TC's Speed Breeding Challenge!
TC's Speed Breeding Challenge! Welcome to TC's Speed Breeding Challenge! Are you a fast, efficient pokémon breeder? Do you consider yourself the best? Test your skills and crown yourself in TC's Speed Breeding Challenge as PC's fastest pokémon breeder! The challenge will run from July 9 through July 11 with one round per day. A pokémon will be announced at 12 PM EDT and you'll have until 12 AM EDT to post your entry. You will be able to do everything without trading, using version exclusives, pokémon bank and the likes. Only a regular run though the games is needed. Rules:
Example: Pokémon: Skrelp Nature: Naughty Ability: Poison Point Pokéball: Premier ball Egg moves: Haze, Play Rough, Venom Drench TM: Frustration Sign up forms: Username: FC: OT: Judges: Omicron, Necrum, Keiran. Spoiler:
Background by Kawart. |
Could we post when we have it and be ready to send it right away? I ask because my camera sucks, and it actually takes time to upload a photo to post (take picture with my phone, connect to laptop, import to laptop, find an image site to upload to, upload, and finally link), so even if I get a photo I'd be posting first and adding the photo once it's online; it might be quicker to just trade it right away. LOL
I've done some good breeding lately, including some 5IV HA Eevee and 5IV Egg Move Sneasel all within a day. I can't call myself a breeder extraordinaire and not do this. My FC is below. I do have two questions. 1. Will all three (presuming three) challenges be able to use something caught within Kalos WITHOUT access to Friend Safaris, HAs, etc. as breeding stock? 2. Am I correct that IVs (say, a minimum of four perfect IVs) are not required for this? Naturally, they are not seen in a photo, so presuming not. |
A picture would be preferred, but exceptions could be made, so yes, you can post and ask one of the judges to trade with you.
Yes, all 3 challenges will be able to be completed within the game and without the need of Friend Safaris, pokémon bank HA nor trading between versions, etc. And IV's are not required, you are correct. |
Count me in! I'm pretty confident about the breeding part, not so much about the speed, especially since I may still be at work when the Pokemon is posted, but I still want to join {XD}

That's why I was asking. :) Posting saying you're done and taking the picture should ideally be done within a minute of each other (I'd allow for two or three due to the possibility of clocks being slightly off). If the picture is up within 2-3 minutes, no need to check timestamps. If it's delayed due to problems (hey, the person might have been kicked offline briefly, it happens without warning), then the picture's timestamp is the way to go. I have a nearly completed Kalos Dex, so I don't think this will be too tough to start off. My only difficulty is if I end up using an HA Pokémon starting off. That could screw me up. The ball required may necessitate fresh catches. |
Looks like fun! Heck, I'm in.
Queeestion though, would playing in a language other than English be a problem? (My game is still the same German file I started with ages ago) EDIT: Stupid question. I just realized I'd just need to trade with the dudes in charge every time or something. |
Quote:
Thing is, it's my first time participating in a speed breeding event, so I don't know how fast people finish the task, like within minutes of each other, so maybe all this talk is practically for nothing {XD} |
Quote:
And yeah, someone could say they're hatching the Egg and then find it's not correct and feign camera problems. The timestamp on the picture will be some 10 minutes later if more Eggs have to be bred. I'd think that would adjust the time of such an entry since the edited time will appear on the post as the new time, as well. I'd only allow no more than a five minute gap between picture and posting time, and even 2-3 should be more than plenty. If it takes 15 minutes to upload a picture (hey, some have dial-up still), then the timestamp on the picture may need to be checked in the file info against the original posting time. Just because you're first with the picture up doesn't mean you were first to get it. |

Also, BBP, translations are available in the internet, so don't worry about that! |
This seems interesting. I haven't been playing with my Pokemon X so this would be a good comeback. My breeding skills are getting rusty, too. Count me in!

