A Ditto in my Friend Safari

I just found out I have a Ditto in my FS, and one of my friends told me it's a really good thing. Why?

Belldandy July 21st, 2014 9:50 AM

For breeders. Different natures, higher IVs off the bat, and few FS have Ditto in it :) so yay for you!

I have a crappy Safari lol

Neil Peart July 21st, 2014 9:55 AM

How rare is it to have a Ditto in one?

Also can I register you for your Safari? I need all three.

Yep, go ahead. I'll add your FC later. Worktime soon.

Birthday Thunder July 21st, 2014 3:15 PM

I also have a ditto safari. I was the same way when I found out and everybody wanted to be my friend. I was like, "whats the big deal?" lol

Death July 21st, 2014 5:30 PM

Yeah, Ditto safaris are apparently very popular. Lucky you.

I recently reformatted my 3DS so I no longer have any idea what Pokemon are in mine. haha (Probably something boring like... Gabite. Again.)

Recently got help in figuring it out. It's Ice with Spheal and Sneasel.

Shiny Bunnelby July 21st, 2014 5:54 PM

Yeah, Ditto is a pretty big deal to people who are breeding Pokémon, such as myself, and aiming for perfect IV's. It takes quite a bit longer to breed, switch, breed, switch, breed for female, switch for a different member of the same egg group, switch, etc. With Ditto from a friend safari, you may be guaranteed the IV's you're missing, so the time is cut short, plus you can keep using Ditto for every Pokémon.

Virtual Headache July 21st, 2014 6:29 PM

...and it's also necessary for Pokémon which are genderless/male only.
When X/Y was still newer, people were completely crazy about Ditto Safaris but I think the hype has died down a bit. You should still expect some new visitor messages after making this thread xD
I was lucky enough to get access to a Ditto Safari from a new member here. My own Safari is lame though D:

DocLive July 21st, 2014 6:32 PM

Do you mind adding me... I have all three pokemon unlocked but I don't know what they are.
My friend code is 0404-7938-9771
I really need someone to tell me what they are, and I also need dittos :(

Mostly as people have said above, a Ditto Safari is a breeder's wet dream. Pokemon in Safaris are guaranteed to have at LEAST 2 perfect IV's, randomly - as well as varying natures. So naturally, since ditto can breed with anything including genderless pokemon - a safari with Ditto is invaluable.

I myself am trying to breed a Golurk right now - so if you wouldn't mind could I add both of you? :P

Also, neat trick if you're going for genderless pokemon breeding, if you can get a ralts (or anything else with the ability synchronize) with the nature you want on your genderless project, put it at the front of your party and go into a ditto safari. 50% of the ditto you encounter, will have the same nature as your Ralts / other synchronize pokemon, and of course the guaranteed 2 + IV's because of being found in a safari.

Belldandy July 21st, 2014 7:08 PM

That, and the trick of Static pulling in more Electric Pokemon.

And Cute Charm attracting Pokemon of the opposite sex.

So could be useful to know these things, esp. for things like Pyroar with low male values, etc. :)

Hikamaru July 21st, 2014 7:13 PM

As the others mentioned, Ditto are a highly sought-after Pokemon in the Friend Safari and they are among the rarest species found out of all the possible Pokemon there. Given Pokemon encountered in the safari have a guaranteed 2 IVs it makes Ditto Safaris heavy in demand among breeders.

That's why you gotta be prepared for lots of requests from people looking for Ditto.

I know all of that. I'm an avid breeder and have a large understanding of IV's and the competitive scene. I was just telling the OP how I used to think when X/Y first came out and had a limited understanding of the friend safaris. Anyways, go ahead and add me. I will add you back if you need a ditto safari.

Neil Peart July 21st, 2014 10:21 PM

Hell, I don't mind the more requests - the more Safaris, the better.

Running4cover July 22nd, 2014 3:50 PM

*cough* speaking of how everyone wants to be friends with Ditto safaris...
Please add me! I'm lost, and lonely, and sad (and just a LITTLE bit hungry, but friendship doesn't cure that <_< ).

Thanks!

Yes.

Spoiler:
Minimum text ruins the joke here BTW.

Running4cover July 24th, 2014 7:37 PM

I've taken the liberty of adding you too, Undertaker.

(No obligation, of course, I just want some Iv'd dittos to instill further meaning in my life :P)
