Hey baby, here's that song you wanted

What's one of your favorite romantic things to say or do to somebody?

My all time favorite romantic thing to do is, give them 12 roses, 11 of them real, 1 of them fake, and say "I'll love you until the last one dies."

I know it's probably pretty commonly used, but I love it.

Another I like is "Baby, I was counting stars last night, and thinking of something I love about you for each one. I was doing fine until I ran out of stars."

I tend not to come up with "things" that are generic and can be taken out of the context of one person and given directly to another; to me, that doesn't require enough thought to qualify as romantic. Romance to me is about intimately knowing the other person and using that in a gesture.

For example, for one of my boyfriend's birthdays I got him a stuffed plush of Ein from Cowboy Bebop. That doesn't seem romantic, until you take into account that dogs are the only thing in the world that makes him go mushy inside, we both love corgis, he loves Cowboy Bebop, and our apartment prohibits owning a dog. Ever since then we've made it a game to treat the plush like a real dog. To me, that's romantic because I gave a great deal of thought to what he loves and what would make him happy and executed it.

I write really crappy poetry. Like a couple of years ago during the winter I wrote this for my now ex.

They're all somewhere on vampirefreaks right now but I have no idea where. Really sucks cuz like two of them were halfway decent.

Khoshi April 19th, 2014 6:41 PM

I just keep going on about how sweet they are. Pretty lame stuff...I'm not a romantic person. :s

Vincent April 19th, 2014 6:50 PM

Well for me, as I'm a bit of a romantic, the phrases like the 12 roses thing are not generally what I say I do more of an impromptu style of flirting with a girl in which it just goes my way y'know? Just be creative. Like for example:

At the Battle Server, I always tease Megan because of my voice then I saw her alt there was "Minerva" then i said "Hey Meg! You know you can't spell Minerva without Mine ;D...

It's easy once you've let your imaginative side do all the flirting.

One time I made my ex this glassblown thing that had both of our names on it. I was at Holiday World and they have a shop there that will make you things blown out of glass and I asked if I could make it myself with like a step by step walthrough for help and it didn't come out too bad and meant more. I also had to pay like 30 more bucks for it though.

The title made me think of the whole idea of creating mix CDs for your significant other, which I appreciate the thought going into it, but to be honest, doesn't seem all that romantic unless you complete it with all these love songs...But anyway, there will be moments where I start sprouting random ideas at various times imagining the situation if I had a significant other, I would do all these things for them. I really am a hopeless romantic at heart, and my belief is that it's the thought that counts above everything else. Since I'm the type of person to pay attention to small details, I have all these creative ideas for the day when I have someone to share them with :3

omg all these quotes AHH I HAVE BUTTERFLIES RN

and perfect for me because i'm crushing haaaard on someone rn.

Slate won my heart with that quote, btw.

ANYWAYS on topic, I'm someone who likes to use random romantic song lyrics. Since I'm in a stage where I'm crushing on someone atm, I find every quote to be relevant to me. I never really come up with my own things though...not even poems or songs.

Well, actually, I used to write poems for my first BF back in high school but I threw them out.

Sniper April 19th, 2014 11:02 PM

Romantic quotes and pick up lines. Also whatever comes in my mind that I think will make her heart go crazy <3 I'm a very sweet person.

Goo April 20th, 2014 12:08 AM

Good morning texts are the best things ever. Not like every day, but on occasion. I don't really do cutesy romantic stuff though. I'm more interested in thoughtful stuff. Trying new things because the person I like likes them, or doing their laundry ect. Or I'll do things in games "I got you this gun I know you'd like" or healing/supporting them.

Poki April 20th, 2014 4:02 PM

I have nobody to flirt with, but I'd probably make up my own crap. That'll do it.

