WRONG! We don't play favorites on the server. Everyone is equal!

BUT! Wobbu has the distinction of being our server's very first Advisor! He is still a normal member (no creative, etc.), but because of his overall behavior and effort on the server, he has been "promoted" to put it easiest.

An Advisor position functions with the overall purpose of better helping out the server. This means our regular members can come to Advisors for help with: conflicts, questions, and assistance. If neither of the two admins (myself and El Heroe) are online, Advisors will function as our eyes and ears. This means regular members CAN go to Advisors for help with griefing or theft, inappropriate behavior or language, and general help. The Advisors can determine what is occurring and let us admins know about it so we can make decisions or better handle things.

There will be more of you given this role in the future, so continue being great members as you already are and your dedication to our awesome server will show. Being an Advisor doesn't mean you need to be a Welcome Wagon for new members either, but simply helps us admins with the goings-on of the server and better awareness of what occurs.

So congrats Wobbu! Don't let it get to your head. ;) Joking!

Ooh thank you, I'll try my best :D Just a heads up, I wouldn't trust that White Mage guy.

lol, I was thinking I would just build a house on one of the empty plots, but that might work too.

Also, since I already put all the work in I may as well sell the Hobbit hole as it is. All the space is cleared it just hasn't been facny-fied. Mainly needs better walls. I put a bunch of signs out if anyone wants to look.

Heads up - Thunderdome will be happening soon. Make sure y'all have a piece of Obsidian to put outside your houses.

By the way, I'm now selling rabbits and squid in the pet store!

I hurr ya. I've been too unmotivated to really do much; it's the only reason I'm on more than usual. :( Gotta get something going, haha.

Klippy November 2nd, 2014 1:44 AM

Okay...

So after about a week (or two?) of work, the anthology adventure map I created is open for exploring! Here's a brief synopsis and some guidelines:

The Moon

http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/minecraft.gamepedia.com/4/4b/Moon_Phases.gif?version=3326d09a21e5a1f5184e97b6f0519127

PART ONE

The year is 2063 AE. You are a citizen of the United Earth and have enlisted to be on the Antilles, a colonizing space station located near Earth's moon. In the first part of the anthology, you are assigned to work in Sciences and Technology where your colleagues have been experimenting with opening dimensional shifts that lead to new galaxies and planets outside the Milky Way. Something unexpected occurs and the entire space station is thrown into turmoil. You must escape with your life and discover what has gone into the dimensional shift...and what has come out of it.

Guidelines

The one thing I ask is that you EXPLORE! Every single button (stone button) is an interactive storytelling element. If you ignore even a single button or skip entering a single room, you are wasting your time and you will miss the plot! This is not a challenge or battling map, but designed for immersion and plot.

The only time you should avoid pressing a button is if it is marked with an End Stone block (see below). There is only one and you should seek out the other buttons BEFORE pressing this button.

http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/t483/Grassyfilth/default_endstone-1.png

A good rule-of-thumb is to always press buttons closest to you first before pushing any further down. There are several hard-to-locate buttons, but seek these out for smaller, interesting details to further immerse yourself in the story.

RULES
  1. Only ONE person can be playing the map at a time. Any more and the "movie magic" will not work properly.
  2. Please do not exploit any elements of the map to gain extra items. If you are caught, you will be banned.

Pay attention to rule two because I can actually check who has been pressing buttons inside the map.

  3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Leave feedback! I deserpately want to know what you think of the map and I encourage everyone to give it a try!

Location

Access to the Moon map can be found in the Transport Hub to the left. It is an End Stone portal with a moon skull. Once that is pressed, you will be taken to the map hub. Simply enter the portal and your story will begin!

My internet is out (posting from my parents' house), so that's why I haven't been on lately. I'm still in need of sand (and a lot of it), so if anyone still has some extra and doesn't know what to do with it.

Also, thank you for the people who have given me sand so far! It's greatly appreciated, and I wish I knew who left me some so I could thank them.

As per usual, I always have something to say about your episodes. :P

1) I feel terrible every time someone loses at the final battle. I feel bad, generally, when someone loses at any level past the fifth. So the final battle is ONLY for the prize, but you still beat Tier I. I think I said that on the vid, but you didn't see it.

