I've used Gen III Suite's egg move editor after fixing the daycare and it didn't break the daycare again, so that must not have been the culprit. This means that if you want to use the tool's egg move editor, go for it, but if you do use it, back up your ROM beforehand to be on the safe side. It'll prompt you to repoint the table and it should work fine, so something else must have corrupted the table in the rom base.

Also, is it normal for Shedinja to not take damage from poison or burn in Gen III? Because it's not being hurt by them in this rombase. Poison does absolutely nothing and when burned, it says "Shedinja was hurt by its burn!" but it loses no health.

So does this have gen 6 pokemon? anyways, looks cool.

It has to be applied to a regular Fire Red 1.0 (U) ROM with no changes whatsoever. Bam, there's your base correctly implemented.

Hope that helps!

Pokemon Game Editor has changed quite a bit so the ini that is currently provided with the download does not work anymore.

I have attached an ini that will work with the latest version of PGE. Simply put it in the same folder as the ROM and as long as the ROM and ini have the same name PGE will detect it.

PGE also supports new types. simply replace the PGETypeList.txt with the one I have attached and you should be good to go.

Graykis23390 January 6th, 2016 1:56 PM

I'd like to use

I love your tool!

Can you please update your download link to include these please? Thank you!

Exodrake January 22nd, 2016 4:42 PM

I was Metronome battling myself in a double link battle, and I got this strange message which only came up in the second emulator:
http://orig10.deviantart.net/052b/f/2016/022/a/6/weird_message_by_exodrake-d9oxpcm.png

This message sometimes pops up when Moody activates. (they all have Moody, it was a Moody Metronome shenanigan-fest don't judge me)

I'm not sure if this counts as a bug or it's intentional but it weirded me out and I felt the need to post it, it's relevant because this rombase's Moody makes it pop up.

INDIAN MEW(ARAZI) January 22nd, 2016 11:51 PM

hey how can I apply your ini

Check10 January 23rd, 2016 9:03 PM

You know, just to make sure...

When patching, we can just patch with the 1.5a update, correct? Or do you have to patch with the original and then the update?

It didn't make sense in my head that you'd have to patch both, so I went ahead and just did the update.

There's two patches: one to update over 1.5 and the full 1.5a standalone. Which one you apply depends on your rom. If you are patching a clean rom then you can just use the full one and don't need 1.5 first.

This might be silly question, but I'm totally new to hex editing. For the Daycare fix do I insert the bytes or overwrite the bytes at 25F7F2 with the new code?

I've updated PGE to 3.4 and with that has come some new additions to the ini. I've attached an ini for the new version.

The PGETypeList.txt that has the fairy type is included with PGE by default now since it does not mess up anything if you don't have the Fairy type installed.

pokefreak890 January 27th, 2016 11:08 AM

how do u update pge to 3.4 is there a download we have to find or is it in the application itself

I'm here asking the same Exodrake. I just reinserted the -ate abilities that were there already so I wouldn't have to change your code.
But I'm afraid they will conflict when it branches to one or another, since they will branch in the very same place but to two different places.

Kudos for this rombase!

Although I tried to open my patched ROM in G3HS but it didn't work; I this error (in attachment).

I did copy the MrDs ini into G3HS' ini. Not sure what I did wrong after that.

Any idea of this?

I've updated PGE to 3.6 and with that there were some small additions to the ini. I've attached an ini for the new version for this ROM base.

Please remember that all you need to do is have the ini in the same folder as the ROM and with the same name.

Make sure you're using a 1.0 ROM? Can't think of much else besides that, If you're patching on to a clean ROM there shouldn't be any problems.

mrmoonbeam April 18th, 2016 4:57 AM

It is a 1.0 ROM. Screenshots to come..

Hey there,
I'm having some trouble using this patch as well. I'm trying to edit the rom in Pokemon Game Editor, but whenever I try to do anything I get an error.

When I try to edit Pokemon, it says "Conversion from string """" to type 'Double' is not valid".

When I try anything else, it says "Input string was not in a correct format."