Nathan April 20th, 2014 4:04 PM

Well, actually... I don't know how to romance :(

lozzop April 20th, 2014 4:37 PM

I'm terrible at being romantic, but I really appreciate it when people display romantic affection towards me, it's a wonderful way of showing you care, there is no too cheesy when it comes to being romantic imo :)

One I like is 'Life without you is like a broken pencil... pointless...'

Cue standing ovation from your partner.

maccrash April 20th, 2014 4:45 PM

I feel like if I said any of the pick-up lines stated in this thread so far, the girl would just laugh at me and walk away. like, because they're so cheesy.

I'm a romantic in theory, but in practice, I clam up. I got a bit flirty with a girl I liked for awhile but I never said anything too bold. coulda sworn she was into me. ;_; oh well that's life m8.

Bellsprout April 21st, 2014 7:14 AM

uhhhh i would never consider a generic pick up line that you used on many people as a romantic gesture but that's pc for ya

When I truly like someone and the feelings are mutual I feel myself wanting to be romantic, but holding back because I guess I'm afraid of showing that side of myself. It's almost like I never want them to know how much I actually care because if it doesn't work out I'm almost embarrassed that I ever showed any part of myself to them.

Honestly in a perfect romantic relationship in my mind I would surprise them with gifts I know that they will love because that's my way of showing that I am always thinking of them when I'm out and that I really care about them. Then on top of that I'd want to do little side things, like maybe one day I'd take their car and fill it up for them or I'd take them out to dinner my treat or I'd go over their house and do some of their chores for them and have it all done for when they get home. And I'd want it all to be just a spur of the moment thing. I think it's so romantic when you do something for someone and it's not because they told you they've been having a bad week or they're really stressed one day, you just do it randomly because you love them and want to do it. All I would want back is just to be told that I'm appreciated and given a million kisses all over.

If someone did these kind of things back to me though I think I would be totally in love. Showing appreciation in a relationship is just the most romantic thing to me and I just so desperately wish I'll find someone someday who truly appreciates all that I do and feel for them!!

I did the rose thing in High School it's a classic thing for people to do. I just tend to sing to them most girls fall in love with my singing voice especially when I'm singing for them haha.

Eevee-Kins April 21st, 2014 7:43 AM

I really like cute cheesy things.
Like singing, flowers, compliments, etc.
Ahhhhh, I love thinking all cutesy and romantic-y.

£ April 21st, 2014 8:46 AM

The most romantic thing anyone can do for me would be not to do any of the above. Just being together without any ridiculous needless gestures is romance in my eyes.

You two are the most adorable ever and I don't even know you. Eeee.

I did a similar thing recently. I never let people borrow my games, especially my Pokemon games. Same goes for consoles. But I let my boyfriend borrow my old DS, Ruby, and White 2. He sold all his old stuff because his friend told him Black and White would be the last Pokemon games, so he missed out on everything after. He wanted to play some old games too. He completely lit up when I handed it to him and it means the world to me that I could make him so happy. He even used one of my favorite Pokemon, Altaria, in Ruby for me. <3 Haha. We like playing games together in general too, so any time we get to play together is nice.

We say plenty of romantic things to each other, but I think our actions are louder. Every time I do badly on a test or freak out about something going on, he's always there to hold me and remind me that everything will be okay and that he'll love me no matter what. I tend to get upset pretty easily, so having that kind of support is romantic in my eyes.

Blastin'Tyruntz April 21st, 2014 12:02 PM

Romantic lines, pick up lines, song lyrics, drawing, writing poems...in the department of romantics i am quite good (or at least that what i've been told).
ATM my girlfriend and i have the exact same taste in music (same genres, same bands, same song we like and dislike), so picking up song lyrics that are extra romantic or meaningful to us isn't that hard. She is also a kind of a nerd and a girl gamer like me, so i used this line, referencing Harry Potter: "Are you a dementor? 'Cause you take my breath away". She thought it was cute.

I'm sad she lives away and i could probably never use my actual dating techniques, i'm working very hard on dates or gifts for partners if i am really into them. Well that's life for ya, i guess. :)