2) I'm glad you're back! I enjoy your videos a lot and especially getting to see my work from a new perspective. :)

Glad to be back! It was a long weekend. First half of this week is gonna be crazy busy too, but after that, I should be back to putting up a couple videos every day. =)

El Héroe Oscuro November 3rd, 2014 3:46 PM

Just wanted to give a few updates on some OP matters:
  • A new section entitled the "Detroit Chronicle Footage" has been added to the OP of the Minecraft page, giving users quick and easy access to all of welknight's videos. A link is also provided to welsknight's YouTube channel in case people would like to see more videos from him.
  • A new section entitle "Detroit's Current Activities" has been added to the OP of the Minecraft page, highlighting whatever event is currently going on in the Minecraft Server. A link will also be provided to the current activitie's OP so people can get a better understanding of what is going on.
Things currently in the works:
  • "Verdanturf Resident" emblem is currently in the work of being reshaped into the "Detroit Resident" emblem; more info about this will be released at a future point.
  • More obtainable emblems are in the works.
  • A "Meet the Moderator's & Advisors" portion is in the works, giving new users a brief summary as to who runs the server as well as who they may turn to if they have questions.
  • Past festivities will be updated at a future point.
  • I am in demand of screenshots of our beautiful city. If you have any screenshots that you have deemed worthy of fitting on the main page, PM them to me so I can add them to it.
  • With some things goings missing lately, the idea of giving everyone an Ender Chest is being thrown on the table in order to protect items. Let me know what y'all think about this if you want this done.
That's it for now, more will be updated in a bit.

Necrum November 3rd, 2014 3:52 PM

There's also a Hedge maze in the works if I ever get around to it, lol! November seems like a good month for it though. I'll try to actually do it some time this month.

This is awesome. Thank you so much for this honor!

With that said, you might want to update the episode numbers to reflect the numbers in the actual Youtube videos and the order of release. This will help people from getting confused, especially since I refer to previous videos in some of them, so messing around with the order might not be a great idea. =P

I'd recommend the following:
Episode 0.1: PokeCommunity Server Part 1
Episode 0.2: PokeCommunity Server Part 2
Episode 0.3: PokeCommunity Server Part 3
Episode 0.4: The Gauntlet!
Episode 1: Night of the Gauntlet
Episode 2: Community Builds & Shenanigans
Episode 3: Tomb of Heka
Episode 4: Abandoned Mine
Episode 5: First Gauntlet 2.0 Run!
Episode 6: Wobbu's Revenge!

Yeah, I didn't exactly know how to properly order it considering how you basically had a series before a series, but this makes more sense. I'll update the OP tomorrow when I first get a chance to reflect these changes.

If anyone was wondering why I'm not on the server, well let's just say I temporarily left the server. I know it sucks but family issues :/ I might come back at the end of November but still not sure yet. I'm gonna keep on tabs by wels' videos, and this thread too. Hoping by the end of the month, the lag thing is fixed. Btw Matt, I have some shots of Spruce Heights but they might be outdated.

Here's another new episode! I know, this is Episode 8 and I skipped Episode 7. There were some technical difficulties with the upload for Episode 7. I'm going to have to re-render it and upload load it tomorrow, so look for Episode 7 then!

I'm only a bit into the episode, but you completely rushed through TWO plot buttons. :( The entire story hinges on one button that you missed so I'm kind of disappointed you rushed past it! I'll watch the rest in a bit. :)

Kanzler November 4th, 2014 6:36 PM

ugh. i feel selfish asking this, but is it possible that the thunderdome be moved? i was going to add the main keep of the castle behind the one that's already built, and it would end up overlapping with where the thunderdome is at the moment. is there some kind of server sorcery that can be used to copy and paste the thunderdome blocks a bit further back?

i understand if it's too much of a hassle, but i still want to keep my fingers crossed if there's a reasonable compromise for this.

As far as server technology goes, I can't move it. I don't want to implement any plugins because we run straight vanilla right now, so moving it would be up to its creator, El Heroe. He will have to answer that part of your question though, so I'm sorry. :(

Here's what my plans would have looked like superimposed over the map atm just fyi.

I know that I should've voiced my suggestions that the thunderdome be moved earlier and this probably wouldn't be an issue, but I'd be really grateful if we could work something out. I wouldn't mind pitching in some time to reconstruct the thunderdome.

