Trust me I'd love to have a queen sized bed but there is no way it would fit in my room with all of my other stuff xD

Huh, they're not that expensive here. I bought what I'm 90% sure was a stolen mattress from a lady who had an entire shed full of them, and it was only $100 (which taking into account economies of scale would probably be like $40 in America lol)

That was 100% satire, though they aren't inexpensive by any means. One of the cheaper queen sets from Sears goes for upwards of $300 but that's brand new and excellent quality so of course you're gonna get what you've paid for in that case.

Sears reminds me of the Costco in Idiocracy. You know, have a 2,000 square foot floorspace dedicated to red velvet couches, sell law degrees, hire a man at the front door to say "Welcome to Costco, I love you". That old chestnut.

I don't know what you're talking about but damn that sounds awesome

As someone who just did price research on queen beds to buy one, that estimate is off - they're significantly more. A high quality queen bed will run you over 1000 bucks, and anything around 500 is a steal. I was looking to pay in that range and there was literally one mattress in every store in my price range. Keep in mind that the boxspring is another 150 as well and you've got quite a lot.

I've only got a king sized single

/shot

Shining Raichu June 23rd, 2014 7:47 AM

Oryx if I were you I'd just buy the mattress and get the rest of the bed later lol

Tsutarja June 23rd, 2014 7:48 AM

When my brother lived at home with my family, all he slept on was a mattress with a frame, and not an actual bed.

Shining Raichu June 23rd, 2014 7:52 AM

I'm confused... I thought mattress + frame = bed

Maybe you need a headboard. Sheets would be useful, too. Also, pillows.

antemortem June 23rd, 2014 10:44 AM

Headboard? Never understood those. Just put it up against a wall.

infranto June 23rd, 2014 10:53 AM

I thought headboards were just for show in movies and stuff lol. I didn't realise people actually use them. *facepalm*

Since when does mashing together some wood, cloth and springs cost so much?

Likewise. I don't really even get why having anything other than a mattress on the floor is all that desirable lol.

isthatyoudan June 23rd, 2014 1:06 PM

I think headboards are more for vanity. Of course you don't technically need them, but it makes the bed prettier than just having a mattress on the floor. Also, some of them have shelves for holding stuff, y'know. Those headboards are cool and useful.

Oryx June 23rd, 2014 1:56 PM

I need one, but I'm rhe exception and I don't need it YET - I have baseboard heating and I need to make sure nothing falls on thr baseboards or else things will catch on fire and I will die.

That's the exception though, not the rule.

Well, it's not necessarily a bed; the mattress just sits on a box frame and nothing more. It doesn't have a headboard nor a footboard.

..they make footboards too?

I'm obviously too poor for all of this.

I think it's the part at the end of the bed where your feet rest. My bed has one haha

antemortem June 23rd, 2014 3:15 PM

My mother's bad has one of those actually. Convenient for sitting and not much else

Shining Raichu June 23rd, 2014 3:17 PM

As a kid I just had a mattress and base, none of this fancy headboard stuff :P

Sonata June 23rd, 2014 4:37 PM

I have an old bed frame that's 150 years old. That's the only reason that I have foot or headboards.

Shining Raichu June 23rd, 2014 5:21 PM

Literally 150 years old like an olden time pilgrim type thing?

antemortem June 23rd, 2014 5:25 PM

I don't think 150 years extends to that age!
