Do you still play the fifth generation games?
Do you guys still play through the fifth generation games? If not do any of you have plans to replay through them, be it for a specific challenge (Nuzlockes, etc) or just to experience Unova again? If you do play through them is there anything you hope to do differently from past playthroughs? Or have you set your copies of B/W and B/W2 on the shelf permanently? Chat chat!
Oh yes, sometimes I do! I can't lie, I absolutely enjoy the storyline from the Pokemon Black and White games, and they're always fun to re-visit them for general time-killing! Occasionally I do like doing challenges there too, like recently I've done a 'basic' challenge where I didn't evolve any pokemon, nor catch any pokemon that doesn't evolve. It was pretty fun! <33
Maybe I'll catch up on B/2/W2 sometime, because I did like the post-game stuff with it, with the White Forest / Black City challenge, and the World Championship Tournament, battlin' all those gym leaders and such! Though the problem is the lack of EV trained pokemon for that, ugh. |
I'm still playing it! :D I played some remake of the fifth generation and I did all the fifht generation's game (B,W,B2 and currently playing W2).
I admit I'm not playing so often because I'm too into the sixth generation :) But I still play it sometime and use it for the trades!! (to complete my pokedex) |
Oh yes, definitely. If you didn't see my blog on them I posted yesterday, you'd know that it's my favorite generation, and the sequels are still my favorite games in the series. A month ago I completed a Wedlocke challenge on my second copy of White 2, with Challenge Mode, a level limit and no bag items in battle. 14 deaths, half of them were after Colress in the Plasma Frigate and two were against Iris. It was really fun, because I got to use some awesome Pokémon which really did work. And I did one on White before then without the item restrictions, that was fun too but not as much as White 2 was.
Now i'm doing a Red Mono-Color on White for my Ultimate challenge there, just so I could give BW a chance for a Mono since i've done BW2 so many times. I even just bought another copy of Black 2 at Wal-Mart the other day so I could have a copy of it to have Challenge Mode for. :P |
Haven't played it recently, but after defeating both games the first time, I've replayed them with different starter choices and completely switched up teams. There's so many new Pokemon in Unova, having six in a team wasn't enough to hold all the ones I wanted to try out. I think right now I'm around the fourth gym in Black, and around the second gym in White 2. I have a bad, bad habit of restarting Pokemon games and leaving them unfinished as I start a new run of a different game n__n;
I still play the games from time to time, but only for challenges--in fact, I played Black 2 a few months ago for a challenge I posted up. I'll also touch them when I need to transfer Pokemon, so there's that, too~ That being said, I never got through my English copy of White 2 and haven't done any of the post-game content in my Japanese White 2 and English Black 2 (even before resetting for the challenge), so I may attempt to do that at some point. Black I'm done with and won't even reset either cartridge because I love my teams (plus, why would I play through my Japanese Black again when I don't understand what's being said?) and White I started a Normal mono on but haven't gotten through yet.
I usually go on my White 2 game for transferring Pokemon to my Y game, but my main team is still on it. I'm still working through the White Treehollow, too.
On a side note, I really enjoyed playing through White 2, the post game was much better than Pokemon X and Y. |
As of right now, no because I am working on my dex in X. I really love the fifth generation games though. I am definitely going to go back and play through them again.
Absolutely. I've been replaying Black and trying to complete the Pokedex in Black 2 (:
Yeah I just restarted Black recently after finally purchasing Black 2 and remembering that interacting with a completed Black save file does something (Can't remember what).
Absolutely furious they've done away with all wi-fi capabilities on a two year-old game that I haven't even used yet though. All pokémon games seem unique from eachother, but Black to me was almost like my first game again, as I deliberately avoided all spoilers that didn't tell me how to get Zorua (unlike HgSs where I spent so much time on Serebii I knew pretty much everything about the game without playing it), and with the whole 151 new pokémon thing the challenge was to complete the pokédex, making it like if I'd gotten LeafGreen when it was new and had friends to play with (never did get Landorus but meh). |
I still play Black 2 occasionally. Sadly for me, I fell behind the march of the Pokemon franchise a little, and Nintendo shut down the Wi-Fi service right as I finally finished training the last Pokemon in my competitive lvl100 team :( I've played less since then.
