Palette error - not safe to save in APE

I'm trying to replace palettes in APE (Advance Palette Editor) but I get sometimes colors with red blocks at the back of their numbers: http://prntscr.com/3ob9s2

and it tells me that it's not safe to change the palette and when I change it the game freezes on the moment you're suppose to see the palette change.

Can anyone help me fix that? or tell me different tool for changing palettes in Emerald.

That value is an invalid colour. Where are you getting it from? It can't be used in a palette.

Almost every sprite I want to change. I'm trying to change the hero sprite right now

So what am I supposed to do? not be able to change palettes?

Why do you want to insert the value 1CCB? Where are you getting that number from?

This one red was an exmaple but I'm trying to change the hero sprite which has a lot of red invalid colors that I can't change and if I change it warns me that it's not safe and the game freezes at that point of the palette

Well, you're probably editing the wrong palette then. How are you getting these palettes' offsets?

Shachar700 May 31st, 2014 1:10 PM

from Unlz Gba, palette offset or image offset.

The only things I could think of causing this would be a) you're just using the wrong palette or b) you need to check or uncheck LZ77 compression on APE, but I don't know if that would be it.

Thank you so much! I checked the LZ77 compression and no more red blocks. thank you so much! :D

I had the same problem, there should be some 00's where there shouldn't be. The game seems to ignore them, but APE doesn't.
I edited the palette in a hex editor, and just left the 00's alone. You can load up your new palette in APE to see the hex numbers you need to change to.

Edit:
Checking the LZ77 compression didn't work for me, but good thing it worked for you.