Neither will any of the 12 TMs picked up at the Battle Maison. Basically, we can go out, catch the Pokémon, and take it straight to the breeder. We can catch the males with Egg Moves too. If you already have all of them (and lucky enough to have the female to breed in the right ball right away, and something with the nature), you have a leg up. I'm currently looking around for some of my missing TMs and hope to get most, if not all of them (save the ones in the Maison) before this begins. |

First of all, I am aware of that. If I were to ask for a HA I'd ask for one that was available through normal play-through, as I have stated multiple times before.
Second, there is no need to be rude. And third, please don't tell me how to run my event. Thank you. |
This sounds pretty fun. No promises I'll be any good at it, but I'm going to give it a shot regardless!

Filling up the form :)

I'm posting here to remind everyone that filling up the form is required to participate in the event. Failing to do so will result in not being able to participate, it doesn't matter if you had posted before.
|

EDIT: Oh no. You have a need for a Horde Encounter in there, don't you? LOL |

Even so, now that I think about it, that sounds like an interesting activity. |
Just posting to remind everyone that you have until 11:59 AM to fill the sign up form. After that the first challenge will be posted and you'll be unable to participate.
|
Wait, 12pm EMT? That's like 12 hours behind. I thought it was GMT!
-Groan- Kick me out of this. I'm not going to wake up at midnight and I have school the next day. I may sneak my phone into class but not my 3DS. |

All right, I'm ready to do this!
That is, provided something doesn't call me away as the challenge is posted. >.> EDIT: Apparently I never did this, and I must have thought for a simple form like this having it in my sig. was adequate, but here it is: Account: This Account FC: As in sig. - 5327-1949-9511 OT: Cyclone |

And I replied to that message saying it was in my sig.! So I'm being disqualified because I didn't specifically copy and paste information into a three line form instead of pointing out where it was all located in the same post? That's a little...ridiculous. And I have ADD, so it's easy for me to miss something like that, too.
EDIT: I am only now noticing I did not put it specifically in this thread. But I KNOW I replied to the VM confirming where my information is. |

Anyway, fill the form and you will be able to participate. The next time please make sure to do everything you are required to do in order to join an event. |

I'm trying to get the Adamant nature right now, and ran into a slowdown by not having a Captivate user ready to use - or an Adamant mate that works. So I probably lost already. Even so, I edited my 11:58 AM post right above the first challenge info. EDIT: Ugh, and now I put an incompatible Captivate user. Wow, am I spacing out today. |
Done! Huge pics in spoiler.

MIAU: did you just happen to be lucky to have what you needed? I can't see how you otherwise did that so fast. Nicely done. So far, I just have a Flabébé Floette in a Dive Ball. LOL |

I was about to use my last two heartscales on skitty. Sooo glad I updated this page first,XD. |

I stopped after getting one minus the ball and nature because I'm lazy and want to sleep. Will post my results tmr. Good night! |

Hey, wait. Are Rare Candies allowed for this?
Even so, I stupidly wandered in the yellow flowers for ten minutes, then finally went to the blue flowers. There we go, first try. Then I looked and found NOTHING that learns Captivate that I could use; either female or not leveled up. I got a Stantler ready (two levels away), put it in with Flabébé...and we know how that ended. By that point I think MIAU ws already posting victory, but I'm in the Audino Safari with a male Skitty for a little while now because I didn't think Rare Candies was an allowable method for this. I was going to have to rely on Nature Slots™ for the Adamant nature, anyway. |

I was going strong until the lunch bell rang at work and I decided to stuff my face. I had to remember where to buy dive balls at first, XD.

Plus, I'm doing it without Rare Candies. LOL EDIT: Two Calm, a Mild, a Sassy, and an Impish. Hmm. Well, I have Wonder Trade material later... |
I didn't level up that Skitty for nothing (would have been done MUCH faster if Delcatty could learn Captivate), so have some pictures anyway (sorry about the quality, had to use my webcam since my 3DS is the only other picture taking device I have)-

Sorry, I didn't see anything about that other than the first person to post is the winner. Makes perfect sense though as that was a rule in the only other competition I have ever entered.:) |
I finally popped an Adamant one on Egg #14. Challenge complete.

