Altering Cave
This space right here. Will it return to ORAS with a different functionality or will this be quietly swept under the carpet?

Altering Cave is pretty useless. It was then so there is no point of it showing up. If by chance it does, then it will probably be for nostalgic purposes.
|
If this does return, what I would like to see, personally, is Pokémon with higher shiny rate. They could incorporate online functionality, maybe, and have it utilize Friend Codes; certain Pokémon would be applied to everybody's code, similarly to Friend Safari, and they would all appear on your end if these people do happen to be on (wouldn't exactly matter what they're playing).
As suggested in above posts, perhaps they might also be able to throw hidden abilities. For some Pokémon, they're very important, and more way we have of running into them with such things, the better. |
Maybe it could be done a la Mirage Island style, and appear at random? And maybe have either Hidden Ability Pokemon, or Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos Pokemon in? And maybe if you have XY data stored, the chances of Altering Cave appear are higher?
|
Higher shiny rate would be fun! I want them to do something with it and not just leave it like it was before - if they plan on that, I say it's better if they just remove it altogether. I barely knew it existed before ORAS was announced, haha.

They could use it as a place to go to alter the formes of the various pokemon with different formed. Hence keeping the name but making it useful

If Altering Cave were to return, I'd sort of like to see its layout actually change in shape--when I first discovered it, I thought it would do and was disappointed that it didn't change. However, chances are it will probably stay the same and instead have alternating Pokemon like it was supposed to. Given how we can now get Wi-Fi events and DLC, updating the Altering Cave so that it has different Pokemon is a lot easier. It's also possible that connecting with various Secret Bases could change the Pokemon found, which would be pretty neat, too! I'd also like to see a higher shiny rate; it would make the cave worth going into more.

I sure hope they do something like that. I still think they will just eliminate it though... |

I'm not sure what would trigger its changes, but I definitely think it should be something other than downloading an event, as those will some day be discontinued, and at least to me, they would seem too infrequent to let us make good use of a feature like this. |

They might make Altering Cave like those caves with one item inside. If that would be the case, it would most probably be a megastone.

I never noticed this cave existed in R/S before; I guess it shows how worthless Altering Cave is. Since we're getting Friend Safari back, I doubt the Altering Cave will serve a new purpose as our Hidden Grotto from B2/W2, maybe as a place to find a Mega Stone.

Also this cave was in only in Emerald (and in the Sevii island for the Kanto remakes). I remember someone told me a rumor that if you stayed in Altering Cave without moving for 24 hours Mew would appear...can't believed it... |

It's quite isolated from the rest of the islands, I found it by accident...was so disappointed by what was inside...Zubat... |
Wait what? I played Emerald countless times and never even realised that it existed 0_0

If this cave were to return, I really want to see it be an "actual" cave with passageways and puzzles, leading to (possibly?) a legendary pokemon. Or it could be a location for a mega stone?
Otherwise, this cave serves no purpose and I hope to see it gone. |

That made me think of changing the cave's skin, along with grouping the Pokémon types. Like, instead of a completely random pool of Pokémon, it chooses only Pokémon that have a certain type, and changes the cave's appearance to fit them. It would still randomly generate passageways and puzzles, they just would look different depending on the types of Pokémon found in the cave. For example, say one day only Fire Pokémon appear, and the cave's walls and floor look like a volcanic area, then another day it chooses to have Water Pokémon appear, and changes the appearance to something like an underwater cave. Maybe this could also affect the kind of obstacles you find while exploring. A Mega Stone would also be a good addition, and they could make it a guaranteed one-time reward for getting to the end for the first time. |