Now I'm playing a lot of ROM hacks as of late, filling the void until I get a 3DS to play X or Y, and soon the Sapphire/Ruby remakes. |
I've done all sorts of challenges in these games (Nuzlocke on both, a PMT for Black 2) and I plan to take some other challenges like monocolor/monotype in the future. White 2 is my favorite game in the series, too, so sometimes I've played just for fun with no challenge.
I actually was playing Black 2 earlier this year, but I forgot to save after I beat Team Plasma and I was sent back to right before I entered the Giant Chasm, so I ragequit the game for a while haha. I definitely plan on finishing the game, though, plus transferring all my Pokemon (several boxfuls o.e) over to XY so I can restart either Black or White over again :)
I always play the first ever Pokémon game I received and then progress through the following generations soon after. I usually do this before a new game comes out, such as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in November.
I plan on restarting my White cause my Zekrom is stuck in the Dream World
Yes, I do, regularly, yes. A lot. Granted I CHEAT a lot but I play it a lot lmao
I just can't stay away from these games for too long tbh. I like starting all the way over in Black and White and make my way up to Black 2 and White 2. I've lately been taking a few monotype runs through it all, too. The games are just so awesome and unique that I can't help but play. |
heck no i don't. I like the kalos region
From time to time, I still do, yes. I've really enjoyed playing original Pokémon Black and White, so I decide to give them new runs every once in a while just so I could relive. Currently, I'm on a third White run; so far, it's going phenomenal. My current team consists of Breloom, Metang, Emboar, Staravia, Snorlax, and Gyarados, and these Pokémon are able to perform with each other pretty well. I do have two flying-types here, but that doesn't exactly matter; Metang is able to cover their weaknesses pretty easily, and same goes for Emboar.
As for Black 2 and White 2, I haven't finished either of them yet, sadly, but am trying to get one done bit-by-bit! I'm up to the last gym right now, so have only few other things left to get done before story is officially over. Very excited! |
No doubt, I re-play Black 2 all the time; after all, it is my favorite game in the series. Perhaps it can be ascribed to the fact that 5th gen was my favorite generation, but I never get tired of playing Black 2.
Now, Black on the other hand, I was never too fond of. Having such a small selection of Pokemon to choose from really turns me away from the game, much like the original Gameboy games. |
I did complete a monotype run on my Black 2 a few months ago (which was my 2nd playthrough of Black 2). Besides that, I haven't played much of the 5th gen since X/Y came out. But sometime I plan on doing the post-game stuff Black 2 has to offer.
I'm also getting the urge to replay my White. Just haven't had the time to because of work and the backlog of other games I'm playing. Not to mention the nostalgia held on that file....which is at 600 hours, which is btw, my longest recorded playtime on a single save file in a Pokemon game. |
No, and good riddance too. I hate the Gen 5 games for a plethora of reasons and don't find them enjoyable. Usually I just fire up X/Y or Emerald when I feel like playing Pokémon.
I still play it when I get bored of playing the Kalos region.
No, I don't. I usually stop playing a Pokémon game when the next is released and may only use it to transfer Pokémon to a newer game. I mainly played in the Join avenue in White 2 anyway and the Wifi shutdown made it a lot less interesting to play. Also, I generally never restart my games, especially not White 2. It has medals I will not be able to get again (some online play and Dream World medals).
Of course. The fifth generation is the latest Pokemon games I have, and one of the best too in my opinion, so I'll keep playing it (and previous generations) until a 3DS and X/Y (or if I wait long enough, OR/AS) somehow falls into my grasp. So far, I've completed White 2 as well as Black 2 all the way up to finishing White Treehollow and Black Tower and obtaining the shiny dragons. I might try doing a challenge in the future just to see how it goes.
