I don't do style. I am style

What do you consider style? As in, what about a person makes you look at them and say, "Hey, now they've got style!"

What's your style? Do you have one?

Post away my little internet monke- Go ahead, guys.

Nick April 17th, 2014 4:10 PM

If I see you wearing a plaid shirt, dark slim straight jeans/khaki, and carrying a messenger bag with black frame glasses, I'll think you have style and want to get to know you. That's also pretty much my style.

Raine April 17th, 2014 5:10 PM

I used to have a more preppy style back in middle/high school, but then I started becoming more guy-ish in personality, and I started to not care as much about the type of clothing I wear. After graduating, the pressure of having to fit in was non-existent so I felt comfortable with wearing whatever was comfortable ever since. Even though I say that, I do maintain a certain standard of dress with keeping everything conservative, and not revealing as most girls my age seem to be doing...At least the ones I see around campus. Overall, I think I'd say my style would be considered casual. There are days when I don't feel like dressing up, and throw on a pair of jeans with a sweater/t-shirt. Other days I will put slightly more effort into maintaining a certain image XD

Puddle April 17th, 2014 5:27 PM

Vans, Khakis and Surfer Shirts.
That's about it.

Salamence62 April 17th, 2014 7:11 PM

either something scene, a bit gothic with sass, some chains but only reveals a tiny bit of leg, as long as you got nice ones, lol.

maybe some ripped jeans, fishnet sleeves (torrrrn of course), some black, grungy combat boots...

or maybe some cutesy fashion, like a long, black and white striped scarf, a cute yellow t-shirt, some white shorts and some long black and white stockings with light pink sneakers! ^^

my god, i just realized that i like pastels, lol.

El Héroe Oscuro April 17th, 2014 7:34 PM

Do I have style? Heck no. I'm very cheap when it comes to certain things, such as clothes, because I find there are better things that I can spend my money on like music. I'd eventually grow out of it anyways so I don't see the point in trying to spend hundreds of dollars on clothes because "it's in style."

However, I will say this: if you - as in a female - wear a sundress, I will absolutely derp over it. Not like in the creepy, pedophilic way or anything like that; I just blush really hard because I think that kind of dress is one of the most beautiful things that a lass can wear. That's why I always get excited/dread about the upcoming summer times.

By the looks of it in the picture thread, what you're doing in terms of style seems to be working for you XD Sundresses on women are quite feminine, and I can see why you would be attracted to them.

Honest April 17th, 2014 7:50 PM

Agreeing with Raine about cha, Matt. You got 'em.

I think many things are stylish, really. My personal style is skinny jeans, boat shoes lr suede shoes, t-shirt or dress shirt with cardigan, and a beanie. But that's me, and I'm quite open minded to what style is. Bad style is easier to define than good style lol

Azonic April 17th, 2014 9:31 PM

i think i would call my style streetwise or urban, idk. i wear skinny jeans and id usually have a flat billed snapback on, and vans or basketball shoes.

i hate plaid shirts, those black framed glasses and suspenders with a passion.

curiousnathan April 17th, 2014 9:37 PM

Jeans, sweater, woolen jumper/jacket, watch and glasses (even though I don't wear them), are my style.

Kyrul April 17th, 2014 9:52 PM

I don't have much style.
I'm just a T-shirt, Jeans and boots kind of guy, sometimes a plaid shirt too. I still have a lot of clothes that I wear from high school and I guess I was more of a prep back then, wearing fox racing, hurley, aeropostale, hollister and american eagle ♥♥♥♥.

I really haven't bought too many clothes for the past year or so. I'm still the same size as I was in high school and my old clothes ain't nasty looking, so it's all good.

Dustmop April 17th, 2014 10:25 PM

Regarding other people's style, I like it when they go outside the box. I'll get more excited over someone pairing loud tights with obnoxious, blinding skirts and rocking it, rather than someone else in jeans and a plaid flannel. Ya know? =p

As for myself.. I like a lot of things! If I had to sum it up, I think most of my preferences would just fall under "cute" or "girly." Lots of pastels and some florals.
Most of my shoes have a heel. Even my sneakers have a 4" wedge, though I typically prefer a pair of ankle boots with a heel. :3
I wear bootcut jeans throughout most of the year, but come summer it's time for mini skirts and sun dresses! <3
My tops are all over the place, but they mostly fall under the realms of "frilly" or "ribbons/bows."

Goo April 18th, 2014 12:03 AM

My favorite dress brand is Hell Bunny, but I've only ever been able to afford one of their dresses. I always try to match and look good but as for style I wear what I like. Yesterday in London I wore a black coat, with a superdry neon yellow and pine green knit sweater and my white Siouxsie Sioux tee (I have a few...) with some black short shorts and fish nets and some bright multicolor Osiris high tops, and of course my neon yellow socks had to match my sweater. I also had a really awesome hat which had a knitted yarn mohawk on the top.