I don't mean to come across as pushy, just a little disappointed that I didn't say anything earlier. I gave the login of my minecraft account to my girlfriend to help me concentrate on my studies hehe XD

Okay, so I did a quick video test with a recording software. It's fairly choppy and the aspect ratio is not correct (text is cut off), but this is just a small preview of the Moon, Pt. II that I figured I'd use to test out my stuff. :)

For that video, it was some free thing I found online. It really lagged out my computer though, so I discovered another one that I haven't tested yet. :)

As for editing/rendering, iMovie worked fine for me so I just went with that. Was a pretty smooth little bit of work, though the video is very short so it could get trickier the longer I make them.

iMovie is pretty good for free software (as long as you have a Mac). For recording software, I personally use LoiLo Game Recorder, but I'm not sure if it's Mac-compatible.

Necrum November 6th, 2014 9:05 AM

If you want I can edit anything for y'all, I have access to Premier as a film student. All you need is a place to put the footage and a basic idea of what needs to be in the video. I like using Open Broadcaster to record personally.

That's actually the one I'm gonna test out now (Open Broadcaster)! I had to update to Yosemite to get it though, haha! And thanks for the offer! If I need some help, I might take you up on that. :)

The Detroit Emblem is now up for grabs! To achieve this emblem, you must take a screenshot of your house (inside and out) and publish these pictures in this thread to prove that you live in Detroit!

*Note: If you got the Verdanturf Resident emblem before, you can still get this emblem.

Austin November 7th, 2014 12:07 PM

For the Detroit emblem, this is my house in Spruce Heights.

welsknight November 7th, 2014 12:40 PM

YOU MONSTER. I demand compensation for my two sugar canes.

Anyway, the lower part of the basement was just a gaping hole of mismatched stones the last time you visited, that's why you don't remember seeing the enchanting room, haha.

Also, I like how none of us bother to take down Mage's fish. We all just accept that Detroit is the city of puffer fish now.

I thought the fish was Klippy's doing haha. Detroit: Our National Fish, the Puffer Fish

We should really have a flag for Detroit imo

I know. Plus, they're everywhere, and in some rather interesting spots.

The Moon

http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/minecraft.gamepedia.com/4/4b/Moon_Phases.gif?version=3326d09a21e5a1f5184e97b6f0519127

PART TWO

The year is 2063 AE. You are a citizen of the United Earth and have enlisted to be on the Antilles, a colonizing space station located near Earth's moon. In the second part of the anthology, you are a Research and Development worker assigned to explore the Moon's mining facilities and discover the source of intense tremors that are interrupting daily operations in the mines. Your assignment takes you deep into the Moon's core and puts your inquisitiveness to the test.

Guidelines

The one thing I ask is that you EXPLORE! Every single button (stone button) is an interactive storytelling element. If you ignore even a single button or skip entering a single room, you are wasting your time and you will miss the plot! This is not a challenge or battling map, but designed for immersion and plot.

I desperately want to know what you think of the map and I encourage everyone to give it a try!

Location

Access to the Moon map can be found in the Transport Hub to the left. It is an End Stone portal with a moon skull. Once that is pressed, you will be taken to the map hub. Simply enter the portal and your story will begin!

WHAT IS THIS DESERPATELY YOU SPEAK OF?!

In all seriousness though, I haven't even finished Part I yet. You'll get feedback in video form hopefully within the next week though. =)

How could I miss that? I wrote the original post late at night, I think, so something got by me. :P Fixed now.

And yay! Thanks!

Wobbu November 8th, 2014 9:02 PM

Moon Pt. 2 feedback:

Ok first of all it's really cool. I didn't expect the twist near the end (maybe it wasn't a twist and I missed a button or was distracted lmao) but I did notice some issues:

Spoil tagged for those who haven't gone through it yet

Spoiler:
The part where you're blocked from the administration area, you can see outside of the complex and into the End, so maybe make the hallway a couple blocks longer.

In the room that gives you the potato, apparently you can still break those paintings if you're in Adventure mode, but you can't put them back (I may or may not have broken the painting in the top right corner of the room...). I guess put some more barrier blocks around them.

Anna said she didn't get any dialogue on the second rail track, but I can't remember if I had that problem.

Issues are no big deal tho and don't ruin the experience.

