Lilycove's Clear Out Sales

In RSE during the endgame, the Lilycove department store rarely had clear out sales on the roof, selling unique stuff for secret bases such as Seedot TV's, the mini-gym platforms, etc.. Do you think they will still have the clear out sales? If they do, will it be a everyday thing or on a specific day?

Salzorrah July 16th, 2014 8:25 PM

I'm pretty sure they will return. Maybe they can have clear-out sales every Sunday? I don't think we will be getting it everyday. I also hope it would be randomized, to add to the challenge.

I would like for it to stay random. I paid attention to the commercials on the tv's so I knew when there was a sale. It'll cause people to pay more attention to what's on the Tv's in game xD.

Keeping it randomized would be our safest bet, just as most people said. They've had TVs in RSE for various reasons, and this was one of them. If they remove that purpose, they wouldn't be as important anymore. Though, only addition that I'd like them to possibly implement is to perhaps add some radio function in PokéNav, which would behave nearly similarly to televisions but only without picture, allowing you to check advertisements like this from pretty much anywhere. That way, chances of you missing out on clear-out sale opportunities would drastically be lowered.

I love when these things happen, personally; usually, you get to put your hands on stuff that you've never seen before, anywhere.

Considering I was never even aware of these sales until seeing this thread, I'm going to say keep it random. It makes it interesting, and apparently possible for someone to overlook the sales for years. I'm so tempted to go back and replay Emerald just for this now, lol.

That "radio" function would be really interesting.. I wouldn't mind if TVs had less of a purpose; no reason to force the player to visit a house/building just to catch up on news/recent trends if they can just stream the news directly from a portable device like a PokeNav (which would probably reflect how people seem to typically obtain news in modern times). Having the news on both TV and radio would be beneficial to the player, I guess.

I'm torn...although I kind of want the sales to be randomized for the classic feel, it can get annoying waiting and checking for the sale to pop up just so you can get that one last rare item for your Secret Base (particularly, if your Secret Base happens to have those cracks in it (provided that they're coming back), you practically require the sale since you need the floorboard thing to walk to the rest of your base). Instead of being randomized by time, maybe you can permanently have access to the "enhanced stock of clear-out sale items" once the player achieves a certain in-game goal (like defeating the Elite Four or Battle Frontier facility a certain number of times)?

I'm wondering why they wouldn't be randomized, for reasons already stated in this thread. Plus, the clear out sales had pretty rare items so if such rare items were scheduled to be sold regularly then it would kind of defeat the point.

It seems that the floorboards will be needed again as they showed a base with floorboards as well as cracks.
I hope that they add more items on sale. One of the reasons I didn't mind was that I actually got something to waste my money on after stock piling it post game.

Adding to ^, there also seem to be elevated areas with stairs, so maybe the sale will have stairs as well?

On the original topic, I agree that it'll likely be randomized, else there won't be much use to the special TV broadcasts. If they weren't, the only thing TVs would have to talk about--aside from what you tell the reporters and the typical TV shows--are Pokemon outbreaks. (I'm going on the assumption that the Game Corner won't return or becomes like Voltorb Flip where you can't buy coins. There's also the chance that some of the new features in the game could have special TV broadcasts.) That being said, it'd be nice if it were more frequent, or if there were a way of triggering it more frequently, such as visiting a number of Secret Bases or stealing a number of flags from Secret Bases or something.

What really intrigues me if they would add more items that are not secret base items. Maybe they could have a megastone up for grabs? Or maybe evo stones?

I can see the Starter Mega stones being for Sale. Maybe they could add the XY Mega stones not found in the rest of Hoenn for Sale. I kind of doubt they'll have all of them though as it seems GF wants us to trade for all of them.

I would want the sales to be randomized, it's a fun, harmless way to add some realism to the Pokemon games. I think not having it randomized would ruin its purpose as a feature.

Maybe when one is in Lilycove and the sales are going on there will be a lot of people at the department store. Or maybe some of the NPC's in the city could bring it up, letting those who don't check on the TV know. Plus it'll be similar to how people in Japan (well in anime) treat one day sales, by talking a lot about them, and rushing off to buy before they end.