What looks good to me is what I wear and I don't care that much what others think, but I always try to fit my style to be comfortable for the situation, and I try to be modest by covering my ears.

Apollo April 18th, 2014 12:51 AM

I don't really care about brands and just wear clothes that make me comfortable and also look good. However, I'm a fan of punk and urban fashion, I guess.

Kikaito plush April 18th, 2014 3:34 AM

I do not really have a stylw when it comes to clothes

Poki April 18th, 2014 3:39 AM

I wear whatever I'm comfortable with, which doesn't mean I dress like a complete hobo (a.k.a hipster clothing), though.

But anyways yeah I mostly wear anything comfortable and easy to wear which are mostly tank tops and some v-necks... In which this society calls "hipster" clothing... I usually where that too because of the lone single fact they kinda look nice on me... :D

man that first style hasn't been "in style" since like 2006 haha. (0;

as for my style, I like to think I look hip.

Oryx April 18th, 2014 5:44 AM

I may not like that style, but anyone who looks like they put effort into their outfit will make me think that they have style. I'm not picky when it comes to giving others the benefit of the doubt on their clothing.

My style is a lot of bright colors, skirts, and dresses. Even in the winter when it's too cold, my jeans are patterned so I'm not just wearing the same boring thing as everyone else. When it is cold though, I tend to just wear plain leggings under what I would normally wear. Now that the long winter nightmare is over I'm excited to be able to wear my shorts and skirts and dresses without leggings again. I'm a big fan of flowers and ruffles, so I guess that would fall under girly style. I don't like anything that hugs me too close past my natural waist.

Trev April 18th, 2014 6:24 AM

HA. I dress like a hobo. I have no style.

I personally think style is all about how you pull something off and whether or not the clothes you wear fit your body type. Now, I'm not against someone wearing something because they like it, because that's great; but usually, I determine style by if the person wearing etc. can actually wear etc. without looking like they tried to squeeze a bath towel around their whole body or they draped a tablecloth over themselves. I also like to see layers, because then it adds a whole new dimension of colors and awesomeness. Accessories are generally necessary as well.

Hey now. A tablecloth can make a lovely sun dress, if it's got a lovely pattern. Trash to Couture 101. =p

But I have to agree with you. One has to find what colors work best against their hair/skin/eye colors (ahem, what season you are), and the right style clothes to flatter. I am kind of picky, though. As I said, I like to see people go outside the box in terms of style, anything but casual, but I don't like seeing a spring wearing winter colors, either. That is the opposite of flattering.

Colress Machine April 18th, 2014 9:02 AM

I literally have no grasp or concept of style. The only things I wear are T-Shirts and jeans with Converse. Unless I go somewhere where T-Shirts are unacceptable. Then it's a nice shirt with jeans. : P But I've gotten many a compliment because I wear T-Shirts with characters or quotes from my favorite shows. I also like T-Shirts with science jokes on them.
Having someone burst out in a huge grin, point, and say "I love that show, awesome shirt!" is the best feeling ever. And it's a great way to make friends. It's equally awesome when someone understands any of my science shirts.

Sage Ebock April 18th, 2014 9:51 AM

My style is adaptive and dependent on what I am doing/how lazy I feel.

I like to think I dress like a modern Wizard or Sorcerer King. No gold, or diamonds, only what catches my eye. Amethyst with copper, brass and steel. Wood, mud cloth, things that smell like fine oils and out doors.

I make clothes and jewelry for fun sometimes :D

Bellsprout April 18th, 2014 12:00 PM

I really don't know how to explain my style, but I get a lot of compliments so I like to think I dress well. I usually wear dark colors. Depending on the weather its a rotation of boots, sneakers, flats, or sandals. I primarily wear leggings but I do have some jeans and shorts for the summer. What I wear on top I guess is what really varies. I have a lot of dressy coats and stuff you would layer and for summer clothes I have dresses and flowy tops. I always accessorize with either scarfs, bracelets, earrings, and rings. Once and a while a necklace.

Alexander Nicholi April 18th, 2014 1:36 PM

To me, I see from what outside perspectives have told me my IRL persona portray me as a half-Johnny Cash half-90s goth kind of guy (I don't wear makeup or any of that though). I wear a lot of black denim (it's the only denim I wear), home-cut sleeveless t-shirts, short black boots, and my hair is rather ragged and unkempt though short. I'm quiet unless spoken to, meaning I have a very reserved nature about me. I'm also rather well spoken when I have time in advance to structure my thoughts tangibly. I also walk rather tall at 5'11", and have a somewhat large upper body build.

In the summertime, though, I'm vastly different. I wear shorts and sleeveless t-shirts a lot with almost always an array of bright pastel-like colors, although I'm still rather reserved, and… big. :P