Yep, I still play them. I recently finished the Game of Life challenge on White 2 and I'm planning on doing another challenge on White :)
They're really fun to do challenges on! |
I haven't played my copy of White since I completed it for the first time, but I might go back soon to catch more Pokemon to transfer over to X and Y. There isn't much of a post-game iirc, but maybe that's because I didn't explore much after defeating the Elite Four. I'll probably return to the games soon.
I found Generation V to be my least favorite generation. It was boring and nothing was interesting.
I haven't found time to replay my 5th Gen games yet, but who knows maybe I will find time to play them again if I get bored with X anytime soon. 5th Gen will always be a true fave in my opinion so no surprise if I do go back to playing it.
Generation 5 is actually my overall favorite generation, alongside generation 3. I find myself replaying them quite often, particularly the Blaze Black and Volt White hacks. Those are utterly fantastic and remove any problems I have with Generation 5 as a whole.
On occasions I do play my Unova teams, I can't abandon them either.
I do for challenges. Unova is actually a pretty great region to play a monotype in (which is the challenge I primarily do), since all of the types are well-represented in both BW and B2W2. Also, Audino grinding is a lot more fun and easier than training at Mt. Silver in GSC/HGSS o.o
Yeah, since BW/2 is some of may favorite Pokemon Games. The battle animations, story, Pokemon World tournament, Challenge Modes, and awesome music just keep bringing me back.
I don't get around to playing my 3DS much so... not really. But, I literally like replay them in my head, if that's weird, whenever I feel like I want to escape to another world. Like Unova's been my fav region forever, and in my head I just replay the whole thing over, or just reimagine the journey, or just listen to music or look up pics of the game randomly, just so I feel back into the journey. I am weird yes. C:
But yes I will replay them in actuality at some point but I don't want to restart all the special memories ;_; |
I just got a White 2 last week. I'm yet to start it though.
Gen 5 happens to be my favorite gen to play Challenges in. BW2 in particular are fantastic! I've probably played more challenges in gen 5 than any other gen, although FRLG set comes a close second. Something about Unova is just perfect for Challenges. Maybe it's the linear nature of the region, maybe it's the story line that is actually interesting and not totally mind numbing to sit through. Hell, maybe it's the extremely streamlined battle system, that's actually quicker than XY. Point is, I love these games, and probably won't stop playing them for a long time.
I'll come around and play it again when I feel like it. I just finished up my White 2 playthrough with a NASCAR-based team, and I want to do it again with a different starter. Also, 5th gen is my 2nd favorite generation, so I'll probably end up playing it over and over.
I haven't played them in well over a year, I think. I've been wanting to replay my White Version for a while but I usually just keep playing XY or I replay the other games. Gen V was probably my least favorite but I still like it in some ways and want to give it more chances, because I've only played the games maybe three times, meanwhile I'm already on my fourth playthrough of XY.
Absolutely not and will not unless a remake is made on the 3ds. A lot of people liked these games but they just felt weird to me I didn't even finish b2. The sprites is the one thing I could not stand they just hurt my eyes, they were so pixelated that pokemon red was looking good. That's just my opinion.
I tried playing W2 after I got bored with X & Y but I just couldn't get into it. By the time I got to Castelia City I realized I was completely bored with this game as well. I was never a huge 5th gen fan anyway so I guess that's why.
Considering I sold my copy, no. I always regret selling my Pokemon games afterwards. You think one day I would learn not to :/
I've never restarted my Black or White 2 games because I think after playing solidly through two Unova games in succession when they were released I kind of had my fill of them, plus if I ever get the urge to play through an earlier generation game its usually 4th gen, I just prefer the stories etc. on those games.
Nowadays I'll only really play 5th gen to catch legendaries I didn't know about but that's not to say I'll never replay either game, it's just with ORAS coming up and my preference for the other generations it'll probably be a long time before I get the urge to do so. |
Answering the main question (duh).
