GTS Liars

Has anyone else ran into this? I just traded away one of three Enteis I have to a guy for a 6 iv ditto. Too good to be true.

Another thing, people want some ridiculous things for crap. I can see why the online community has sprouted with forums like this to trade.

The GTS is going to be full of people like that, I tend to use the GTS to deposit Pokémon rather than search for them - much higher success rate.

At the end of the day, if you're wanting anything with 6IVs or whatever, realistically you're better off just training your own.

I never trust people on the GTS. Assuming I can even find a reasonable trade on there, I never have high expectations of the Pokemon I'll be recieving.

I rarely use GTS, so nope, I, fortunately, haven't. Every time I'm up for some trade, I always do it with somebody I know, or set up these kind of things on message boards like this once, since they're a lot more reliable. Though, I could imagine scammers like this to be pretty frustrating; have had to deal with them a bunch of times in real life, haha.

Quidsin is right, the best way is to offer something and ask for what you want rather than looking for it. And never bother looking for IVs, just try to get the pokemon itself.

What makes it even worse is all the people on Miiverse who are not allowed to share Friend Codes and trade directly. It's easy for anyone and everyone, you and me included, to hijack a trade. Or to trade a hacked Pokémon and make the other trader upset when (s)he finds out it's hacked.

I saw someone on Miiverse state he was trading a 6IV Shiny Latias he received himself in a trade. I said right away that it's a hack, as just encountering one would have a 1 in 879 TRILLION chance. I later convinced him to connect with me via a GTS trade, but the Latias wouldn't go over the GTS. He set up a Fletchling for Fletchling trade. This at first got hijacked as someone beat me to it, so he set up another. This time we connected, and I sent his Fletchling back to take a look at the Latias.

The trader did a good job disguising it, in fact. It was encountered in Johto, no doubt as either the wandering Latias or the Event Latias that was limited-time. However, it was clear that the Latias could not be anything but a hack as, while it COULD be Shiny, just the perfect IVs were unlikely. Further, he caught it in a Fast Ball, which has a low catch rate on Latias. It even had Ribbons; one for Hall of Fame, the other some Ribbon I don't remember hearing of before. You might have thought it was legit...until you looked up the Trainer's OT on Youtube. He has a video about trying to hack a Hoopa, and a history of hacked Pokémon.

I claimed the Leftovers from the Latias and got back in touch on Miiverse to send the scammed trader two Enigma Berries, which I finished growing that evening. I said plant them, water them, and keep growing them because you won't find their trees. After insisting I didn't have to, I said no, you got scammed and I'm a generous guy. He did accept them.

@the OP's second statement:
That is true. I've seen people request a Pokemon along the likes of Rayquaza for an Eelektross.