Also a suggestion :D

Spoiler:
When you're in the beast, you should place some water blocks above the clay ceiling, that way there will be water dripping from the ceiling and it will look cool.

Thanks for the feedback, buddy! :)

1) I recognized that might be an issue...and Part III is in the works now, so I will be fixing that very soon. ;)
2) No biggie on the paintings. They aren't worth continually replacing. Did you like the thing though in that room? I tried something neat and different. I enjoyed it, at least. :P
3)I did do that at the beginning, but in order to get command blocks functional, I had to sacrifice that neat effect on the "inside".

As for that dialogue...I guess I'll need to see. Sometimes it won't activate if there are two people doing the storyline at the same time. So if anyone else was there or near, it will trigger for them.

Arc November 8th, 2014 11:37 PM

Klippy is currently being an evil puppet master, if anyone wants to see. In other words, Wobbu dying repeatedly and myself sitting in a corner.

Klippy November 8th, 2014 11:56 PM

But now we're playing chess.

Aquacorde November 9th, 2014 1:47 AM

re dialogue: we both ran it entirely separately so it wouldn't have been the other person getting signals

If there isn't a giant Obsidian Monolith on the moon exactly 1:4:9 ratio for dimensions in size

Centipede Chan November 9th, 2014 7:33 AM

Holy Zebes I will join the server right now. Haven't played in so long I forgot Minecraft even existed. See you all there.

Wobbu, you only have one badge in your road of being a Chess Master. You have to get seven more.

Spoiler:
Okay, so...you skipped reading the story and missed the plot on a fair few buttons. READ, MAN.

Anyway...the tremors at the Moon were caused by the giant worm, which you sort of didn't see or something? There were a few spots to see it at, but you were rushing through and didn't look. Beyond that, you warped twice because: 1) The foreman told you in his log that they were taking the elevator down to the main mining crater. 2) You were eaten by the worm.

Still enjoyed the episode! Side note, the End Stone you got is a gift for completing the second part because there's currently no other way to get End Stone, haha.

Kanzler November 10th, 2014 8:13 PM

Aquacorde November 10th, 2014 9:08 PM

Tonight in Detroit: Wobbu, Doge, and Anna attempt to do Wobbu's math homework. what are derivatives even ugh

Klippy November 11th, 2014 12:04 AM

Just a quick announcement! The Chess Hall is open as of this morning! Feel free to come on down and play a game of chess against a friend! You're welcome to bring your own set of pieces (you can buy them now at the Skull Emporium for six diamonds) or use one of the default sets located on the third floor (board level).

There's also an area set up to explain the rules of chess and what each piece does if you're inexperienced!

The Chess Hall is located right near the Halloween Pumpkin and behind the Old Gauntlet!

Thanks guys!

welsknight November 11th, 2014 12:06 PM

Speaking of the new Chess Hall... here's a video featuring it!

Wels, I gotta have a game of chess against you one time. Thing is, it's very rare that both of us are on at the same time XD

Every now and again, I have a rare moment of brilliance. This was one of those moments.

Well, it was that, or the whiskey.

If it's Jack Daniel whiskey, send it my way. If it's not, still send it my way.

Also just a notice for everyone: my laptop kicked the bucket about a week or two ago which is why I haven't bee on the server at all (i.e no accessibility.) I'm currently looking at my options in replacing it, but it might be awhile before I can get it replaced. Be nice to Klippy in the meantime, yo.

It's Jameson, unless I'm feeling fancy. Then it's Glenfiddich or Macallan (Scotch).

I definitely made some poor choices in our match, but I look forward to a rematch! :)

Obligatory 1,000 post for the Minecarft Server.

Seriously though...thanks to everyone for being a part of this server. Not to get sappy or anything, I personally never thought the server would blow to this kind of proportion. Videos, events and just an overall great vibe between members is what I've seen come from this server since its creation, so I tip my hat to y'all for creating such an awesome experience for all. Cheers to another 1,000 posts eh?

- El/Matt

P.S Yes I know this is technically the 1001 post because of the OP, but it's the thought that counts (love y'all <3)

Alas! This rascal doth challenge me again! Hast thou lest brains than wax betwixt thine ears? Thy challenge is accepted, and surely I shall defeat thee on the morrow.