Honestly I've beaten only 6 Gyms at my first White playthrough and I decided to end here, so yeah I don't play the 5th Gen anymore. It's my least favorite Gen and my least favorite region. |
Well, I actually just picked up my Black 2 version today, because it turns out I hadn't finished my replay of it! I think I was close to being done, then I fell asleep without saving my 3DS and I didn't want to redo fighting Team Plasma so I put the game down for a long time, haha.
I wanted to explore Unova again but my Black 2 save file corrupted, so I started a new save file on White 2 (even though it's my lesser fave of the sequels) and now I have 5 Gym Badges and training up for Skyla.
I might usually play it when I get bored with my X. |
Yup, I still play them too. Im planning to do a nuzloke on Black 2 :P
It's been nearly two years since I played a gen v game. Aside from a few Pokemon I find cool, I don't really think too highly of gen v.
I haven't in about a year or so. I lost my White copy and haven't been motivated to get a new one haha. I might give them a go again soon, but it will be after I play through ORAS.
So I pulled out my main White 2 version earlier today, and decided to bust out one of my Black 2 copies (the one I did Time Warp on last month, that I did the after-game stuff not documented here) and do some Funfest missions. Since I had none completed on that Black 2 version, I was able to get in some nice opportunities. I did a whole bunch, and got my Black Entree Level on the Entralink from Level 19 to Level 30 in the course of one evening. I still have my White Entree Level to take care of, which is only Level 10 but I have another White 2 version that's untouched with the Entralink so I can take that up and hopefully work my way up from there, not to mention my main game still has a few unfinished levels to take. I will get that White Card. Just shows the game still has its charm to me (:
I'm still playing through post game on my copy of black2 and catching legendaries and getting some pokemon to transfer over to my copy of x. :3
I've never played it :)
But it's patiently waiting in my desk for me to finish the Soulsilver :D |
Nope! Mainly because the 5th Generation is pretty boring.
I played it long time ago and after i finish the game, i straightly delete the ROM without thinking...i'm trying to download it again and experience back the Unova region...i can't wait to play it again (i'm currently downloading it)..
I'm sure I will replay Gen V sometime, as it was my first generation, but I was going to replay White 2 solely for the Pokedex, but I was unmotivated and I still haven't replayed White 2. I've beaten the Pokemon League on both Black 2 and White, so those files won't be deleted, making Black and White 2 the only Gen V games I would replay.
I might have to if I wanna get that Shiny Haxorus. A few pokémon might be tricky to get since I've transfered all my important ones already.
Just ran back through White and then Black 2 as a bit of a time-killer. I have to say, while the Gym Leaders and Plasma as a whole were great, it's just not holding up to repeat playthroughs as well as some of the other generations. Kinda says something that I put it down for a couple days and nearly forgot I had a file in progress.
So yes, I have, but probably not again. |
Hmm well the games were o..k... my least fav was prob sinnoh but this is second I do go back to get some shinies cause I have a shiny charm in the games and I go back for some challenges but not as much as the other games the storyline kinda bored me
I've just recently finished another playthrough of White 2. It's fun once in a while, especially after playing X for a long time. Also I haven't even finished all the Pokewood minigames so there's still a couple things to do.
Well, sort of. I completed Black 2 today finally for the first time, at least, I beat the Pokemon League. I don't really plan to do any of the post-game, besides maybe revisit it in a while and get legendaries and such. I also didn't complete the post-game for White, because at the time I beat it I was still working on completing my National Dex in SoulSilver, and shortly after that X&Y came out and then I played through X up until the League and put it down to finish the natdex. Finally when I got that done I started to finish up playing through B2, but it'll be a while before I bother with the postgames of either. I'm transferring the 1k+ pokemon I had in my 4th gen boxes to 5th gen and then to X right now, so beating them enough to get to the transfer lab was necessary. Someday I'll go back, but probably not soon.
