It's one of the best things about Hoenn.

So you were never upset about Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum in the first place? Granted, Platinum at least changed the story a little bit, but the other three were...well, roughly identical to the others in the generation.

Though going from OR/AS into a "Z" and moving on from there WOULD be identical to Gen. III with FR/LG in between the three newer games.

A sequel seems like a good idea. Now advance the story and both characters are grown up, maybe even married to each other through their love for Pokémon battling. The anime would never document this, however, since Ash never ages, so May also cannot be aged.

Pepperton June 20th, 2014 10:26 AM

No, I wasn't upset about any of those games, because they weren't remakes of a third game. If they made an 'Electric Yellow', then yes, I would've been pissed. Same goes for Crystal. It's incredibly redundant to remake the third game when they already plan on remaking the two originals, Ruby and Sapphire. They'll do what HGSS did and implement Emerald features into ORAS.

antemortem June 20th, 2014 10:59 AM

I could roll with the idea of a remake... sequel. That'd be really sweet, actually, continuing the story through a third installment, using ORAS as a segue into it.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire June 20th, 2014 1:53 PM

It wouldn't be a remake if it were treated as a sequel. The most they'll be able to add is the kind of changes we see in ORAS compared to their originals. Also the title may seem misleading as being an Emerald remake...
Also those bothered by buying a third version remake...did you ever buy one of the normal originals pairs then the third version? They'll not all that different... after all they could've added what they did in the third version into the original pair...

I would like to see if they'll release any new features in ORAS (beyond Primal Reversion) in July's Corocoro.

Well if we're talking about a game that takes place post-present Hoenn, then yeah that'd be sick. It would be a whole new story, possibly new areas and quests to go on aside from the original gym leader challenge, all things that would make it worth purchasing along with ORAS. If it was just a remake of Emerald, then it would be a waste to buy ORAS in the first place, unless you preferred Ruby/Sapphire to Emerald. I definitely didn't!

Hence why using the Emerald scenario as a sequel and adding even more new stuff is such a great idea. It's an Emerald remake in the same sense as the others, but now new Pokémon DO get added and things get shifted, and maybe new side quests appear in new areas (much like the AshGrey hack puts Ash's version of Kanto, from the anime, into Fire Red). It would be something that fans would continue to buy even with the OR/AS remakes. And you know people will buy it anyway. Why not do something cool with it?

Sure, but what I was originally saying is that simply remaking Emerald would be a total waste of money and energy, it would be much more efficient to just add the features in to ORAS. I wouldn't buy 'Delta Emerald' if it that's what it was like, for sure. d: Creating a Hoenn sequel is a completely different ball park. Would be lovely, seeing as it's my favorite region.

Hey loves! Just a friendly reminder that this is a thread to discuss CoroCoro/E3. Anything else can go in its respective thread, such as Emerald discussion belonging in the existing Emerald thread. There's also the OR/AS chat thread for anyone who wants to talk about whatever else regarding the games.

Have fun. :3

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire June 21st, 2014 11:30 AM

So again, does anyone expect to see any new features or expanded features (which were minor in past generations) of old features? Thus far we have Primal Reversion and more Megas.
Maybe some new features on the Pokénav? Or maybe some of Devon's inventions can work later in the game. Maybe they'll show that we can talk to Pokémon using their device? Maybe that could replace Aime should it not return.

Pepperton June 21st, 2014 1:11 PM

PokeNav didn't get any attention in June's CoroCoro or E3, so we may get the chance to see how it looks in ORAS when July rolls around. Would be interesting if it still has PSS and Amie, but also retains old features from the original RSE games. I'd mostly just like to see how the interface is designed.

PSS is the name of Kalos' system {XD} So it's just it's features that will appear.

I'm pretty sure they will add the Hoenn Battle Frontier to OR/AS like when they added the Sinnoh Battle Frontier to HG/SS. If not, then it will be very sad.

I'm re-quoting a post I made in another thread about Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza:

They didn't remake crystal, but they did add the storyline into HGSS that was in Crystal.

