My name's NOT RIIICK!!

What do you plan on naming yourself when the games come out?

Are you going to adapt the name of your favorite character? Name them after yourself? How about the name of someone else you know?

As for me, Milk it is. I'm going to be pretty boring this time around I think.

Liberal Army May 25th, 2014 3:40 AM

Since Black 2, I always named my player character Scott. I don't know why though, I don't like to use my real name and I think Scott sounds fine.

Proteun May 25th, 2014 4:17 AM

My name is Teun, and my name stays Teun. When I play a normal game, I use my normal name. (Ow the rhymez)

Hikamaru May 25th, 2014 4:24 AM

I accidentally named myself Terra in the original games, but I'm not gonna do that this time around and continue the tradition I have of naming my character Nichole, after my real name.

LightningAlex May 25th, 2014 4:25 AM

Ever since I started playing Pokemon, I'd name my character "Alex", so I'll stick with that (Not my real name, btw). When I got my first Pokemon game, I just randomly named my character "Alex", and it stuck with me for everything... not just Pokemon games xD

Bobbylicious May 25th, 2014 4:48 AM

I always name my characters after me, which is Jake. I've always found it weird when I play games like this and the character isn't named after me.

Apollo May 25th, 2014 5:39 AM

I always name the characters by their default names. On my original playthrough, my name was Marky, because I found that name cool at the time. :d In the remakes though, I'll most likely name myself Brendan, since it's the default. And the fact that Marky reminds me of my weeb days, haha.

Kikaito plush May 25th, 2014 5:56 AM

Like I have done since pokemon Sapphire I will be naming my character Amy.

PSNGhost May 25th, 2014 6:20 AM

Anthony, because..... that's my name.

KeyDrop May 25th, 2014 7:00 AM

Now I always name my character Drop(abbreviation of my nickname), but when I was younger I used to name my character Matt, an abbreviation of my name, I still use that when I have multiple games of the same generation and region, like if in platinum my name is Drop and I restart pearl I'm gonna use Matt xD
Also when I play as a female character I call her Flaire cause it sounds cool.

Edit:Accidentaly posted the same message twice xD

blue May 25th, 2014 7:04 AM

Since these are remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, it will have to be Brendan/May.

TheGinger63 May 25th, 2014 7:14 AM

Since I'll be getting both, I'll do Nick(my name) for the guy, and May for well, May

SaniOKh May 25th, 2014 8:22 AM

I usually name my player characters with my name (Alex) followed by the version's abbreviated name. So, in this case it will be "Alex OR" and "Alex AS"

Rivvon May 25th, 2014 8:52 AM

I always name my character with my own name.

In regards to Patrick's name not being Rick, however, I kind of hope the nickname feature doesn't return, at least for these games. It works better in Japanese, because some people may affix -san to your name, while your closer friends might add -kun or -chan, but it really doesn't work in English (and quite a few other languages, if I'm not mistaken)--if you have a nickname in English, you want everyone to refer to you by it, not just your close friends (or at least make the feature optional, since it does work out quite well in Japanese).

Iceshadow3317 May 25th, 2014 8:57 AM

I usually name my character Dalex, Daliden, or my real name. When I am playing girl characters, I usually use Skyla, Ayla, Kaitlyn or Ayliana.

Venitardus May 25th, 2014 9:07 AM

If I pick the dude, I'll be using my real name, Joey. If I pick the girl, I'll be using either Kimmy or Summer.

Nah May 25th, 2014 11:51 AM

I'll probably use either Stella or Elsa again. Probably Elsa, so I don't have 2 Stellas in the same generation.

Sonata May 25th, 2014 12:28 PM

I might name myself O'aka. Since I've grown fond of the name lately.

Altairis May 25th, 2014 1:56 PM

I'll be going with my real name this time! n_n Since Hoenn is my favorite region I'll be using well, my favorite name haha.

Tek May 25th, 2014 2:24 PM

My initials are TK, so I'd been using that for a while, but now I use Tek cause it sounds cooler. Or if I like the girl sprite better, I go with Keturah.

See what I did there? Keturah? SEE WHAT I DID?

antemortem May 25th, 2014 2:49 PM

If I'm a boy, it'll be Dave or Brendan, and if I use the female character the name will be May no matter what.

Pepperton May 25th, 2014 3:36 PM

I'll probably name him Troy, after myself. I still haven't decided if I want to play as a female, though, and if I do most likely I'll name her May, because she's my favorite character in the Pokemon series and naming her anything else would be a crime. c: So, in essence, the exact same thing I did in RSE, haha.

SparklingMistral May 25th, 2014 4:00 PM

My name's Audra, so that's what I'll name myself in the games.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire May 25th, 2014 5:26 PM

Think I'll choose Ruby or maybe Rey (king) this time around.

Btw someone earlier mentioned Scott. It has happened to me yet but it'll be weird to be named the same as a NPC...(as Scott will proably appear like Eusine did in HgSs).

Dustmop May 27th, 2014 1:01 AM

More than likely it'll be Alessa.
Like I've been using for most games for the past several years. I've grown quite fond of it as a nickname. :3

I wasn't aware this was a mutual feeling amongst all English speakers.
I don't want strangers calling me by my nicknames. I want them to address me by my proper name. Nickname privileges are reserved for close friends/family only.

Now granted, I didn't really care for that feature (was entirely neutral on it since I skipped most of the gushy "I'm so glad we're friends" dialogue anyway) but just sayin', not everybody feels that way about their names. :P
