dem shinies tho
Brief skim of the forum indicates this topic hasn't been made yet, but idk, I haven't even posted here yet so I guess I wouldn't know.
Anyways, with Gen VI they improved your odds of getting shiny Pokemon by lowering the encounter rate, bringing back the PokeRadar, adding Chain Fishing, etc. Do you hope these things carry on from XY to these remakes? Perhaps they introduce a whole new aspect for hunting shiny Pokemon? |
I always loved the pokeradar, I just hope they bring back that tool they had in D/P/P that showed you what chain you were at.
|
Any mechanic that's not revolved around an item will most likely be carried over, as that is a wild catch mechanic and it would be a bit idiotic to have 2 sets of 6th gen games with difference mechanics.
|
Yup, the PokéRadar seems like a good way to cough in more Pokémon from the National Dex postgame. Other than that, the chain fishing thing would also be useful, although they should really promote hordes to get shinies. Masuda Method might be a bit easier now with the whole worldwide release thing as well. Maybe someday they would increase the overall chances as well.

I wish they bumped up the survival rate to be honest. I want shinies to become rarities again. Unfortunately, chain fishing included. :<
|
I'm pretty okay with the usual shiny encounters currently coz in my whole Pokemon career, I have found 1 shiny and caught zero shinies :( So, I'm still okay :)

But I've only found two shinies, and both be Green Golbat and both in the Victory Road. Back then I used to think breeding a shiny Pokémon would result in a shiny Egg. Oh, how I was wrong... |
They will probably bring over the same rates since it's the same "generation". But since I'm not really into shiny hunting, I don't really care too much overall. x3
|
Every generation we see a new mechanic introduced so as to obtain shiny Pokémon, or an overhaul to the shiny Pokémon system. In generation 3, we seen the system overhauled to no longer be based on IV's, but on other determinants instead. Those determinants were a calculation made by comparing the trainer's original ID, secret ID, and the Pokémon's personality. This generation didn't bring in much changes though, given that the rates remained the same (1/8192) despite altered data structures. Interestingly, it was the first time we seen trainers have pre-defined shiny Pokémon (Trainer Tower in FRLG).
In generation 4, they introduced the method of making shiny encounter rates better. Thanks to the PokéRadar, as we all know. After chaining the same Pokémon 40 times or more, we received a 1/200 chance of encountering a shiny Pokémon; which was the best rate to date. We also seen the introduction of the Masuda Method, which allowed us to multiply our chances to encounter one by 5 (1/1638). So generation 4 brought in a lot of interesting additions, but not many "changes" like in the previous generation. In generation 5, we see the first instance of certain wild Pokémon not having a possibility to be shiny (Zekrom, Reshiram, Victini). But in this generation we see the Masuda Method having a better ratio for shiny Pokémon outcome (approximately 1/1638 to 1/1365). We also see the introduction of the Shiny Charm which effectively triples the chances of seeing a shiny Pokémon in the wild (if in the player's bag). Finally, this generation we see the introduction of the Chain Fishing method and double the chance to encounter a shiny Pokémon in typical methods (1/4096). We also see the Friend Safari gaining a higher chance of finding a shiny. This, tied with the previous mechanics such as the Masuda Method, PokéRadar chaining, and the Shiny Charm; leads me to really hope they slow down on giving us new ways to hunt shinies. I would like to see alternative methods such as the PokéRadar, but not necessarily better chances. Right now, shiny Pokémon are becoming less of a "rare breed" and more of a collector's item that isn't even too hard to obtain any more. It takes the fun out of it, so I really hope that we don't see any further adjustments this generation. I think we might see a new method, there is that possibility. However I don't think they'll make it any easier for us. |

A new method would be interesting to see, though.. Quote:

But then they've been doing so many things to bring down the odds of getting a shiny Pokémon, I guess they can simply sit back now. Masuda method is going to be more common because of worldwide launches, and the Shiny Charm added with the doubled chances would almost ensure that a person gets at least one shiny in a game. I guess they want to make people aware of shinies, I don't think many would have encountered one unless they were specifically hunting. I don't see any new mechanic added, but even then the chances are really big. If they make Kyogre/Groudon possible shinies in these games, then with the shiny charm and a lot of soft resets, one could get a shiny variant if patient or lucky. By shiny-locking them, well... they would promote a lot of shiny legendary events. |
I don't think that we're going to get any addition to shiny hunting until another generation, unfortunately. :( Though, I do love all things that X and Y had introduced in terms of this; thanks to them, I've been able to capture more shinies than ever. Within only the first week of gameplay, I wound up with three different shiny Pokémon, white one of them currently being on my team. I definitely see them keeping these changes in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, since they fit within sixth generation category. Of course, I can't be hundred-percent sure, but this would be my best guess.
|
I think they'll remove the PokéRadar. I'm sure they won't add everything; that way everyone will most likely stop using X/Y. They want to make every game have something unique, so it's unlikely that they'll port everything over. I could see the Safari Zone having better shiny rates though. That would make it definitely more interesting.
For all we know, they could even reduce the easier ways of getting shinies. Since the Friend Safari most likely won't exist in OR/AS, it won't be as easy as getting shinies. |
Unfortunately, the only time I've encountered a legitimate shiny pokemon was while playing Emerald on an emulator. It was an Aron in the cave near Dewford, and of course, I was without poke-balls. :[ That said, I hope they don't add anything to make it easier for players to find shinies. Back in the old games, it was a rare commodity and basically the crown jewel of the average gamer to have a variety of shiny Pokemon without any hacks or cheats. X and Y was a big step forward; ORAS should stay the same.
|
I can see them bringing over every method with the same rates from XY, with the possible exception of the PokeRadar. I cannot see them introducing anything else, and I hope that the current adjustments stay as they are. I personally like that shinies are much easier to find because I prefer many shiny color palettes to the normal ones, so I like having Pokemon with colors I prefer even if they're less rare now. That being said, there are obviously people who liked when shinies were more scarce, so making them even easier to find would be silly. Of course, if they were to introduce a whole new set of color palettes for all the Pokemon, shinies becoming more common may be possible. However, I can't see that happening at all.

Makes it rather unfun and not as exciting when that shiny finally comes up cause hey, there's a high chance your next door neighbor has two of that same shiny. I can safely say shinies have little value anymore, and I honestly wish they would change the rates back to what they were.. But there's an extremely high chance they won't be. Same generation technically. |
My first shiny was in ruby and it was a shiny nincada. In thought it was cool cause I was able to get two for the price of one lol
|
I hope to god not. I used to love shiny hunting..now it's too easy for me. :(
Ruby gave me the most shinies out of any game. All random too. Love Ruby for that <3 |
