes those who strive to be more "normal" comment on it once in a while. I like it that way, as I'm a bit strange too :3 Not noticeably strange, I wouldn't stand out negatively anywhere methinks. I'm just a li'l person with no weird features, haha. I just know that I'm not completely, um, not-odd. People who make an effort to blend in with the crowd too much are boring, I suppose I think. I like dreamers, people who dare to be a bit weird and preferably be aware of it. I can relax around them! I don't think I have more close guy or girl friends nowadays. Haven't thought about it, which feels like a good thing that I don't have to :] |
Most of my friends are tokers or gamers. The toker thing kind of started a couple years ago at least in my friend area but most of the friends I end up making tend to do it.
|
Both my offline and online friends usually meet the same criteria. Dissatisfied with life and aimless so spend every day wasting away, pretty much like myself. All of them bar two dropped out of education fairly early, just make ends meet as best as we can. All of my online friends are my age, most of my offline ones are in their late 20s, early 30s.
We spend the days smoking, drinking and complaining about society; or talking about music, and of course we only have the musical skill of a 10 year old beginner. But at least we realise we aren't cool enough to be bohemian; just losers. We'll find our calling some day.... |
I don't really have real-life friends. No trends to latch on to or buck.
|
Most of my friends are bronies I met through Facebook and other pony means. So a lot of them are gamers or like Dr.Who. Dr.Who is a big thing with my internet friends.
|
Most of my friends drink underage, a few smoke pot (I don't), and a couple of us are extremely thirsty (I'm not). One common trait between ALL of us is that we are heller loud haha.
|
All of them are "Pewdiepie" fan boys being serious here
|
Most of my friends are girls, and the ones that aren't are black or hispanic guys. I have like all of two white friends. Most of them drink and smoke weed, and all of them game.
|
Loud, weird, different. Outcasts, really. Those are my real life friends. We should be able to all have a laugh through odd actions and sounds, we're like crazy tribesmen. o.O Having our own language, our own injokes.
Online, most of my friends should be into anime and games, and are able to talk a wide variety of them. |
All of my friends seem to be interested in either cars or programming. (latter probably because I'm a computer science major, duh)
|
A lot of my friends are offensive in various ways, and they all enjoy puns, but I think that's because people who hate puns wont talk to me for long. They're terrible people and mostly male, all gamers and creative. Also I think they've all got various levels of mental illness. In that way we all understand each other and support each other and laugh, a lot, about everything and nothing.
There are no trends in nationality, sexuality, or how much money we have. Really as far as money goes it ranges from two brothers who are very very wealthy to me who's not sure how she's gonna pay her phonebills. But we all take care of each other in every way we can. Friends I make on PC often have similar traits but to a slightly lesser extent. I'd consider them my more normal friends. |
I originally had no intentions of posting. But after talking with one of my friends about this for poops and giggles, our findings were amusing... to us, anyway.
Puns/dumb jokes/offensive humor. They're also all extremely immature. If you talk to any of my friends for any length of time, you will hear them tell you that they're only 6-years-old. I was corrected by aforementioned friend, he says he's 7. Mental illnesses. We've got practically everything ranging from bipolar to PTSD to schizophrenics, so on and so forth. Much like myself, most of my friends have more than one mental disorder that they struggle with, hence the variety. Alcohol. Most of my friends are not shy around booze. 'Nuff said. Cats. Every single one of my friends has at least one cat, but most have more. Gamers. Video games, board games, tabletop RPGs.. etc. Oh wait, I missed one. They're also all atheists, but again, this is something we have in common. My friends are The Internet™ Seriously though, I always figured on surrounding myself with gamers and cat-lovers, similar interests and all. But I didn't expect so many of the people I'd call my friends to be immature, offensive, and heavy drinkers. Especially since I am none of those things. I am so mature. There's no trends in gender, sexuality, nationality.. nothing else like that. And none of them really have any other similar interests or goals or anything -- everything from their choices in movies, music, hobbies, skills, career fields, etc. amongst them are all vastly different. tl;dr If you put all of my friends in the same room, you'd probably wonder why all of these people are in the same room. :P |
GAH THIS IS HARD TO ANSWER.
