PC Production!

So, we all use PC for different reasons. Some people make a lot of threads, some people just hang out. Everyone sort of does there own thing. However, me, and I'm sure others, have mixed it up through out their time.

When I first started, I made a lot of threads.
Then, I started hanging out in the DCCs more frequently, instead.
After that, I made a lot of more important threads such as Challenges, Fan Clubs and an art shop.
Now, I more just hang out and I'm a lot happier with how I am now, because I don't feel like I have a burden anymore.

How do you use PC and did you ever go in spurts of doing something differently?

Bellsprout April 17th, 2014 3:54 PM

I use pc now to kill time when I really have nothing to do. I don't really watch tv or have many side hobbies when I'm home besides cleaning lol so I just jam some computer time in. In a perfect world I would like to use pc to find some cool people to chat with, but in the past I've been thoroughly disappointed and I've pretty much given up on that ever happening.

In the beginning I just used pc as a way to talk about Pokemon since I'm not very open about it to my friends irl. I posted in most of the sections. Then I slowly started posting in sections that were the most interesting to me and made an effort to talk to people because I was interested in making friends. Then somewhere after being modded I got so sick of everything and left. After that I just stuck in dcc, pg, and c&m, which is where I've been everytime I come back now.

I use PC to cure boredom. I come here, answer a few threads, and then eventually someone says something that I think is annoying, or I get even more bored, and I close the tab and do something else. I pretty much just go to this section, occasionally Culture and Media, and occasionally Debates and Discussions. Every now and then I'll leave some feedback or suggestion for the staff.

Talon April 17th, 2014 5:53 PM

I use PC to see the interesting people we have here. I just hang out in CCC, D&D, Art, Writing, and Culture and Media. I used to make lots of threads, challenges, random things in CCC, and so on. But now I'm mostly just answering the questions asked in CCC.

El Héroe Oscuro April 17th, 2014 6:33 PM

Back in the day when I first joined the site in '09, I used to use the site just as an easy place to make a shop for trading pokemon. And I was pretty successful too, just went back and looked and I guess it was the third most popular trading thread to date (over 7,000 posts anyways)?

Fast forward a few years and I hardly every go there. I like to think that my focal points for PokeCommunity are my blog (which if you haven't seen it yet you should really check it out *cough cough*) and the Video Games section. I also like to go into the CCC and AD as it rekindled my love to draw, but the former two are probably what I mainly use it for. That, and of course to make some friends here and there <3

Raine April 17th, 2014 7:49 PM

When I initially joined PC, I thought it would be a great place to become acquainted with the Pokemon series, and I never imagined that I would come across such a great community where I've met a few good friends (: That objective has been burned, as far as I'm concerned considering that 90% of my activity thus far has been within the bottom sections of the forum XD Right now, I think I visit PC mainly to converse with people who I connect with because of similar interests, and what-not; communicating online is generally easier for me so I feel extremely comfortable here. Generally though, being here is a past-time, not necessarily when I'm bored; I always want to be on!

Honest April 17th, 2014 8:40 PM

PC is just a pastime for me. A hobby, so to speak. Lately, a hobby I really haven't dedicated much time to. Probably should do something about that.

When I joined, though, I never posted. It was all about talking to people for me back in the day. Around 2012 is when I got into posting, I think.

curiousnathan April 17th, 2014 9:45 PM

PC is just a place where I can chill and muck around with a bunch of friends.

I post actively all around the place but don't make as many threads I'm (I suppose..supposed to and should.)

PC is arguably one of the least productive things going on for me, tbh.

But eh, everyone has their vices. Mine just happens to be internet forums now and then, haha. And the odd bit of gambling. If an internet forum is causing you stress or if you feel like it's a burden/duty to you, you are doing internet forums very wrong indeed. Might as well enjoy it if you're putting your free time into it, yeah?

Apollo April 18th, 2014 1:58 AM

When I first joined with my old account (2011), the only reason was for downloading hacks and all that. Eventually, I got into posting and basically things go on after that. Now, it's a place for killing time and a place to discuss about my interests as well. :3

Pokecommunity is a place that I use to keep myself from going spare with boredom.