I have copied the roms.ini from the Dollsteak patch download to the ini folder of PGE.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

krakenkull May 15th, 2016 4:24 PM

Hey,
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to load this patch in G3HS. I keep getting this error message:
Quote:

At rom offset 0xfffffe there is an unknown rom id. This means that your rom has a number at the offset of the rom id that is not in the ini. Would you like to overwrite this number with a new one? Please note that this could result in data loss if, for example, there was an image at that location causing this issue. If no, this program will close.
So far, I've applied the bug patches (Natural Cure and Day Care) in the code, edited some moves, and replaced some Pokemon using PGE. I don't know if that could have made a difference. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm new to all this, so I may be missing something obvious. Thank you!

Go in a Hex editor and go to the bottom of the rom, the "00 00" at the end to replace the wrong ID, it worked many times for me

Since you "solved GH3S", I assume you changed the game code from BPRE to MrDS, correct? If you did so, after opening your ROM in GH3S, change back it's game code to BPRE. The code changing just has to be done one time for setup purposes of GH3S, I think.

THBubbleBuster June 8th, 2016 6:28 AM

I've encountered 3 unlisted errors in this Rom Base that's pretty frustrating seeing as my full rom hack will be completed within the next 2 weeks or so. If possible, please fix them? Or I'll have to remove these moves manually from All of the Pokemon that learn them (very daunting task by the way).

-I inserted Goomy (replacing a Pokemon in the 151 dex, I forgot which), and when I encountered a wild one, it used Protect & the move text kept repeating over & over, making me unable to continue the battle.

-The move 'Tailwind' does nothing, and the animation acts like Bide.

-When encountering a Pokemon with the Snow Warning ability, the text says the wild Pokemon's Snow Warning detected my Pokemon's item (In this case, my Pokemon had on an assault vest). Not anything that would freeze the game, but it's going to be really odd for other players to see that.

And those are just 3 of the problems I have encountered with this base during beta testing. There are probably many more not listed here as well, and I don't want my rom hack filled with unknown move glitches that I should not have to fix or remove manually. Is the creator of this base even working on it still? There has not been any change to the main post since last year. It would be a shame if users inserted this base and worked on it for months thinking it would be updated, only to have it forgotten and filled with bugs that will ruin their hard work.

GerryJoe June 17th, 2016 6:48 AM

Hi! I'd like to point out a couple of bugs I found out.

First, Wake-Up Slap doesn't work accurately. The sleep condition is "removed" so to say, the opponent does attack you, but the icon for the sleep condition remains and you can't inflict it with other statuses.
Next, Moonblast has 40 PP.
Another one I found, Stealth Rock damage says the damage is taken by the mon who used the move, not the mon switching in and effectively taking damage.
Finally, Hi Jump Kick has 10% accuracy for some reason.

Besides these, I've had trouble with Magic Guard, which doesn't do anything against Stealth Rock (Clefairy still takes damage from it).
That's it. Thanks a lot for this hack!

Exodrake June 20th, 2016 11:36 AM

Where are the -ate abilities hooked at in this ROMbase? they are apparently coded differently than the -ate abilities in the ability resource thread. I want to use the latter code because it's easy to expand with my own -ate abilities, but when I implement it it's completely overridden by the old code pre-patched to the rombase. I don't know where to look to remove that. :(

temmaj June 30th, 2016 5:44 AM

Guys I have a question. The name of the abilities are ok, but for example, with overgrow, starts raining. Any solution?

CynicalUnicorn July 17th, 2016 8:01 AM

Have any of these been fixed in 1.5a or not? The changelog indicates the Day Care bug has been fixed, but what about the others? Are the offsets still correct? I'm hesitant to poke at anything just yet.

EDIT: I am so glad I remembered this bug was here. I could not get the Day Care script to work properly, and I thought A-Map had corrupted my ROM until I remembered I never fixed it. The Day Care bug apparently needs to be fixed still if you've patched with 1.5a.

Ayonn- July 18th, 2016 5:24 AM

Is there an update to wait for ?

Volcarona1996 July 18th, 2016 11:22 AM

Hi, I've just noticed a bug with the ability Tinted Lens.