I'm actually going to play my White2 game again after I finish Pokemon Y, mainly because every now and then it's fun to play the previous Pokemon games, and also to kill time while waiting for ORAS. :3
But I'm looking forward nonetheless to play the Generation 5 game(s) again actually ^_^ |
Yes! As a matter of fact, I tend to go back to previous generations simply because I found X and Y to be rather lacking in content. The 5th gens are the ones I return to the most. Right now, I'm trying to get complete everything in Black 2, from the Medals to finishing all of the Pokéstar Studio movies. Not only it helps kill some time, but it's also really fun! Especially collecting all of the Pokémon. Collecting these elemental creatures is more fun than it is in X and Y.
I may replay Black 2 someday (Black is a storage game, so it won't ever get replayed again unless I decide to go dex-filling when I replay Black 2) for a Challenge or something, but it won't be for a while yet I imagine. I didn't mind Gen V, but I'm in no hurry to revisit it.
I still do! These were the games that made me love Pokemon again after many years of not really playing or even thinking about it.
The only thing stopping me from replaying through Black again is that I have a Victini that, yes I can transfer off, but I can't have a Victini in game again after that -- and that makes me a sad master of illusions :( |
Nah, not really, but I'm planning to play Pokemon Black 2 soon, maybe do some Shiny hunting. :D
Favourite generation so I guess I'm bound to get back into it sooner or later. xD |
Still playing it. After having Pokemon black way back since it came out, I still haven't gotten 1 Pokemon to lvl 100!!! I restarted the game well over a dozen times already!
I finished Black 2 and have the save file. Finished Platinum and Currently playing Heartgold to then transfer all of the pokemon to Black 2 and then to X and then to AS -_-
... Yeah. But I didn't play 4th nor 5th gen before so... |
Gen V games are actually among my highest replayed Pokemon games. Right behind RSE even, and if you know me, you know I replay RSE 2-3 times a year so...that's a lot, haha. I haven't played them in a while though with the Wifi being taken away, Pokecheck being down (so no reason to RNG really), etc. I've been thinking about them a lot lately and need to give Unova another playthrough sometime soon. :) I'll always make time to revisit Unova. It's not my favorite region, but I find the Unova games to be really fun, the battle scenes and sprites are nice, and it's just fun to go through. I find they have a much higher replay value than XY, personally.
Gen V is just a tad too slow for me when I want to do Challenges, so I stick to what I'm used to: Gens 1-3 and sometimes 4. If it played a little faster, I wouldn't mind all the Pokemon I don't particularly like.
Short answer: no |
I play Gen V for my challenges, but I rotate between Gen I, II, III, IV, V & VI. So it all depends which Gen I feel like playing :P
I used to play Gen V so many times doing the challenges; but now, I find that going through the dialog again and again on every restart makes the process boring. I still have those games, but I'm not playing them very much these days.
Im replaying through my white and Soft Resetting for a shiny Cobalion
No I no longer play it. B/W is my least favourite Pokemon game/gen. I didn't even get to the 8th gym before I got bored. I guess it's because I didn't like the new pokemon they added into gen v. I traded in masses of Pokemon I wanted to actually train and play with.
I don't like Fifth Gen pokemon that much. Cuz they look too cartoony to me. But yeah the story and it's execution was amazing. And who can forget all those rich new environments!
I don't, although I easily still have access to them. The only reason I'd still pick up my Gen V games these days is to either breed within those games, or just transfer to Gen VI.
I'm playing Blaze Black 2 cause I still haven't finished it O_O; Hopefully I'll have enough money saved by the time I finish it to get AS or I'm going to play Platinum, which I have yet to even play.
Nah. After I beat White I gave it and my DS to a little boy I saw playing Gameboy.
Nope. I actually lost my copy of White and White 2. I can't find them anywhere. I probably lost them while on vacation somewhere since I tend to take a lot of games with me on vacations. But you know what? Even if I did have them, they would probably just stay on the shelf. They were my least favorite games, and I don't have an interest in playing them at all really.