there is my glorious entry:) |
Wait what are we supposed to be breeding?
Nevermind, I'll stay tuned for the challenge tomorrow! ^^ |
My timezone is also GMT+8. I am trying to fix my body clock (I am already starting to sleep in the morning here @[email protected]) so I really won't be able to stay up at the early hours.
I won't be backing out though. Doing today's challenge now! |
Well, finally took a picture of the Pokémon bred two or three hours ago.
It turned out huge. Spoilered it. Spoiler:
Ball images don't translate very well this way, but yes, that's a Dive Ball. |
Finally finished after an hour! I had no Flabebe and Skitty so I had to catch both of them.
I still had to grind Skitty in the Pokemon League afterwards. (My Greninja sweeped the E4 yay xD) I just had to hatch two eggs to get this so this run was good. I had fun o/ (I know the IVs doesn't matter but Kiloude rated it outstanding, which was nice >w<) Spoiler:

I'm still stuck at schooolll. I'll post both entries in 10hours time. Lucky Peter Quill!
|
Bonus Round Pokemon don't need to be bred by the way.
|
If only I could find my Pokemon X. Ugh, hopefully I'll find tomorrow and I can breed this. I don't even care if I'm not the first one....
|
Finally >w<. This took longer than expected @[email protected] (2-3 hrs)
Encountering Ekans in a horde is hard enough, but finding which one has the Hidden Ability is even worse. Also, the occasional rain will stop you from using Sweet Scent xD. I brought it straight to the E4 to level it up for it to evolve. Spoiler:
|
Whoa, I'm in a dofferent game!
And sadly, I do not have an Arbok Safari! (If it even exists.) And yes, I know it appears in a horde... However, you CAN breed these, if you end up with a male HA. Just get any Luxury Ball female. Breed for the ability on a random Egg. Heypresto. EDIT: I have decided to now level up a random Lv.20 Audino from my PC (may use a Lv.30 FS) and make it watch its species get beat up for experience. I am so mean. :) |
Gah, wish I'd noticed this sooner. Not that it would've helped, since tracking down an Arbok horde is proving to be a pain but it's more fun that way. Oh well.
|
Quote:
Also, 1) I think males can only pass HAs when bred with a Ditto, and 2) the female species will always determine which species the egg would be. Well, my other intention in doing this is to expand my breeding stock, so I guess I am hitting two birds with one stone. |
Quote:
EDIT: Well, THAT was fun. Spoiler:
I know it's an Ekans, not an Arbok. But my Audino had a hard enough time tagging all of them with Entrainment without going to Route 19 for the immediate evolution's horde. If this is not considered a victory, I'll train it with a few Safari battles in the morning. I mean, six or seven Audino/Chansey battles or less should do the job to Lv.22. It's 3:15 AM, I have to sleep. LOL |
I've been breeding Flabebes left and right cursing and screaming at the damn gender ratios until I saw the page. 100% Female #Notevengoingtocry.
I even got a dive ball one already! How to... Oh, breed a Skitty with a dive ball flabebe (Facepalm) Spoiler:
..., can you see the picture? I cant... |

I'm struggling to get a female with the nature. So far, two three four males, and the Helioptile isn't putting out very much.
If I can just get a female, I got this. EDIT: This is getting pricey. EDIT: Got the female. Easy now. EDIT: Got all my Eggs for inter-breeding. Now just need two more steps. |

http://oi59.*.com/22xb2v.jpg It doesn't show Naive in that screen since it's on the other tab. Can't get both the nature and ability, plus the moves, in one picture, but trust me, Naive nature was the first thing I did. EDIT: Whoops, I forgot that the PC actually does that...I can reupload if necessary. |
Hopefully I'm not too lateBLARGH oh well have a terrible quality picture anyway:
Spoiler:
|
Noooo. :(
Well I'm still breeding him anyways. Just caught a helioptile. lol |
Quote:

Summary of my experience doing this, with steps.
1. Caught the Helioptile on the second encounter (ran away from a Sandile). 2. Got stuck on Rhyhorn's back, couldn't Fly. Ended up encountering another Helioptile. Captured it in case it turned out Naive. It wasn't and I released it later. 3. Bred the female Naive Helioptile using a Naive Everstone-holding partner. Took to the fifth Egg to hatch the female. I was not amused; this long time gap cost me being the winner, as I spent about 10-15 minutes (or more) cycling back and forth. I wanted a female in case later steps didn't work out. Plus I needed to ensure the Egg Move Helioptile came out Naive to cover my bases. 4. Dug in the PC and found my Sceptile from the GT11 post-game E4 challenge. Was going to use my Seviper, but it's female. Found another Seviper, a male, at Lv.28 and found out it learns Glare at Lv.24. Score! 5. Utilized Heart Scales to get Agility and Glare back on the appropriate parents. 6. Bred Helioptile with Seviper. Got an Egg. 7. Repeated with Sceptile but took extra to ensure an opposite gender to the other. Thankfully, this time, I later found out I got it on the first Sceptile Egg. 8. Hatched both Eggs. 9. By this time, I had ended up with Sand Veil on both Eggs. Had no choice but to continue breeding the Sand Veil parents to get the Egg Moves together. 10. Hatched THAT Egg and bred it with the original Dry Skin female from Route 9! 11. Got the winner on the second Egg. |
well then.....
Spoiler:
I should have taken into account how this would effect my MM-ing :/ |
Quote:

Just for fun, here's the empty box (ignore the Eevee, it's randomly wandering around) that is now filled with what was used here.
http://oi57.*.com/11ce0dd.jpg The Sceptile and Seviper have since headed back to their original locations. That top row is all from step 3. Those first three are males, nothing special, and barring good IVs, being released. The first of the four I actually released, then realized I can check IVs on these and kept the rest. The two Eggs in that row were bred after the female. The female...we'll get to her. In the second row, that's a now Lv.10 Helioptile that knows Glare. Wrapping into the third row over the Eggs, the first Helioptile knows Agility and three moves learned at the daycare; this one is the Sceptile-bred one, and all of the extra Eggs came from that and I pulled it as soon as I knew I had a useable female, which explains why the Eggs went in first. These two were Serious and Modest. After that comes a Naive female Lv.16; this one knows no Egg Moves, so I was using her for the nature exclusively. This is the Step 3 female. The next two after her are a male and female (now Lv.9) with the different Egg Moves; the Serious and Modest Egg Move holders were bred with her. Had I gone for the nature somehow in the earlier step, I might have saved time. I need to refine my process for tomorrow. Those last two in the PC eventually bred everything currently in my party except the Lv.7 Sand Veil male at the end, which bred with the missing female and original capture that is still at the daycare. The third slot is the winner pictured earlier. The second slot has Sand Veil. The other two are unhatched. I'm currently Wonder Trading, so I'll hatch and reorganize later. Quote:

Almost forgot to post my pics, was talking on the phone with one of my best friends, whose birthday happens to be today :puts on party hat:

Side note for pic-posting; the images are a lot easier to view if you open them in Paint and reduce them to 40% or even a little smaller. I didn't do that yesterday, but decided to do that today. As you can see, they turned out well. I didn't even spoiler them. :)

Bonus Round! http://www.serebii.net/battletrozei/pokemon/271.png Pokémon: Lombre Ability: Own Tempo Poké Ball: Ultra Ball |
Oh, now that I just started a round of golf, you post this. :P
I'll look later. EDIT: I have looked. After numerous Foongus hordes (I ran) and five Poliwag hordes (I stood there and took the punishment with my Audino - I think I need to grow some paralysis-curing Berries, but they won't be ready until the end of the week and I have about 40 left), I was forced to fly back to Snowbelle and out of the Village area. I will take another gander in the morning and hope for better luck, but the Lombre horde is very rare. What's very interesting is that they appear in the Hidden Grotto in B2/W2. If caught in an Ultra Ball and imported, that technically is a win. If female, that is even more win for a Kalos-bred one. Oh, and FTR, I did not get a single HA Poliwag during that search, either. Five hordes. This won't be fun. |