Rather than altering the type matchup against the opponent's type combination, it affects the matchups against the opponent's types individually. For example, when using a bug-type move against a grass/poison type it would normally do normal damage as bug is strong against grass but resisted by poison. Since the matchup overall is neutral, it should not be affected by Tinted Lens. However, bug-type moves are actually super effective against this particular combo. This would also mean that 4x resisted moves would do neutral damage, making the ability way OP. I feel kinda dirty for using Venomoth, so could you please take note of this glitch? Thanks :)

Also, a minor nitpick but the decap isn't entirely perfect. For instance, "RunNING SHOES". I know this isn't an issue for those making a ROM hack for a completely new game, but for side projects of FireRed like the one I'm working on myself it is rather annoying.

Blazing Rud July 31st, 2016 5:39 AM

I have not read upper threads and i dont know if others have posted this bug but when i give gemancy to a balbasaur and start game and when battle with rival gemancy goes on forever and to test out ew moves I gave sucker punch to charmender which means chanmender can never deal damage to my balbasaur because of never ending geomacy og geomancy whatever who cares for spelling. But do someone know how do i fix it???

Drake Baku August 3rd, 2016 3:18 AM

NicolasLukas August 3rd, 2016 4:06 AM

Two questions: What msut be in the .ini to run the rom in G3HS without problems?
What about bugs? Are there any or are they all fixed?

Hi, When I try to use Pokemon Game Editor PGE 3.7 with this, using the new 3.6 ini that gamer2020 posted (as there isnt a new one for 3.7 i don't think) I get an error in the errors.txt: Error! CryTable2 is missing for ROM BPRE!

Checking the ini I find CryTable=48C914

but no CryTable2 entry. Can anyone tell me the hex for this so I can add it?

Edit: If I make the seemingly dirty quick fix of just saying CryTable2=48C914 also, I then get another error: Error! DexSizeTrainerSprite is missing for ROM BPRE!
I can only assume there are a bunch of errors waiting to be detected, and that I have done something basic completely wrong. What am I doing wrong?

Open your roms.ini (PGE)
Go to [BPRE] section
Check at the bottom and copy whatever you need to your MrDollSteak ini (from TradeData in my case)

I have fixed the problems with the PGE pokemon editor but I get an error still with the PGE trade editor: InvalidArgument-Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'
Parameter name: SelectedIndex

Can't find any .ini entries called SelectedIndex so I don't know what to do here. Does the trade editor just not work for this rombase?

Thanks very much for the ini you sent, seems to work fine now, though I'm none the wiser as to why it didn't work before :P

I'm heaving trouble, I've patched the 1.0 rom of firered, but how do you add fairy types exactly? I am very lost at this part, can someone help?

KingJay August 8th, 2016 7:45 AM

I applied the patch to a clean Fire Red Rom, and replaced the .ini file in G3HS with the one provided. When I try to open the rom in G3HS though it works fine at first, but when I load up a Pokemon I get this error message:

"Moves have not been fully loaded because there was an error. Either not enough moves were loaded due to a bad number in the ini or the learned move data offset is bad/corrupted. The error occurred trying to read move #x(changes with each pokemon). The correct number of moves is: 354."

The advice is only for PGE. That means you can make a custom ini for each base you use without modify or swapping the original ini. For other tools you need to use the provided ini in the download and follow the instructions on the first post (those about G3HS compatibility).

After you replace the ini file in G3HS open the ini file find [MrDS] and change that to [0000] and it should work fine.

^That's also for everyone else who wants to use G3HS on the rombase.

Download PGE 3.7
Put your rom (already patched) and the ini i have posted in the same folder.
Rename both files with the same name (like rombase.gba and rombase.ini).
Check if it works.

In order to maximise compatibility with G3HS, I have changed the name of the rom from BPRE to MrDS, this means it WILL NOT WORK in any romhacking tool except for G3HS UNLESS you change it back AFTER opening it in G3HS!

To do this open the rom up in a Hex Editor and change the bytes at 0x0000AC to say BPRE and NOT MrDS.
Can someone help me with this? I'm totally new to this and lost. I'm trying to use Helpless Trainer Editor, so I assume I'm going to have to do whatever is being described here to make it work. I open my patched Rom in the Cygnus hex editor, but I don't see anything that he's talking about. I don't see anything for 0x0000AC, I don't see anything that says MrDS, I have no idea what to actually do here.