For ORAS, it is impossible unless both teams are against you and both legendaries are in your game like with Emerald. Serebii said that only one team will be against you depending on your version, they could have mistranslated, but the trailers back up what they said.

Salzorrah June 21st, 2014 11:24 PM

I'm guessing the next batch might reveal the new locations and changes in Hoenn, and possibly the PokeNav.

Altairis June 22nd, 2014 3:23 AM

I still can't believe we don't have any photos of Dive yet! I think next time we'll get a glimpse of that and maybe of new areas, yeah.

blue June 22nd, 2014 5:59 AM

Only a couple of weeks until the next CoroCoro batch! 8) Yeah I'm really hoping to see a couple of the cities, particularly Sootopolis City and Mauville City.

ShadowSlashz June 22nd, 2014 6:48 AM

I hope the battle frontier is in the remakes- I can't wait to battle Lucy in the Battle Pike!

Pepperton June 22nd, 2014 7:13 AM

I'm super excited! What I want to see most is probably Dive in action, but definitely would be nice to see Mauville City and get some clarity on all the theories and rumors surrounding it that sprang up due to the map and that artwork. PokeNav would also be a nice addition, to find out how it's going to work in ORAS.

Sceptile14 June 22nd, 2014 8:35 AM

I think that from now on, we'll be getting a couple of screenshots, a few pieces of artwork, and depending onhow many there are, a new mega evolution, in each corocoro.

Yeah, hopefully each month will showcase something new right up until the release in November. Since we don't have any more major events such as E3 this year, we're going to have to rely on CoroCoro for our sources. ;;

It's too bad that Nintendo doesn't (as far as I know) participate in TGS (Tokyo Game show) like Sony does...

I'll like to see Rustboro to see if it really did get bigger, same goes for what appears to be a new layout to Mauville.

Pepperton June 22nd, 2014 10:46 AM

I don't think CoroCoro will disappoint though. June's edition certainly didn't, all the information was amazing and left me wanting more, which is generally the type of response you'd want to new releases for a game, haha. I'd like to see some more about Steven's involvement with Primal Reversion this time around. o:

It's unwise to judge the next month's issue based on the current month's issue unless they specifically say they're going to have a lot of info next issue like they did in May's release (and we did get a lot in this month's release). This month they didn't hint at much future info, so we should lower our expectations to something along the lines of what we got last month's release.

Any information is good information tbh. Whatever they come out with, I'll be excited about it. They'd have to do some pretty drastic stuff to screw this game up for me, Hoenn being my favorite region by far. Even if we don't get much in July, that could mean an even bigger release for August!

Eh, they don't work like that either. Sometimes we get two, or even three months in a row without much info. So right now I'm keeping my hope for the rest of the issues down.
The region is my favorite too, but I'll like to see what else they've added to it. I hope that they make it even better :D !

bzsm June 24th, 2014 8:55 AM

Azure, I just want to say that seeing that Fortree gif repeat over and over in your sig is making me really damn excited for this game.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire June 24th, 2014 9:14 AM

Yeah, I can't wait to see more areas such as Mossdeep, and Sootopolis. Also the dive spots. I hope we get to see those next issue.

Pepperton June 24th, 2014 5:25 PM

During that week around like June 12, we got so much information in such a short amount of time, and right now it feels like that load of reveals was months ago when in reality it was a mere two weeks ago. D: Sootopolis is bound to look gorgeous, though I am curious to see how the entrance looks in the remakes! Hope they show it in a release soon.

I know what you mean...even during last week it was beginning to feel like it was forever since we got anything.
It's going to be a grueling 2 weeks and a half...and even then we may not get anything :( (We did have months like those for PtHgSsBWB2W2XY and likely even before those).

Maybe they'll show us underwater. I'll like to see some of Hoenn's caves too. Especially the one leading to Fallarbor as that one had gasses rising up from the heat of Mt. Chimney.

Salzorrah June 24th, 2014 11:33 PM

Oh, I would also like to see Mauville City in particular, since it's like the only city that has been majorly redesigned. Other than, than, maybe see some new areas, and possibly more new Mega's :33

It sort of looks the same beyond the wall...

