Trainer Classes

Do you think ORAS will introduce new trainer classes beyond 'Secret Base Expert' (Aarune's class)? If so, are there any you'll like to see?
Do you think old trainer classes such as the Ruin Maniacs which haven't been seen since Gen IV will return (seeing how they were in the originals)? If not, then which classes may they be replaced with?

What about classes introduced in Gen IV-VI? Do you think they'll make an appearance in Hoenn? Where could we see them if so?

MarinoKadame August 3rd, 2014 1:14 PM

I could see some Fairy Type class like in gen VI.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 3rd, 2014 1:46 PM

I hope they make a male counterpart to the Fairy girls. Having no boys who specialize in fairies makes the type come off as something for girls like many have accused it of being aimed at.

cmtthws92 August 3rd, 2014 2:33 PM

I can see the skaters coming back since I believe roller skates will be featured in the game.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 3rd, 2014 3:03 PM

One class I don't see returning are the Doctors and Nurses, as Hoenn didn't have any area that was too far from a Pokémon center.

I can see the Sky Trainers return. Perhaps with one, or two, or even several of them bringing up the 'Flying Green Dragon over Hoenn'.

I hope the doctors do not return. They make the game way easier than it should.

Sky Trainers I can see coming back.

Maybe a new class will be made and it will be trainers that are under the water when you use Dive, it could be some trainers in Scuba wetsuit.

Megan August 3rd, 2014 3:46 PM

I hope Bug Catchers return. They have been absent since, I think, gen 5?

They are basically a reference to the origins of Pokemon, so it would be cool, to see them again in the newer games.

I would like to see that happen :3

Same here. And yes, they were missing from Gen V, just like the Ruin Maniacs. Another trainer class I'll like to see return that hasn't appeared since Gen IV are the Frontier Brains :3

Speaking of bug catchers I would like to see some female bug catchers, interestingly Viola is the only female bug specialist in all the games... seeing how Bugsy, Aaron, Burgh, and the all of the Bug Catcher class (well in Japanese it is correctly called the Bug Catching Boy class) are male.

Would like to see a Male fairy trainer, as well as more treainers that obviously epcialize in Steel and Dark type Pokemon, if that makes sense. Maybe even a replacement of those breeder trainers that always had a full team of 6 weak Pokemon?

Altius August 4th, 2014 8:20 AM

I think bug catchers, dragon tamers, kindlers, ninjas (YES, those brats) and ruin maniacs will make a return.

Cooltrainers will be changed to Ace Trainers.

As for fairy trainers, I'm not sure. There hasn't been many fairy type pokemon in the Hoenn dex anyway. I can only think of the azurill line and ralts line.

Tetra August 4th, 2014 8:25 AM

I'm like 99% percent sure that all trainer classes in Gen III will return in OR/AS. It wouldn't make sense if they didn't include so much like the Bug Catcher. The whole forest has Bug Catchers in there. They couldn't trick us and just put youngsters there. And also that mountain route with the ninjas! Always loved how they hid behind and under piles of ash. They were a really cool addition.

I can also see some new trainer classes from Gen VI being included, like the Fairytale Girl. I'd like them to have Pokémon from the Ralts line ^3^

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 4th, 2014 8:28 AM

Did any classes from Gen II that weren't in Gen IV return for HgSs?

aurevesque August 4th, 2014 8:31 AM

What would the fairy trainers look like anyway? Little Peter Pan and Tinkerbell sprites? Would it be little girls with tiaras and clip on wings and glitter?

I hope the upper class trainers appear, mostly since they hand out a lot of prize money for beating them.

Yeah pretty sure they did. Kimono Girl wasn't in D/P, and is in HG/SS. Just checked on Bulbapedia ^_^;

Well in XY they were little girls which creepy big eyes...

Well Ladies and Gentlemen were in RSE so chance are they will reappear. I hope that the Lady near the entrance to Petalburg Forest still has that Linoone with the nugget attached...I used to steal those and made a fortune (in addition to the price money), off of my battles with her :3

Sceptile90 August 4th, 2014 1:47 PM

I see no reason for the old trainer classes to not return. The only Fairy Types I can think of in Hoenn's dex are Marill, Ralts ans Skitty.

And Skitty is still Normal and not even Fairy.

Ralt, Azurill, and the Iggybuff lines are the only Pokemon in the originals that were retcon as Fairies, so Fairy trainers could have those. Unless they add more fairies I don't see Fairy trainers being a big class in these games. Then again, Ruin Maniacs mostly had Baltoy, and Sandshrew (and/or evos).

Essentia August 4th, 2014 5:11 PM

If Gabby and Ty aren't in this game I will be so upset. The Interviewers (the Reporter and Cameraman) were my favourite trainer class in R/S/E. I thought it was cute how they would ask the player for feedback on the battle afterwards which would appear on TV.

I hope they'll be back too. They made the TV worth watching in RSE (actually I think RSE had the most tv related activities, with those two, the Lilicove sales, swarms, and the Lati traveling around Hoenn being announced as soon as you defeated the champ...actually one of the first things we do is watch (well read) Norman having a match after fixing the clock).

I'm hoping they introduce a trainer class based on the military.

Please, Gamefreak. Fairies aren't just for girls. ;~; Can we have some really manly bikers-type men like we did before, who only train fairies?

Other than that... I can really see some artists being present in ORAS, because Hoenn has such nice scenery it's only natural there are several people out there who want to paint it.

Yato August 5th, 2014 5:41 PM

Either Fairy Tale Prince or Fairy Tale Knight should become a Trainer class, y/y?

I do agree that a male Trainer class that specializes in Fairies would be nice. I mean, some fairytales are pretty damn grim, and not all Fairies are "girly".

Other than that, I'd like to see Fairy Tale Girls return (although there aren't many Fairies in the Hoenn Dex, the Fairy Tale Girls in the Maison also use Psychic and Normal types, so maybe they can use those in Hoenn?) and have Gabby & Ty return. Those guys were fun to have around; it'd be weird without them.

XtinaIsMeLuvinWWE August 5th, 2014 5:56 PM

All I know is that I can't wait to see the original Battle Girls again, hopefully with their original design from Gen III for nostalgia's sake :)

Hikamaru August 7th, 2014 12:09 AM

I think they'll mostly retain the classes the original games had, when it comes to remakes based on past examples they never added any new trainer classes other than those battling facilities which I don't count.

The Lass and Youngster designs look really good so far, in fact they seem to have been based off part of the original RSE Lass and Youngster designs.

You also happened to have reminded me of that one Roughneck trainer in Sinnoh who used a Cleffa on his team, even though it was still Normal-type back then. It is still quite the feminine-looking Pokemon though given its pink color and gender ratio that skews towards female a lot.