I have constant moving relationships with people, not in a way I lose friends, it's just that I move around from clique to clique and I just completely insert myself into everything (which everyone is okay with) because of secret reasons, but in the end there are so many different things that they're into. In my main group of friends which is very roughly 5 people, we are all so different. [1] Is a math genius, anime addict, mostly quiet but not shy, likes games. [2] Is very ultra lovable and silly, enjoys manga but mostly movies, likes sports. [3] Mega religious, blow-hard, full of themselves, hates anime, fairly good artist, wimp. [4] Overall Genius, Mega geek, Hardcore gamer, Funny, Charismatic, kinda poor, lot's of psychological illnesses, great at sports, practically shy, amazing artist, possible psycho. [5] Lazy, Brave, loud mouth, shop-a-holic, hates animals, loves games. It's very weird really. |
uhhhhhhhhhh all my friends are mostly not friends with each other because they don't have similar trends.
A majority of them smoke cigs I guess... that is literally the most common thing they all have. They're more similar as people than what they actually do which isn't what this thread is about so I got nothing. |
Half of my friends smoke marijuana casually (mostly only in parties), are all somehow academically smart in at least one subject, most of them like football, and half of them can play a musical instrument.
One weird thing is that 90% of them are white, which makes it difficult to bring any of them home without my asian parents being weird. I don't have many asian friends myself besides a few, but I don't speak and hang out with them as much as my usual friends. Don't really know how things ended up like that but oh well, who cares aha. |
Most of my friends are guys, really into movies, love video games, and are for the most part rather mellow and laid back. This covers my irl friend base anyways.
|
They're either women or gay men and they're all interested in nerdy things, but not always the same nerdy things. My two best female friends are super into Batman where all the gay guys are into the Marvel universe. Though everybody is interested in The Avengers because, well... if you're not then you're not really worth knowing, are you?
With the exception of one none of them smoke and none of us are huge drinkers. Most of them are either unemployed or underemployed (for various reasons, none of which have anything to do with them being lazy or not wanting to work) and as such don't have much money. Only about half of them drive, all of them are white. Interestingly all of the friends I have from high school are younger than me, but all the friends I've made since are older than me. |
My friends tend to be male. They are pretty diverse, though they're generally of Mediterranean or continental European heritages (Italian is probably the most common heritage of my friends - my friends Frank, Tom, and Ashley all have Italian in them). Most of them are not Anglo-Celtic - the ones that are are either Scottish or Irish, rarely English. Despite the fact that I'm Muslim, most of my friends are Catholic. I do have quite a few Muslim friends, though. The few atheist friends that I have are all female.
The biggest thing is that plenty of them are swimmers. Also, all of my guy friends wear speedos when swimming at least sometimes, even the ones that aren't swimmers (my best friend Ashley is a good example - he can't swim very well). They also tend to be gamers as well. None of them smoke or drink. Most of them live with both parents and come from good families (good as in nice families, not just ones with money). My friends have a variety of tastes in music, movies, fashion, games, and TV shows. Some of them like anime, some don't. Some are athletic, some aren't. My friends' attitudes vary sharply - I've got some shy and some outgoing friends. I've got optimistic and pessimistic friends. I don't discriminate based on personality as long as they're not jerks. We also tend to grow our hair out at least a little - not all of us have long hair (plenty of us don't - me, Frank, and Ashley all have long hair. Tom's hair is short, but it's still long enough for him to part it - he parts his hair to the side.), and I do have a few guy friends with crew cuts, though none of them shave their heads. A lot of my male friends are blond (Frank and Tom are blond), but not too many of my female friends are. My female friends are generally tomboys and gamers. I have a few more girly female friends, though most of them are also friends of my girlfriend. Most of my female friends dress relatively conservatively (i.e. no short shorts or halter tops). I also have a few gay guys as friends. The gay guy who I'm closest with is actually friends with mostly guys - both gay and straight - and rarely hangs out with girls. (This all applies to my real-life friends.) |

none of my friends have anything in common with me or each other. we all are literally so different and i have no idea why we get along. the only thing we have in common is that we're teenage guys (plus a few girls lol)
oh wait, actually, at one point i noticed that almost all my friends are at least part German. but that's it lol |
No trends. I know exactly what I'm looking for.
Anything else is just what sets that person apart from everyone else, and I can't really think of anything consistent at all. I have a healthy amount of interest in a wide range of things; meaning I've had situations where I get along with two people that uh... would hate each other's guts. 8D It's fun. |
All of my close friends listen to Green Day. I don't know how it happened, but they do. I'm associated with two people who absolutely detest each other's very existence and they both like Green Day. I don't get it. To make it worse, I don't listen to them, so I feel out of place with them all the time.
|
Hmmm, let's see...
We're extremely immature when we're together. |
Many of my online friends are male and have interests in gaming and anime. Personalities are at both extremes, but generally I've noticed that they speak their minds. My friends in my offline life are usually female, either tomboyish or (especially in college) scatterbrained, but they will stick up for a friend in need.