I hope they reveal the areas behind the clouds if there are any. Also I'm surprised that some people don't realize that some of the new tiny islands were in the originals but weren't added to the original map :/ I still remember some of their shapes from combing the islands for treasure xD.

I expect 1-3 Megas if we get any at all.

If the only thing they release in July as far as information goes is a one-minute clip on the player diving into the water, fighting a wild Pokemon underwater, and just showing off the graphics and look of the feature, I'd be completely content. Really anxious to see diving in ORAS, especially because of the design upgrade generation six got. n__n

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire June 25th, 2014 2:32 PM

I think a clip would mean screenshots in Corocoro if there is one.
I noticed the caves look somewhat similar to the originals, so underwater while having better graphics will proably look similar to in the originals.

Yeah, I totally feel you with the "not getting your hopes up for a lot of info" mentality. That's literally the worst, expecting something big and then getting nothing at all.

But I don't think we're going to see such huge information droughts with these games; even if it's not from CoroCoro, I think we can expect some little things to keep us going while we wait for the release of the games. June is almost over, so we have slightly under five months before the big day. Unless they want to keep us completely in the dark about ORAS (which is simply a bad marketing tactic because a lot of fans would lose hype), they don't have a whole lot of time to show us more stuff. For example, if they revealed two Gym Leaders a month, it would still take them four out of the five remaining months to showcase them.

The other thing to consider is, what constitutes as "major" information? These are remakes, so with the exception of the new Mega Evolutions and maybe some new plot devices, we basically know everything about them. Even those who haven't played RSE can watch an in-depth Let's Play or read a Bulbapedia article and know what the games have to offer. So our last CoroCoro had "major" information because it revealed Primal Groudon and Kyogre, and Mega Swampert, Sceptile, and Diancie. At this point, even something like revealing Wally would be considered "minor" because it's technically nothing new. That gives us more opportunity for small updates, but at least they would be more frequent.

I vaguely (because it was so long ago) remember that the Japanese HGSS site would update without notice every so often to showcase a different Johto Gym Leader with their new art. That kind of subtle, "not really new but still new so it's exciting" kind of stuff is what I expect to see from here on out, with maybe one or two "big reveals" leading up to the releases. Granted, if they have more big reveals than that, I wouldn't complain!

Good point about the site for HgSs. It seems they're doing something similar to ORAS' US site as I noticed they added additional text. Also I do think that we found out about Sableye's ability from an update on the site, or am I wrong?

I believe so, actually. They showed a short video revealing it first, but with no real information. Pretty much all of our "hard facts" on Mega Sableye comes from the site at this point. I definitely expect more stuff to be revealed there in due time.

Like how to get Diancie's stone for example, seeing how the site says to check back for more details in the future. Same goes for the Primal Weather trio rivals' abilities.

The location of Diancie's stone may be revealed in a later updated like CoroCoro, but I think the Primal forms will get their abilities announced through the website, as well as the other Mega evolutions who receive new abilities/stat boosts that haven't been released yet. Speaking of, I wonder if they disclose any information on why Diancie was given a Mega in ORAS in July.

I don't think they'll really need an explanation for why they're giving it a Mega, unless if it's a special Mega like Primal Reversions are...

You missed the point there, it's not why Diancie is getting a Mega evolution, but rather why it's getting one now, and not in a sequel to X and Y or something of that sort, since it does originate in Kalos. That would have made more sense, at least to me, so I'm wondering why it was decided to appear in ORAS. Most likely it's just a way of advertising an event-mon and there's no real significance, but I'm still curious d:

Eh, they gave Deoxys formes that were exclusive to FrLg (well in part due to the nature of it's formes at the time) and not available in Emerald...so it's probably something like that.

Hey guys! With E3 having ended and CoroCoro only coming out monthly, sometimes with little to no information to boot, the staff have decided to close this thread as it's turning into another DCC (as well as goes off-topic more times than we can count). There's not much new CoroCoro-related information to really discuss for it to warrant its own thread. Though fear not! We urge you to continue your ORAS-related chatter in the ORAS DCC. All things related to CoroCoro can be discussed there as well for the future. =)
