I'm extremely underlevelled. What's happening?

Hello.

My sister and I have recently began playing Pokémon X. However, we are in similar points in the game and I am Level 26 - 29, whereas she is Level 32 - 38.

Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed out a vital part of the game?

Thanks in advance.

She had more battles than you did?

No, when we play Pokémon, we always try to find every item and battle every trainer.

Well there isn't much possible reasons.

1. She battles more.
or
2. Her battles get her more experience points if she is battling stronger Pokes.

Also, you said you are on the same points, and you ask if you missed a vital part of the game. What point? How do we know if you missed something if we dont even know where you are now and what you did till now lol.

Anyway, I assume it's the reason #1, but I havent played X/Y in the first place so I cant be too sure. :)

Neither of us like to battle Wild Pokémon if not necessary. We like to get through the game and storyline to find out what happens next as soon as possible. We have currently both defeated the 3rd Gym, also.

It could be your choice in Pokemon as some Pokemon gain levels a lot quicker as others, or maybe even one of you has taken advantage of the Pokemon Amie system while the other hasn't.

Or she's been lying and grinding in the wild behind your back.

Pokémon Amie gives experience ... ? How?

Dr. Silver July 13th, 2014 3:55 AM

If a Pokemon has 2 affection hearts in Pokemon Amie, they'll recieve an experience boost in battle. It might not seem like much but over time the experience will add up.

You're giving me too little info so I cant help you. It's not like there is a glitch or something, one of you obviously got more experience points, period.

Did you turn on the EXP share? It makes a lot of difference when all your Pokémon receive EXP at once.

That might be it ... I'm such an idiot. I didn't want to use it as I wanted to play the game without using a machine to pump experience gained from overpowered Pokémon into weak Pokémon. I'd rather do it properly.

Nah July 13th, 2014 5:57 AM

It's probably a combination of what Dr. Silver and Virtual Headache said: that she's using Amie and the Exp. Share while you're not, and there's the possibility that her Pokemon require less Exp. to level up than yours. She may also be using the Exp. boosting O-Power as well.

And since I'm pretty sure you have your answer now, I'll be locking this. Questions like these don't really need their own thread. We have an X and Y Questions and Answers thread stickied to the top of the section, so please use that for future X/Y related questions. Thanks!
