It would be nice if there weren't any shiny models for legendary Pokémon, considering that they're only one-of-a-kind.
Though, I'm not exactly sure if this has to do anything with breaking games and whatnot. From what I understand, they seem to have some sort of function within which generates shiny versions of each and every Pokémon; if they wanted to make legendaries an exception, they probably could have, but I'm not exactly sure if they had put much thought into it. Only a minority seem to pay attention to things like this, though (I suppose I could be put into this category), so it's not that big of a deal. |
I just wish that Gamefreak would do something with the shiny sprites, since if they never wanted the to be accessible they could have just made the shiny sprite look exactly the same as the normal one. I doubt that there is something ingame that checks to see if the sprites are different, it just pulls whichever sprite Gamefreak assigned it to be "shiny." However, there haven't been any Shiny Victini events that I know of, so their existence is still a bit disappointing.
|
I'm not particularly fond of shiny Victini, sadly, so to me, it's not that much of a huge deal. Though, I'm sure there are many out there who like it, so for them, it'd definitely be nice if such an event had ever existed.

It's not terrible, but there's something not quite there about Shiny Victini. Like a color is slightly off or something, I'm not sure. |

I think I may like it if it was more red instead of orange, but I'm not sure. All I know is the white is alright but it doesn't go with the orange at all.
|
Yeah, I have to agree with above. Speaking of which, if you were given a chance to alter shiny form of any Pokémon, which would it be and how would you make it look?
Me--it would probably have to be Victini, due to reasons stated above. Aside from that, I'm not so sure, haha. Probably Venusaur, so that it would be looking a little more dark and whatnot. Maybe not dark, but I would likely give it a different shade of green, so that every aspect of its body would seem complementing. |
I'd say I'd alter Tyranitar. Given it's a Dark-type, I'd give its shiny form a look that fits it more. I'm thinking sort of a shiny Haxorus look, but maybe not exactly as to save redundancy.
|
Speaking of Haxorus, this is definitely one Pokémon I would change things up with.
When I'd first seen it, I immediately thought as if it was a bug-type (due to its body size and color-combination), and its shiny form looked even more so. If I were given the chance, what I would do is give this Pokémon more bulk, so that it would seem more like a dragon-type. Alongside, I'd also remove its grey coloring, and make it green completely. Same applies for its shiny. |
Feels weird having every legendary ever...I feel kind of godlike. Anyone else feel this way when they got all the legendaries?
|
I would have altered Mega Audino's shiny to be pink now that I've discovered it's as lazy of a shiny coloring as Garchomp is. Such a missed opportunity in my opinion, it's basically the same color as normal Mega Audino except having yellow eyes instead of red.
|
Yeah, Audino being pink would be pretty adorable. If its body structure were a little more short, though, I feel that it'd wind up looking sort of similar to Clefable, but thanfully, it isn't!

It is weird to think about, haha. When I have these legendary Pokémon but they usually never come out of the PC, in fact I even read somewhere that someone thought it'd be irresponsible to have said Pokémon in your PC given what they're supposed to do.
|
I definitely get plenty of use out of mine. When I'm feeling down, I just sweep through people in free battle with my perfect legends~
|
Aside from those that aren't banned to Ubers, I never find myself using any legendary out-of-game, sadly (such as when having matches online).
While using overly-powerful legendaries--Lugia, Groudon, and Mewtwo, for example--when I was younger, it always felt as if I have some upper-hand of sorts, which wound up making me feel guilty and unskilled, so to speak. Due to that, I found myself avoiding most of them whenever possible. Now that I'm into competitive battling and kind of understand how things go, I have more of an actual reason as to why I shouldn't be using some of these Pokémon. |
I was using uber legendaries like Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Palkia and Dialga fairly regularly in normal plays, but I didn't realize until after a while from a certain YouTube user that they make things not as exciting. So when I first caught Giratina in Platinum I didn't use it, although I have used Ho-Oh and Lugia in HGSS just as filler.
|
Yeah, using legendaries does help reduce excitement, considering how powerful they are and how easy these Pokémon make things out to be.
So, for another topic--has any of us ever replaced your starter Pokémon in-game, before completing story? If so, what's your story? For me, last time it's happened was in my second run of Pokémon Platinum, if I remember correctly; wound up choosing Turtwig, but gave it to my friend soon after for Gyarados. It was sort of tough to control the Pokémon at first, thanks to it being high-leveled and me not having sufficient gym badges, but thankfully, that eventually stopped. |
I replaced my Snivy is Pokemon Black, as it wasn't really as useful as I was expecting it to be. I ended up swapping it for a Sandile, which turned out to be a lot more beneficial to my awful Black team. I didn't really like the 5th gen starters, I only picked Snivy because of the Smugleaf meme thing going around at the time. xD
In Black 2 I picked Oshawott, ran with it for about half the game, then went and got myself a Vaporeon instead. I've just never found the 5th gen starters to be very useful...plus they're all ugly as sin =P |
In normal playthroughs, no, I always keep the starter.
But in challenges, I have abandoned my starter before, even if I was able to use it on my final team. One of my more recent plays of X had me leaving behind my Frogadier as I had already used Greninja in two plays in a row, but I had only chosen Froakie because it was of my specific color, so I had to. Likewise with a Pignite I had in Black 2, I had to take it because of typing but dropped it relatively early. |
I never replace any of my starters on my teams. This is because I treat them as the leaders of the teams. To replace them, in my eyes I would feel like I am dishonoring them. I would not want to dishonor Delta (my Blastoise in Blue), Galvatron (my Feraligatr in Soul Silver), Revan (my Swampert in Sapphire), Napoleon (my Empoleon in Platinum), Durendal (my Samurott in White), John Rambo (my Samurott in White 2), or Enterprise (my Greninja in X).

Dude. That is all kinds of awesome. xD ...watch me call my Latias "Voyager" in Omega Sapphire when I get it now... |

I keep my starter for the most part. The only time I didn't was when I did a random challenge where people picked a team for me and I didn't have a starter.