Candy April 18th, 2014 3:13 AM

Hmm... At first I joined PC because why not? But I was on and off the forums a lot of times. xDD

At first I joined to talk about Pokemon, but being the shy person I am I don't feel like doing so. And then the next time I came back it was for the hacks and the challenges. And then this incident happened that I quit from every single Pokemon forum that I frequent for over a year (Hikamaru knows what happened).

And now I'm back to lurk at the bottom section of the forum this time. Yeah, apparently a year of not touching any Pokemon forum made me lose interest in going to the top sections and lurk at the off-topic discussions. Nevertheless, it has always been a place where I get rid of my boredom. xDD

Trev April 18th, 2014 6:27 AM

I jumped from ROM Hacking to Storywriting to RPC and then finalized here. It's basically all I have time for anymore.

Hikamaru April 18th, 2014 5:22 PM

I joined here because I was trying to escape the mod power abuse creep that haunted me at Bulbagarden, and let's face it I didn't get off to a good start here and I was once worried I was going to have the same fate, let alone not expecting to become an active poster.

My specialized sections tended to change a lot, but these days you'll usually catch me in Chit Chat Cafe (aka here), The Welcome Lounge and most of the Pokemon sections.

Sonata April 18th, 2014 5:40 PM

When I first started I let my account sit for almost a year.
Then about 6 weeks ago I got on and made my first post in ROM Hacks and stayed there for a while.
Then once I finished all the hacks I started doing challenges.
Then I ventured over to DCC and Video Games then Clubs.
Now I just basically have every section open at the same time and post in threads and if any idea for a thread comes to mind I'll post it.

Astinus April 18th, 2014 5:51 PM

I use PC as a way to talk about myself!

Actually, it's a way for me to communicate with others about subjects that interest me. I can join in on conversations about a variety of things and get to know others.

Plus, PC is a good way to cure boredom. If I have a few minutes of spare times, I can usually find a thread to interest me for those few minutes.

antemortem April 18th, 2014 6:08 PM

I first joined for no reason in particular except to maybe take advantage of some member-only options, but I couldn't for the life of me remember what they were or the true reason. I jumped from there to various sections until one suited me, then I would just post around wherever thereafter.

Khoshi April 19th, 2014 12:11 AM

I originally joined because I didn't understand Smogon's competitive Pokemon stuff, and looked for something easier to adjust to. It's more of a hobby to me than just a timekiller, and I've met some really lovely people here. :p

I was originally shy of moderators, thinking they were the LOCK ALL THE THINGS type and that kept me from posting too often, but as I got more into the forum, they were really nice and ready to help.

I originally started around 4th Generation Gaming, so I could fangirl about how brilliant Pokemon Platinum was (at least, to me it was). Main sections for me are probably Pokemon Gaming Central, Pokemon General and right here in CCC.

Legobricks April 19th, 2014 10:14 AM

I've always just posted. Not much to it. Since last year I've developed a conscience of contributing to the community as a whole through CQ&F, but my level of engagement is variable in the long term.

Nolafus April 19th, 2014 10:41 AM

I originally joined because no one around me wanted to talk to me about pokemon to the extent that I did. When I first joined, you could find me around the gen 5 and pokemon trivia sections. It was a great way to cure boredom. Then school came and I slowly stopped coming on. Eventually I found my way back to post my fic and hopefully get a review, and I ended up staying.

Starry Windy April 21st, 2014 1:32 AM

I was joining PC because I wanted to have some friend to talk, I was mostly isolated before I joined. And now I've decided to go to PC with my own pace.

Poki April 21st, 2014 2:55 PM

PC is where I kill my precious time, and post things that don't make sense most of the time. <33

Hiidoran April 21st, 2014 5:26 PM

I originally joined PC for the rom hacking... and that's really what kept me coming back for a few years. After a while I learned to like the community, started posting around the off-topic boards and got to know a few people. Suddenly I was here everyday... all day. It was a fun time. I began welcoming a lot of members, and eventually got modded. Had to give that up for school and other interests.

Now PC is kinda just like a get-away. I come back here for nostalgia, mostly.

Puddle April 21st, 2014 5:48 PM

I think it's crazy how many people join without the intention of staying and as time goes on, they get more and more attached.

Haha, I think it's because we get to know a variety of different people in addition to those who we discover share the same interests, opinions, etc. with us (: In comparison to real life, I feel more comfortable sharing my opinions, and information about myself on PC, and among the friends who I've made here.