Can someone please help guide me through this?

that worked ^^
wondering if i can expend the amount of evolutions i can use in pge?
i am planning to include all known eeveelutions and 3 fakemon ones of own design, but seems pge only has up to 5 evolution slots..
(pge is actually with this the first tool i ever got to work with dollpatch now, the others dont work with it at all as far as i can see)
EDIT: found it in the ini
now just to figure out how to add more evolution types, move based ones
pretty sure i can find something on the forum somewhere

It seems to be corruption caused by G3HS regarding the Egg Move Table. So I would recommend people to not use this feature of the tool.

Navigate to 25F7F2 in your rom and paste in this section of bytes:

Code:

00 00 00 0C 01 11 05 0F 08 00 20 5A 41 08 00 00 00 00
20 5A 41 08 01 00 00 00 C8 61 41 08 05 00 00 00

1C 00 1C 00 1C 00 1C 00 1C 00 1C 00 90 73 00 00

I went to the address pasted the code and still buggy ...
Enter the code manually and nothing to run the day-care
Please, make a 1.6 of the patch with day-care fixed! xD

Do we need to wait for a new update someday or you don't plan any ?

pokefreak890 September 4th, 2016 8:10 AM

Why is there so much hate on this thread? I remember everyone loving and being thankful that such a base exists why is there so much hate for no reason? If you guys have a problem with this patch ask people for help to fix the bugs or figure it out on your own if you guys want a 1.6 patch fix the bugs and then ask MRDS if you can upload it to the thread

Im sure the creator has his reasons and man its for free :P

You have to click CTRL B not CTRL V.

I was planning on making a proper update with new features, but I don't think I will in the end, as I have moved over to Emerald.

Regarding the bugs, most of the game breaking bugs have already been fixed, and those are linked on the original post. Regarding making a 1.6 patch, I suppose if its something demand, the fixes at least I don't really have a problem with that, I'm just very busy and would rather, if I am to spend time hacking, to spend it on the Emerald Battle Engine Update or Pokemon Apollo.

The build I currently have is a somewhat completed 1.6, ie. with the majority of the bugs fixed, but also with some new incomplete moves and features introduced, so it's not really worth releasing. I attempted to add the new Pokeballs but the code wasn't working and removing it is a hassle.

Also I realise that people may be impatient to wait further, and as I know a few people have been wanting to know where various routines are located to replace them (sorry Exodrake I did mean to get around to releasing it earlier) so here is the list of insert locations for the various ASM routines. I will also be adding this to the OP under the Download link. Additionally the general Rombase table offsets has been added there too so that expanding the Soundproof, Bulletproof and Overcoat tables is easier. If I do get around to releasing 1.5b or 1.6 or whatever it will end up being called these will also be included.

If anyone using this information is able to find the fix for any bugs, that would be much appreciated, as more and more seem to be popping up everyday!

Hi MrDollSteak your patch is awesome and I had a question for if you're doing an update that are you going to add the Repel system from BW2. And also are you going to do the next update when the next pokemon game sun and moon come out.

Don't think I will add the repel system. I cannot promise an update by the time Sun and Moon come out. I am discontinuing this project in terms of new features. The only thing I will eventually release is as many bug fixes as can be found. In the mean time as bug fixes come in I will just be adding them to the OP.

Hey, we had talked a couple of years ago about the ability Imposter for Ditto. Do you still have that half figured out, and if so could you release what you have? I'd like to try to give a go at figuring it out myself if the project is being discontinued.

I would like to know, what do you mean with AI is dumb in the bugs section?

the ai only works well with effects that were already in the default game
many people try to remedy this by branching new move effects off of a similar effect in the default section, and this is how many of the current effects were done
there comes a time when this is simply too difficult/stupid to do, and this is where the new effects come in
the ai doesn't know how to handle them, basically

So they end up never using them or what? I mean, if I put Freeze Dry (not sure if implemented) on an enemy Pokemon, he will not use it against my water type?
