Reversing the Charges ~ The Inverse Battles

So, did anyone remember that house on Route 18, where you meet someone who challenges you to a different kind of battle - a 'Inverse Battle'?

http://www.serebii.net/xy/inverse.jpg

It's sort of weird at first, but easily adaptable! Basically, type advantages and disadvantages are reversed, like for example, normally water type moves are super effective against fire type pokemon, but in here, they are not-very effective, and vice versa, fire type moves are super effective against water pokemon. The trainer here battles with new pokemon every day, and supposedly, they're EV trained (at least I think so).

So! Did you enjoy the challenge here? What did you think about this concept of inverse battle? How long did it take you to adapt to this new style? Would you mind it if inverse battles were implemented more in future pokemon games? Feel free to share all thoughts!

Whilst I enjoy the challenge, it has been 16 years of "Water > Fire > Grass", etc-

so the Inverse battles feel to me exactly like this

It was hella complicated. >.>
I just spammed Swords Dance on my Arceus and killed his 'mons with Extremespeed. -,-

I tended to forget that neutral damage became super-effective (right? or am I remembering wrong... something like that) and I'm pretty sure I lost a couple times before I ever won. It's a very interesting concept though I doubt I'd ever become really keen at it.

Neutral damage remains neutral, the main thing of concern here is that immunities turn into weaknesses so for example, it makes a Flying-type weak to Ground. But if you thought Psychic-types in 1st Gen were gods, wait until you see inversed Normal-type... it hits everything unresisted, so yeah they surely become the true overpowered type.

Also, Inver having competitive-like movesets, EV training and held items shows he's a competitive trainer in disguise albeit much more threatening if you have the wrong team.

I loved them! :) It really made me test myself to see just how well I knew all my types :) Not to mention, in a game where a lot of the supposedly challenging aspects weren't as difficult as previous games (some of the Gym Leaders etc. I mean) it was really refreshing having that part in X/Y for those who wanted an extra optional challenge :)

It was easy for me to figure out if my Pokemon would be weak or strong against its opponent, but I wasn't sure if attack types that normally didn't hit at all (such as Ghost against Normal and vice versa) still hit or what. Took me a bit to realize they were super effective; afterward it was easy for me to remember. Anyway, I love this concept and really wish it could've been utilized more in-game like Triple/Rotation battles were in BW/BW2. I definitely hope Inverse battles make a return to future games. (Heck, it'd be pretty neat if a Gym Leader or Pokemon League member or important person utilized them.)

I thought Inverse Battles were really fun, and it really caught me by surprise when I found out that Inver uses EV trained stuff and even held items. That's not something you see every day! They're like interesting mind games and can catch you by surprise, but I like them. I really hope that ORAS includes them, too.

I've actually liked it. It was getting sort of repetitive with the same old type-effectiveness concept, so it was pretty nice to see things swapped. It's not that tough to figure out which type is super-effective against which in inverse-battling--well, at least for some people--but it does take time and make you think, which, if you ask me, is one of its most entertaining parts. It would've been nice if this system made it into the main story-line; it could've lent a huge hand. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, which, in some way, seems like a wasted opportunity to me. Oh well; there could be plenty more generations ahead of us, so we still have time!

I think Zygarde's mega evolution/order forme is going to do something like this! It would make sense: ground will hit yveltal for SE damage, dragon would hit Xerneas for SE damage.
